  1. Ok so I am considering purchasing the POD HD500X because I am looking for a multi-effects processor with many different options and the ability to have many different presets. But what I want to do is run the effects from the POD but still have my particular amplifiers tone. Now I have a Bugera 333xl head with a B-52 4x12 cab, and I want to keep that tone and only use the POD for the effects. I have seen and read about the 4 cable method and I have the ability to do that with my effects loop, but when I go onstage I usually have to setup quickly, so I was wondering if it's still possible to just plug the guitar into the POD and have the other cable go straight to the front of my Bugera head and use no amp tones (from the POD) and only the effects but I can't seem to find a straight answer out there. I am looking forward to your responses and thanks in advance for the help.
  2. I've got a Peavey 6505+ and I'm wanting to know if I can run my Pod hd pro before and after the actual amp, like I'll explain what I want to do: I want to run the pods effects like comp, gate and things like that before my peaveys pre amp and then run things like delay reverb and eq's n what not after my peaveys pre amp and before the peaveys power amp section So sort of like: Guitar-> pod guitar input (run some fxs)-> Peavey guitar input-> get peavey distortion -> fx loop send of peavey to pod-> pod fx-> pod out to peavey fx loop return-> Power amp output to actual cab. So I won't need to run a amp and cab simulator in the chain on the pod obviously. Anyone able to let me know if I can do this and if so how I would arrange for the pod to put the delay on the fx loop send and returns instead of through the guitar input at the start before the pre amp Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello, I would like to ask the question. Is it possible to connect my guitar amp Roland Cube XL20 (AUX IN) into the Line6 UX2? Somewhere I read that it is not recommended to conect amp via phones output so I have decided to use left and right analog outs on UX2 and connect it into AUX IN in my Roland Amp (by using a cable like that in the file attached). Is it a good idea? Or, do you recommend another solution? Thanks a lot for your answers. JiR
  4. Ok, This is noob question but I have seen some very detailed setups for pod hd connections for Amps. What I usually do is connect guitar to guitar input Connect output left (mono) to the guitar in on amp. Change the setting to live on back of pod. Change the setting to stack front or combo amp front (depending on what rehearsal room I am in ) Sometimes it sounds good , sometimes it doesn't . What is the reason for the 3 cable and 4 cable methods of connecting to an amp? If it can give me a better sound I am all for it but unsure of why people are doing this. Please forgive my lack of knowledge in guitar amps .
  5. Hi, I have a POD HD500 which I mainly use for delay and reverb etc and I would like to put the pedal board into my effects loop on my mesa dual rec. I wanted to do this as the mesa has a foot switch that can turn the effects loop on and off and is super convenient to be able to use the effects on different channels of the amp. What is the correct was to go about doing this? The mesa has an effects loop send and return but I have no idea where to plug the 2 cords into the pedal go. Would it be - amp effect loop send <----> POD guitar in amp effects loop return <----> POD Unbalanced Output L/Mono So far i have my guitar plugged into a boss ns-2 out the front, then straight into the amp input but where should i plug the amp effects loop send and return into the pedal? Thanks very much!!!!
  6. I need help in knowing how to connect my guitar, Floor Por Plus pedal and my amp. My amp has the SEND/RECIEVE inputs and I want to use the amp presets inside the Flood Pod Plus as well as distortion and other effects. Thanks.
  7. Hello all, I can't find it today, but I saw somewhere on here instructions for sending two outputs from the HD500X - one direct to the mixing console and another to my amp. IIRC: XLR Left Output to the mixing console and the 1/4" Left output to my amp. Does that sound correct? What output setting do you recommend I use? Thanks for helping out a noob.
  8. Is there a way to restore the factory model settings to their original values and without affecting the currently saved presets under the A, B, C, D buttons? For the most part, all but one of the amp/cab models is fine. However, there's just no way the Blackface Lux can be right. It's very thin and the level is much lower than other similar amp/cab settings. I suspect that the previous owner had somehow modified and saved this... if that's possible. Hope that's the case and that I can get it back to something more reasonable.
