Helix into Effects Out VS dedicated Power Amp + Cab

It's the Cab that does the coloring more so than the amp. I seriously doubt that you'd hear much of a difference using a dedicated power amp instead of the Engl. Also, you likely have your Helix connected to the Engl's Effect In, not the out... unless you're running 4CM. If not, connecting the Helix to the Engl's Effects Out would produce no sound. Just sayin'...

Helix Tape Saturation like Strymon Deco

Not sure it’s possible to replicate that effect with the existing amps and overdrives. So I suggested this - https://line6.ideascale.com/a/ideas/search?templateId=0&query=Tape+saturation+

Why only 60 seconds for the looper?

For my purposes, I wouldn’t expect the Helix’s built in looper to get any better than it is. I already want something from dedicated loopers that I may never get - a dry kill switch. When I use my RC-20XL with my Helix, the looper’s dry signal mixes with the signal that the Helix is already passing through and causes some phase cancellations. If I had a dry kill switch on the RC, this wouldn’t be an issue.

Cool! Was that Vinnie Colaiutta (sp?) on the kit?

😂 I’m with you there. The only thing I’ve used in 2.30 is the SP Comp. Ha!

    Competition for Helix?!?

Here's the bottom line. If a pedal has an effects loop, that pretty much enables it for 4CM.

    Competition for Helix?!?

Huh? I’ve owned a GT-5, 6 & 8 and 4CM has always been doable on all of them and the I/O on this GT-1000 isn’t much different. The only real difference is that it has XLR connectors and an extra effects loop. Although I never owned either, I know that the GT-10 & 100 are no exception to this. All you need to do 4CM is an effects loop. In fact the early GT series were some of the first few pedals that encouraged players to use 4CM. So, I have to ask, what in tarnation are you talking about???

Helix Right or Left angled Power Cord

I think I saw one of those there too. Have a look around, man.

Still looking for the “controversial†part of this update. I guess we’ll see when it’s released.

Expression pedal question for the pro programmers

The first two are preamps only - not amps. Yes, some of the HK amps will allow this but most of the functionality on most tube amps that have Midi seems limited to just channel switching. The ones that have more functionality seem pretty few and far between. And are horribly expensive.

Try that with a tube amp. 😂

    2.31 Release Date

I’m with you on that sentiment. I updated to 2.30 but the only thing I’ve changed is my use of the SP Comp on my patches.

    Multiband Compressor....temproary Band-Aid???

Have you thought about maybe borrowing a guitar temporarily?

    Multiband Compressor....temproary Band-Aid???

I’m afraid that there is no electronic solution to that issue. It sounds like your guitar needs fret leveling and maybe a truss rod adjustment. From what you describe, it sounds like you play a lot of open D and G chords. Hence the wear at the second and third frets. I think that there is no option other than taking your guitar to a luthier. Sorry.

no undo-button or -command for last step changes?

^^THIS!^^I remember that feature as well. Not only was it a useful feature, it was efficient and elegant.

    2.31 Release Date

Yes, but I'd bet that they only modeled the preamp. For all intents and purposes, the power amp is irrelevant when it comes to an acoustic guitar's tone.

    2.31 Release Date

Well, acoustic amps don’t really have an innate sound of their own unlike electric guitar amps. Acoustic amps are essentially very similar to most FRFR systems except that their preamp sections have specific controls to help deal with piezo quack and feedback issues. It would be more practical if Line 6 included a Preamp with those same controls but modeling the rest of the amp won’t do anything to improve your acoustic sound at all.

I think an Edit/Compare option would be more useful. This may be difficult with the actual Helix but I think would be doable in the editor and Helix Native. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Edit-Compare/820832-23508
