  2. Does the AMPLIFi replace the DT series as the "amp of choice" for the Dream Rig?
  3. Hello all, I took a little bit of time tonight to record a few clips with my Amplifi 150. These are all done with a single mic - a Sennheiser E609. I was interested to see how it would work out. Some of the high end sparkle is lost, for sure, but that's not necessarily what you want in miced amp sound, especially live. After doing this little experiment, I'm pretty certain that people could make a single mic setup work in a gig situation if they needed. Also, regarding the volume, the 150 has the ability to get pretty freaking loud. Certainly louder than I would need for a gig. I'm not saying it will work for every band out there, but if it's not loud enough for you, you may need to get your ears checked. :) I didn't really try to do any real tone matching with these clips. I just dialed in sounds I liked. One thing I'm impressed with in the Amplifi is the quality of the delays. I was never in love with the delays in the XT and X3 series. They were OK if you just used them in a static way. But they never did self-oscillation in a natural way. They just got all glitchy. They weren't like the DL4 (and M13 and HD500) in that way. The delays on the Amplifi have been improved from the X3. The other thing I love is that the Amplifi allows multiple instances of the same effect. That's very helpful. I always like having cascading delays for doing Edge-like tones. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Boogie.mp3 Pretty Bad.mp3 Spanky Deluxe.mp3 Swirly Twin.mp3
  4. I'm having trouble with my delay getting out of sync. Last week when I was playing live I noticed that the tap tempo on my FBV Express was slightly slow in its response between my tap and the amp. Later I sat down with the iPad and tried to tap the tempo directly on the delay pedal interface and found that the timing was all over the place. I was playing a song that was 75 bpm but even though I was tapping on each down beat the tempo on the pedal would constantly change - I got 72.4, 73.2, 73.7, etc. the closest I got was 74.6 bpm which is pretty good but later in the song I was off enough to notice. I cannot see that there is a way to just dial in the bpm so I guess I'm limited to tapping the tempo, then trying to readjust midsong. Is this the nature of delay in general? If it is, the response time between the tap and the effect should be tighter. It seems that with digital tech we should be able to nail this. So I guess there are really two questions here: 1. Is anyone else experiencing sluggish response through the FBV? This is happening to me even when switching banks and tuning. AND 2. How do I get the right tempo on my delay? Any advice is appreciated!
  5. Hi, Jus got my Amplifi 75 out of the box and the app going. Is there anyway to use your saved offline Spotify playlists and make them appear in the amplifi music library? Any advice appreciated :-) Cheers, Per
  6. Hello, I read that you can change the speed of a backing track with the app, but can you also change the key? (bring the audio up and down 1,2,3 half steps) like you can do with the line 6 looper pedal? Thanks Luis
  7. I cannot decide which unit to purchase. I have no intention of gigging, both units sound fantastic but it will be for home use only. Any advice from people who have either of these units would be a help. Thx
  8. Dear Line 6, I'm an avid amp modeler that's been eyeing the amplifi series amplifiers since it was announced. I own many line 6 products ( POD (kidney bean), POD Xt Live, Pod Farm(2), Guitar Port, Line 6 Spider IV 150 , FVB Shortboard MK II, Delay). Here is where your marketing and engineering departments have failed. 1. Explanation of the FVB Shortboard MK II integration. Like, Ya....... It's supported.. but in what capacity? 2. How many preset's can be stored on the amp? Maybe 4? 5? 6? 3. Can I control on/off different stomp boxes / delay / modulation etc with my FBV Short board? 4. Why did you "NOT" include a USB Port to charge the devices required to operate the amp? (ipad / iphone / android ) 5. Why do retail outlets much like "Guitar Center" not have a AMPLIFi demo station available with an included USB port to jack in my device and "demo" the amps features as marketed? (this is a no brainer and selling feature) 6. You should include a "transfer" type of feature for old line 6 users (pod XT / pod farm / guitar port and general line 6 products). You are confusing and disenfranchising users . We love our presets and want to keep them across platforms. WE work hard to tweak and tune everything to our taste. With every product release you slap us in the face having to create new presets and force us into "another adventure" of finding tones.) 7. This does not apply to me but why not include the line 6 link and variax inputs featured on many other products. 8. The unit features a USB port. (why not hint or discuss with your users what it should be used for?) Direct Output? Windows/Mac integration for preset config / Firmware updates direct without a FBV?. 9. Lack of a full manual "POST" product release. You need to fire your documentation team immediately, I can't think of an excuse to use on this one. 10. Say iOS goes away and apple decides to pull the Line 6 AMPLIFi app from the appstore. What are your customers to do? We are screwed beyond using this as a bluetooth speaker. (a good one at that, i digress) 11. Line 6 monkey (drivers) and firmware updates to other products (bearing you own a MK II or FBV) Are smooth and work as advertised. This department is working great, however the design engineers are behind the ball. Modelers should always include a USB port in order to allow for updates and pushes without an additional piece of hardware. 12. WE love the amp, we however hate searching for the name on search engines.... it should have been called line 6 amplify or amp li wifi or something else besides amplifi. When we search for amplifi we find other amplifi"ers" beyond line 6. Youtube, google, bing etc. This was a dumb move. One major thing I have found with line 6 is the lack of after the sale support. Got a line 6 spider iv??? Want to update the firmware...well you need a FBV for that. It's complete failure for an electronically capable modeler to have to use an added $200 dollar device to upgrade and "fix" issues that were released from the factory. You can do better and your users know it also. For most people who own or use line 6 products we are forced to defend using them in live situations due to the lack of "tube quality" on most modelers. This is due to the lack of life and feel that translates from a traditional tube amp to a modeler. The Axe FX product family has done a much better job in this genre. I don't expect a $500 dollar product to compare to a $2500 dollar product. I do however hold line 6 to their mission statement. Push Boundaries, Make a great product and release a great product with a huge community and support the product for years to come.
