  1. Hi All, I found that some amp blocks have the parameter of "presence". Actually, what does it use for? or how it change the tone? Thanks for your input!
  2. Ok so I am considering purchasing the POD HD500X because I am looking for a multi-effects processor with many different options and the ability to have many different presets. But what I want to do is run the effects from the POD but still have my particular amplifiers tone. Now I have a Bugera 333xl head with a B-52 4x12 cab, and I want to keep that tone and only use the POD for the effects. I have seen and read about the 4 cable method and I have the ability to do that with my effects loop, but when I go onstage I usually have to setup quickly, so I was wondering if it's still possible to just plug the guitar into the POD and have the other cable go straight to the front of my Bugera head and use no amp tones (from the POD) and only the effects but I can't seem to find a straight answer out there. I am looking forward to your responses and thanks in advance for the help.
  3. In few words: I want to start a song with a clean sound of a fender tweed and then change it to a distorted sound of a Mesa Boogie. Let's say that I want to play Fade to Black from metallica, how can I change between these two amps using just one footswitch? I have pod hd500X for over a year and I just can't do that, its so frustrating. Thank you!
  4. Howdy all, _Apologies moderators if this is in the wrong forum.. figured it might get a few more hits if it’s in the main forum_.. Having been part of the Fractal Forum (however no longer because I’m a loud and proud HELIX user J), and Kemper Forum, and now the Line 6 Helix forum, I’ve noticed that in particular here in the Helix forum, there’s a huge amount of FRFR discussions, but there’s minimal discussions about players that don’t necessarily use FRFR. This could quite easily be because the bigger majority of players in this Line 6 forum ARE mainly FRFR users/players. This isn’t an anti-FRFR topic or discussion, it’s more about expanding on this forum and perhaps growing the capabilities of the Helix and sharing wins/strategies/tones etc etc. On the Fractal and Kemper forums, there are many discussions about FRFR, but there’s also a lot of discussions and banter about power amps + cabs + Kemper or Axe FX, _not just FRFR_. Is it worth having a forum or chat room for the players that mainly use their Helix rig in a non-FRFR situation? It’s all well and good to download and trade patches with one another that are FRFR; however from what I can ascertain on this forum, at least 90% of all things discussed is FRFR based, with not a lot of input on power amp + cab + Helix and so forth. Again, having owned and played all 3 modellers, I personally keep resorting back to a valve power amp + cab + Helix because that not only works for me, but the band that I play in as well. FRFR is the perfect bedroom solution (which a majority of us forum’ites are, presumably), however, I just think it’d be good to have a place to chat, trade ideas etc that are not always FRFR based.. Food for thought I guess..
  5. Hi, i have a HD500x and have a lot of great distortion tones. My complaint is about clean tones.... Looking at the amp models the hd500x models, for me there´s really only one that can have a pure clean sound (the blackface - fender twin reverb)... All the others have at least a little crunch even with very little volume. I really think L6 should offer for us at leat one or two more really clean amps. I feel restricted when i want to create a very clean sound as i only have one option as amplifier and even with the blackface, when i want more output so it doesn´t sound a lot lower than the distortions, it gets a little crunchy. I am doing something wrong to get clean tones from the other amps available? Does anyone have any hints on how to get a good variety of really clean sounds on the HD500x?? Thanks.
  6. I have a line 6 spider 4 15 watt amp that i bought from a friend of myn. When i first got it worked perfectly. afer a few weeks i noticed that the sound was dull and it was not the volume becuase i turned it up. Out of frustration i hit the top of the amp and the sound got louder nd clearer for a few seconds. Thats when i was sure that something was wrong. I can not seem to find what is the problem and i am hoping that someone here can help me. Thanks.
  7. I'm going to connect my POD HD500 to my Laney Lionheart combo L120T-112. I found this article: http://amplifya.com/setting-up-your-tube-amp-with-a-pod-hd500/ and it references a Line 6 primer on the subject which is supposed to be found here: http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2523. This link is broken. I suppose Line6 have forgotten to update it when they renewed their site. But as the article recommends it I would love to have a look! Where can I find it? I'm aware of several videos on YouTube on the subject, but anyway ...
