  1. Can u connect to the rack with the floor unit USB completely disconnected?
  2. See http://line6.com/support/topic/16994-need-expression-pedal-help/ I rewired one of mine but have not tried it yet as Im still waiting for my Helix...
  3. Heres another comparison done a few months ago...
  4. Well you don't design a car around a spark plug do ya? ;)
  5. Amazing! Thanks for the test. Tells me that the HD still has some life left in her!
  6. Im contemplating a what if, you ran the stereo outs of the Helix into the stereo monitor inputs of the Firehawk 1500, and then ran the "Buffered guitar out" of the Helix Rack unit into the guitar input of the FH-1500? Then you should be able to run stereo Heiix sounds into the FH-1500 as well as use the FH-1500 sounds "straight from" your guitar only, and then also use the center horn as well! Then if you wanted to, you could use a volume pedal and gradually lower or raise the volumes of either unit (or any effect) as you see fit via controller pedals. OMG the options here are mind blowing the more I consider it. What say you?
  7. My GOD you the floorboard "and" the rack too!?!? Lucky booger...
  8. It depends on what you already have, and its almost as fast IMHO. BUT- Id much MUCH rather have a "Heel-down" off setting like Axe FX II and Kemper already have, so that the toe switch (or any other wah on switch) isn't even needed. Add the pitch freq tone on setting and you can't even tell "pitch wise" when its on, until its rocked forward. Then add the % of when its turned on and off, say adjust to10% of the rocked forward position. Then add the pitch freq. at the toe down position, and then you have the ability to customize the exact tones of your wah from low to high. Then add a vector curve for how the wah sweeps and you have the curve of the pitch sweep from low to high. And In this way you can add the Wah on EVERY patch you want to, and if you don't feel the need to use it just don't rock that pedal or click any switch. I already have the EP1-L6 Mission pedal, and a modified Mission pedal with the spring, so Im setup as soon as Line 6 adds this "much needed" function (If they do, and it would be ashamed if they didnt)...
  9. Hard for me to tell honestly, partly because of the playing style but they are close. I am hearing some of what bart said with the harshness or "hardness" in the tone. Not a WAY-HUGE difference, but there is that hardness I hear, esp. since we are all trying to "knats-lollipop" the tones on your recordings. OTOH I am 100% sure however that Helix has the ability to leave the HD and many others in the dust in a multitude of ways simply because of its 2nd DSP processor and latest circuit architecture, 4 stereo paths etc etc... But Ill guess B is Helix. Just sounds a bit warmer to me.
  10. Another alternative is get the controller board, altho it will work as Peter suggested. The regular Line-6 EP1-L6 Mission pedal should be fine then, and to switch it on and off you should be able to assign a function switch on the Helix Controller board for Wah, to turn it off and on. Of course, if you do NOT have the Controller for the Rack Helix then follow Peters advice as its the only way you can turn it off and on that I know of, other that switching patches.
  11. I watched the "Advanced Signal Routing with Helix" http://www.geartube.net/video/wykAx5Voj7Y, video and it was impressive, but was wondering if Helix had the same quality level of effect sounds "without" having to purchase those extra $500.00+ pair of pedals?
  12. Thats the same thing Im fighting here, by owning a pair of 500 watt Atomic CLR's already. I really want to try the Firehawk 1500, but why?.....
  13. To be fair, the FC7 came out in what 2010? So don't blame Yamaha for the mixup lol....
  14. I noticed there was no Line-6 Link on the Firehawk 1500 and I half expected there to be. Anyway, question is, is this nice looking FRFR combo amp a poor choice and just over kill in using it with Helix?
  15. Is that one foot switch per patch that u can do this to , or multiple foot switches per patch?
  16. Thanks for this... On the KPA (with version 3.x) Boost is added to a switch to help "boost" a lead part. But with Helix it seems there are lots of other ways as shown above.
  17. I own a Tyler Variax and and older one too. Both do Alternate tunings (drop and otherwise) very very well. Id go that route with Helix for a no hassle experience.
  18. No, no need for that. Nothing wrong with being fair to both sides for their accomplishments either...
  19. Thanks for the reply. Ive used some of Fractals tone matching patches, and seen them made on Youtube. They are outstanding to say the least about them. I get the hint that you are wanting to dismiss this as nothing more than a 90's version of some cheap software and I think its a bit more than this and worth another look. Nothing wrong with being proud of your business and their work (and I love what the competition has brought forth), but that would be a mistake to assume others are like 90's era software. In fact, I do hope that Helix will have the same quality of "Tone-matching" ability as the Axe FX II does now, at some point. ;)
  20. Then maybe Frank can give us a status report at the end of March if it's not out yet. Hey as long as it's being worked on is a good thing, but I wonder if it's delayed so that its release coincides with the hardware backlog ship dates?
  21. Do you get a "saved" message on the Helix display after you save the scribble text? If so I'd say without knowing for certain its a bug, ie it's not being saved correctly with its associated patch.
  22. Tone matching on an Axe fx II involves more than just a cab emulated tone. I assume that's what you mean by just an IR?
