  1. My original post is wrong so I had to look at the manual again, Stumblinman is right. Heres a snippit of the manual on this.

My original post: I'm pretty sure your going to plug your new 8 ohm addition into the port right next to the internal speaker port. Should be a circle around the 8 ohm section of the outputs. You can't use 4 ohm port along with the 8 ohm port as far as I know, same for the 16 ohm port. My DT50 has the same outputs as your DT25 so in this respect I think it's the same. What I've done, and it sounds good, is take a DT25 Cab 8 Ohm and another cab I had which was 16 Ohm and run them in parallel from the 4 ohm port.

  2. Of Course... I did it,  But i didn't like anyway, tryed direct, combo front, combo pwr amp, stack front, stack power amp.....nothing!

i tried on mixer and it sounds good, i played into the dt50, it sounds good.

but on other amps it sounds very small, too high frequencies, too distorted sounds.

so i sent my pod hd500x back to the vendor!

nobody is perfect, but please don't say thet the pod hd500x plays good anywhere !

i started play guitar 27 years agò, when i was 13, i had many racks effect, pedals, amps, pedalboards... i'm not a new entry.

so i'm not perfect too, but  i believe i have a discreet sense of hearing.

It's ok that you don't like the HD pod sound, there are plenty of other things to pump your sound through. In hind sight it would have been nice if you put the kind of experience you have at the beginning of the thread so we know where your coming from. Your opinions are respected and so should others. When this sort of thing happens to me I shift gears quickly and move on so as not to fall into the abiss of distraction.

  3. What a shame, the OP was so quick to come to the conclusion that it ain't right it seems almost futile to say anything else, lol. I have such a great time with all my Line 6 devices that I guess it really only comes down to this quote "I can only speak for myself". Then again, I have so much more patience than many many people. Like they say "One man's trash is another man's treasure".

  4. I didn't have any problems first try, the only thing I had to do was make sure I updated the software for my midi interface. I'm still using the latest DT50 frimware update without any real problems since November 2013. Right on, Silverhead.

  5. Ive recently bought into the ' dream rig ' with the JTV, HD500 and DT25.

I own a Kemper Profiler and until recently an axefx2.

If you are after the sound of a real amp the HD500 and DT25 win hands down. The axefx would need to be coupled to a valve amp to be in the same territory. By then you've spent almost five times as much for the preamp/effects and foot controller and in this situation there is hardly any difference between the two.

The HD500 is also a lot easier to edit. (Axefx has an awful UI, and the computer editor doesn't function half the time as its updates lag behind the units constant firmware updates).

I was curious about how Kemper users felt about ease of use and quality of sound, thanks for sharing that. Also don't much about the axefx.

I've owned the AxeFXII and used it primarily through a good power amp Randall RT2/50 tube, stereo power amp into lots of different guitar cabs. You can get the kind of experience you are talking about. Or not, depending on how you set it up. But generally yes that should be no problem.

I have the DT 25 and a Pod HD500x and it too can get that, although the PodHD in front can be problematic just like the AxeFx was, if you tweak it poorly. Gain stages where you don't want them input mismatch sucking tone, etc.

Basically the more links in the chain the more potential for trouble.

And that is where I find the DT amp shines above everything else I've tried related to the modeling world. I can always just plug into the DT amp by itself and I'm there. Touch sensitive dynamics, killer tone, etc. Throw a few pedals in front...no problems. You can program the DT to have up to 8 different preamp 'flavors' available to you even when there is no Pod connected so you still have some variety but it behaves first and foremost like a good tube amp should.

Right now I'm using the PodHD in Line6 Link to the DT 25 but I have a series of pedals in front of the PodHD and I keep the PodHD on one preset most of the time and use the pedals to bring in all my favorite flavors of drive and the PodHD effects for reverbs and delays and lots of other stuff.

I've got other tube amps, boutique, expensive, sounding great kind of amps. Some of them can clearly outshine the DT in some particular way...nothing does Tweed Deluxe like a good tweed deluxe for example....