  9. Hi, (First of all sorry for my bad english) I've just got my POD X3 Live and have some doubts... My AMP is a Bugera v22. For now, i'm using the POD as an usual Stomp box, Guitar -> Guitar In -> Left out -> AMP Input and then configure the patches to act as a stomp box. Ex: Screamer or RAT + Delay. The fact is that i'm not fully happy with the result. Someone have some tip? I'm thinking about to use the amp only as a Cabinet through the effects loop. Anyone use the POD with a tube amp too? Thanks
  10. I have a mesa boogie stereo amp setup and i love the sound of it and dont want to color the sound using my hd400 which i also love but how can i make a preset that does not effect my normal amp tones no change at all to my amp tone i want to be able to create patches that start with my clean tone (boogie) be able to use a patch (hd400) then go back to the clean boogie n use my seperate boogie footswitch for overdrive using the amp only as well as be able to switch back and forth between hd400 patches at will. When i use the fx mode (hd400) and i bank up or down it doesnt go back to fx only it stays in bank up or down mode only any help would be greatly apprecc thanks this has really limited my use of the hd 400 ron garf
  11. I have the hd500. Heard good things about both the DT25 & L2t. What have others purchased? Would like to get other users thoughts on this
  12. Is there a way to get this knobs? i've been looking for this knobs at online store (including ebay) without luck, my Master Knob of my Spider IV fell off, a friend of mine loose it and is annoying. He told me he will buy it for me but i cant find it. Thanks
  13. Hi, I've had my spider III, 75watt for a few years now. It's been fine apart from the plastic nut that holds the MP3 line in comes off regularly. however I've made sure it's been locked in fine recently. However after what I can assume to be a power cut a couple of weeks ago, the MP3-in/ Line-in, instead of playing the input aloud it simply sends out a full volume buzzing feedback noise as soon as the jack is in. It doesn't matter if the volume on the input is mute or if the guitar jack is in also, when in only guitar mode it amps it the guitar fine, full range treble to bass. I'm thinking there may be a separate fuse for the MP3-in line, which has now blown maybe? Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and managed to sort it, i'm thinking it's gunna be a take apart job? Any help would be Great! Thanks a lot.
  14. I have the Spider IV 30 -- the old model, with just four presets. When I change from one preset channel to another, on some channels I get hum/buzz/static, which disappears when I fiddle with the channel volume/drive knobs. Is this just one of those things that everyone experiences or can I adjust something to eliminate/minimize that? I also noticed that the volume differs from preset channel to channel -- goes way up or down as I switch. Any way to standardize the volume so that it remains the same as I change channels?
  15. I'm playing at home, so trying to keep things relatively quiet, but I'd like to get the best sound possible from the various Spider setting options (I'm all over the map, jazz, rock, blues, country). Am I going to get better sound quality if I turn the channel volume up on the amp and down on the guitar, or down on the amp and up on my guitar. I've been messing around and amp down/guitar up sometimes seems better, but I'm not sure. And if that's the way to go, how far down on the amp should I turn the volume? So, simply put: which guitar volume and amp drive, channel volume, and bass/mid-range/treble settings will give me the best sound quality at low volume?
  16. Hi, all, when I got my Spider IV 30, I messed around with the original presets -- now I'd like to get them back. I have an amp with only four presets, not the newer one with many more. Any suggestions?
  17. Hey what's up guys. A new user to the forum, but I've been using line 6 products for quite some time. Do a lot of mixing/AE work and looking to get better. That's besides the point :P So, I just picked up a PODHD500X and this thing is pretty amazing thus far. Have gotten some really great tones out of it already with the many custom amp/cab tweaks you can make. - We want to run this in a live application for gigs, however going into a cab does not give enough output volume to even be mic'd + the guitarist would like to hear what he's playing. - We have run this direct -in, however the monitor feedback gets a bit 'whiny' when standing too close to the monitors and is not a preferred method of running the pod. (Unless we go in-ears, but that's dropping a bit of cash) I've gone over the pedal settings a lot and as far as I know, I have all the volume settings adjusted at max, but it's still not cutting it. TL;DR- Running this into a cab, how do you maximize sound output? Cheers!
