  1. I am not positive because I do not own a vetta amp I have the HD500. But when that came out the vetta the variax was not capable of alternative tunings for 12 string models that didn't come about until the JTV series came out. So I am sure they have not updated any features of the Vetta amps since its no longer in production. I was actually kinda shocked you were able to save tunings cause I didn't think that the old vetta 2 and older variax supported that function but low and behold it does...
  2. I use locking auto trim tuners from planet waves but I think it would hold true to standard tuners also. I actually put the string through the tuner peg first, then I put on the wrap around bridge. Then I just pull it taught. simple and quick. though for standard tuners I would make sure your tuning peg holes are at a 90 degree angle to start off with so its easier to wrap and lock the string. here is a video on proper string winding....
  3. I pasted a link below from a guy who had noise issues with his JTV69 and how he resolved it. http://line6.com/support/thread/79297
  4. Actually with the JTV 69 series you may pick up allot of funny noises from the bridge. Since in most cases its floating ( not flush with the body) then there are also the funny spring vibrations you get. ( with my Fender stratocaster I completely blocked it) Removed the springs and all, I placed wedges of wood on both sides of the tremblock to hold it in place. Totally changed the sound and tuning stability. (some guys like the sounds the springs I didn't). Further more I noticed a more dramatic change in the way my JTV59 sounded after I added the strip to the bridge ( not so much behind the nut). I think because there is more direct dampening behind the bridge. One of the biggest differences is the amount of cross talk is cut down ( arpeggios are much clearer and precise) when you hop between say the 6th string and the 3 string it doesn't vibrate to the other open strings. So when your running the modeling or alt tuning there is less artifacts to process.. Also when you palm mute it sounds allot better for some reason. But everyone has their beliefs or theories. I would try it, worst case scenario you have to change strings again. I would just run a thin strip ( I did about a 1/8 of a inch wide) right behind the Piezo pickups.
  5. My personal opinion is its a hardware issue. I think when you use highly sensitive pickups such as (Piezos) you pick up allot of artifacts from the guitar (sympathetic resonance). I have talked about these issues before and posted my own solution you can try it or not (it solved my problems I had with the way the tunings and the modeled guitar sounded.. here's a link to the topic http://line6.com/support/topic/111-make-your-variax-sound-100-better/
  6. It actually says right on the website that it doesn't work with a daw system.. and that you will experience latency..
  7. Here is a old pic I found on line seams to be just fine with a stock one...
  8. Wow thanks for all the info ( I think I might have opened a can of worms on that) I have added one of those hosa cables to my wish list. along with the L2m they have 24 months interest free right now its kinda hard to resist ordering it. Even though I haven't earned it..
  9. I noticed when I searched for those type of cables some claim to be digital and the cheaper ones do not. Do I need the Digital ones or are the cheaper analog ones ok they look the same to me but who knows.
  10. Hey thanks for the answers, And wow the alternatives are allot less expensive. They wanted like 80 bucks for the 20 foot Line 6 link cable at sweetwater. But as for the DT25 goes I just don't think you can mix digital with (tube or analog all that well). I have had best luck with all tube amps (ala 5150), or FRFR with modeling technology.. Not mixing them together, Also I didn't feel you were able to use the full capabilities of the dream rig system without going FRFR (for acoustics). So I felt it was pointless having to change my presets for FRFR and using the DT25.. Some people love it, its just a matter of preference I guess... I think I just want it to be easier to deal with. Kinda like old LP's sound better to my ears but MP3s are just easier to deal with..
  11. About 6 months ago I ordered the dream rig system through Sweetwater. I didn't care at all for the DT25 amp so I returned it and the Line 6 link cable. But Now I wanna order the L2M monitor and connect with the Short Line 6 Link cable but I cannot order it only can find the 20 foot long ones. Does anyone know of a 6 foot alternative to that cable I can order. Thanks for any help. Also is anyone here running the L2m system and how do they like it..
  12. There has been a rumor circulating that they plan on releasing a HD version of POD Farm. But who knows...
  13. I actually just use the stock fender knobs the ones that came with my 59 were really slick and hard to grip. These seem to work really well and you can get em in any color..
  14. I wonder if maybe the strings are not centered in the bridge where it clamps down. Like maybe the strings are rubbing the sides where the strings clamp in. Piezo pickups are allot more sensitive than standard magnetic. So when you do the modeling it picks it up. And High gain amplifies it even more.. or perhaps something with the nut like a funny burgh in it or something the strings are hitting it cause a funny harmonic. I hope this helps Not sure with out looking at the guitar or hearing a sound sample..
  15. Yeah I always pack my guitar in its case between practices.. But I Also use the HD500 to power it though.. But I get your gripe they kinda advertise it as a sleep mode when volume is turned down Or no battery drain..
  16. The only thing I ever heard in the forums was they were working on a smaller HD500. But only a rumor I doubt there is any real value to it.. I wish they had though...
  17. I am actually hoping people try it out ( and it works for them as much as I thought it worked out for me). I just think the problem is there is a processor designed to model different guitars and tunings. But it doesn't take in concideration the physical guitar and its flaws or imperfections translating over to the models. No guitar design out there is perfect and they all suffer from nuances ( some likeable some not). But for a guitar that is trying to be many guitars it needs to be more of a Blank canvas not show character of its own. I feel by muting the strings in areas help accomplish that. I think also they need to create algorithms to help isolate and remove stuff like that, it has all that DSP put it to use. Also I think the bridge designed is flawed, it amplifies cross talk between strings. The way its just floating on two screws and not bolted directly to the body just amplifies the vibrations. Thanks though for the responce..
  18. Well recently in another discussion I ran across an Idea to help eleviate some of the sympathetic resonance that occurs with the variax guitar.Link here http://line6.com/support/message/485558#485558 (quite amplified do to the Full Range of the Variax and HD500 capability's). I expanded on his Idea and chose to add vibration relief on the Bridge also. (there are pictures showing what I did on the other discussion). I wanted to express my extreme satisfaction in the results I am getting. Over the last few days of practice I am amazed at the sound quality of the modeling. (greatly improved I think from the lack of sound artifacts being modeled along with what I was playing). Also the quality of the alternative tunings I used to never use the 12 string models cause I thought they sounded terrible at times especially tuned down. Now they sound phenomenal no warble sounds, just true to what I was playing. I am not kidding I sat for about an hour going through the different models and tunings amazed at how great they sounded. ( the last time I was ever impressed by a piece of gear was about 16 years ago I bought a 5150 combo and fell in love with tube distortion, just loved the sound of it.) made me enjoy playing. I am hoping that others try this technique and have the same results (Truely I do).. Thanks for Others in these forums that have always been helpful for me...
