  1. I’m wondering whether the difference in volume levels is actually a problem. First, I assume the difference is noted when both devices have the overall device volume at max, or ‘unity’. I also assume that even if that’s true, you could lower the device master volume on the louder one to equalize them.

What am I missing? Do we expect every device from every manufacturer to be equally ‘loud’? Is there some industry standard I’m not aware of?

  2. Just to clarify - if you used the discount to purchase Helix Native you can't sell your LT and retain your HN incense before a specific time period (90 days? 180 days? - look it up in the Helix Native FAQs.) This is for an obvious reason - people buying a Helix product, using it only to buy the discounted Helix Native product, then immediately returning the Helix device for full refund.

  3. Can you confirm that you have tried recording both a dry and wet track simultaneously using your HX Stomp as the audio interface? This was suggested earlier by @schmalle but I haven’t seen a direct response to this. Then import the preset you recorded the wet track with into Helix Native and apply it to the dry track. Compare result, adjusting levels if required.

  4. It is possible to use the Helix device to re-amp a signal from your DAW. That procedure is described in the manual using the Helix device as your audio interface. It can be adapted to use your Focusrite if you want but it’s really a standalone procedure that you might as well use Helix as the temporary interface for.

However, it seems to me that you can’t use it with another plugin in the middle of the chain as you wish. The reamp procedure takes a track from your DAW and routes it through Helix processing with the output being recorded to a new track in your DAW. Seems to me you would need to record a dry guitar track, apply your Neural DSP plugin for any pre-processing to that track, reamp this signal through Helix to create a new track, and then apply Neural DSP again to that track for final processing. And if you want to change the Neural processing in the original track you will need to reamp it again.

I’m not aware of any way to integrate the Helix reamp procedure into an existing track in the same way that plugins operate.

  5. That’s an old product. Might as well keep it and use it as long as it’s still working but you’re right - if it’s not already it will soon be left behind as computer operating systems evolve. Personally I wouldn’t buy one today.

Line 6 no longer makes standalone audio interfaces so I would look at offerings from other manufacturers. Focusrite audio interface products are frequently mentioned here but I don’t use one so can’t make a recommendation. Google is your friend.

The only thing you might miss is a license to the original (pre v2.5) POD Farm product. This license was often bundled with a UX2 purchase. So if you use POD Farm and sell your UX2 you will need to purchase a new hardware independent (v2.5) POD Farm license.

  6. There are likely several ways. My first thought is to use a split path preset with the cab sim alone on Path B. Split your paths just before the Output blocks. Path A output will use USB 1/2 and the Main outputs as usual for routing to your amp. Path B Output will use USB 3/4 so set the Record Input in your DAW to receive the incoming signal on USB 3/4.

If you need details on how to set up a split path with a Path B output block consult the manual.

  7. So when at home and not using the mixer do you still have this problem? Is it possible that Spotify has its own audio device setting, independent of the overall PC audio setting? What happens if you disconnect the mixer from the computer (usb) but leave it connected to Helix (XLR)? Just trying to troubleshoot here, not really suggesting solutions.

  8. Please provide more info on your setup. You say 'my pre-amp'. Is that a physical device or do you mean a Pod Go pre-amp model? How are you monitoring your sound and what are the related cables/connections? Why do you want the POD Go in the setup at all; why not just connect your guitar directly to the pre-amp with your stompboxes pre or post as desired?

Have you considered the 4CM setup as described in the manual?

…. I was wondering if there was a setting in the express to raise the line level or something like that for acoustics.

If there is such a setting it doesn’t seem to be documented. Which means there likely isn’t.

I think the problem is he wants to go directly from preset 1 to preset 2 with the desired snapshot ready to go. Otherwise, going to preset 2 and THEN going to the desired snapshot for that preset would be better.

Yes, I understand. Just saying that if the only way to do that is with multiple copies of preset 2, differing only in the default snapshot, I wouldn’t do it.

Don't know if the pod go has the new Clarion amp, but I use that with my helix for my Acoustic guitar.  The Clarion if very clean and has a ton of gain but keeps it clean.

He’s using the POD Express, not POD Go. It does not have the Clarion model (at least not yet?).

  12. Are you talking about an actual pitch glide, or are you just referring to artifacts that are introduced with a tempo change? If the latter, that’s a natural effect that occurs in the analog world as well when you instantaneously change the delay tempo. I’m not sure how to counter that, but I don’t have any experience with the DL4 MKII.

There is a Global Setting that specifies whether tempo is associated with presets or is handled globally. Try setting  this to Global and see if the artifacts disappear. Not ideal because then you would need to change tempo manually every time you want a change.

  13.

Which device, Helix or Behringer, do you have (want to have) your speakers/momitors connected to? Specify that device in your Windows Audio settings and adjust your PC (not Helix) audio levels accordingly.

Edit: I removed the question re: OS. I noticed you specified Windows.

  14. The proper method is the one described in the update’s Release Notes. In general, Line 6 Updater should only be used as a recovery procedure in the event of an update failure. Since Line 6 Central is recent there have been no updates whose Release Notes would specify its use. All update so far specify using HX Edit. So I guess the answer to your question will be known when a new update is released that specifies using Line 6 Central.

  15. That will work but it brings up what, for me, would be a more troublesome issue: maintenance. When you tweak the preset over time (and you know you will!) you will have to repeat those tweaks in each copy of the preset. Also, you will likely want some sort of preset naming convention to distinguish among them in your preset name display and backups; you don’t want all copies to use the same preset name.

Personally I would find it easier to press two footswitches - one to select the preset (with the default snapshot active) and then immediately a second footswitch to activate the desired snapshot. If practical you could use the Stomp/Preset display so the snapshot change is always available at your feet.
