Retailers in Europe are free to price however they want. Manufacturers have no control over pricing, as is the law.

I have the same issue on a MB Air updated to Yosemite from Mavericks but running a POD HD PRO (so don't feel bad, it's not just your old X3 (which I also own an X3 Pro as well). This won't be very good for my demo of the POD on Sunday. No previous drivers or Line6 software was present before installing all the latest stuff.
On the upside, POD HD Pro Edit works just fine.

Limited Edition Versions

Just to clarify, as I was formerly the Product Manager for Variax, the quantities of Limited Edition Variax (Standard) guitars were limited to no more than the following made available for sale to the public:
Emerald (LEE): 225
Amethyst (LE2): 250
Onyx (LE3): 325
Your serial number may exceed these numerals because of course there were some additional units made for the Service and Marketing departments.