The DT however deserves to be there with them because it shines quite bright in so many ways.

I unerstand about going stack front being a bit touchy on the settings to get good tone, but it can be done. The L6 feed into the DT50 I'm really liking alot. I've never owned any tube amps up until Nov. 2013 so I can't say if it's better ot not but I can say I'm happy with buying into this rig, HD500>DT50 Head>DT25Cab. I started with the UX2 then went to the X3 Pro (GUI/Gearbox) with a Spider Jam and had fun with those so I felt the DT-HD thing was going to be ok for me and I was right. Even with the problems of the learning curve I had to endure it was worth it. I'll probably never use it to the fullest but I'll have fun trying.

To the OP: The Amp EQ settings are saved in the patch you create in the Pod as far as responsiveness it feels as responsive as just going in the front of the amp with the guitar, IMO, but I haven't used the DT25 I have the DT50. Can't see there being that much differance in responsiveness between the two though.

  6. Also check that your inputs are set something like this: input 1= Guitar & input 2= Same. Check your outputs, one maye be muted or panned all the way in the wrong direction. When this happens to me I usually just start over with a blank tone (everything turned off, Amps, Effect, etc.) check input and output settings and then volume levels. After that I load an amp and start adding to it.

  7. I have the DT50 Head and DT25 Cab and get a good clean when when I use topology I, all the knobs at 12 o'clock and for the dirty tone just go to topo III or IIII. adjust the volume and drive appropriately for both the clean and dirt tone. Simple as that, this amp has good tone IMO. Oh and when I dial in the amp drive and volume I leave the guitar controls wide open. as far as the Class A/B-Class A switch and Pentode-Triode switch just try them out to vary up the tone.

  8. Pod Farm is the next step up. I'm still using Gearbox with an X3Pro and UX2. The UX2 has the tuner in the GUI the X3Pro does not. I would say line 6 did that 'cause the UX2 does not have the tuner in the device itself. I may someday get the latest Pod Farm but for now I have good tones with Gearbox. Many say Pod Farm is way better than Gearbox.

  9. when using L6LINK you dont have to set the output mode it will set automatically based on what's plugged in.

you DO NOT typically want to use "no cab" with the DT amps... that will hose your sound up and leave you confused... all the DT amp models use cabs if you're looking for an authentic sound...

you can of course change any of that if it pleases you.... but ideally you wouldn't.

Oh Yeah, I agree here wholeheartedly.

  10. You can do that and it should work fine, plus you can move the FX loop anywhere within the chain. I've found that just going into the front sounds good too anthough it limits your options. I've been  going into a DT50 Head and DT25 Cab with the L6 Link just using the distortion and other effects without an amp and it sounds great. Of course if your trying to emmulate someone else's sound you need to set it up appropriately.

Here's what someone did to help the tired eyes out. I thought it was pretty darn smart.>>> Trick for my old eyes

  11. I've done both the global reset (holding the left nav button) and reinstalled the flash update. I did have the usb plugged in at the time (not to a computer though). I don't know if that would have something to do with it.

I usually unplug the usb before doing the global reset. I don't think what your doing is causing any problem.

  12. Have you tried booting it (powering up) while pressing the left nav button, this is a reset so make sure you backup your bundle of patches. Usually what I do when I have a major problem with the pod itself is refash the firmware, do the reset, and then calibrate the pedal. I don't rely on saving patches although I do, but I have learned how to make patches on the fly and am still learning. I get better and bettter at it every day.

  13. I am just really tired of trying to figure out how this thing is really working, having to jump back and forth between multiple manuals for snippets of info that sometimes seems to conflict, only to find out that isn't what's actually going on anyways...  and finding out a lot of what I thought I was helping others with was pure lollipop...

I don't try to figure out these devices completely so what I do is just use my ears and keep trying different things and taking mental notes. Whenever I mess around with these things I allott a small amount of time to configuring and alot more time playing guitar this way I don't become obsessed with details and focus more on playing. I spend alot of time just playing guitar into a small amp with a bit of reverb just to keep my fingers tuned.
