Hello, I have a couple of problems with a brand new hx stomp. 2.71 firmware with an active/passive bass. I have two problems : 1. Headphone output is generally too low, even with the volume at max. I'm using 32ohm phone, there is optimization for another impedance? 2. The bass sound is distorted even if I have an empty chain or analog bypass!! There is a lot of distortion in mid and low frequencies content even with passive or active basses (connected to the main L input). Can you help me? Best regards, Bye

Hey Guys! I had several requests to break down the Bass Tone used in my recent Line 6 Helix Tone video, "Rectifire Rock." So here it is. I used the Line 6 SV Beast Brt amp model which is modeled after an Ampeg SVT Bright Channel. I used Ownhammer Impulses, specifically OH 410 AMPG SVT-10 PORT which is obviously an Ampeg SVT 4 x 10. Through a little FabFilter Pro Q and a bit of Waves L1 and we have a bass tone.

I love the simplicity and tone of the Bass PODxt Live, thus I'm still carting it to every bass gig I play at. However, I also have the M9 and happened to plug the bass into it with the Sub Octave Fuzz...it was a life changing moment. All the fuzzes and distortions on the Bass PODxt sound thin because you can't run an effects chain and a clean bass chain simultaneously to maintain the low end lost in the distortion effects. But sweet baby of chaos...that Sub Octave Fuzz is more doom than Conan the Barbarian after a two week bender. Now, to keep with simplicity, is there a way I can upload the Sub Octave Fuzz model into the Bass PODxt Live? Is there an update? A hack, I dare say? I don't want to mess up the signal chain trying to squeeze the M9 before the PODxt Live. Much obliged for your help, RS

Good day! Just thought I'd share my experience... First, bass amp models sound much better after tweaking. Anything to "tighten up" the sound, like the sag and mic distance. Second, two paths sound better than one; flattens up your tone. Third, dialing in a tone as close to live volume through my home pa gets me closest to what it will sound like live through the fronts, but headphones get you close. Usually I am asked to turn down the lows a bit, if anything. I went live for a show with a loud drummer (godsmack tribute) and ONLY a Peavey DM115 (no back line). I managed, but it didn't cut it. Not loud enough, and no subtleties came through. Guitar players seem to have no trouble with the same set up, but most sound guys don't seem to fully understand modelers, and that we are trying to avoid being at their mercy for monitor volume. This is less of an issue in larger clubs with larger PAs and good sound guys. Best sound I get now is backlining with my mark bass tube 800 through a single 4x10. I use the helix in front of it, replacing my tried and true, and hard to beat, ME 50B, for volume, tuner, compressor, effects. Honestly, I haven't figured out how to make it sound as crisp and clean as the me-50b, but it's close. Now here's the thing, I run a completely different rig to the front of house. Usually the Hartke with the 8x10. Lots of compliments, and I can hear over the rest of band. I have not yet found a monitor that is loud enough for me to go without the back line. I'm about to get a QSC power amp and Yamaha 12 inch monitors. I'm hoping that's going to work out. As much as I would like to walk in with just a combo amp, my situation requires serious volume, and I can't only bring one amp and hope it doesn't blow. Lastly, my mark rig with the ME 50B, is very portable, and sounds better than most rigs to my ear. I bring an extra head with me just in case and I actually run two 4 by 10s. But I don't get all the bells and whistles I get with the helix. That's where I'm at! I didn't see anyone else posting about playing bass through the helix to the extent that I'm trying to. Comments and suggestions are welcome!

So, I've been working on putting together some bass tones for a big recording project. I've got a distorted tone I really like (a kind of TesseracT/Periphery distorted upper mids sort of thing), but I can't seem to nail the kind of clean tone I'm going for. I want something very crisp/glassy sounding, basically something like this with reverb optional. Everything I've tried has sounded really thin and lifeless or kind of "honky." Anyone got any pointers?

hello, just received my L3T, plugged in the Helix and played both treble and bass side of my chapman stick into it at moderate volume. As soon as I sustained any mid low content the noisy fan came on. Is this normal? Do these L3T start pumping on the fan as soon as you solicit the bass amp? Does that change if you add a L3S bass cab?