  8. Hi everyone, what about something a little bit smaller than POD? ;) http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Amp-Preamp-Stompbox-with-effects-loop-and-headphone-output/836960-23508
  9. Hi there, Does anybody know what kind of DAC and/or amp is behind the headphone out jack on the Firehawk FX? When I connect the Firehawk to my computer via USB and play AIFF for FLAC files from iTunes, the music has much more clarity, instrument separation, and clean power than just plugging headphones straight into my iMac headphone jack. Jamming with my favorite songs is a very high sound quality experience. I use Sennheiser HD598 headphones, so that helps. Because the result it similar to using a dedicated USB DAC/headphone amp combo, I just wondered what's in the Firehawk that makes it sound so good. Anybody know? Or is that a trade secret?
  10. Edit: I accidentally posted this in the wrong forum so..... Hey guys, I was hoping to get some advice for a problem I'm having. I use my POD HD500x with my amp's head using the four-cable method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZtY8bS-GQ0). Since I've been using it like that, it's been great with no problems at all. But recently my amp became too quiet to hear over the drums, and I've had to crank the volume to around 1 o'clock, while previously keeping it at around 8 o'clock would be plenty loud. I thought perhaps it was time to change my tubes (it was gonna have to happen one day anyway), so I retubed the head, and tried playing today and it was still too quiet. The amp's probably not the issue, because it is still very loud when I plug the guitar directly into the input If I use the amp, and in the FX Loop use a noise gate (fx send -> gate -> fx return), it's still just as loud If, in the FX loop, I use the POD, it makes it very quiet, even when my guitar is going directly into the input. So if I use a noise gate on the POD and put it in the FX Loop (fx send -> pod with only gate -> fx return), it's quiet, but as soon as I unplug it from the FX return, it's back to being loud. This makes me think that there might be something wrong with the POD, but when I practice at home using headphones it's fine. I've also checked to see if it's my cab, by swapping it with a different head (it's not) and if it's my head, by swapping it with a different cab (also not the issue). As far as I can remember I haven't touched any of the settings on the POD, the master volume is always to max, etc. If anyone can offer me some guidance or help troubleshooting it'd be much appreciated. I've got a feeling that nothing is actually broken, but I'm stumped. I've also attached what my settings are on the POD just in case, but I don't think that has anything to do with it

  12. Hello all, At the moment I run my Pod HD Pro X through a ISP Stealth power amp into a harley benton closed back 2x12 loaded with vintage 30 speakers. For rehearsals/local gigs this setup is perfect but in a month I'll be hitting the road and cant take the whole setup with me, just the pod to run di. I use the BF Double Nrm on all my patches with the cab sim turned off, what cab/mic sim combo would work best for getting a similar tone to my irl cab? Hoping some Pod guru's can lend me some valuable information. TIA
  13. Odd reoccurring problem. I'll be playing along with this one preset I developed. Everything is fine then I switch to solo boost with amazing tone. Tap foot-switch to go back and zero sound. The Helix is the floor model, I have the latest App & F/W, and every other preset is not showing any signs of problematic behavior, As a test I copied it to another preset location in the same setlist but several areas above. Worked a few times then back to zero volume. I don't save and tap another preset then it works fine. Also, this preset is extremely DSP loaded. So, I am not sure if I have hit some alien DSP zone where I actually got the system to let me go to max DSP +1n and it realizes I tricked it into being overloaded at some point or if there is some real issue. Anyone here experience anything close to similar? Thanks Dennis
  14. I recently saw these go on sale at Sweetwater for $799. maybe I can talk them down to $499 or $599 I've been in the market for a good tube amp, and was looking at a Pevey 6505+ and a Mesa Rectoverb. not so sure about spending $1300 on a Mesa amp, and the 6505 is basically a Metal Monster, not great with the cleans. my question is Would this amp be suited well for Jazz and Hard rock/Metal; I Never plan to use a POD 500 or anything like that, I have a very nice pedal board I've worked on for a few years, or would I be better off looking at other tube amps for playing live?
  15. So I would like to record my guitars sound coming from my amp straight into my computer. Obviously, this is why I'm using a UX2. Problem is, when I go from the "emulated headphones" output on the amp to the UX2 input, it seems that the UX2 does not process anything. The needles do not move at all, both at 0. I have tried both PAD an NORMAL inputs. It picks up when I use my guitar directly into the UX2. The amp works on its own, it is just this connection between the amp and UX2. Any ideas?
