  1. Oh yeah, FLS can use just about any interface you throw at it, its a full fledged DAW as much as Pro Tools, Cubase, or Ableton. The routing within it is so flexible its crazy what you can do in it. Mix that with the routing flexibility that the Helix has, and I will have plenty of luxurious routing options. ;)
  2. Your 11r did this automatically because its Avid, and ProTools! the 11r is designed with protools use in mind, but works great in other DAW environments. I have an 11r, and I don't use Pro Tools, I use FL Studio as I like it much better. I have to manually mute the track that my guitar is on as well. I fully expected to have to mute my guitar tracks in FLS with the Helix once I get the Helix Rack. Point is 11r only automatically does it with Pro Tools. Its one of the 2 benefits from using the 11r with ProTools (the other is complete rig recall from the session in Pro Tools). Other than those things it works just as well in other DAWs. Its simple just remove the track that the guitar is on from going to the Master track, or just mute the signal after the recording in the signal chain. This is one reason why I really like FLS, the mixer is so flexible its easy to do this many different ways. You already have a monitor within the Helix anyway that doesn't suffer from latency like the one through the DAW most definitely has.

    Reamping

The ability to scroll through presets while ReAmping, is definitely a useful feature. I say if the Helix doesn't have this ability, than this feature is primed for popping up on Ideascale!
  4. I don't have a Helix yet, but I don't see why there wouldn't be. I mean if it isn't that would be a major oversight, and if confirmed, I will be putting it up on Ideascale. For a Unit with such routing flexibility, not having this ability would be pretty bad. But lets hear back from someone who has done it, or works for line6 before adding something to Ideascale that may already available.
  5. I'm so excited to be getting a Helix Rack in a few months. I just found out that with its USB you can ReAmp 2 independent signals simultaneously while listening to the entire mix. That alone blows me away for studio use. I love what I have been reading about it, and the clips I have heard of it. I am extremely pleased to hear the effects are spectacular, as I intend to ReAmp much more than just guitar.. I plan to have it as a "ReFX" unit for my plugins within my DAW. How good are the reverbs for instance?
  6. That is outstanding! ^_^ Line 6 you have outdone yourselves. No other unit provides this ability that I know of, and certainly not at this price point. This is gonna be great for dialing in my rhythm guitars. I look forward to using it.
  7. I have a question about the ReAmping in the Helix. Is it possible to ReAmp 2 different signals at the same time from USB? For instance ReAmp both left, and right rhythm guitars at the same time? For Example: from the USB... G1-----------Helix path 1 FX Chain - signal panned left. G2-----------Helix path 2 FX Chain - signal panned right. This would be amazing if this is possible to dial in both simultaneously while listening to the mix at the same time. Especially if you could pan them at any point in the signal chain. No other single unit offers this ReAmping flexibility.
  8. I didn't mean to imply that negatively. If your ReAmping USB, then you are doing it in a studio. As you put it Helix's routing is so powerful, and there are tons of plugins to get the job done. I use Fab Filter Pro Q2, it will be more than adequate for the task. With the routing in my DAW, I can easily place that EQ where I want. So this in no way impedes me. I just like to knowing before hand, as I have pretty much decided I am going to get the Helix Rack. :) Does the Global EQ affect the Headphone output?
  9. So just to make sure I understand...Global EQ would be a useless feature in the Helix for ReAmping (via usb)?
  10. lol, wow I just had a dumb moment. Never mind me.
  11. And DX12. Which is pretty big for gamers. Even more so for multi-gpu users.
  12. Just as a heads up DI. You might want to include how to reset global presets with the rack version too.
  13. I feel this way to a certain extent too. I mean there isn't a single Vocoder in it at all. And since it has a mic pre that is described by Line 6 as... "The pre amps in Helix and in the StageScape mixer are TI Burr Brown digitally controlled analog mic pre amps. They are actually quite expensive and very high quality." ... Then a Vocoder could be very nice in it. That, and more reverbs, but I always want more reverbs. :D
  14. I recently changed picks as well, but I haven't heard of those. I may try them one day, but for now I found my pics. V-Picks. They use acrylic. http://www.v-picks.com/ I used a couple, and I didn't really care for them. Until I came across one of their picks called "Black Hole." :D The Black Hole pick has helped me improve my playing in many different areas. Its easier to sweep with, its easier to scrape with, It hardly spins in my hands, and I don't drop these. I like the sound I get out of these on my guitars mixed with NYXL strings, and these picks. (they have a bit more bite, and presence to them, even on older sets of strings) PLUS they don't get abused like regular picks, (although prolly more than those gemstone picks)
  15. My understanding of the way that is worded is it will read something like 119.7 BPM(as per your example) I would be quite surprised if it turned out to mean something other than that.