Hi guys! I recently purchased a Line 6 Helix! After months of reading information online and also getting an amazing hands-on demo with a Line 6 representative in a music store close to home here in Melbourne, Australia! This unit cannot be praised enough in my opinion. I love how much color and variety its given my tone on the Dingwall and Its really refreshing seeing all of these regular firmware updates. Look forward to talking to you all over time. Best regards

Hey Guys! I put together another video highlighting a bass tone inside of Helix. It uses the Del Sol 300 amp block which is modeled after the "Sun Coliseum 300," with eh Obsidian 700 which is a model of the Darkglas B7K. The impulse is a ROSEN DIGITAL AUDIO Ampeg SVT. I tried to zoom on all of the important settings. If you have questions, feel free to leave a comment.

I recently got the Helix and I'm trying to match the bass tone I used to get with my old 11rack. There is a clip linked below. Anyone have suggestions for where to start? In the 11 rack I was using an Ampeg model and a Rat but that same setup isn't getting me there with the Helix. https://soundcloud.com/ejendres/burrito-bass-136bmp-audiotrimmercom

So after weeks of waiting for a Darkglass Alpha Omega to be in stock on sweetwater, I FINALLY got my hands on one. Within 30-60 minutes I was able to dial in a really crunchy dirty bass tone that I was pretty happy with. I left my initial impressions in a reddit post on r/bass. My signal chain was bass > Alpha Omega > Helix {noise gate > LA Compressor > Woody Blue > IR } I didn't find out about the Obsidian 7000 until yesterday, and can't believe I didn't notice the naming pun (Darkglass = Obsidian; 7000 = 7k) lol. I've had my Helix Rack unit for about 4 weeks now but due to work and school, haven't been able to sit with it for hours on end. When I wanted to get a preamp/drive bass pedal, the B7k was the other contender based on its universal acclaim and usage by a lot of my favorite bassists. So, for lollipops and giggles I wanted to see if I can get AS GOOD of a tone with all Helix and the Obsidian 7000. ....Yes.....a thousand times yes. I got a BETTER tone (in my opinion). In my initial impressions of the Alpha Omega, I noted how the low-end saturation bothered me. It sounds really loose and flubby to my ears. The switches on the Alpha Omega are binary for their boosts compared to the B7k which has 3 way toggle (On-Off-Cut). The blend control on the Obsidian 7000 is more fine grained compared to the Alpha Omega. I prefer this because even adjusting the blend on the Alpha Omega brings up that dreaded (to me) low-end saturation. I haven't had time to record some A-B comparisons, but I can if anyone would like. All in all, I'm sending back the Alpha Omega because I'm able to get a bass tone I like and have been searching for with the Helix. I lollipop love this thing.

Hi everyone I'm new to both: Helix and the world of IRs (and even the english language - I hope you guys understand me) :) I've been reading for hours now, and as far as I understand the topic, it should be possible to make my acoustic guitar sound (more or less) like a bass guitar. For now I'm using an octaver and lots of EQing, but I think IRs should be a much better way (if they can make electrics sound like acoustics...) And then a kind of "ambient-orchestra-strings" sound would be great as well. And again I'm hoping to achieve that with IRs (at the moment tons of delay, chorus... is doing the job). So at the bottom line I have 2 questions: a.) Can I do that? b.) Where do I find suitable IRs (Bass & Orchestra/Violins...). Free ones would be nice to try, but basically it's not a problem if they cost a view bugs. What I found for myself is 3 SIGMA. Looks very promising. Thanks a lot!!! chris

