  1. Hey guys. I recently sold a great part of my big old rack system, including my Velocity 120 PowerAmp. Now I have the 2x12 sitting there, doing nothing, just annoying more and more my wife. Anyway, I would like to ask you all, for some suggestion on what amp to use with Helix. I don't intend to keep the 2x12. So, I will need something with speaker(s). I do use the amp simulation from helix, which is a big part of my sound. So, I would need the "cleanest sound amp" as possible. I don't care if it is SS or tube, since it gives me a very clean and flat sound (FRFR would be great, but it is not essential). I play only at home, so don't need much more than 20 - 30 watts. I was thinking about the ZT Lunchbox. Really small it has some good reviews. *I saw somewhere, I think in FB page, that someone was using with Acpustic amps. is it good to use it with? Will it be damaged using to much distortion and heavy sounds? (stupid question, I know). Anyway, any suggestion is very appreciated! Cheers, Leo
  2. I recently saw these go on sale at Sweetwater for $799. maybe I can talk them down to $499 or $599 I've been in the market for a good tube amp, and was looking at a Pevey 6505+ and a Mesa Rectoverb. not so sure about spending $1300 on a Mesa amp, and the 6505 is basically a Metal Monster, not great with the cleans. my question is Would this amp be suited well for Jazz and Hard rock/Metal; I Never plan to use a POD 500 or anything like that, I have a very nice pedal board I've worked on for a few years, or would I be better off looking at other tube amps for playing live?
  3. So I would like to record my guitars sound coming from my amp straight into my computer. Obviously, this is why I'm using a UX2. Problem is, when I go from the "emulated headphones" output on the amp to the UX2 input, it seems that the UX2 does not process anything. The needles do not move at all, both at 0. I have tried both PAD an NORMAL inputs. It picks up when I use my guitar directly into the UX2. The amp works on its own, it is just this connection between the amp and UX2. Any ideas?
  4. Hi all, I'm currently trying to build a rig with both my trusty POD HD Pro X and my new EVH 5150-III. Currently I'm using the POD direct to FOH and patch changes are taken care off by Cubase through the MIDI connections. As the 50W 5150 is also MIDI compatible I figured to design a rig with the POD to FOH and the 5150 for stage sound. Now I was wondering whether it's OK or not to connect the "dry out" on the back of the POD to the regular guitar input of the 5150? I know a little bit about impedances and line volumes, but not enough to judge whether solution would damage the tube amp. Who can help me? :) Thanks in advance!

  6. I have a Crate stack and head with an input, insert, and two jacks for a foot switch. Upon research I can see that the Insert jack is for effect pedals, and I need an insert jack or a y-cable (which I haven't gotten to try out yet) I haven't been able to find anything related to these insert jacks and the pod HD500 and I'm wondering if the pod would work if I somehow plugged it into the insert jack and where would I plug the two jacks on the Y side to the pod? Sorry if I don't make sense. I'm not sure I understand how the fx return stuff works on amps and the pod.
  7. Hello Everybody, I have just purchased an Helix ans I would like to know how to setup a simple configuration that suits my need : Every day I practice at home on computer with backing tracks (for now I used Line6 UX2 audio card). Every week I go to the rehearsal music studio with my band. I use an existing amp + cab. It is not always the same (Fender, Blackstar, ...) so I should rely too much on learning the settings of a specific one. Every month I go to a concert where I usually plug directly into the PA. Rarely, I would like to use my Fender Blues Junior which has only an input and no effect loop. Well, I think I am quite new to this despite the fact I am really a geek for a living and I play the guitar for almost 20 years now. If you have any advice, please don't hesitate to write ! :) Thanks very much guys, Poukill
  8. Hello, I've had some questions about the Helix ever since it came out, and I'd like some insight before I make such a large purchase. What kind of amp or speakers are most compatible with the Helix? Would it work with a PA System, or would some FRFR speakers such as the StageSources work better? Also, does it have a built in amp/preamp, or does it just simulate the amps in a pedal format? Lastly, would the Helix make plugging into a house sound through direct box sound as good as if I was plugged into an amp and mic'd?
