  1. I received a pre-owned HX Stomp XL yesterday. Everything looks good except the top right foot switch (switch D) has no capacitive functionality. The other functions of the switch are OK. All of the other switches work fine. I flashed the firmware, turned the capacitive setting on and off a few times in the systems settings and still the same issue. Otherwise it's in brand new condition. Anyone else ever see this? Is there a way to test all of the switches? Help!

  2. On the POD GO, when you are in Snapshot Mode and hit the bank up or bank down button, does it show you the patches in that current bank or does it go up a bank as default? I need to be able to hit the bank up/down buttons and first see the current bank, not upper or lower banks.

Ya.  When I was using snapshots I cleared all the stomp assignments except 2, 1 for a gain block set at +4db and another at -4db.  Worked great having an instant boost or cut, but I'm happier with this spillover/command center 10 preset configuration.  I think your idea of using the momentary switch as a dummy is even better than what I did.  In my approach I had to add the gain block, in yours you just picked an already existing COMP block, correct?  Oh well, the point is either way works and having 10 custom labelled and lit presets available at one time is fantastic!

Yes, I assigned the already used COMP block, changed to to momentary, red and the name of the patch. Awesome!

  4. One of the great features of the BOSS GT-1000 is the "CURNUM" feature where you can press once on a patch switch and then press the same switch again (CURRENT NUMBER or CURNUM) to do something else like boost, add overdrive, go to the tuner, turn on delay, etc.... The Kemper Stage "morph" function takes that same idea to a whole new level, where you press the current patch button again for different things. My question is, does Helix have any way of doing this "CURNUM" type thing? Thanks

Cool.  I also set the same label for the patch but use the Volume Effects "Gain" block and set the gain to +/-0 so even if I hit it by mistake while in the same preset nothing happens :-)

We can use this as a solo boost but would have to hold the switch down.

I've just begun setting this up today and have a related question.  My goal is to have access to 10 presets and be able to switch between them.

    1)  I set global stomp mode to 10 switches

    2)  I enter command center while on preset 000

    3)  I set the 10 available footswitches to HX Presets 000 to 009 and save the preset

    4)  I toggle on Stomp mode and everything looks as expected

    5)  I select one of the HX presets which loads fine but now my 10 stomp labels are blank

It seems to me to be able to switch between the same 10 presets, that each of these 10 presets command center settings must also have the same 10 HX presets defined.  I got this to work by simply doing a copy and paste of all commands to each of my 000 - 009 HX presets.

It works great but I'm wondering if this was the right/easiest way to make this happen?

    Thanks!

Yes, this. Remember to remove the current patch assignment from each Command Center current foot switch and you will be in great shape.

Just got this setup as well.  Fantastic work around!

I assign the name label for the patch to my COMP block and set it to momentary / red. So even if you press the switch, it won't do anything after you are on the patch. This completes the "10 Patch View" setup. It's seamless transition and ten at your feet. Awesome!

As you are aware, the Helix sets the volume block to 'EXP 2' by default. My suggestion is that as a best practice, you leave it at the default unless you have an incredibly compelling reason not to use that setting. Fighting it is prone to user error and It seems to often lead to problems with assignments. It also means you can't go with the default assignment to 'EXP 1' for example when you add a Wah block. Why put yourself through those gyrations?

It is also worth checking to make sure your global settings --> 'EXP Pedals' -->  'EXP 1/2/3 Pedal Position' is set correctly to your preferred behavior.

Will check EXP behaviors in the settings, thanks.

  9. On my Helix, I'm having this weird issue. I only use the expression pedal for volume, and I set that volume to EXP1 instead of the default EXP2. So I save my presets and all is good for a while, but then the volume pedal stops working even though the volume block is enabled and pointing to EXP1. Has anyone ever seen this before and how do I fix it for good? It's OK here at home but on a gig (Sunday morning) I can't have this happen. Thanks!

Since when you’re hitting any of the footswitches, you’re actually loading a new preset, this means any settings in the preset you’re coming from wouldn’t apply…

What you could do is create a Stomp assignment for the switch that you’d be using for the preset you’re currently in. What I mean by that is that of your 10 footswitches, 9 will be for taking you to different presets, and the 10th is for the preset you’re in now. You could still leave that command, but add a dummy block - a Gain block or something - and assign it to that footswitch. Make sure the preset os saved with that effect turned on, and then the LED indicator should work. When you load the preset, the footswitch for that preset will be lit up.

Worked, set to COMP - momentary - red ring (and named for each current patch). THANK YOU!

  11. OK I tried the "10 patches" setup with Command Center. It's actually REALLY great. I turned on patch spillover (cuts each patch down to one CPU) and everything works perfectly so I now have ten different patches right in front of me at all times with seamless transitions. However there is one pretty big problem.....there is no "ring" indicator as to which patch I'm on when in this mode. It's not even an option. So now I select a patch and the ring of the active patch doesn't light up. Does anyone know a work-around? There's no "customize" feature in this part of Command Center.

Excellent points.  I've been using a snapshot patch I put together and refined over the past few weeks and have 8 snapshots that cover "most" of what I want to do.  None of them use the 2nd DSP chain so going to back to spillover mode and gaining 2 extra patches on the active board plus the other advantages you mentioned seems a smart choice :-)

I have to correct myself. You cannot have ten spillover patches AND ten stomps, since when assigning in Command Center, the ten spillover presets are already set in stomp mode (as the stomps).
