  1. haha, thanks for the help.  :) one question, what exactly reAmping means?

and second thing, I've been reading some things on the forums tonight regarding HD500X (which I was definitely planning to buy this week) ... and I think like I'm starting to concider the older POD X3 Live as a potential buy too... this was due to the fact that HD500X doesn't have the possibility of direct wet and dry signal recording straight via the USB, and X3 despite being an older model has this feature. Also, the used X3 is at least half of the HD500X price these days. Plus, as Brazzy mentioned himself, maybe having the X3 would basically mean it could completely replace the UX2 as the audio interface (except the phantom power feature), and in that case, maybe I could sell the UX2 and make myself a low expense in the end. As I understood, the X3 offers more amps, sims, fx tones, but they are more digital sounding in comparison to HD500X which has fewer of that, but better quality and feel a little bit closer to real amp. So since I see you guys are experts (at least from my point of view), can you please tell me your thoughts about the possability of buying X3 instead of HD500X, or it just isn't the deal? Many people praised the X3 as a very good processor even vs. the later HD500 in some ways. Btw, I'm into the alternative and progressive rock mostly. Sorry if this is a little bit off topic, and I know there is a lot about it on the net, but I really would like to hear your thoughts about the X3 / HD500 choice.

    cheers  :)

I was thinking about what you said here. I would say think about warranty. If your buying used there's no warranty. I do like the X3 Series and wanted the X3 Live but ended up with the Pro, forget why exactly, the Lives may've been sold out.

The HD's models sound better to me though. It's a tough decision for me since I have both. I use the HD more than the X3 these days. but I'll break out the X3 every now and then. IMO, the X3 has tones the HD doesn't.

The X3 may be the way to go for you. You already know it since you've had the UX2 and it has the feature you want. You could save money for sure. Ultimately it's choice to make. Whatever happens I hope you get what you want.

PS: I really liked how the X3 Live looked. That pedal was cool!

  2. I was just planning to buy a decent condenser mic too, so I could record vocals and acoustics. Ok, I didn't know that, it's very important for me to know. So I guess that means selling UX2 is off, if I can't use the HD500X with the condenser mic, then it's definitely better to keep the UX2 rather than sell it.

Yeah you might want to keep it and try the new mic with your UX2 to see what kind of tones you can obtain. I had a lot of fun with Gearbox and my AKG Perception 420. You could also ReAmp two speakers with it at the same time. The UX2 is a very cool device. Since I still have my X3 Pro I basically have everything the UX2 had so I was good by giving the UX2 to my nephew.

  3. I think your referring to the "Q". The Q narrows or widens a particular frequency range. You should just try it out, example make a riff and record using the looper then play said riff and then go the GEQ and choose a freq range and completely cut it by turning gain all the way down and then narrow and widen the Q.

I hope I explained that right but by testing like this you can actually hear what kind of effect it has to your tone.

  4. thanks "Br"..

seems that the way you sympathetically consider me is already reflected officially in my forum label,... I've been promoted.

Hahaha Sorry 'bout that. My fingers were faster than my eyes, LOL. I was wondering if you were going to catch that before I edited it. Your more than a GURU!

  5. I think an Old-Rocker is gonna have some fun! We've all been in the line 6 learning mode so your not alone, and guess what??? it doesn't matter how old you are there's always something that's overlooked every now and then.

    Hope you have fun Old-Rocker.

  6. lol... sometimes using systems more limited in the effective frequency range they can reproduce can be an advantage..

like having both low and high cut filters with fixed settings built in

True, I should try both together next time. Keep in mind I didn't say they sounded really bad. :)

  7. My HD500 will have to die before I get rid of it, lol, and I would try to fix it first before that, hahahaha. I also have the DT50HD with one DT25 Cab and it sounds fantastic.

I never did try the FRFR thing. I've plugged into a Bose set up and cheap stereo speaker cab and amp I put together, the cheaper one sounded better, lol.

Off Topic: Recently got a Zoom MS-100BT and plugged that into the Aux in on my Spider Jam and could not believe my ears. I was blown away with how good it sounded dirty and clean. Gave me the goose bumps since I didn't really have to tweak much at all. Then I watched a video on the device web page of the creator Tommy Bolan, lol. Holy lollipop Man!

In the end I really like the HD500 and it will be placed on my chest as they 86 me, lol. Jus Kidd'in. lol

  8. When I got the HD500 I ended up not really using the UX2 at all. I used them both at the same time a few times in a few different ways but unless you really need it for a condenser mic I would sell it or keep it for backup or other options as "H" stated. I gave mine to a family member recently. I don't really need it anymore and if I need phantom power I can get something else.

