I downloaded the latest version directly from the line6.com downloads page. I see on other forums that the software supposedly runs fine on Sonoma, but in my case it will not install. My guess is that those who said it will run fine already had it installed and running on a previous iOS, then upgraded the iOS and the edit software continued working.

It has to do with Security issues. Read the following. https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT210999

It's been over a year for me, so had to jump through a few hoops to get it to work.

Modeling program for the heads is designed for that, program for the combos are not. Been that way since Spider III and Spider Valve.

As I've said before, these are not all analog tube amps, so you can't get away with doing the kinds of things we used to

do in the all analog tube amp days (circa early 1970's).

Had this chat with a audio test analyst guy here, as we both used to work at JBL (or JBL/UREI in my case). Was picking

his brain a while back for my prior comment, as he was dealing with some Neodymium speaker testing that week. Hence

    my prior comment.

    Thanks Partev.

Having said that, with a DT25 head, would the external cabinet with a 15W 16Ω VOX Blue be OK? Thanks in advance!

Don't do that. These are not all analog tube amps, the digital side might not like it.

Looking over the specs and frequency response curves,... it''s close, but not close enough.

    Stick to the specified parts.

Outcome? If the power to speaker is not match and the speaker fails or the tubes and speakers fail,

it can take down the system. That would leave it un-repairable. Stick to specified parts (tubes, speakers,

et al). Don't try to hot rod, a Bogner hot rod it will just blow something.

Line 6 does not support modifications to it's product. If something fails we won't be able to help you.

Further complicated by the fact that it is now a legacy product.

I don't want to see your amp on my repair bench.

    Partev,

Maybe a silly question, Yes, I know you state use the same speakers, although how should one choose a cabinet/speakers for a DT50 or DT25 Head? Or even with the DT50 212 vs 112, same amp yet different wattage on the 212 speakers(90W+60W) & the 112 is a 90W speaker? This seems a little confusing.

    Thanks Pianoguyy!

Sorry but what notes should I see? There's no links or references in your reply.

I get what you're saying about other people's mic patches, perfectly understandable If I was using it for recording and tuning in a unique-to-my-voice tone to studio quality. However, I'm looking at using it live for wild & crazy vocal effects - doubling, phasing, distortion, pitch shifting with an expression pedal etc. Employing heavy vocal effects to sound good in a live mix on top of a full band will be very different to practising at home,  so I'm was hoping to get some starting points from others who may have already got similar stuff setup.

I agree with Pianoguyy. I think most people whom use the mic input on a POD HD would be doing a more basic vocal chain. A thought though would be taking others guitar presets and just mute/disable the amp sim and see what you get. Hope that helps.

    Cesarelik,

    Welcome to the forum.

An FYI, you should be posting this under Multi-Effects Units/Helix. You'll get a better response posting it there. Dream Rig has to do with Line 6 integration of the Variax guitars, Helix or POD HD with L6-Link, and Amps with L6-Link such as PowerCab, DT series amp or StageSource speakers. Just trying to help.

It adds to what I posted. My post still is correct that you would use the Preamp Models with a DT amp, hence ".......or when using the L6 LINK™ connection.*

    What?

From the Advanced Manual of the POD HD500x:

    Amp and Preamp Models

We’ve included a complete set of “Preamp” versions of each Amp as well. Choose one of these to obtain the tone of just the preamp stage of the amp - recommended when feeding your POD HD500X output into an external amplifier, or when using the L6 LINKTM connection.*

See above for the explanation why or why not to use "PRE".

    ????

If you use the 4CM then you might want to use the "PRE" to use the modelled preamp of a specific amp to then go through the power amp section of the amp you are connecting the POD to.

Not quite understanding where the Master Volume on the POD HD500 is in the signal path to the DT25 when using the Line 6 Link ? The POD MV doesn't seem to control any variable in the Editor (unless I am missing something). I would then ask where the Unity Gain position is for the POD MV ? My understanding is that the DT25's MV is the master to the power amp section. Nothing controls it except your hand.

For those using this set up (or the POD500X) what position to you generally like to run the POD master Vol at??

It is nice to be able to reach down and squeeze a bit more volume out of the rig without having to go to the Amp's master volume so ... I tend to run the POD's MV at about 1 o'clock and set the amp MV to taste.

Do any of you dime the POD MV and/or do any of you dime the DT25 M.V. and then back things down via the POD?

    Thanks,

I'm the same in that I run the POD MV at 12-1 o'clock and DT to taste, small room and in a condo so never past 11 o'clock on the DT(yes, I know I could use the LVM).

A friend gave me this device recently, telling me he couldn't figure it out. Problem is, my new computer only has USB-C ports (and 1 HDMI port). The POD HD only has a USB port... so assuming I'll need an adapter of some sort? Also... did I understand correctly that Line 6 is no longer updating Monkey for anything MacOS-related?