  16. Um well... My hope seconds your feelings on this. However, when speaking of quality, and versatility, in no way should the Eleven Rack be behind any Pod including Pod HD. But I really hope Helix is right up there with Kemper, and Axe FX II! I plan on running my Helix with the Eleven Rack (having the Helix as my audio interface, and 11r connected digital AES EBU.)
  17. And for those in the studio, add an extra $300-$500 for a good audio interface so you can properly ReAmp with the Axe FX. As it sits now you can not dial in a ReAmped tone in real time, while simultaneously listening to the rest of the mix with any Axe FX unit as the interface. As it uses a 4(in)x2(out) interface USB interface. So even for someone like myself who doesn't need foot controller, or power amp. It is still over $3000, as opposed to literally half of that and have it all in a single unit.
  18. This is just even more reason I am excited about this thing... My Eleven rack has trouble doing MIDI CC over USB. Even gives me memory errors when trying to use it, and my midi keyboard at the same time. I do have a separate question though. Which would be more beneficial... I want to be able to use my Eleven RAck with my Helix Rack. Would it be better to use AES/EBU Digital XLR link?, or the S/pdif connections? Or would it even make a difference? I was thinking I could use the AES/EBU link to have my 11r connected to it. That way in the future "if" I decide to get a Kemper Profiling amp as well, I could connect it to the Helix via the S/pdif connections.
  19. I wouldn't say "alone"... Then I wouldn't say Helix is too expensive either. That will be easily more decidable after it launches. However, the 8x8 ReAmp flexible monster that this interface is alone, just raises the value of the thing up tremendously for myself. It should for any studio musician that happens to play guitar. That is, if it truly does compare with Axe Fx in the modelling quality aspect. (sound quality) Doesn't have to beat it, just be comparable to it. However, I do expect the sound quality to be perceptibly better than the Eleven Rack (which is quite good I might add), and damn sure better than any of the HD Pod stuff. If this happens, not only is The Helix not "too expensive." It would be the killer deal many recording (and touring) guitarists have been waiting for. Without shelling out $2,500-$3,500 going with Kemper (plus separate interface), or the Axe Fx II xl (plus separate interface). $1,500 all in one box, with such an intuitive UI, and the flexible routing that sure is attractive to me! But I am waiting until late Winter, maybe Spring before I get one. TL:DR I basically agree with ya. :)
  20. Oh my apologies, I saw the sig next to your name, and I assumed you worked for Line 6. I see now, that there is a difference between Line 6 Expert, and Line 6 Staff.
  21. Thats what I have read from Line 6. (and heard in all those videos) That being said I was wanting to get the OP's impression on the UI, and ease of use with the on-board interface. That was my intention from my post. Not calling Line 6 liars, but I am more of a person of skepticism, and wanting more information than just relying on marketing words, and input from staff, especially on stuff like this. A customer's first time impression is a valuable piece of information here, and just another to add to the pie. :)
  22. That is good to know, but the IR features are just added awesomeness. I will be using this Helix Rack, with my Eleven Rack, for all sorts of great sounding amp models. It can also in a way give my 11r custom IRs. I am really looking forward to Helix. I hope the majority of Effects in it are really high quality. I plan on using this thing to processess (ReAmp) all sorts of stuff from my DAW. Question: Was the navigation through its interface as intuitive, smooth, and fast as they claim, and show in the videos? This is something I hope for. Even though I will be using basically exclusively in the studio, I don't want to use any virtual screen space to do stuff in the PC editor for the Helix, if the on-board Helix interface will do it just as well.
  23. Yea, this is one of the main reasons I am not getting it launch, or pre-order. I am probably going to wait until Spring to get it. That allows L6 to get a nice grip on all the launch issues that may show up.
  24. Same here, and unless it has some serious flaws after launch, or just doesn't sound that fantastic once it is out, and thoroughly reviewed, then I am in the same boat.
  25. Yea I compose/record/mix. What you say is true, even when you go into a song with an idea already in mind, albeit its slightly less so. However, I have also noticed the opposite, start out with a limited idea and once you get it going, at certain stages you see several new ideas you have not thought of before become open. So in that regard, my experience is that it has been rather dynamic either way. That being said I am really looking forward to Helix being a rather nice option for expanding my FX suite for not only guitars/bass, but of also all sorts of other instruments/sounds I work with inside my DAW. Just like EZMix, you can use a piano patch on a guitar source, and it may yield a nice tone. Maybe I can send some synths/strings/brass through Helix while ReAmping and have might come up with some really cool stuff!