  9. It would be great if AudioBus support was added to the amplifi ios app. This would allow the ability to play along with ios synths or ios recording apps streaming to the amp while having the ability to also make tone changes on the amp. Right now i can play along to an ios synth, but i can't do tone changes. The way to think about this is that rather than playing along to a song playing back in the amplifi app, you could play along to a live audio stream coming from another running ios music app that is AudioBus compatible (most are). You can do this now if you just run the other ios app, but then you have no ability to do tone changes, which you need to be in the amplify app to do. I think this would be a fairly trivial programing addition to add to the amplifi app since it already had the ability to stream audio and tone changes, and would greatly improve it's utility for more serious musicians using ios. When the usb port works, if you could stream in audio from the amp into AudioBus to an audiobus compatible recording app, that would be even better.
  10. We need you to get a real manual on line. I had issues with bluetooth this morning and I had rto figure out on my own to hold it down for a bit. I went through forgetting, and all the other rigamarole, but nothing in the "Pilot Handbook". It only lists iOS for pairing so even that info is incomplete. I have been very patient, but it's starting to get ridiculous. I'm going to call again this morning to register my annoyance with the lack of information on how to use the dang thing...
  11. So I went to the music store today and tried out the new AMPLIFi 75 watt amp. And here is a video to show you my first impressions. Tell me your thoughts. Sorry it wasn't longer and more in depth. Filmed and edited it all on my iPhone.
  12. I made a quick video showing the iPhone app for this new amp. Check it out here.
  13. Where is the demo of this amp? I know it's brand new, but I couldn't even find it on the Line 6 products page. Look under the Amps section (http://line6.com/products/# and http://line6.com/products/#category-amps): DT Series? Check; Spider Series? Check; Spidervalve MkII? Check; Amplifi? Ampifi??? Um...no. It's simply not there. But if you go to Products/Amps, you can find it. Looks like it's on the homepage as well. Good for me...or so I thought. The demo video which I was quite anxious to see and hear, will not play. Every time I hit the play button, I get an "error #2035" message. Next, I went to Youtube. After a protracted search, I finally found a small snippet of "demoing" on a NAMM video. Not enough to really give you a good snapshot of just what this amp sounds like and its capabilities. All told about 20 secs of a couple of guys jamming and that was it. After that I tried a Google search using the words "Line 6 Amplifi Demo," which yielded precisely nothing in terms of a demo of the amp. I'm like WTH? Where in God's name is it? You'd think if this new line is so great, there'd be demos out the wazzu of this thing prior to rolling it out. I want to hear the damn thing. Where are the cool demos of Line 6 legends, Joost Vergoosen and Sean Halley showing us what these amps can do? I'm amazed at the apparent gaping marketing hole left by Line 6 in its own product launch. If it's as amazing as Line 6 is telling me it is, then why can't I hear it? Geez c'mon guys; help me out here. I can't be the only one who's feeling the angst on this. The price is right; I just want to hear the amp....period. Please help a bruthuh out. This should be easy, right? Thanks.
  14. So I've got a POD HD500 and I'm pretty dense about using it. Haven't really put the time into it I should, to reap the potential. I digress. In addition to my relative ineptness using gear, I've got a terrible ear. But I'd really like to set up a few patches that ape/steal the tone of a few, certain, probably obscure, players out there (including a bass tone). I was able to find information on their gear/rigs online, but translating them to what's available in the POD is where I get lost. That said, my question is could you use the AMPLIFi app to pre-build the tone, then recreate it in the POD software/on the unit itself? Kinda take my guesswork out of it? I know the AMPLIFi probably has considerably more amp options than the POD, but is this feasible? This is working under the assumption that you could use the free app for research without having to pair it to the amp itself. Thanks! I appreciate you lending me some of your know-how! --gsorkin
