  1. I thought of that too... But in that very same reply DI was answering something about the Helix Core 3.0 posted by someone.

So... the content of that answer could be at least considered "vague" or "ambiguous"...

He`s the only one who can tell us when 2.8 is coming... The announcement will be given in the midst of the customer appreciation event on NAMM...

One week to go for it.

The pet feature is already known for those peeping TGP Helix thread...

Greetings and best wishes to all of those who can make it there...

Separate power amps to make frankenamps

Nope... And it's something about a time related thing... but defintely not a delay model. One week to NAMM. DI has already disclosed it...

DI's pet feature isn't a new effect... I'd wager that no one will guess what it is. It's cool and will be useful, but I don't think it's something anyone will necessarily be expecting.

I already know it's not an effect... but I don't want to ruin the surprise...

  4. I`d love to get a new HX version of the Jet Fuzz Legacy Model... but with the Fuzz ON/OFF switch hahahaa... Sounds like a very nice psychedelic phaser but the mandatory fuzz trully ruins it when playing clean chords.

As well as a new HX version of the Dimension D... But I`m pretty sure that won`t happen because Boss already reissued the Dimension D under the Waza Craft line...

I`m still hoping for a Boss PH-1r... a classic which hasn´t still been released under the Waza label... maybe... I feel that Line 6 sound designers are not very fond of weird phasing tones... I like the Panned Phaser sweep (with a very slight or no panning at all), the Jet Fuzz sweep and the the Searchlights modulation sweep...

Hope the deliver something nice on the next firmware...

DI has been quiet over here for a while... he said something in advance about his favourite pet feature being included this 2.8 on other forum... But don`t quote me...

Keep on rocking in the free world!

"I sold my AXE FX II for helix. You know how many amps I used for my metal patches? One.

Now I only use HBE with the Helix :D"

Well... I consider that just plain crazy and stupid. If you needed the money... well... But to me that`d be a no-no.

"I believe more 4x12 cabs would be much more welcomed feature (also added to ideascale :D)."

You can always download 4x12 cabs in IR packs for free... There are many Torrents available in cyberspace land with every cab and microphone combined you can possibly imagine.

"If Frederik Thordendal can play with his eight string on a Marshall Plexi, why can't we?"

Doesn`t he have a custom amp model in the Axe FX II which came when he asked Cliff to retrieve the old Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier from the Axe Standard?. Anyways... who cares what Thordendal does with his tone?

"Adding more and more amps won't make us better players, it will just raise the level of confusion of the people who are switching from analog to digital."

Yes indeed, it won`t make us better players. But it will at least give back a lot of the amps we lost ever since the POD X3 got outdated. Diezels, Bogners, Soldanos.

And bring a couple new ones. Randalls are my hope. (Satan, RG 100, Warhead). Wouldn´t mind losing a month for a Krankenstein.

"I don't expect much from the upcoming update, but it would be nice to have advanced options on the delays and verbs like in the axe fx (also added to ideascale) :D"

Well... there are a couple of us who expect much from it specially in the high gain territory where it seems you`ve got everything already covered. Good for you.

A couple more HX reverbs are welcome with flangey, chorusy and wild phasey modulations... Please no more delays... there are a lot in there... and they do their work quite good.

Thing is... Can anyone please explain why have the high gain amps suffered a major stripdown since the POD X3 got outdated and why clean amps not? Isn`t there any recognizable BIAS against the heavy metal guys? In detail: Diezel VH4 and Herbert, Bogner Ecstasy, Soldano X88R (Modern High Gain), Engl Powerball, Cornford Mk 50, Line 6 originals (Lunatic, Spinal Puppet, Smash, etc.) I believe Helix has improved a lot of the quality of the existing amps and effects from former units... but there are a few things which got lost in the way...

Please take no offense in case you`re and old fart, a blues dentist or a mid gain lawyer. I`m just a medical science heavy metal poser who misses the 80s and 90s more than anything...

OP's desire for a model that you, personally, wouldn't use hurts you how? Prevents them from modeling yet another high gain amp that I, personally, don't need?

