  1. I’ve just installed the last firmware. I can see a new block “acoustic sim” I’m very interested on it. I used a es-335 type How is the best way to use it? With amp or not? With another blocks?
  2. Hi everyone - I'm looking to buy a Variax 900 acoustic, if anyone has one? (That's not a misprint btw, I'm not talking about the 700 :-)).
  3. Hello to you all. Hope you all are doing great in there very strange times we live in right now. My question relates to the new Pod Go and maybe members of the Helix family as well. We are just collecting information at this point, The Guitar player in our band will be using both an electric and an acoustic guitar during our gigs. The acoustic will have internal piezo pickpus. I guess this scenario is quite common. The plan is for the guitar player to be able to embed guitar management logic into the device he will be using .... To make an example with Pod Go ... Both the Electric and Acoustic guitars are connected to the Pod Go at all times Only one of these guitar is active at any given time. Preset X on the Pod Go will open up for the Electric Guitar to pass through the Pod, and close out the Acoustic Preset Y on the Pod Go will open up for the Acoustic Guitar to pass through the Pod, and close out the Electric As for the Pod Go... I guess we will have to use the Guitar input for the Electric Guitar, and the Effect Loop Return for the Acoustic guitar. For the Electric guitar .... I guess everything is fine But for the Acoustic .... Do we need to do anything to prep the signal from the Acoustic before it enters the Effect Loop Return Jack .... (the acoustic is a mono source, and is expecting a hi-z input) We are aware that the Effect Loop Return can be set to instrument level. Hope someone here has some clever ideas Additional information: We plan to use the Amp Out port on the Pod Go to feed a voice processor that accepts the Guitar signal to manage and guide additional Harmonic voices generated in the Voice processor. The Guitar management feature then becomes important, as no cables needs to be dis/re connected to get the Voice harmony function to work. Kind regards Nils
  4. I have dialled in a great sounding acoustic patch. Hearing with my headphones, it sounds GREAT! Then, I put everything to record in my audio interface (Focusrite Scarlet Solo), using Garageband as my DAW, and the sound was completely different! It was lifeless, dull, muddy. Do you guys know what could it be? Thank you!
  5. Hello everybody, so the under-the-saddle piezo in my variax 300 steel acoustic stopped working. motherboard is fine. does anybody know where i can find a replacement that fits? are there still original parts somewhere out there? thanks in advance. thommy
  6. Hi guys, The D string on my Variax Acoustic 700 is electronically barely audible. I don't believe it's anything more than a problematic connection between the D piezo and the bridge PCB**. Can anyone name guys in or near Sydney Australia who've got experience with the insides of this guitar? And for the interim, any troubleshooting methods to help further diagnose where the problem sits? Thanks all, much appreciated. -Dawes **My reasoning for this is due to my experience with the guitar in the few months I've owned it. - Purchased in March/April from an interstate seller. - A friend living near seller tested guitar on my behalf, gave it the ok. - Friend loosened strings before he shipped the guitar to me. - Upon arrival, the D string piezo was barely audible. - I loosened string, carefully applied pressure to piezo and retightened string onto it. Success. - Some intermittent dropouts for a few days but got it under control and have had no further problems since March/April. - I recently loosened the strings; now D string is once again not working, this time it seems unfixable. (I did manage to get a very, very distorted -but appropriately volumed- note out of it briefly but I think that was a death rattle; hoping it's not the ribbon or PCB!)
  7. Hi... I'm using HX Effects running into a tube amp. This is probably on a forum somewhere but I couldn't really find it so thanks in advance for your patience. Can someone give me some advice on making a block to get a reasonable facsimile of an acoustic guitar? Sort of a like a Boss AC-3 pedal? It would really be cool if line 6 just added that pedal to the next update... Thanks!
  8. I just received my Helix, I haven't unboxed it yet. Does anyone have recommendations for running acoustic guitar and vocals at the same time? Also, is there a way to separate the 2 signals going out, so I can adjust the volumes individually with my mixer? Thank you,
  9. Hello everyone, i have to say i am loving my Firehawk FX! and the wealth of information on this forum as well. Here is my question I can get great tones with my strat as well as really good acoustic tones. I am building a custom strat with an LR Baggs piezo bridge in it, because i go from acoustic to electric quite often. How would you guys approach getting a good blended tone? something that sounds like an acoustic and electric are being played simultaneously. I go direct to pa w/ IEM so i am not worried about amplifier coloration. thanks!
  10. Hello everybody! How can I plugin 2 guitars in my HELIX? One électric (guitar in ) and my acoustic guitar? Is it possible? Thanks a lot
  11. All the recent hype about the Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster motivated me to launch my "Electro-Roots Workshop" YouTube channel with a review of the Variax acoustic sounds. https://youtu.be/HyyO-1V-XLQ Much obliged!
