  1. I've noticed that when I use a drop tuning on the Alt Tunings if I palm mute on strings higher than the low E it makes an odd warbling sound. I updated the firmware but that seems to make no change. I have seen from other posts this could be a setup issue, but they were having problems with all the alt tunings. When I use a standard tuning so all the strings are dropped evenly it works fine, it's just drop tunings that act weird. I have debated removing the non-Variax pickup as I never use it anyway (my rig is Shuriken Variax Sr270 into a Helix Floor), but I wanna check to see if I can fix this problem without. I tune the guitar to D standard physically.
  2. I know I can set up different Variax tunings for different snapshots within a preset on my Helix Floor. However, I'm already using 4 snapshots within my main preset to give me different amp/fx/drive etc. (typical Clean, Edge of Breakup, Crunch and Lead snapshots). I am in Stomp/Snap mode, giving me 4 footswitches on the top row and my 4 snapshots on the bottom row. What I REALLY want to do is use three of the footswitches to switch between 3 different Variax tunings independently of whatever snapshot I have selected - i.e. I want to be able to use each of the tunings on any of my 4 snapshots. Is this possible?
  3. Hi all, My JTV 89 has started acting screwy with alt tunings. Didn't find anything that matched in my forum search, so I thought I'd go ahead and post. Plugged into my jtv 89 tonight, switched to an alt tuning and the tuning was off, as in not correct. For example, switching to drop C gave me a tuning of DGCFAD. I noticed most, but not all of my alt tunings were incorrect. I kept screwing with it and noticed that sometimes switching from one alt tuning to another didn't affect any change in tuning at all. At other times, switching to a different tuning would yield an oscillation, as though the computer couldn't decide which tuning it should be in. I've had this guitar for well over a year now and have never seen this kind of behavior. What do you guys (and gals) suggest? Thanks.
