  1. If your amp uses a standard 1/4 inch TRS style switching you can use an external device with midi like the voodoo lab control switcher or similar device with midi to switch your amp channels. I use a decibel eleven loop expander and use one of the loops to change channels on my Mesa Mark V 25.

The 5150 already has midi, so you just set which channel you want per program change message. You don't need the advance CC messages. Just set per patch, the 5150 manual shows you how to set the amp channel via standard program change using midi learn on the amp.

You only need CC to bypass the effects loop via midi.

  2. You can use it with an expression pedal(I do). The M series are picky on what pedals you can use with them, so check compatibility before buying an expression pedal.

I use the very cheap Line 6 pedal, it works just fine for me.

You can't turn the pedal on and off though via the expression pedal, But you can use midi to turn the M5 On and Off.

I have a switch Dr(it sends midi), so patch 3 has M5 enabled without wah, patch 4 , same patch with wah on. I am sure you get the idea...

  3. I have a M9 that I used mostly for modulation some other effects. I also have a TC Electronic Nova drive that has a MIDI input. Can I use the M9 to change the presets on the Nova drive? Because of the layout, they are hard to reach to change the presets. If it can, how would iIsetup the MIDI changes. Thx,

The Midi out on the M series pedals is crippled. It's only real use is for dumping your data out of the pedal.

Why they did not implement a a proper midi out/thru on these is unknown and quite a shame...

You can always get a separate midi controller, and an external midi merge box and control both units via the stand alone controller.

  4. So why can't we make comments on tones that we upload immediately?

I posted a tone several years ago, and around a week ago, the option(Click to edit) showed up out of nowhere! (Yay)

So I posted 2 more tones, and no option to add comments :(

    Why is this?

  5. Can anyone explain the popping noise I get when using each sample rate 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 KHz? I'm connecting my POD HD Pro X to the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 and using the S/PDIF ins/outs between both.

Your clock source in your DAW and or the focusrite utility should be set to the S/PDIF and not internal when connected to the POD.

  6. Modelers are Modelers and Amp are Amps.

They both have their place, and neither is going to replace the other. They are both tools to be used as such.

I would keep your HD500 and spend the $2000 on a very nice tube amp.

I own the HD500 and have used both a Kemper and an AxeFX , Along with UAD amp plugins etc.. All are really great, but they are modelers, you get the same kind of ear "fatigue" after using them for long periods that you get using the HD500. They just start to sound a little fake after extended use.

You have to really decide what you are after. Gigging at clubs, want to blow the audiences face off? Buy a tube amp half or full stack.

Strictly recording? A nice combo along with your modeler of choice will cover a lot of ground.

  7. The Midi on the M9 is very poor at best, But excellent on the TF, so your best bet is to use the M9 first in the chain as it can really only send out program change messages (and limited to about 24 of those), Once the signal goes into the TF you can route it any way you like from there.

  8. I had the same issue. How is your stereo mix setup? Are you running your tones strictly mono?

I found the headphone mix sounded great, as well as when output via Sp/DIF. I was using a lot of dual amp tones.

When sending out to an amp and using the internal mixer in the POD to blend the two, it sounded awful. I added a small behringer mono mixer to my setup, sending both L/R from the pod to the mixer then a mono signal from the mixer to the power amp, and it matched the tone's coming from the headphone out or digital out.

  9. I just picked up a used M9 and I am trying to update the firmware.

I have a Focusrite 2i4 interface. I can send midi to and from the M9 to my computer(program changes work both ways) but when loading up the Monkey software, I get 8000000A, that it can't communicate.

I know it can communicate, I can change patches from my DAW on the M9 and can read midi data incoming on my PC when changing patches on the M9.

So is this a limitation of the Monkey software ?(it sure seems so), and if so what is EXACTLY required to get a successful communication happening 100% between a computer and the M9.

My computer is modern and up to date(I7, 16GB ram etc,,) Windows 8.1

  10. Sorry if this is not supposed to go here, but thought I would put it out there.

Selling a 3 month old POD HD PRO X Rackmount with a FBV II Foot controller.

    $700(CDN) + shipping from Toronto , Canada.

Both are 3 months old, in excellent condition, I'm moving and don't want to transport these with me, and they just won't be getting any use else wise.

PM me if you are interested.

  11. On the customtone website just click on the title of the particular tone of yours that you want to edit and it'll bring up a page with all of the fields you can enter data into.

Thanks , does not look to work in Chrome, guess i will try another browser.

  12. so I did not want to buy the pod x for 20% more dsp and a fancy foot switch, most times I don't need extra dsp but some times, any way I bought a zack wydle wah and I must say this wah kick lollipop on the pod wahs, now I want to add one more pedal, any suggestions, I don't run the 4 cable method, and have some great tones, I was thinking a eq pedal but I have look a pro set ups and none of them have a eq Maybe because the have a sound man? Should I get a eq to put out front of the pod?

Or what about a distortion pedal black star has some good ones, a volume pedal I will get that's a easy pick and there you have it I am saving more then 20 % dsp and will be the first in line when your line 6 or yamaha come out with I new model I am guessing in 2015; so any suggestions on what pedal to put out front thank your taking the time to read, rock on

I run an Eventide H9 in the loop of the HD PRO X. Sounds amazing and adds a lot of flexibility with dual amp setups as far as DSP usage is concerned. They just announces a new H9 model for NAMM that is cheaper then the current model.

  13. Not sure I could see a practical application for switching output modes , How many scenarios can you have where you need to switch your output on the fly? If your playing live, your setup for your live rig, in the studio and going direct, setup for direct.

What scenarios are you using where you need to switch this instantly ?
