  1. I play for my church and I am the only musician there so we run songs off of an IPad and into the soundboard. They want me to run the IPad into my 500x so I can play the songs through there and be in control of the set list. If in run it through the aux in would I be able to separate the signals so the sound man can turn my guitar up and down with out bit affecting the IPad? And vise versa. Can I run it through the midi? Or USb? Would I be able to control the music with a volume pedal on the 500x? Some of the songs tend to just cut off so I want to be able to fade the music when its about to end.
  2. Hi! I'm about to sell my trusty 500x. Haven't used it so much since I bought the Helix. The HD Pack-addon I bought, is that now a part of the 500x or is it part of my account here at Line 6? Does it follow the unit so that when the buyer connects with computer it will still be available for him? I hope you understand my question. Best regards Olle
  3. Hi, I'm sorry if the question has already been asked, I didn't find it. I'm trying to use my 500x as a MIDI controller for Mainstage. I installed everything I could (driver, license manager, pod edit...) and everything is working on Line 6 devices. My pod is being recognized by the edit software and I can use it. But my Pod doesn't seem to be recoginzed as a midi controller by my OS, only as an audio device. Therefore, nor Mainstage or Logic notice it in the settings. It doesn't appear in the "midi studio setting" too. I've tried to plug it with USB cable and MIDI interface, didn't work. My Mac only has USB C port, so I use a USB adapter. I read somewhere that it could be that, but I'm not sure, since the Edit software is perfectly working through this adapter. I'm on macOS Big Sur 11.0.1 Thanks!

  5. Q: Can I connect my POD/2.0/XT/X3/Live to the front (instrument input) of my amplifier? A: Yes.You will want to create as clean a sound as possible on your amplifier. You will want to make the combo amplifier's EQ as "flat" as possible by turning the treble and bass controls to zero and maxing out the mid control. You should also set POD's output to 9 or 10 o'clock to avoid overdriving the instrument input of the amplifier and have no effects active. You will want to experiment with the output level on the POD to create a sound that works for your situation. Below is the routing for this set up: Guitar > POD unit > Amplifier instrument input. This works but you will be stacking two preamps in series (the POD unit acts as a preamp). Make sure you also adjust the OUTPUT Mode on the POD unit for optimal tone, many end users prefer "Combo/Stack FRONT" Q: Can I bypass the preamp section of my amp to avoid stacking two preamps? A: Yes, There are two ways this can be accomplished. 1) If your amplifier has a CD/MP3 input you can go directly in the this jack from the POD output (This is a common method with the Line 6 Spider Series amplifiers). Be aware you may need to "trick" your amplifier input by using a 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input to allow signal to pass to the speaker (headphone adaptors often work well for this purpose). Guitar > POD unit > Amplifier CD/MP3 input with 1/4" "dummy" plug in the instrument input 2) If your amplifier has an effects loop (i.e. the Line 6 Spider Valve or Flextone) you can use your POD unit as the main Pre amp and distortion generator, using only the power amp section of your amplifier by plugging into the "effects return" or "power amp input". If the amplifier has a "power amp in", the POD output will most likely control the output volume. If the amplifier has "effect loop return" the amplifier master volume will most likely control the output volume. Below is the routing for this: Guitar-> POD In - POD Out -> Amp FX Return. Make sure you also adjust the OUTPUT Mode on the POD unit for optimal tone Combo or Stack PWRAMP when applicable. Q: Can I run my POD/X3/xt/Pro/Live/Floor in an effect loop of an amplifier to use just the effects rather than the amp modeling? A: Yes, it is possible to to run a POD as an effect unit in the effect loop of an amplifier. You may want to turn off the amp modeling or use as clean a sound as possible to avoid stacking preamps. You may also need to lower the "line level" signal of the amplifier's