  1. Hi Oskar. Looks like the discussion is at this link under Amplifi Acoustic Tones... http://line6.com/support/topic/5307-ampifi-acoustic-tones/
  2. Thanks for the rundown. Curious, I just patched my Gypsy Jazz guitar (with a German BigTone piezo PU) through the AMPLIFI 150 using the same tones you did. I too found the No Amp the best choice, and in my case, seconded by Line 6 Piezacoustic 2. I found both tones pleasing to the ear. I'd probably use my AER acoustic amp at gigs (smaller, and has extra channel for vocals), but it's good to know the AMPLIFI 150 can hold it's own as a backup. AE
  3. Any song on your IOS device will show up in AMPLIFI's Music Library and then play when selected. It doesn't matter if you bought the song through iTunes or not. You could have loaded it via a burn from your CD, from Amazon etc., or you could have "hijacked" it to your iTunes library, it doesn't matter. As long as you transferred it to your IOS device from your computer's iTunes, it will show up and play from the Music Library. This, however, does not mean it will find a "tone" for every song you play. If the artist or song is lesser-known, then you may receive a "no tone found". If the artist or song is better-known, then chances are you will be offered tone options. Again, it doesn't matter whether you bought the song on iTunes or not. Also, how you mark the song in your iTunes' "genre" seems to matter. For example, I took one rare Jamaican song called Caltone Special and loaded it with two different "genre" settings -- one as "Rocksteady" (the name for an early form of reggae), and the other simply as "Reggae". Sure enough, it found "tone"suggestions for the one marked as "Reggae" and couldn't suggest any tones for the one called "Rocksteady". All said, tone-match is not that sophisticated. It works from the info you provide with your songs and the info available in it's ever-growing data base. As other members here have noted -- it will get better in time as more songs and tones are loaded by the users. I hope this helps. AE
  4. Hi folks. Please vote for this IdeaScale suggestion. Link to Forum through AMPLIFI app A link to the Line 6 AMPLIFI forum within the AMPLIFI app would allow users to quickly check on ideas, operating tips, etc., without having to leave the AMPLIFI app and going to a separate web app on their iPhones or iPads. This link could be located in the main page under "Tools" or in "Settings". Thanks! AE
  5. What Rowbi said is correct. But to add a little more light to the process… OPERATING TIP: Load the tone you want to adjust and go to the “editor†for that tone. (I assume you know how to do this, but if you don’t let me know and I can send you a step-by-step). On the “editor†page, you should see red sliders on the bottom of the page for Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble, etc., and an S-shaped double roll of effects icons on the top of the page. The effects icons are lit up for “on†and subdued for “offâ€. Select any subdued icon other than the delay. The info about the icon (sliders, icon name, on/off button) will come up. To the left of the icon name will be the icon image. Tap on the icon image and tap again where it says <Type. Select the effects you want -- in this case, “Delayâ€, and hit done. Now you will have two delays in your line of effects. Set the effect's perimeters to what you want. (At this point, you may want to refer to the images Phil loaded showing the settings for the two delays) Set your other delay to match the perimeters from Phil’s other delay image. When you’ve finished, drag and drop the effects in the order you want on the S-shaped line. Again, check Phil’s images to see the order of effects. Be sure you turn on the effects you want on and turn off the rest. There you go – now hit “Safe Info†at the bottom of your screen. Name your new tone something new if you don’t want to screw up the original tone, and save to “My Tonesâ€. AE
  6. OPERATION TIP: Here's how I did it: After arranging the effects in the order I wanted, I changed one of the effects I'm not using (the "stomp" in this case) to a second delay. AE
  7. Phil, which "amp" are you using on Pretty Bad? Any chance you could give us a screen shot of the "amp" settings?
  8. I agree that for live performance you can never rely on the website -- or for that matter the bluetooth. For live performance purposes, I see the "amp" part of AMPLIFI as needing to be self-contained not unlike any other amp I own. At a gig, I want to plug my guitar into an amp and have it to work, period -- with whatever hardwired knobs, input and output jacks, and physically changeable presets that come on the amp. I may use the amp to play mp3 music between sets, and I may even use the bluetooth for this, but I wouldn't depend on it -- I'd always have a backup cable to plug directly into the amp. Frankly, in addition to the issues you mentioned about website dependency, I find the bluetooth operations on this unit too "iffy" to depend on during live performances or serious recordings. I have bluetooth connectivity problems with my Bose speaker too, but the issue seem more prevalent with the AMPLIFI. - AE
  9. Glad things are working for you again. Regarding saving original factory presets, I don't know if the following will work (since I didn't save my factory defaults), but it might be worth a try if you haven't done so already: From your AMPLIFI Remote (app) main page, select the "AMPLIFI" section to find your four presets. HIt the circled > at end of tone name which takes you to the editor; hit "save info" at bottom of screen; go to "Title" and put cursor at end of the name, add a space then back space to keep the name the same (or change it if you wish); this will activate the "save" function in the upper left-hand corner; tap on "save" and this will give you the choice to "Save to My Tones". This is pretty basic and I'm sure you already tried this -- but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case you hadn't. AE
  10. Folks, I want to bump this IdeaScale input back up for your votes. Add AB looping during song playback Here's my logic: Since during song play-back the software already allows for half-speed and track repeat, an A/B looping feature would be a perfect and very useful addition to play-back functions. Thanks to your votes, the IdeaScale input for additional presets and/or banks is now being reviewed. Since the A/B suggestion is just a software adjustment, perhaps it too could reach "review" status with your votes and comments on the IdeaScale. Thanks! AE Add AB looping during song playback
  11. Here are a couple I've published. Not everyone's cup of tea, but they help to serve some of my needs... CC @ Mintons (linked to the Charlie Christian song Swing To Bop from the CD 1941 Historical Performances At Minton's Playhouse) This is my take on the sound of the 1939 Gibson ES-150 during live recordings of Charlie Christian at after-hour jams at Minton's in NYC (circa 1941) 63 Fender Vibroverb Jazz (linked to the George Barnes Quartet song When Sunny Gets Blue from the CD Don't Get Around Much Anymore) This tone really doesn't have a clear link with George Barnes but it was a tone I wanted to publish representing the sound of a 63 Fender Vibroverb. It works okay for G.Barnes and other 60's inspired jazz/pop sounds, but mostly I use it as a default tone for everything from jump-blues to reggae/ska/rocksteady. Here's another tone I like which I did not develop/publish. It was already there. Ventures surf lead (linked to the Ventures song Apache) from the CD Ventures Gold. This is classic surf tone -- especially sweet on the bridge pickup of a vintage Strat.