  9. I've been really curious about the Helix, (like every guitarist with an internet connection) but I have some questions before I go out and spend that kind of money. The first I have is, what kind of amps/ speakers are most compatible with the Helix? Would a regular PA System work, or would I need to get an FRFR speaker, such as the StageSource? Lastly, does the Helix have a built-in amp/preamp, or does it just "model" the amps? Thanks :)
  10. So I had it all set up to get a new rig and yesterday my car decided to lollipop out on me and I had to pay a huge bill to get it repaired. I now only have a 2x12 cab and my HD500 and I've been reading around and found I can get a power amp to get a good signal from my HD500 to my cab, but mostly I see XLS1000 or so which put out 1000w of power so how is it that people can use this without blowing there speakers? Do they just crank the HD500 master and just leave the power amp at maybe 2? And if we're having a loud practice or playing shows how could I turn it up without blowing anything? I'm really looking for as much info as possible on this because now my dream rig is out of my reach and this is the only other thing I can do with having a brand new 2x12 sitting around collecting dust. I've been looking at an XLS, QSC, and my buddy at GC was looking around at his used stuff and saw an Altec Lansing 1210 and said it maybe awesome to try and only cost $60. Thanks for looking!
  11. Hi friends! I've got an HD500 running into one DT25 combo amp. Recently fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm clean tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote)! I haven't found a setting or overdrive pedal to fix this. I've always loved the AC30 overdrive - tight, warm, not farty or fuzzy, but the clean is a bit... sterile. I want the warm clean of the BFx2 but the tight crunchy overdrive of the AC30! I considered using a dual amp mode, but it's confusing which amp is controlling the actual DT25 wiring, and I felt I just got the worst of both worlds. My warm, clean tone from the BFx2 was gone. I welcome any advice for improvements, whether they be the perfect adjustments to the BF-Double to fix the farty overdrive, advice for dual amps with one DT-25, the perfect overdrive pedal (with settings), an alternative to the BFx2 model, or even ditching the HD500 amp models with the perfect DT-25 settings, etc... Thanks!!! Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Looking for more of a Brit crunch, perhaps some U2 like tone (who also uses an AC30). My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
  12. Just curious what styles of music you guys play, and which amp models you're diggin' in the Helix. Should be getting mine after the 12/18 ship date I was told... but not too confident that's when it'll be. And of course I love to hear what others are sayin' about this thing. Hit me!
  13. Hi everyone, I purchased the Line 6 Amplifi a couple months ago and it's been quite enjoyable. I've just started playing guitar so I find the pre-set tones that users have created to be very helpful as a beginner as I don't know the amp settings for a lot of songs. My main problem is that a lot of songs I want to play don't have tones already created or haven't been made by the community yet. Or they are quite low rating. So my question is, how do I create my own amp settings for songs I want to play? As I'm a beginner, I'm very unfamiliar with creating amp settings as I don't know is needed and it's hard for me to replicate a sound by ear. I'm a big fan of Muse and I want to play some of their songs such as: Supermassive black hole Stockholm Syndrome Showbiz New Born And various others. Some of these don't have any tones created and others have low ratings so I'm wondering how I can create my own? The manual isn't brilliant for this amp so I'm uncertain whether I can download a tone from online. Does anyone have any suggestions on how a beginner can create their own tones for songs? Thank you.
  14. I own a marshall MG 50 CFX and the Q acoustics 2020i speakers. Could I wire the Firehawk to both or should I only wire it up to one? https://marshallamps.com/products/amplifiers/mg-carbon-fibre/mg50cfx/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Q-Acoustics-2020i-Graph-Pr/dp/B006H4E1XU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1445290733&sr=8-2&keywords=q+acoustics+2020i
  15. I own a pod XT, which is great. But moving up the ladder I purchased a HD500x, even better. But there is one Amp that is missing, the Line 6 Chem X, which is present in the XT. This amp sound great, for my taste at least. Can this amp be added or transfered to the 500x somehow? Seperatly purchased? Or, which other amp comes closest to the Chem X? I need this amp in my 500X. Thanks for any info.
  16. Hey everybody! I'm actually in trouble finding the best amp and the settings I should use to have the perfect bass tone when I play 'Factory Of Faith' by RHCP... I have a Line6 POD UX2, and a Squier Precision Bass Special, with a Jazz bass mic and a P-Bass one. I already looked at the customtone section, but haven't find the tone I would. Any tips regarding the amp and the Bass / Treble / Mid settings which could be the best in the POD UX2? All suggestions welcome! Thanks!