  18. Hello Everyone, my first time posting to the forums. I've done a quick search on this and haven't found anything that gave any answers to my question....but sorry if this has been already answered and I just overlooked it. Anyway.... I recently purchased a Spider Jam combo amp and been trying to figure out how to connect the damn thing to my brand shiny new Macbook Pro? Do I need to go through the SD Card, or is there some sort of wires/cables like USB I could use? As for software on my Mac (OS X 10.8.4), for right now I'm just gonna use Garage Band. Mainly what I'm hoping to do is record my guitar to some of the backing tracks provided on the amp, and then share them with my Guitar Instructor. Any help or info about this would be greatly appreciated :)
  19. I just recently updated my Spider IV 150 to current specs and am exploring the new Gain effects. One thing that has always bothered me with modeling amps is the slight delay when switching amp models or channels (from A to B etc.) It occurred to me that with the new Gain effects, you don't have to switch channels to switch to your dirty sound. It's almost like the difference between switching channels and stepping on a distortion pedal (which I assume is what Line 6 was going for). My only issue is that the Gain stomps just don't quite have the same feeling as the amp models with drive cranked up. I've found that Tube Driver gets pretty close for a good rock to metal sounds, when compared to the cranked Class A Red or Insane Red. The Screamer is nice too but, I don't know how to describe it... I suppose what I kept running into is two conflicting EQs between the amp model and the stomp model (which just took time to find a good balance or just pick a new FX1 option) and a difference in output level, the cleans always seem to be more full and a little louder then when I kick in the Stomp effect. In the end I guess what I'm asking is if other people run into this to, how they deal with it, how they use the Gain effects, if anybody has some tips how to apply those effects along with channel volume, gain, drive etc. and lastly do people prefer to switch from A to B for clean/dirty or use the effects? Thanks!!!!
  20. Hello everyone I have a Studio GX and I was wondering if there is any way to put the line output to my amp so the sound comes through my amp and I don't need any headphones to hear what I'm playing. I know a Studio GX has a 1/8-inch guitar headphone/line output and a Studio UX1 has a 1x 1/4-inch headphone out so I should probably buy the UX1. But since I already have the GX, it would probably be cheaper to buy some converter/adapter(?) that converts a 1/8-inch output to 1/4-inch output so I can connect it to my amp. So my question is: Is it possible to connect my Studio GX to my amp with some kind of converter because I know its possible to convert a 1/4-inch to 1/8 inch since I have such a headphone. And will the quality of the sound be the same? Also will it damage my amp in any way if I would do that?
  21. edit: no one replied so I'd rather change the message so no one stumbles upon this thread looking for an answer to a similar problem. thanks for the help line 6 forums
  22. Hi, I'm an intermediate guitarist who has owned a Spider IV amp for a long time and has been souly living off switching between the preset tones on the left dial (Metal, Insane, Twang etc...). I am not an expert and know next to nothing about amplifiers so if you could help me out here, thank you. There's 4 channel buttons at the top which are presets for a certain tone, When I change the tone on that channel, it reverts back to the standard built-in tone and forgets my customisations, how do I get it to save the changes? Sorry if this is extremely vague, the amplifier jargon hasn't sunk in yet. Still learning. Thanks :D
  23. Hi, I need some advice to match my Spider III 4x12 cab with a Krank Rev Jr Pro. The spider cab has two 8ohms inputs running in stereo and the left side input running 4 ohms in mono, my amp has a 16/8 ohms switch, i would like to know if it will be rigth to connect my amp with the swiitch in 8 ohms, to the right side of the spider cab, will this deactivated the left side of the spider cab, letting me use the 8 ohms side of the cab? thanks for your help!
