This is about wet/dry. Might be a little informative. Then again maybe you know.

Hi,
I have a nice tone setup - but need to add a noise gate, but don't have any tone blocks left to add an effect. How can I add a new block?
Good question though, do you think if you stick a noise gate between your guitar and the Pod's input or in the effects loop somewhere it would be better? You should buy one and try it if you can.

I used the Dual Bias Tester from AMP-HEAD once to check plate voltage and bias of my DT50HD. I thought it was worth the bucks to keep me safer.
I checked their web site and they don't offer the PV switch for the EL 84 probe anymore.

Do you have it hooked up like this yet?

Today I brought my JBL Speakers out of the closet and hooked them up to my POD X3. Tried listening to a CD but unfortunately it does not sound right. The sound is very weak, like it's missing power or something. I can't see anything wrong. The ASIO POD X3 Driver is selected, to me everything looks like it is set correct, but it sounds pretty pale.
I may have to abandon this idea.
Are these JBL's powered or do they need an amp?

cheers dude! much clearer than any i had managed to find... ;)
Cheers back to ya dude! Also in case you need to go back to default amp settings.

As far as saving tones. I think it only saves amp configuration (topology) and they're saved immediately. It doesn't save knob settings.

Hi Guys
i bought a DT25 a while back and it never had the card on top with the settings.
does anyone have a photo or pdf of this that they can send me please???
i have the unofficial midi editor... can't seem to find a way to save my tones. is that possible???
Here ya go.

The guy in that thread was using the Boss RC300 Loop Station as a MIDI controller, though...it might work, but I'm not sure the OP in this case is looking for a $500 solution.
There are $30 "tap tempo" pedals out there for units that have a dedicated input specifically for that purpose...but the POD ain't one of 'em.
There may be other cheaper MIDI foot controller options that could do the same thing, but I drifted away from those years ago. Not sure what to suggest...research time.
Ok that explains the modification in "Mad Lab Mods" Facebook page. I suppose if there is a will there is way.
-
I guess I should clarify my specific question is "Can I use an external tap tempo pedal?".
I think you can. These may help, http://line6.com/support/topic/1746-external-tap-tempo/ and this HD500 Mod.

Maybe you can try to fix a piece of foam rubber over it to dampen the noise. There's so many types of foam rubber if you put a little sweat into it you might be able to get something that works for you. Use those creative juices and see what you can come up with.

I think you'll need to run the 'License Manager" and authorize your computer.

Looking to buy DT head, but want to have flexibility to use my own cab IRs when recording. Is the cab emulation on the output fixed, or can it be turned off?
Thanks
The cab emulation can be turned off. You need either an HD Pod with L6 or MIDI connection or a MIDI cable and DT Edit to access it. One other way is an iPad or iPhone with DT Customizer and MIDI IN (Line 6).

Okay then, that fine.
When that's the case, it's how you know that, between that and bias,...
... that's as close as it gets.
Ok Cool, thanks.

"I've bought my EH el84's in matched quartets, and then used a pair at a time"---
That works, that's fine.
The differences you're seeing is normal and expected, that's what dialing-in the bias is all about.
You can try taking the tubes and switching them to opposite sockets between them and see if it brings
the differences a little closer. It's an old analog tube amp trick used since the 1960's, used with push-pull
class tube amps back in the day. Sometimes,... sometimes it's useful.
I tried to switch the tubes and I still had the same 4mv difference. In my case it didn't change anything. Also, it was the DT50.

just hoping for some clarification on what kind of tube voltage differences are "allowable" when biasing the DT-25. I've bought my EH el84's in matched quartets, and then used a pair at a time. After my third tube change, I've noticed that the voltage difference between V2 and V3 can be up to 5mV. This latest swap left me at 22.4mV for V2 and 27.8mV for V3. Is this acceptable? DT-25 is rated 25mV+-3. does that mean one can be 22 and the other 28?
This is interesting to me. I have a DT50HD that petered out early in it's life. So I ordered matched EH tubes, purchased a tool so I could bias it and I had a similar 4mv difference in the power tubes. So if the tubes were supposed to be matched there must've been something else wrong or the tubes just weren't matched very well. In the end for me the amp petered out again with the new tubes which didn't have any real time on them at all and it went back to Line 6 to get sorted out.
When I got the amp back it worked and sounded great so I didn't touch anything. I was curious to check the bias and see what it was when it came home but I bit the bullet and left it alone so I don't know how matched they were or what the difference was in mv's between the tubes.

Hi, guys. I'm wanting to control my Spider IV 75's presets with my PodHD500, but it doesn't have an Ethernet export. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but I can't seem to figure out. Anyone have any ideas? I use my presets more than anything, but I didn't want to have to get rid of my PodHD500 to get an MKII, because I don't ONLY use that amp. Help, please! Thank you.
It's a good question but the HD500 won't control the Spider Amp. You need one of the FBV's. You could run the Pod into the Amp and use the Pod for your patches but I'm not sure which way you should do it. You might be able to bypass the Amp's preamp by using the CD/mp3 jack. I'm pretty sure that's like the power amp part of the Spider. It's that or try to create the cleanest patch you can with the amps models and go into that with the Pod.

I can confirm that Gearbox works on windows 10.
Me too. Gearbox works on Win 10 here.

Yes the POD is on but i can't hear a sound...I think I remember installing the latest patch before I got this issue! But I'm not sure...
I'll try to downgrade the POD and give you a feedback soon :) thank you!
I'm not sure if it will help but you could try to rebuild the patch in another blank unused set list first before you try to re-flash the firmware. Keep in mind I have the HD500 not the 500X.

I just found this while looking for information on the Pod Pro's FX loop and...
Guys, dbagchee, silverhead... the Pod Pro doesn't have any FX block. It has a stereo FX loop, but its position is fixed, and certainly, not configurable or represented in any way on any of the editors (Sound Diver, L6 Edit, Midiquest) or the unit's own interface.
The Pod Pro is not the Pod HD Pro. The topic is misplaced.
There's so many Pod's specifics become very important.

-
Thank you,... thought I caught that.
Done, corrected. Thanks.
Glad to help. I'll be checking the knowledge base for updates as I think you said you'll be adding to it at a later date.
-
The video on biasing is pretty good. Check for other video tutorials.
Bias is on the Knowledge Base,... 25mV +/-3mV.

Never power up a tube amp with the correct output load on it.
Do you mean to say "without the correct output load"?
I'm not busting stones but sometimes words can throw people off.
BTW, Any info you share I appreciate.

Thank you for your advice :)
The PSU seems to be ok...I mean the POD works just fine! Its more like the issue is in the fx loop. Is there any other way how i can plug the POD into the Terror except only over the input port of the amp?
Ok. You said when you turned the pod on there was nothing. Do you mean no sound but the pod was on. Maybe you have a corrupt patch and need to try to rebuild it. A couple times I built patches I ran into a glitch that would reset the mixer volume to mute. I don't know why. I rebuilt the patches and one time I re-flashed the firmware and ditched saving my old patches. Basically started over fresh and rebuilt my patches taking my time with the settings and saving.
-
That would trow me for a loop too. I don't have any answer for you but you might want to do a support ticket or call Line 6 tech. It's possible you might have a power supply failure. Can you check to see if your PSU is ok?
Who sold all their pedals and went HD500X?

I never had pedals, just jumped into the X3 Pro and HD500. I got a few pedals after that though, lol.
