  1. Hi guys !

I am searching for a fairly priced 212 combo to go with HD500X.

Just wondering if anyone is using it with Bugera 333XL 212 combo  and if yes then please be this kind and drop a few words on how well this sounds together ? Or any suggestions of other combos that sound really well with 500X .

    Cheers and Respect !

I've done some reading and some of the 333xl's had some issues. Of course there's always the chance of a problem. That goes for any amp. I want to try one out now, lol.

There's some video's on YouTube about some issues with connector that supplies power and it needing attention.

  2. Hi guys,

Sorry to bother you with this topic. I've got fairly modest equipment ( Yamaha Pacifica and Peavey Studio Pro 112) which I would like to use with my POD HD500X. I would like to avoid using the cab/head sim thing seeing that I'm going to be using my Peavey combo but I don't really know anything about how to chain pedals in order to get the most out of my gear. Apart from the pedals, the only thing left is the mixer so I would like to know whether I should place the pedals before or after the mixer. Help please !! I've struggling for months to get a decent sound out of POD HD500X and I'm on the verge of selling it :(

I think the Peavey combo has an FX loop so you should be able to try using that. You should be able to just go into the front of the amp too. The 4CM can be messy and tweaky. You can always try it to see if you like it.

You said you don't want to use the amp/cabs sims so sure you can turn them off and just use FX.

  3. I like the screamer and tube drive but I like the others too.

I was just fooling around with using the amps distortion by controlling the amps drive and volume with the on board pedal and I think I'm liking the gradual distortion I can get in around the middle of the pedal range. I can go from clean to heavy duty distortion from min pedal to max pedal and I use the guitar's volume to tame it even more. I was using the SLO 100 Overdrive and Bomber Uber. I adjust the cab (low cut 100, res 50-100, decay 0, thump 60, sag 0, hum 0) and run studio direct. I toy with the cab setting's to find different tones. Usually use off axis sm57 but try different cabs and mic combos.

This is the link to the Gearbox download. I have it installed on a Win 10 laptop and it still works for me. I see they state, "OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8" but it works for me on Win 10.

  6. Right !

Thanks a bunch guys all taken into consideration!

I have found the circuit board has a little damage like one of the printed conductive "ways or runs" if you like ,actually come off the board and its no longer attached to the circuit board. I have seen this sort of damage before and its normally caused by overheating ,and overheating normally happens when there is a short circuit somewhere along the line . also after a close inspection a have found a melted Return Jack input which probably was causing the short circuit .

Now i will have to order a new jack to replace the lollipopped one :)  and bridge the path to the nearest safe point and see if i can have my Return loop returned!!!   :)

    Respect  !!!

Your post sounds like you know what your lollipopin' doing. Kudos to you. Best wishes on replacing the lollipoped up components.

    Respect !!!

  7. Anyone know if there will be any new/updated jam tracks/drum loops released? It's been along while since any software updates...

I don't think the SJ is going to get anymore attention in that respect. If it does I would be happy, that's for sure.

  8. Hoping this might help someone else.

I was just having some practice fun with this little amp and modeling. I made a dual path and set up a nice dirt amp to take the path to the Aux input on the Spider Jam. Then on the other path sent another cleaner amp to take the path to the guitar input on the Spider Jam and set the model to the "green" clean amp, without playing with the SJ's amp model tone stack.

In order to get both paths on the SJ to work separately I had to make sure the record setting was set to 'Mic".

I had the HD500 master at 50% and the SJ master set to 50% also.

The HD500's output was set to Studio Direct and the Input 1 Guitar > Input 2 Variax.

Since the SJ can only record either the guitar in or mic/aux at one time I can record micing the amp with another device such as my X3 Pro, which I still have to try micing it.

Has anyone else done this sort of thing yet with the Spider Jam?

Just trying something different and figured I would share it, carry on.

  9. You plug the speakers straight into the pod.

It almost sounds like stringbender94 is using a laptop and is trying to monitor with those speakers. If this is the case I would forget about the computer speakers and get at least one powered speaker and use the 1/4" l mono analog out from the pod

  10. HD -> Powered Speaker, Power amp/cab, Head/cab (into fx or 4cm), Combo (into fx or 4cm). 4CableMethod btw.

    or

    Use the Spider.

Never did the spider one myself but what the Brazzmaster sez is true 1/4 guitar cable with adaptor (whatever size) into the mp3 input. I feel its not a long term solution but it may give you a feel for a Powered Speaker or Traditional amp style cab.

    -B

I was surprised at how well that CD/mp3 jack on the Spider sounded. It's definitely the power section. I don't know about the Spider IV but the Spider Jam has a CD level setting. It's possible it's like the my Spider III 15 amp and it's wide open so if you go into the CD/mp3 jack make sure you have the master turned down on the amp and on whatever instrument you plug into it first so you get a loud pop.

  11. I don't think there is an FX return on the Spider IV 75. I searched the amp and there is no other port to plug in except 'guitar'

I think someone else mentioned to use the CD/mp3 input as it's like going into the power section of the Spider amp.

  12. I don't know for sure about the Spider Jam but I do know that the CD/MP3 input in the POD products can't be recorded over the POD's USB connection to the DAW. That's because the CD/MP3 analog input signal is passed directly to the device outputs. It is not converted within the POD to a digital format and hence is not available for the USB output.

Thanks for explaining the Pod part of it silverhead. I'm going to see what I can get the Sider Jam to do at some point.

  13. I don't think it can be done. I have a beat buddy and when I get some time I'll see if I can record the guitar and unprocessed drums at the same time with the Spider Jams recorder but if I recall correctly I had trouble trying to do it a while ago and gave up. I usually just plug the BB into the CD/mp3 jack and play along with the drums and then mic the amp using a mic and my X3 Pro or HD500 or just using a USB mic into my computer.

  14. also, the drum volume thing works, but when I turn off the amp it defaults to 100% again.  Any way to change this?

I set mine to 3%, turned it off and on and checked it, it stayed at 3%. So the one I have here is saving it. I'm using the latest firmware.

  15. If I recall correctly there is only 3 minutes and 20 something seconds of recording available. The work around I did for this was to save my first 8 measure to the SD card and then save my second 8 measures to the SD card. Then i would ope them in Audacity and copy and paste them into to the track in the order and length I wanted them. Then save the track back to the SD card and load into the Spider jam. Hope this helps

Ok I must be doing something different. I was choosing a drum set and then going to recording and just recording guitar with drums. I can get up to 24 minutes of recording. When I get done with a riff I save it to the SD card as a WAV file and then move on to the next recording then save that and so on till I'm done then I'll take the SD card put in my computer and sort it out in my DAW.

  16. couple of questions that I can't find answers to:

    1) when setting the drum vs guitar output level for backing tracks, etc., is there a way to save your settings as a default so the drums are not always at 100% volume?  I find that 100% volume really drowns out any guitar output

    2) How can you make, for example, a 5 minute song wtihout every part looping over and over? Example: I chose a back beat, recorded rhythm chords for 8 measures.  recorded another guitar part for 8 measures.  Then I soloed over it...BUT if I choose to record the solo, after the initial 8 measures it loops again and I'm soloing over my recorded solo (if you follow me).  How can I either extend the backing tracks to not loop continuously but rather record 8 measures or whatever, and then extend that to be 24 measures so I can have a longer solo session?

I may not be the best for this but I'll try to help. As far as I know when I set the drum volume it stays put until I move it again. As for the loop length, if you know about how long your recording is going to be try making a blank (say 5 minute) recording then use that as you base and add to it as needed.

This is how I do it but maybe there's a better way I'm not understanding.