effect send output to "instrument level" to avoid potential damage to the input of your POD. Some POD units will have a pad switch that will accomplish this function. If your POD unit does not have an input pad switch, a device such as the Ebtech Line Level Shifter can be used to lower the line level if necessary. Below is the routing for this: Guitar > Amp In / Amp FX Send> POD IN - POD Out > Amp FX Return. With this routing, you would have to bypass the amp modeling on the POD unit and use it for FX only, using your amp's own preamp section. Q: Can I connect my POD to two amps for a stereo configuration? A: Yes. Connect the left output of the Pod to the input of one amp and the right output of the Pod to another amp. It would be best if you could connect your Pod to the amps using the effects loop of the amp if you have one since it will bypass the preamp of your amplifier. Q: What is the Four cable method? (POD X3 Live and Pro Only) A: The "Four Cable" method (4CM) can be used for any effect unit that has an effects loop when connecting to an amplifier that has an effects loop (i.e. the POD X3 Live). This cabling method allows the end-user to place filters and overdrive units before the preamp section of the amplifier, and modulation and delay effects after the effect loop in the effect unit. This way the amplifier will provide the tones and the Line 6 device will provide the effects (pre and post). Be sure to enable the effects loop, and experiment with Pre-post effect to decide which method works best for you. Instrument > X3Live guitar in X3Live effect loop send > instrument input of amplifier Amplifier effect loop send > X3Live effect loop return X3 line output > Amplifier effect loop return. Q: Can I run the two tones separately, such as one tone for "pre" amp sounds and the other for "post" (i.e. effect loop) sounds? A: An "alternate" method of the Four Cable method is to completely separate the front of the amp effects (i.e. filters and overdrives) into Tone 1, and the time based effects (chorus, delay, reverb) in Tone 2. The tones will need to be panned hard left (1) and hard right (2) in the outputs section (any blending of the tones may result in feedback). Be aware that you will need to have both tones active to get sound, and you need to set up the inputs as follows: Tone 1: Guitar, Tone 2: Aux. Feel free to experiment with the "amp settings" to determine which setting works best for your setup. The connection wiring is: Instrument > X3Live guitar in X3Live Live (left) output > amplifier input Amplifier FX loop send > X3Live Aux input X3Live (right) output > Amplifier FX loop return Video is listed alphabetically under "Multi-Effects".
  6. Hi there, I have bought an used HD500X and I would like to get it in a “Factory configuration”, because I don’t know If the previous owner did changes in any patch or configuration. How can I reset it completely? On the other side, how can I update it to its last firmware version? Best, Bartok
  7. Hey Folks! So I have this one guitar solo from a japanese band called "the GazettE". Their lead guitarist has got an awesome guitar tone, which kicks lollipop in my opinion. I am trying to get my tone near to the following guitar solo, but I cant get something good out of my HD500X it. I know. That's sad. Maybe someone, who is more into their HD500X, can replicate the guitar sound? I would be really thankful, if someone is willing to do so. Since you're working on it, I will be even willing to pay you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbRHGe0_8sQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-EphIMS40A Its especially the guitar from the "second" part of the solo, which is played by the guitarist Uruha. Greetings, Nalfeyn.
  8. Hey guys! I'm pretty much of a newbie when it comes to building a tone. I have the 500X and on my clean tone I get distortion if i hit hard enough. I play funk sometimes and the strumming sounds distorted in the delay and even without the delay. Can I get some help and advise as to what I should do? Thanks! :)
  9. I'm looking at buying a Firehawk FX. However, I'd really like to be able to use some patches that were made for the Pod HD500x. Is this possible? If not this is going to make my decision between the Firehawk and Pod very difficult.