The only Fender Bassman I know of that has a Master Volume is the 300. I'm pretty sure that's not the one L6 modeled, and it's not the '53 (Volume and Tone only). And while the '63 has two channels,  there's no Master Volume. So which one did they model?

My point here is that, if you look at Ideascale, just about every amp ever made has been requested, so why the animosity towards OP's request?

I didn´t mean anything personal against the OP... But many times I had to stand people bashing our desire for high gain amps and mocking at us metalheads for complaining the scarce availability of metal amps in the Helix... They just use a couple clean amps without effects and they request for some golden, rare, "lost in the 50s memorabilia trunk" boutique amp to be modeled when they can`t recognize that 99,9% of the Helix users don`t give a flying sh@it about it... How long have we been asking for the german high gain beasts, the new version of the criminally insane Californian amp, the italian american rack versions of the JCM 800, the Evil Randy amp... According to Benadrian it takes a whole month to model a full amp!!!! Come on!!!! Ever since the POD X3 got outdated and the HD came there was a significant stripdown of the metal amps... Even though there have been great additions like the Archetype Lead and the Fatality, I feel that we metalheads are in the middle of a losing game against the clean amp guys... Of course it`s not a war... And I do know next update will bring some goodies for us... But more clean amps in the Helix sounds like a very bad joke to me...

    No offense to the OP.

    Season greetings. Happy Winter Solstice...

  7. I wouldn't hold my breath until this Winter NAMM 2019... Maybe a decent firmware with 6-7 amps and 6-7 effects... Not considering the polyphonic stuff in any way... DI said something about new EQs coming... Maybe we metalheads getting some love this time... Maybe... Maybe... Maybe...

  8. I agree... Being the author of that comment I know that good or bad quality effects are entirely subjective. Thing is I always compare Line 6 models with other pedals or modelers available in the market. I tend to like over-the-top modulation effects mostly digital like the ones offered by Roland and Digitech. The Boss PH-3 is considered useless by many musicians for being "other worldly" and plain unusable in a band context. Nonetheless, I love it. I've been targeting the Digitech Hardwire during the last month, but it'd be my fifth phaser and I running out of room and storage in my little apartment. I'd be really happy if the guys modeled the Roland Jet Phaser or the Boss Ph1-r. Two classic beauties from the 70's that would put an end to the Phaser discussion on the forum.

    Greetings to everyone of you!!!

  9. Sorry to say this... but the Deluxe Phaser is by far one of the worst effects in the Helix... Sounds nothing like a vintage phaser nor like those digital new ones offered by competitors such as Boss or Digitech... IMHO the Phaser is the most neglected effect in the whole unit even though the addition of the Legacy Effects brought some of the magic back.  I really like how the modulation in the Jet Fuzz and the Searchlights reverb sound... but there`s no way you can use both of them without added distortion or overtones while trying to play some clean funky 70`s disco music. I`m still expecting something like the Boss Ph1-r or the Roland Jet Phaser with feedback and mix controls to be added in future updates. I already have a Boss PH-3 but it`s not able to reproduce the magic of the old Ph1-r without sucking tone. It seems most musicians don`t enjoy that swooshy trippy sounds as much as I do... And it has become impossible to get a hold of those old green pedals down here in South America... Ben Adrian has a nice challenge there... opening up that little box and model it until it sounds super groovy.

I already own the Small Stone reissue, the Bad Stone reissue and a Dedalo Mod-5 Lunar Phaser, but can`t still believe that a $1500 multi fx processor doesn´t have a decent digital multi-stage phaser such as the ones available in the Fractal AX8.

I don`t mean to go overboard with my comments... But I have never seen anyone using the Deluxe Phaser in any of the videos posted on Youtube by renowned Helix users...

    Do you forum people agree?

Lol...well that is quite the list. Given it's extensiveness, if I were you I'd prepare for what will very likely be an epic, personality-shattering disappointment. ;)

Hahaha... He`s more of a dreamer than Ozzy Osbourne himself... Only two controversial additions (one is the strobe tuner already featured in the HX Stomp)... No new amp models and no effects... The dullest firmware update in Helix`s history... But really important for the future development of the whole unit. We`re just gonna have to sit and wait for a long time... On the other hand, DI has already stated that the Helix team has been testing new amps and effects to get the seal of approval from expert musicians and audiophiles... So there`s a lot more to come... just not right now.