  12. Here's what the statement from the earlier post said. (This quote is from a posting on this forum by a father about the amp and his son. It's under the topic/thread Good Review) "...agree with the idea of having a dedicated output port as my son has already figured out how to route the output to his input device to the DAW." I think it sounds like he might have used the headphone jack. AE
  13. Phil -- those screen shots are great! Agree with MJC that it would be cool to see screen shots of Swirly Twin. MJC -- Perhaps you could take your note suggestion to Line 6 and move it over the IdeaScale at http://line6.ideascale.com/ I'd vote for it! AE
  14. Okay, thanks Charly. I was wondering that myself. I just did the "update", it took 45 minutes to go through the process, and after I rebooted the app and the amp, when I checked the "About AMPLIFI" it still said version 1.00.1. I think it's not updating the info there. Good news is that none of my tones or choices have been affected. I'm going to leave it alone and hope I've done the firmware update correctly. When Line 6 puts out another update that may actually have some features (like maybe more banks or preset options), it will be easier to assess if the update is taking hold. AE
  15. To JMJMEYERS -- It appears I was wrong when I said I've updated my firmware to V1.00.5. I plan to do so soon and can let you know if it affects my tone settings. According to the detail writeup about the upgrade it says" AMPLLIFI V1.00.5 makes a number of improvements to Bluetooth communications between the app and the AMPLIFI. It is recommended that all customers complete this update. What's new? -- Improvements to Bluetooth connectivity when coming in and out of range; -- Improvements to Bluetooth data connectivity when the app return to the IOS foreground." AE
  16. AH HA!! When I check About Amplifi it says I only have 1.00.1. So, it looks like HAVEN'T installed the 1.00.5 update and it will take about 45 minutes to do so. I'll try that soon and keep my fingers crossed I don't loose anything... AE
  17. When I go to my apps Settings>Amp Flash>; it shows Amp Flash Version 1.00.5. When I tap on "Show Previous Releases", it shows originally I had Ver 1.00 and now have Ver 1.00.5 (installed). I don't know if that helps; but that's what I got! AE
  18. If you'd like to change your pre-set tones...you could find a buddy with an iPhone, invite him over for some beer and pizza, and while he's there, borrow his phone and use the app to find and change your pre-sets to some other tones. AE
  19. Also, check out the sound clips Phil recorded yesterday using a Sennheiser E609. Sounds damn good to me! AE http://line6.com/support/topic/5915-some-amplifi-clips/
  20. I upgraded to the new firmware and it didn't affect my presets, My Tones, or Favorites. However, here are a couple of thoughts. Save your preset tones to My Tones. This way if you change them later you can always find the ones you used previously. Also, if you want to change your amp back to factory settings, this can be done by pressing and holding the Master Volume knob and Tone button as you power up the amp. OPERATING TIP: (BTW, here's a tip: From the main page of the app, go to "Settings>About AMPLIFI Remote>AMPLIFI Remote Support>" to find specs and various info about both the 75 and 150 models. At the bottom of the page is a FAQ with other useful info) AE
  21. Wow, sorry to hear that emixonline. I think there are issues with your amp. I'd take it back. How it should work is like this: After starting up the amp, all four lights are dimly lit for about three seconds. Then preset "A" blinks for another two seconds (as the "Tone" light comes on). After two seconds, the "A" preset quits blinking and goes "on" steady; BCD are off by then. Also, when the "A" preset goes steady, the "Tap" button starts blinking and the big volume knob shows the red volume level -- at about four notches. At this point the amp is ready for use and you should be able to plug in your guitar and select the preset you want to use. AE
  22. It's as Charly says, you should find a save to hardware. Here's a step-by-step explanation of the process: OPERATING TIP: You go to the tones you've saved in My Tones, select the tone you want (a speaker icon will show up in front of it and the tone will be highlighted with a red banner), and select "Save to Hardware" at the top of the list of tones. This will show you the four presets you have on your amp. Select the one you want to replace and it will be replaced with your new tone. AE
  23. I just checked on the IdeaScale link to this suggestion and -- yahoo! -- it has been elevated to "In Review" status! Thanks everyone who voted for this. Now... to keep our fingers crossed to see if it's implemented. AE
  24. Thanks Phil for the sound samples. Sounds great ... thru my 150! I've been wondering how well a Sennsheiser E609 would work. Now I know. And I agree, plenty of volume from the 150 (at least for my needs) AE