  10. First time posting. Read a lot on here the last week while I was waiting for my 500X to arrive. Just got it today, and man, I wish I had bought one years ago. My friend got one not long after they came out and tried to convert me, but at the time I was a tube amp/stompbox purist. Ive since decided its stupid to not embrace new stuff, so I got one. Heres the situation I find myself in now. I bought my 500X used. It came with the full, $100 HD amp bundle on the unit. I would like to "reset" the unit so I can start new with a fresh slate to work with. However I dont want to lose those extra amps. Can you save/back up just the amps on the unit and put them back on after its been reset? Or would it be best to just go through and delete all the non factory patches/setlists instead of resetting? And since Im still trying to figure out the ins and outs of this thing, how do you create a backup of just the amps? Is there maybe a list of various tutorials somewhere for all these noob questions? Any help is appreciated. Thankis
  11. I have an hd500x that I run into my Boss Katana 50. Recently, I was testing out guitars and I plugged into a bassbreaker and was impressed by the tones I could dial in. Does anyone have a patch that would emulate the bassbreaker, particularly the crunchy tones? Or maybe an idea of how to emulate it?
  12. 500x + boss ME-80 + Boss OD 20 Bugera vintage V22 infinium. How should I have this set up???? ive been experimenting with a few different methods and would like some feed back and suggestions. 1. guitar>me80>OD20>500x guitar in>front input. 2. same as 1 but bypassing the the preamp of the Bugera. 3. Guitar>500x>500x FX loop SEND> ME80>OD20>500x FX Loop RETURN>Amp FX RETURN. 4. same as 3 BUT! 500x FX LOOP SEND is SPLIT! 500x FXLOOP Send 1>OD20> OD20 Send>500x Return RIGHT> / 500x Send 2>ME80 Input>ME80 output L/Mono>500x FXLoop Return L/Mono>Amp FX Return. (4 sounds the best but i hit my DSP limit :( ) ANY IDEAS????? CHEERS!
  13. Hi guys, So, I'm using my 500X as an "amp" with multi effects stored in presets. I'm controlling everything with my TC Electronic G-System where I also have distortion pedals in my loops. Sounds real sweet and I'm super happy with the setup! Presets works fine 90% of the time, but sometimes I want to throw in a stompbox on the 500X when I've used up all the effects on the G-system, which also can work as a MIDI controller to the POD. For example, I send MIDI CC #055, which corresponds to POD FS5. Problem is, that the POD has reversed CC commands, in comparison to probably ALL THE WORLDS other MIDI capable units out there?! The POD listens to 0-63=on and 64-127=off. So every time I change a patch on the G-system, the pedals on the POD turns on. NOT what I want to do... Anyone knows why it is like this? Really strange MIDI behaviour in my opinion, as the majority of MIDI controllers is the other way around... Hope that Line6 can implement this in a firmware update, to be able to "reverse" MIDI Controller Change messages!
  14. HD 500X Global EQ does not affect USB recording? Today I accidentally discovered that whatever settings I did not do, it does not affect the recording in my DAW. Is it just me having such a problem or so conceived? In the headphones all okay, EQ works.
  15. So I've been playing guitar for a few years now, but I never really got around to learning how to make the "perfect" patch or sound for me, and honestly I still get lost when it comes to finding a good sound. I know about this^ website providing patches from other users, but honestly they sound good until you start playing with other instruments. I own a Schecter Blackjack SLS with the Floyd Rose and Sustaniac, with a Seymour Duncan TB-10 Full Shred Humbucker on the Bridge. I play at my church so I would really appreciate if someone could help me out on figuring out a sound that would sound good with this guitar and also sound good live. I will be plugged into the system, not an amp. Next week is my church's anniversary so I want to have a really good sound by then, for those that decide to help me, I am trying to look the basics, a clean patch, rhythm patch, and a solo patch, and for those that have experience with playing at a church, i am not looking for a sound like hillsong, at our church we like to play a little more "rock." Thanks.
  16. Hey guys, I thought I'd make this a separate post so that it's easier to find for anyone who might be having some issues. The patches for the HD500 do not import directly into the HD500X Edit software at this time. They use different file formats. There is a work-around that I posted earlier, and is being passed around now. All you have to do is change the extension on the patch files: For individual patches, change the extension from .h5e to .5xe For bundles, change the file extension from .h5b to .5xb For setlists, change the file extension from .h5s to .5xs I have found no inconsistencies among the patches from the HD500 Edit to the HD500X Edit using this method. I don't know if/when Line 6 will update the software to allow backwards compatibility, but in the mean time, you can use this method to get your 500 patches to your 500X. UPDATE: Someone else mentioned that you can drag-and-drop individual HD500 files into the tone slots in the 500X Edit software. I can confirm that this works. You will still need to change the file names for set-lists and bundles, though.