  11. Don`t get your hopes too high, dear forum people... DI has already stated on the TGP forum that 2.70 is just important from a software developing point of view... and that it`ll only bring two controvesial additions which aren´t even amps or effects... We`re gonna have to wait patientally until 2.80 comes maybe in November or December... He promessed himself new amps and fx models. According to what he said, this new software recoding will extend the life of Helix and even take it to a next level of processing which was unthinkable when it was released back in 2015. So... better grab a chair, sit down and wait...

    He`s the man, though.

I agree. I don't think a vintage-style clean amp has been added since the Matchless were added. I know I'm probably wrong about that, but it just seems like there's been a lot of new modern high gain and dirty models recently, and a lot of those were very cool, but maybe they'll swing back in the other direction for a while

I bet my personal fortune you're kidding... more clean amps???? Seriously??? You've got them all!!!!!

Bring the mean, ballsy, angry and obnoxious for the elderly High Gain Monsters!!!!! Diezel VH4, Randall Satan, EVH 5150 III, Engl E530, Diezel Herbert, Mesa Triple Recto!!!! And a Boss Ph1r Phaser...

  13. Mmm... Well... the one thing in common regarding firmware releases during the 2015-2017 period was that each November always delivered... So... Considering the facts and odds... I`d put my chips on November for the 2.70. Hope we metalheads get finally some love from DI and Benadrian. The last three firmwares neglected the high gains amps and took clean and mid-gains ones as a top priority.

Helix Core and 3.0 intrigue me more by the way...

    Greetings.

  14. I guess it's not only about poosay, after all. I like some bootay as well... The fattest bootay comes from the Archetype Lead, the Bomber Uber and the Line 6 Badonk amps. The Bomber Uber bootay is massive when paired with a 4 x 12 XXL cab and a 160 Ribbon mike. I never had trouble as to how much bootay the Helix can deliver. I'd rather ask for some "pubes" (grittyness, sandy bite) like the one you can get from a real tube amp and greater string separation... But I play through the front end of a sh*tty Marshall Dsl 15c... So never heard the way it really should be with a decent power amp and a 4 x 12 cab.

Just my take on da Helix bootay.

  15. I`m just gonna finish my cut on this thread by quoting a British philosopher called Allan Watt. "Political correctness and speech codes are nothing but thought control. Because the only way available to express your thoughts is through language, and when you control the language... therefore you control the way people think". Hope Steel Panther keeps making music, sell a lot of those pedals, and keep getting a lot of poosay. That`s true life to me. You can always cut your nuts, use a buttplug or get an abortion if you don`t like it.

  16. Ok... I believe is a matter of personal taste... There are many phasers since the Legacy effects were added... But IMO they don't sound HX at all... The Deluxe Phaser has a very weird wee-wee noise which I find unacceptable for a U$S 1500 product... and the Legacy Phaser lacks depth and high frequencies. I always find myself adding the 70s Chorus, the Kinky Boost and the Gray Flanger to get psychedelic enough. I do prefer how my Boss PH-3 sounds a lot better, all the way (please don't start bashing me). Maybe the PH-3 isn't a true phaser pedal and should be renamed the Psychedelic Trippy Pedal...

Regardless, I still think that the High Gain Amps are being neglected but I know DI slipped something about an "EVH" which brings me hope. This update was pretty minor, indeed. Can't blame him for that. I already had an argument with an old wanker saying that Helix didn't need any more updates and that he was sick of reading metalheads complaints.

Greetings to all of you and thanks for your reply.

  17. I`m already expecting the next firmware considering 2.6 was just a minor update which left me with a tasteless mouthful...

I know there are high gain amps and polyphonic pitch shifting on their way... but I think there are still some things which are still lacking and can`t be left aside like a decent phaser and a feedbacker. I`m not complaining because DI was kind enough to give this information beforehand. In my humble opinion, this update was not as a big dissapointment as the 2.30

Greetings to you guys and keep rocking.
