  1. Having never experienced this with ANY piece of gear I've owned, I can't relate at all. Don't know if that's a failing on my part or not, but I've never once achieved instant tonal nirvana with any combo of guitar(s) and amp, no matter what was in the rig. The day I plug into something new and I'm instantly thrilled, with no need to adjust anything, I suspect I'll drop dead from the shock. ;)

    Don't buy a Helix then  :P

  2. Is there an option to turn the mute function off when in tuner mode? I seem to remember seeing it. If so you could turn the mute function off. It won't stop the POD going into tuner mode but at least you'll still be heard as a stopgap until you solve the problem.

  3. I seemingly had a problem with one of the footswitches periodically not working. This had been going on for a few weeks but I hadn't done anything about it, when a new FW was released. I reflashed to the new FW and the problem went away. Must have been some sort of software glitch. For once my procrastination worked in my favour!!

  4. When I was 4 or 5 my dad would play his guitar while I sang Cilla Black songs....rock n roll eh? When I was a little older my dad showed me a few chords but I didn't really get into it until I heard The Jam in the late 70's. They were so cool I said to myself "I wanna do that!". I had about six months of lessons which was enough to play most Jam songs (great songs but not that complicated). Once I could play The Jam I thought I was the Dogs B#llocks so stopped my lessons and taught the rest to myself.....that's why I have SO MUCH bad technique!

  5. I mic it. I am having no luck at all with saving my L2M settings. When I try to save the acoustic mode, on recall of the patch, the acoustic mod indicator light will light of a split second and then immediately change to reference /PA. I've been asking for help on this one for a while with no joy.

Glad your able to make it work.

I struggled with getting the Stagesource modes to save 'per patch'. I found if you try to save it through HD Edit it doesn't always save but if you save it by hitting save on the POD itself it usually does. It is a bit temperamental though!

    Hope that helps.

  6. This has been a tough topic forever. Slight patch-to-patch volume (not tone) levels will be a thing of the past for anyone lucky enough to own a Helix when they hit the shelves. Any volume variations between patches will be easily levelled with FEET on the fly while still playing the guitar in seconds. Uber-cool!!

  7. cdkane is right, try to create your patches at the volume level you're going to perform at. If that's not possible I have found that when creating patches at low volume levels you almost always add more bass than necessary. I usually write the patch then roll off 15-20% of the bass on the amp model. It leaves the patch lacking punch but once you turn up to gig levels the Fletcher-Munson curve makes up for it as your ears perceive more low frequencies at high volumes.

  8. I use a James Tyler Variax for my acoustic tones with a Stagesource speaker. The vintage pack itself is well worth the money but I am a bit disappointed with the acoustic amp model. Compared to my regular patch which has no amp model and a little compression it sounded muddy to my ears. To be fair I haven't spent much time tweaking it though.
