  1. You should be a happy person in a few days!   I haven't turned on a tube amp in over two years other than just screwing around

for an hour or two rarely.

I've had Fractal (Axe) products, a couple of Kempers, and have settled on Helix with a Helix LT for clone backup...

Love love love love love it!

Dude, thousands of people get very very usable tones out of the helix, me included, so you either have a faulty unit or its user error. There IS a learning curve, because its a complex product. But if you think that Line6 is gonna be overtaken by competition because the helix is so hard to use, im sorry, but ill have to dissapoint you. Out of the comparable products (Axe Fx2, AX8 and Kemper), the Helix is BY FAR the most user friendly in every way.

I'll agree 100% here...  Not hating on the OP at all...  Respectfully, I have owned them all, at one time for a few even...

Axe FX II XL+, Axe AX8, Kemper, Helix.  I would give Kemper 2nd position on ease of use.  Can't speak for Axe III (and yes, I'll be trying one, but not selling my

    Helix floor and Helix LT).

I've owned a crap ton of great tube amps, crappy ones, pedals, digital all-in-one's/modelers...  I get compliments on my tone all the time, from other guitarists and musicians.

I've listened to old and new recordings, both multi-track and with high dollar cameras over the years.  I have the best overall tone I've ever had for a show.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Fractal and Kemper stuff, not to mention other brands, but Helix has been great.  The more they add amp models and the more I play with it,

the more I realize how much in that box I haven't really tapped in to yet.  Probably because I haven't been dissatisfied with my presets I'm using to take the time to rebuild

them and play that much lately.  That's scary for me, because I'm usually tweaking and adding stuff more.  Speaks volumes for the Helix, though.

  3. Line 6 Powercab Plus is shipping from SW today.  It will join a Mission Gemini 2 (2x12) and a Xitone MBritt convertible open/closed back (1x12).

I may keep all 3, I may sell the least favorite between the Powercab and the Xitone.  Interested to see how the Powercab Plus stacks up

    with the other two.

  4. FRFR I've owned of note:  original Friedman one (wedge-ish), Atomic CLR, several powered PA monitors, including coaxial ones.

FRFR I've kept:  Mission Gemini 2 (#1 - 2x12  LOUD and sweet),  Xitone MBritt convertible open/closed back (1x12, #2/backup, still a great FRFR).

FRFR on order:  Line 6 Powercab Plus (1x12).  Love the tilt back legs.  Looking forward to comparing it to the rest.

  5. Still plenty of bars close by here in the Charleston, SC area to play.  "Tri-County" area has a lot.  All are within 45 minutes or a lot less time.

    Play at my church, too...

  6. Good to know. Do you use the Gemini in full FRFR mode and then adjust your high and low cuts from the Helix patches?

Usually full FRFR mode and adjust it in Helix.  Keeps it closer to front of house.  Never touched the Gemini 1.  I know it's a single 12" coax with a smaller box, but

I don't know for sure if they are dead on identical in tone.  I just have no trouble with volume and tone and am not 180 degrees different from what's in the Mains.

What I use sounds good in both.  However, I feel like I have a guitar amp behind/beside me.  Really love the super loud jams when at the house, too.  I'm able

to get what I want tone wise and at loud volumes if necessary.  Sure, there's Fletcher-Munson effect, but you get that with your tube amp, too.  :P

  7. The Necromonger in me says to go out and buy an Axe FX III as soon as it hits the streets........ after all, the geek squad call is in me......

BUT... The FURIAN in me doesn't want me to............................................................................................   aCk!!!  Thbbfftt!!!  :P

  8. The appeal of purchasing an LT as a backup for my Helix has now become almost impossible to resist. This update just forces every other device I was considering move down the list in priority.

I did that a couple months ago. Take it to every gig.

Use the LT at church gigs.

Use Helix floor with LT in the Yukon XL in case of Helix death mid show in the rock band.

Church is close enough to the house to run get the backup in 5 minutes... Hehehe