  16. Here is a throwback question for any die hard line 6 fans out there... Which would you rather have line 6's newer spider valve mkii whether it be a 112, 212 or the head OR would you rather have a little known or maybe just forgotten AX2 212 modeling amp from the 90's.. and Why? -hellspoolboy
  17. Hello Everybody, I have just purchased an Helix ans I would like to know how to setup a simple configuration that suits my need : Every day I practice at home on computer with backing tracks (for now I used Line6 UX2 audio card). Every week I go to the rehearsal music studio with my band. I use an existing amp + cab. It is not always the same (Fender, Blackstar, ...) so I should rely too much on learning the settings of a specific one. Every month I go to a concert where I usually plug directly into the PA. Rarely, I would like to use my Fender Blues Junior which has only an input and no effect loop. Well, I think I am quite new to this despite the fact I am really a geek for a living and I play the guitar for almost 20 years now. If you have any advice, please don't hesitate to write ! :) Thanks very much guys, Poukill

  19. I have a Crate stack and head with an input, insert, and two jacks for a foot switch. Upon research I can see that the Insert jack is for effect pedals, and I need an insert jack or a y-cable (which I haven't gotten to try out yet) I haven't been able to find anything related to these insert jacks and the pod HD500 and I'm wondering if the pod would work if I somehow plugged it into the insert jack and where would I plug the two jacks on the Y side to the pod? Sorry if I don't make sense. I'm not sure I understand how the fx return stuff works on amps and the pod.
  20. Hello, Everybody What option of amp do I have if I want to plug in stereo power amp / fx return (2 entries, Left and Right), less than 800 bucks, solidstate/tube and 2 speakers? I know Fender Mustang IV has all this, any other? If you own one, what is your opinion? Thanks
  21. I've been really curious about the Helix, (like every guitarist with an internet connection) but I have some questions before I go out and spend that kind of money. The first I have is, what kind of amps/ speakers are most compatible with the Helix? Would a regular PA System work, or would I need to get an FRFR speaker, such as the StageSource? Lastly, does the Helix have a built-in amp/preamp, or does it just "model" the amps? Thanks :)
  22. Hello, I've had some questions about the Helix ever since it came out, and I'd like some insight before I make such a large purchase. What kind of amp or speakers are most compatible with the Helix? Would it work with a PA System, or would some FRFR speakers such as the StageSources work better? Also, does it have a built in amp/preamp, or does it just simulate the amps in a pedal format? Lastly, would the Helix make plugging into a house sound through direct box sound as good as if I was plugged into an amp and mic'd?
  23. Hey, so, when I first got my pod, I was playing mostly through my Spider III - I set up my presets for it, and it sounded okay like that. However, recently, my Spider went to crap on me, and so I've been playing mostly through headphones - and I realized just how entirely different EVERYTHING sounded. So, I started all my tones from scratch, and have everything sounding really nice through headphones. Now I'm looking to replace my Spider so I can actually play out loud, and I'm wondering what would work better - to chain like: Guitar->Pod->combo-amp, or if I can essentially use the Pod as an amp head, not bother with a combo amp, and go directly to a speaker cab. What are the pros and cons of each setup?
  24. Hi, I have a POD HD500 which I mainly use for delay and reverb etc and I would like to put the pedal board into my effects loop on my mesa dual rec. I wanted to do this as the mesa has a foot switch that can turn the effects loop on and off and is super convenient to be able to use the effects on different channels of the amp. What is the correct was to go about doing this? The mesa has an effects loop send and return but I have no idea where to plug the 2 cords into the pedal go. Would it be - amp effect loop send <----> POD guitar in amp effects loop return <----> POD Unbalanced Output L/Mono So far i have my guitar plugged into a boss ns-2 out the front, then straight into the amp input but where should i plug the amp effects loop send and return into the pedal? Thanks very much!!!!
  25. Hi friends! I've got an HD500 running into one DT25 combo amp. Recently fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm clean tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote)! I haven't found a setting or overdrive pedal to fix this. I've always loved the AC30 overdrive - tight, warm, not farty or fuzzy, but the clean is a bit... sterile. I want the warm clean of the BFx2 but the tight crunchy overdrive of the AC30! I considered using a dual amp mode, but it's confusing which amp is controlling the actual DT25 wiring, and I felt I just got the worst of both worlds. My warm, clean tone from the BFx2 was gone. I welcome any advice for improvements, whether they be the perfect adjustments to the BF-Double to fix the farty overdrive, advice for dual amps with one DT-25, the perfect overdrive pedal (with settings), an alternative to the BFx2 model, or even ditching the HD500 amp models with the perfect DT-25 settings, etc... Thanks!!! Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Looking for more of a Brit crunch, perhaps some U2 like tone (who also uses an AC30). My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