  17. Is there any way to restore the factory presets or (reset the Hd 400? Mine came with a. Broken preset toggle button I can get totheaction and it says press (enter) and the enter button happeneds to be the preset button that was broken before I bought it
  18. Hey guys, I am a bass player looking for a really good multiefect and I am a big fan of line6s PODs. Especially the hd500. Now, I didn't tried it out but I heard that the hd 500 is equally good for the bass and the guitar and has all sords of efects and bunch of amps is that true? I am not very in to it so that why I am asking. Also, I have a really good chance to buy the POD 500x, but I don't know is it that good for the bass as the guitar. Because I want to use it for my bass guitar, does it have a bunch of efects and amps? I saw that the POD pro has only one amp for the bass I don't know is it with the hd500x the same? Anyway pls help me :)
  19. Hello everyone, I've seen a few topics where people have said they've successfully used their 500/500x with a Digitech Trio/+, but I'm a little cable-challenged. Could someone give a quick step-by-step on how to get my Trio+ to work with the 500x? I've got a simple config: guitar input, USB to computer for recording, and 2 Rokit 6 monitors connected to the XLR outs. Also, if the config requires a dummy plug, could you point me where to get one - haven't had to use one before. Thanks, Jeff
  20. Hi, Anyone experienced in which effects to use for citar sound? Or maybe someone who wants to shair a citar patch? So far nothing found in the Custom tones from line6. b.r.
  21. Hello POD 500X users. Might seem dumb but when I create a tone I started off with no amp. The first block was DIST: Tube Drive. And poof, I have a tone. Even though no amp is set yet. Guitar volume is about 2...but when increased to 10, the volume goes up and more drive. Why? I don't know how it all works together. I try and create from what little i know and how it sounds - to me. Can any one enlightened me.... Thanks dH

    Looper presets?

Hi guys! I'm sure this question has been answered before but i searched and searched and couldn't find any info on it. I'm wanting to have different loops saved into different patches. So when you go to a patch, a patch-specific loop plays. I have no idea if this is possible or not but I knew this would be the best place to ask. Thanks!
  23. I'm new to this forum, and just got a new POD HD500X. I would like to assign the SAME effect to multiple footswitches. Is this possible? Here's what I am trying to do... For one specific preset (that will be song specific), I have a "Solo" FS1 that turns on an Overdrive, Compressor, and Reverb. No problem. But at other times in the song, I only want to use Reverb without the Overdrive or Compressor. FS1: Turn ON / Off Overdrive, Compressor, Reverb FS4: Turn On / Off Reverb only Can I do this WITHOUT adding two separate Reverb effects to my chain?
  24. New here and been searching the threads for bag or case solution for my 500x. I added an extra mission exp pedal and use a poly tune pedal also. I'm wondering if anyone has an suggestions for either a soft bag to pack up my gear or a hard case to just open up and use on stage? I know that's 2 questions in one but hoping someone can sway me one way or another. Thanks!
  25. I added a second expression pedal to my rig and I've been programming for the last 2 nights using HD Edit. Just wanted to mention that I have been running into a problem where the actions shown on screen via HD Edit is not what is going on with the 500X. HD Edit seems to get confused which expression pedal is which and after sending the patch from computer to 500X, the pedal actions shown on screen are not what they are supposed to be and operating the pedal is not performing the function as programmed in HD Edit. Quick fix seems to be, disconnect the 500X USB cable and cycle power. Once 500X is back up and connected to HD Edit, the display is correct and the pedals are performing the correct function. Just checking to see if anyone else is having this problem.