I'm pretty sure if you bought the model packs for the UX2 they're linked to the device so it must be plugged in via USB in order to use them. There might be a way to unlink them but I'm not up on the subject.

  9. Thanks for sharing Brazzy.  It is such a heavy amp, it is hard my me to lug it to the service center via public transport on my own.  I am going to replace the 12AX7s and see if that helps.  I like the amp because of the Class A chime ...  I use a HD500X too (with a JTV) and I like the versatility, I hope the tube replacement can fix the problem.

I hope the tube change works for you, wasn't the case for me. I had to send mine back to Line 6, it made an approx. 3000 mile trek, lol. I ended up shipping it back in the original box it came in since I saved it but I probably could've just removed the chassis and sent that back leaving the cabinet at home. They sent a call tag so they paid the shipping the last two times, the first time it was a few days out of warranty so I shipped it (paid). It's a long story, lol.

  10. I have the same problem, one day the amp worked, the next there is no sound.  The amp has not moved or anything, just switched off properly (standby off then a minute later, main power off).  There was no issue before the problem, everything lights up as it should, fuses are fine, tubes are securely attached, not loose.  The amp has only been used a few times at home since purchase so the tubes are still quite new.

This is what happened to my DT50HD. It's been a while now but I had to send it in to Line 6. I had to send it in 3 times if my memory serves me, lol.

It's working ok but I just noticed that the L6 Link isn't working with my HD500 since I mainly use it with MIDI and the other inputs. I really should've checked everything when I got it back.

Forgot to mention that this amp sounds excellent. It's the best sounding amp I've got.

  11. on a side note I have to say that adding the Zoom MS-70 CDR in the FX Loop of my HD500 has eliminated all DSP limits for me.  I place it after the mixer and before any other post effects.  The stereo noise gate is awesome and I don't need any of the L6 gates so that frees up DSP and slots on every patch right there.  It has a 7 band stereo graphic EQ that can serve as a global EQ when needed too.  The multiple chorus, delays and reverbs are really nice and I can offload those effects to the Zoom when I get to a DSP limit issue.  It fits right on my board too.  About $120 and well worth it... now if I can only crack the midi nut so it changes with the POD patches...

I had a Zoom MS-100BT on the Christmas wish list, got lucky and Santa came through. Was just trying it in the Aux in of my Spider Jam and had a really good time 'cause the tone quality was great. It was so easy to get good sound from. I was using a Epiphone Special II which I had just put D'addario 9's on. I still have to run it into my HD500 but man it's so easy to use with the Spider Jam and get some good tone.

Thanks for posting this radatats 'cause I may've never thought of looking at the Zoom pedals. Thumbs Up to Ya!

  12. Here's to wishing everyone the Very Best in the up and coming New Year! Happy Celebrations!

May the music spontaneously come to mind,

May the fingers effortlessly find the notes,

And may "the tone" find your ears.

If anyone has anything to add to the above feel free to express yourself.

    Rock On!

    Sincerely,

    Brazzy

PS: Thanks to everyone in this forum I know quite a bit more about music than I ever did, still learning though. Thanks Everyone!

  13. I have a different take on it. My old computer died not long ago and I got a new Dell i7 Inspiron 5737 with Win 8.1 and upgraded to the free Windows 10. I didn't expereince anything alarming and the first thing I installed was Line 6 Monkey. Then through Monkey chose HD500 without it plugged in then installed the drivers for the HD500. After that I installed HD Edit through Monkey then plugged in the Pod and let it connect. After it connected I opened Monkey to see if I had green check marks for the things I installed. Then I opened the License Manager and made sure it was authorized along with the computer. It's been working fine ever since.

Keep in mind I didn't buy the model packs yet so I didn't have to check that but I would think License Manager would help you along if you read what it says.

I save any files that are important to me on an external hard drive so I always have them separate from the computer.

I realize it seems everyone has a different experience so it's a very subjective subject. Good Luck with it and I hope it goes smoothly for you.

  14. I don't think the sensor is dirty. during the calibration that Punkyboy describes (yes I used that one). in step 5 I can see all the values chaing from 0 to 255, so the pedal is working. but after step 6 I get an F instead of a P.

I would reinstall the firmware, do the reset and then calibrate. Since I know no other recourse. I also would start completely over and this means losing all my presets and redoing them. At this point in the game for me I don't really rely on saved presets since I'm always making new ones.