  12. I am currently using my JTV59 with a Pod HD500x. I want to reduce my foot print and would like to replace the HD500x with the HX Stomp. Will I be able to get as good or better acoustic sounds from this proposed product union? I use both 6 string and 12 string models from the JTV59 and with the HD500x and I am currently getting pretty nice sounding acoustic guitar. I don't want to buy the HX Stomp and find it lacks in this primary area of my usage. Has anyone had an opportunity to pair the JTV variax type guitar with the HX Stomp? (Specifically in the acoustic guitar sounds)
  13. Hi all! Im new to the POD HD500 (yea i bought an old one cheap)so this might be an easy fix. Or not haha... I play acoustic and sing so have setup a dual path, input #1 as guitar, input #2 as mic (XLR input). Both paths start with a 'disabled' amp then split into the required EQ settings, comp boost, then rejoin to the reverb unit, volume pedal etc. Looks like this: So my question is how can i use the physical EQ knobs for tweaking overall tone (of the above patch) at various gigs/rooms? Is this ^ whats called "Global EQ" or GEQ"? Hoping its just a setting somewhere or it can be assigned to the mixer. Thanks in advance! Clint
  14. Hi all, I am hoping that someone in farawayland can help... Mainly I play acoustic - a Martin D-28 with an Anthem SL. In need of a delay, my first choice was a Boss DD-7, but attracted by the possibility of presets, I bought a Pocket Pod. Last night I played around with various delay times and feedback and set six or so presets for particular songs. I thought that I had bypassed everything except the delay, ie: Cabinet Tuning = Direct; Cabinet Model = No Cab, but after the first set today I had to unplug from the Pocket Pod, because it had affected my tone so much. Everything was very toppy - nicely balanced across all frequencies, but completely lacking "fullness". Again, I am pretty sure that through Vyzex I had all possible culprit switches turned off - particularly EQ. Last minute, last night, I was setting the presets through my Genelec monitors in my control room and suspected that there was some serious colouring happening, but I don't normally put the Anthem SL through those monitors! A sensible guitarist would have set up the PA and realised that there was an issue. As it's the silly season, I suspect that Support won't be free to answer questions, but as it is the silly season I have quite a lot of gigs so would appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks muchly...
  15. After about six months of hovering over the "Add to cart" button at guitarguitar.co.uk, I've finally ordered a Helix and should have it tomorrow. I've been entirely software based since moving on from my old Pod XT Live some years ago, but I still have my small family of Variaxes: an original 500, an Acoustic 700, and a 705 bass. The acoustic probably sees the most use these days because as much of a pain as it is to wire up the PSU/DI box with the TRS cable, it's still less hassle than micing up my Larivee when I just want to put down a scratch track. Anyway, I've had a dig through the forums, and I haven't really found a definitive answer on this: To what extent are these guitars compatible with the Helix? To be clear, I'm not overly concerned about controlling the guitars from the Helix - or vice versa - but I'd hope to be able to at least power the guitars via the VDI input and send audio. I'll happily tweak settings manually on the guitars themselves, and I don't intend on getting into any deep editing, so I'm okay not having Workbench. Thanks!
  16. Hey everyone, I just wanted to take a minute and share some fun I had with the Helix last week. I work at a church and typically use Helix as my all in one electric guitar rig. Recently, however, I've been using Helix as an effect board running into an amp. Last week I also needed an acoustic guitar for one of the songs so I set that up through Helix as well. Electric guitar through the guitar input, using the 1/4in out and the Acoustic through the Aux input and XLR Out. Worked great! It was great having access to all of the reverbs and delays with the acoustic guitar and it all worked seamlessly together. For many of you, this might not be much of a revelation but I had a lot of fun working it out and using it!
  17. Hi everyone! So I'm trying to figure out the best way to setup my HD500x. For live shows, I use an electric through a fender hot rod deville, an acoustic, and a mandolin. I'd like all of my effects to go through the HD500x for all instruments. But, obviously, I don't want the acoustic or mandolin running through my amp. Ideally, I'd like to set it up to where each instrument would be able to have a separate channel for mixing. But since this is impossible (to my knowledge at least), what is the best way to set this up? For only the electric to go through the amp and the mandolin and acoustic basically be run direct. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

  19. I've been using an HD500 for a long time, and it's upgrade time. I play electric violin, and MIDI-controlled Whammy 5 is an integral part of my rig. I have a Molten Voltage Osmosis, which selects presets, sets Whammy pedal position, and also calls up presets on my Source Audio EQ. From what I've been reading, I will probably have to keep at least the Whammy, and probably the Osmosis, as well. Right now, I'm looking to set up the Helix rack in an 8u rack, with drawer-mounted pedals, and probably a rack EQ. I like having access to a hardware EQ at all times. My first question: Can the Helix floor/rack floorboard send more than one MIDI command at a time? Three to five commands would be nice. If I could leave the Osmosis at home, I might be convinced to get the floor processor instead of the rack version. Second question: Can the floorboards be set up with completely customized layouts? For example: Top row: bank up, preset 1, preset 2, preset 3, looper, snapshot 1 Bottom row: bank down, MIDI command 1, MIDI command 2, MIDI command 3, snapshot 2, tap/tuner Third question: Can a 3rd party controller(FCB1010, HD500, etc) be set up to access presets, snapshots, send MIDI PC/CC, tempo? I'm not concerned with changing preset parameters during performance. If the presets and snapshots are all MIDI accessible, then I will be able to do just about everything I want. Fourth question: Are there any internal LFO, like the Fractal processors have? Last question: Is the input impedance seriously topped out at 1 Megohm? I have a good preamp, but I never had to use it with the HD500. Not a huge deal, but I was really surprised at that.
