  1. Nope. It's not stupid. Not if It's required to upgrade for work. Not being prepared to be at least current with a released version on release day is not right. You are saying if I go into a store later this week and buy a new machine it's ok that the thing not work with line6 devices. That's what the beta period is for - so that won't happen. We are not talking about fragmented hardware and an OS. It's one version at a time.
  2. This is a worthwhile discussion. If it was the day after El Cap beta came out, that is an unrealistic expectation. But the release comes out Sep 30th. Some of us must run the El Cap Beta. Others might be curious if L6 is ready or not. Line6 needs to know they have an issue. 2 days after official El Cap for compatibility is 2 days too late. Some of us might use this stuff in a work situation and those that do not should not be left without working devices for released OSes for any amount of days. Really there should be beta L6 software available weeks ago so we can try it out for them and let them know they are all set. That's my $.02.
  3. That's rough. I can use as a sound card, edit and Monkey but not License Manager. I hope they address it soon for you. I worked around the problem since you inly need License Manager once in Awhile. I suspect it's their USB code that needs work to match El Cap USB.
  4. Final update from me (I think). After installing the USB drivers in Monkey on Windows I was able to authorize the device and the hd model pack. Went back to Mac License Manager (El Cap) and still can't see the device. But since HD Edit works, I think the work around is good for now. Cheers.
  5. Sorry for all the posts, don't want to waste anyone's time so I am posting with new info just in case it helps anyone. I loaded license manager on Windows laptop and I still don't see the Hd500x. Possibly NOT an El Cap issue.
  6. Should add: Monkey connected and did updates as well. Cheers.
  7. What is interesting is that the HD Edit connects without issue.
  8. Just got a new hd500x. Can anyone in El Cap see their gear in License Manager? I bought the Bass HD but can't activate the HD500x in License Manager. - never mind the pack. Cheers.
  9. BTW: I have been away from the line6 community site for a couple of years. Coming back with the problem of not being able to update/connect my basically brandnew spider IV with the required expensive footpedal was quite frustrating. This topic should be hightlighted and be part of the instructions for setting up for all users of these products. It was a needle in a hay stack to find this post. I was grasping for anything. Reading this post it seems this is a very common problem and it should be brought to better light. I dare say most people would have given up getting the amp connected. It's a good thing the community here has helpful people. The site is VERY slow now and the search was useless. I remember the search being much better at finding (community) help on a problem. Really it comes down to the amount of attention and care from Line6 is not what it was 2,3 + years ago. Something has changed. I do thank the dedicated community for still contributing. But something else isn't quite right. :(.
  10. This worked for me too but it was a bit more that made it all work: - disable anti virus and firewall - deauthorize the computer in license manager - authorize the computer in license manager - re-open Monkey Then it worked. Hope that helps. Cheers.