  17. Hey guys new to the forum here hoping you can help out. I have a weird situation with my pod hd500x that has me stumped. I have a patch set up with 2 of the same amp(one top of chain and one directly below it). What I have done is set it to where only one amp is active at a time with the press of a button. (what this is accomplishing for me is adjusting a preset gain on the amp in question by actually switching to a different amp) The problem I am having is once I switch one amp off I get the "dry" bleed through in my live mix. any ideas?? I have a gig this weekend and I would like to figure this out. cheers, shawn
  18. Here is a throwback question for any die hard line 6 fans out there... Which would you rather have line 6's newer spider valve mkii whether it be a 112, 212 or the head OR would you rather have a little known or maybe just forgotten AX2 212 modeling amp from the 90's.. and Why? -hellspoolboy
  19. first off i apologize in advance if this is not allowed. i did google, "posting for sale items in line 6 forums" which led me to these posts saying it was kool: http://line6.com/support/topic/13072-is-it-ok-to-post-items-for-sale-on-these-forums/ Soooooooooooooo: im selling a wide range of musical and computer items on craigslist: here's the links to them: http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5093259514.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5092533634.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099325165.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5095991054.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5096013396.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099299581.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099277089.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/msg/5099259137.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/mob/5092433308.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/sop/5101647990.html http://newyork.craigslist.org/brx/sop/5101747736.html
  20. Hi everyone! I'm a big fan of the band Zle Psy. I love their sound and characteristic for them is... Rubble on the overdrive. It has a terrible kick. They are playing on Laboga Mr. Hector. I turn to you for help. You will help, maybe someone would do such a sound? I want to sound as close as possible. This ... Rubble. Here you have a sample.
  21. Still a little confused about something. Is the proper way to use this directly to speakers or directly to an amp? Which is going to sound better? Won't my amp affect the sound, considering this thing models other amps? Thanks!
  22. You can use the cabinet simulation without amp simulation? I would like to use a pedal valve that I have as a pre THROUGH Loop effects and cabinet simulation only. PODHD 500X

  24. I was trying to build a good dual amp setup with 2 x 5150 and when I tried to cut off some ugly high frequencies with the parametric EQ, the signal got distorted. Is this a bug? Can anyone give me a tip or tell me what am I doing wrong? Here is the patch: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jo6xl7hy6842rgr/Distorted%20signal.5xe?dl=0 Just turn on the parametric EQ and see what happens.
  25. I was playing guitar a few year ago and recently have decided to start playing again. Have ordered POD HD500X yesterday! Mainly going to play alone or with backtracks playing from phone or computer connected to POD HD500X. Maybe in future will also buy an electric piano to play together with my wife from time to time :) I'm stuck with choosing an output device to buy. I'd like to spend no more than $350. First question: combo or pair of monitors? With monitors I can get stereo sound and I heard there are some effects which use stereo, but I'm not sure I really need this... Second question: which particular model to choose in the price range? Here are some options and my thoughts about them. Please note, I didn't try any of these amplifiers and monitors. Combo amps: * Fender Mustang II V2 40-Watt 1x12-Inch, $200. Lots of good feedback on this series on reddit. Looks like plenty of people using them and are pretty happy. * Yamaha THR10, $300. I heard from a friend it has really great sound! But I'm not sure about this, is that it has amp modelling too. I'm buying HD500X, which does this job already, so I suppose I'll use "Flat" mode on the combo. Then why to pay for the rest? * Line 6 Spider IV 15 15-watt 1x8 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $100. Great reviews and very cheap. 15 watt probably will be enough to play at home? * Line 6 Spider IV 30 30-watt 1x12 Modeling Guitar Amplifier, $200. Bigger speaker. * Marshall MG30CFX MG Series 30-Watt, $200. * Fender Champion 40, $180 * Orange Crush Pix CR35LDX 1x10" 35-Watt Combo w/FX Orange, $250. But I probably don't need any fx... * Roland CUBE-10GX 10W 1x8 Guitar Combo Amp, $130 Combo amps with tubes: * Orange Micro Terror 20-Watt Head + Orange PPC108 1x8" 20-Watt Speaker Cabinet 8-ohm Orange, $100 + $150. Tube! * Vox VT20PLUS 20-Watt 1x8 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $180. Tube! * Laney Amps CUB All TUBE Series CUB 10 10-Watt 1x10 Guitar Combo Amplifier, $250. Tube! Monitors: * KRK RP5G3-NA Rokit 5 Generation 3 Powered Studio Monitor, $300 for pair. * JBL LSR305 5-inch Two-Way Powered Studio Monitor, $270 for pair. * Yamaha HS5 Powered Studio Monitor, $400 for pair with cables and stands. * Behringer Truth B1030a High-Resolution, Active 2-Way Reference Studio Monitors, $300 for pair. In my understanding these monitors are pretty a bottom line for monitors. I don't have in plans to make recordings in nearest future. I don't even have a nice table to place them on (working on a laptop). So maybe these are other reasons to buy a better combo amp, than cheap monitors. But if only a lot of guitarist who uses POD HD500X will say that using combo with all modelling power of HD500X doesn't make sense, then I'm ready to find a good place for monitors at my place :) --- So the first questions first please: combo amp or active monitors? :) Thanks in advance!