  20. I've been working on my Helix acoustic patch, using one of the ubiquitous Taylor IRs, and this is the best I've gotten so far. I'm really curious to hear other people's best tones, for purposes of knowing how good it can sound and learning how to improve my own. This is an Eastman Grand Auditorium (similar to a Taylor, with a rather poor-sounding Fishman undersaddle piezo). I rolled off some highs and reduced the output on the guitar itself. Helix chain is: Graphic EQ, Taylor U87 IR, Parametric EQ, Deluxe Comp, Delay, Plate Reverb. I played a simple G, C, D strumming thing, with a little single note run at the end. This should be easy to duplicate. I'm mostly interested in optimizing the strumming sound, which I find to be the Achilles heel of most guitar pickup systems. If you have done some work on this type of patch and would like to share your sound in a clip, or have suggestions for how you get your best sound, please share! Thanks. https://soundcloud.com/billlorentzen/acoustic-patch-helix-u87-eastman
  21. I have the following setup: Fender Deluxe Strat (USA) Martin D28 acoustic with Fishman Acoustic Matrix Natural II under-saddle pickup Fender Deluxe Reverb combo amp Morley ABC switcher SP compressor pedal Fullton Fulldrive 3 Overdrive pedal L R Baggs Para DI Acoustic preamp Line6 Relay G30 wireless system Using the Relay G30 feeding into the Morley switcher, I can route the Strat into either of the Deluxe Reverb’s channels – with or without the FX units - with no problems. However, when I change to the Martin, using the switcher to route it through the Baggs unit to the amp’s Vibrato channel, significant high-frequency interference occurs, which fluctuates as I move the guitar and wireless transmitter around. Using a cable from the Martin to the Baggs unit (i.e. no wireless), this does not occur. Either the Fishman or the Baggs unit is disagreeing with the wireless transmitter. All advice/suggestions gratefully received.
  22. Well, if Guitar Center won't take back my G10, maybe Line 6 will.... Big fan of Line 6 products in general, but this is simply unacceptable. You guys needed to do more testing with various guitars before releasing this product. I am guessing here, but it seems that active electronics in acoustic guitars that use BRAIDED cables for the pickups have issues with interference. It's bad. It's high-frequency, digital-sounding noise and it's not anywhere near "typical" or tolerable. I have an Emerald X-20 acoustic. Originally equipped with a B-Band A3T system. My G10 worked just great with it, however I had quality issues with the system, so B-Band sent me a replacement. The new pickup design included a braided shield over the pickup cable. This is when the noise started with the G10. Using a guitar cable, the noise went away. After having yet more quality issues with B-Band (and Emerald quit using them as a supplier), I had Emerald install their updated LR Baggs Element system. This, too, has a braided pickup cable. And the noise is even worse than before. The guitar is dead silent when using a normal cable. Yes, I've tried the mono-to-mono adapter trick. No relief from the noise. In addition, this new LR Baggs system seems to suffer from the "reverse polarity" issue, whereby the system won't even work at all when plugged directly into the guitar. It's been more than 45 days, but I'm going to see if Guitar Center will take this thing back. It's simply not worth the hassle. For whatever reason, my 15-year old Yamaha (yes, it has an active preamp) works fine with the G10. But I simply cannot accept the noise coming from the Emerald, and it's not the guitar's fault. Any solutions before I return this inferior product, Line 6 people???
  23. Are there any really good acoustic IR's that work with single coils? Free or not, I don't care.
  24. I just got a JTV69 and probably for the same reasons as man others - so I can go to a gig with only 1 guitar. No more capo, no more 2nd guitar, no more separate rig for acoustic guitar... sounds like Nirvana (not the band :-)). Anyway I was checking out the acoustic sounds today and I was not really impressed. I was playing through a pretty high quality "Tech21 Paradriver DI" preamp into my powermixer (as I would with a real acoustic) but the sounds were not realistic. Sometimes sounded more like listening to a synthesizer than a guitar. Any advice? Please don't say I need to get a Pod HD and DT25 just for good acoustic sounds, I have a wonderful tube amp that I love already for my electric sounds. I have been compromising on the songs where I wanted to play acoustic, by playing very clean electric with some chorus etc. but I was hoping to get a realistic acoustic sound out of the JTV... one big reason for buying it. Next gig in 11 days! Thanks Pat