    Thanks much!

You would need a USB-C to USB-A to connect to your Mac. If you want to use the HD edit software there are a few hoops you have to go through to get it to work. See here for that: https://line6.com/support/page/kb/general-faq/operating-system-information/apple-silicon-m1-or-greater-driver-installationremoval-notes-r991/.

Using the POD HD as an interface for audio into a DAW I've found it's not stable at the moment. Check if the new driver works as one was released Sept of 2022.

Hello, I have a question about the Line6 Pod HD500X.

I bought a used one and some time ago I noticed that I have the same amplifier twice, only one has the "pre" ending. What does it mean?

Blackface Dbl Nrm             have AMP PARAMETERS

Blackface Dbl Nrm Pre      dont have this

I am asking for help and advice which one is betterimage.png.890406f313abcecc303267c8fb8a9a3b.png

The "Pre" refers to it being used in conjunction with a DT series amplifier via L6 cable connection. So if you are using the POD stand alone without a DT amp, don't use the "Pre" models. FYI, I've never used my POD in 4 cable method (4CM) so not sure how that might work as I have a DT25.

Yes, I've just done all this and no joy.

I went through the spctl process and went into the system information and disabled software and still see the line6.driver.xtaudio showing under that area before re-installing the drivers. So, the process must not have worked. I reinstalled the drivers anyway, just in case and that didn't work. So, uninstalled, redo the process to no avail.

    Anyone else find success?

MacOS is the issue. You need to use an older version of OS. That’s why I kept my old MacBook Pro with High Sierra v10.13. With Line 6 support of older products and newer software it was inevitable.

If I recall, there should be something I prepared for the Admin that's got post in the Forum Knowledge Base.

That's great! But it should also be in this more specific forum page. It's more important than the pinned "Share And Download 2.0+ H D Models" in my eyes seeing how many ask this question as opposed to shared models. Just a thought.

anybody ever see one of these?  It would be very handy to have one on the end that plugs into the guitar!  Especially when sitting to play...... maybe an adapter?

    Thanks!

The issue is the tab to unlock the XLR would be difficult to get to when you want to disconnect the XLR. I've not seen a 90º Neutrik Ethernet connector before either.

I got my POD HD500X in January 2020, anticipating some theater work I'd booked for the upcoming spring season. Obviously that didn't pan out what with the world ending and all, so it's mainly just sat on my classroom floor as a pedalboard for my teaching setup. I'm booked to play a production of Shrek The Musical this summer, and I'd really like to get the most out of the POD in terms of I/O for my pit setup. I've played a few shows with a more traditional guitar->pedalboard->amp setup, but for this show I'd like to try and do as much "in the box" as I can. My big question is whether I can use multiple instruments at once with a minimum of cable swapping between songs. The show calls for several electric and acoustic guitars, ukulele, and a few oddball sounds, but my setup is going to consist of one electric guitar, one acoustic-electric, and a ukulele. Is there a way to run all three simultaneously with a basic pedalboard setup on the POD? Or should I explore some kind of dedicated DI for the acoustic and/or uke?

Seeing as you'd like to have 3 sources plugged in at the same time this could be tricky. You are able to use the guitar input and aux input and mic input at the same time but would require some programming choices on what path they use if I'm correct. Not sure if the mic input would be able to be used for any of your instruments. Sounds to me like you need a switcher box before the POD like an A/B pedal. Hope that helps.

I've looked on Celestion website and it doesn't show a G12H-90 or a G12P-80. Unless you are looking at one of the many G12H types and I don't see any G12P-80 only in some impulse responses and that's G12P Seventy 80.

I got this response from Celestion:

Sorry – as these are custom speakers, the information isn’t published.

If you like you can look at the curve for the Seventy 80, which will be very close to the G12P-80. There’s nothing like for like in terms of the G12H-90, though.

    Any other insight Partev?

Yes, Electro-Harmonix 12AX7EH, medium, is fine. It's just more than you need, their premium version.

The "medium" has to do with the soft/medium/hard aspect, has to do with the proportion of inert gas

    verses vacuum in the tube.

Normally, it wouldn't matter,... for an "all analog" tube that is. And this is not an all analog tube amp.

Thanks Partev. Another question is if a PSVANE ECC83 would also be one that is OK? This is one they have sourced for me.

I've been trying to source the pre-amp tube for my DT25 112 up here is Edmonton, Alberta, Canada through my authorized service centre Long & McQuade. Maybe because of supply issues they are finding hard to get the 12AX7 Chinese made tubes. They keep saying it shouldn't matter but I keep telling them about your recommendations you've made here. Would 12AX7 Electro-Harmonics be OK or is it for sure the Chinese made one required? Thanks for all you do & rock on good sir!