I want to ask if someone can verify that the following happens on their Helix as it does on mine before I file a bug report. I searched for this before creating this topic, if it's a dupe I'm excusing myself beforehand. I use Firmware 2.21 . I recommend using a DAW or method B to make sure there's no additional noises coming from pickups, cables etc. Symptom: Both the SV Beast Nrm and Brt models exhibit a clicking noise after sound was processed if the "Sag" parameter is set to a value of 0.6 or greater. Steps to reproduce: 1. Create a patch with just an SV Beast Amp in it. Set the "Sag" to a value equal or greater than 0.6, the other controls don't seem to have an influence. Set the input block to something quiet, e.g. USB. Method A: 2. Connect the Helix to a DAW and use a routing with sound only going in and out via USB (Reamping). 3. Monitor the Helix' main output (Channels 1&2), e.g. by arming a track for recording. 4. Play anything for any amount of time, then stop playback. Method B: 2. Set the "Hum" value to anything that produces an audible sound, then move it rapidly to 0. For both methods, there should be a crackling noise following that sounds like static discharge going through a lowpass filter. For "Sag" settings of 0.5 or less, I could not reproduce the symptom. If someone can confirm this, I will file a bug report, otherwise I'll scratch my head. With a confused face.

HELP!!! I have a Variax 700 bass with VDI cable, it does not work with HD500x pod or pod XT live bass. Connecting to the XT Live pod freezes the screen. Until the cable is unplugged, it will restart. With the HD500x pod, I connect a regular RJ45 cable and work for a while but then the HD500X pod restarts. The VDI cable works well with JTV59 variax Can anybody help me?

Short version: How can I improvise a low pass filter out of the EQ on my HD500 so that I can get only the E and A strings, like we get in the polyphonic mode in the Boss OC-3 pedal? Detailed version: I've been trying to emulate the polyphonic mode found on the Boss OC-3 on my HD500. I'm running two parallel effects lines, with a graphic EQ as a low pass filter on one (to get just the E and A strings) and a hi pass on the other (just to give some presence while trying to retain the natural sound as much as possible). My signal chain on the bass side is the EQ and a bass octaver running into a Flip Top amp (which has the bass boosted and mids, treb and presence turned off). While I've gotten 70% there, I've run into some expected problems, mainly with the way the improvised low pass filter is working (it doesn't completely eliminate the other strings), because of which there is a constant compromise between the levels of the two channels, which either results in 1) the unwanted octaved D,G,B and E strings leaking in (if I want a stronger bass sound), which clashes horribly when I play chords, or 2) a softer bass sound with a trebly, unpleasant characteristic (owing to the EQ settings on the second effect line). Any ideas on how to get around this problem? Any insight would be appreciated. The video I've attached demonstrates the sound I'm aiming at (it's time-stamped)

Hi, I play bass and guitar and am looking for an amp that can do both. My question is if it's safe to use a firehawk 1500 as a bass amp without risk of damaging the speakers like you'd have with a "normal" guitar cab. I'm aware that there are no bass amp models built in but that's not a problem. Djeno

Hi there, is there a known solution to plugging G10 transmiter to Ibanez soundgear bass guitars? Tried it with the included adapter but it is too short...

Dear all, I am not new to Line 6 ( used POD X3 many years ago, using a G10 very happily) but new to Helix, currently testing the native during the 15 days trial period. My main instrument is the bass. I have already good experience with Zoom B3 and B3n, have used it for gigs, already. I am trying to find out if HELIX LT could be my next Multi. I am very impressed with the quality of tube bass amps of HELIX. This is really a big step . But I have difficult to find some very clean bass amps or settings, e.g. a MarkBass amp simulation with it s VLE and VLF EQs. Is there anybody who can help me or have any recommendations? best regards, Markus

Greetings fellow Line6 Users! Hoping someone can tell me what the parameters are on the 3 OSC Synth block? I'll start by saying I dont own a Helix, but have been closely following features and functionality since release. I'm a bassist and predominantly play electronic genres for a living - currently using the POD HD500x for all my synth-bass needs (almost exclusively for this purpose, occasionally guitar wah) and I used the M9 and M13 before it - all with great sucess! So my bread and butter is the filter section (Dual Synth-O-Matic signals as my main synth generator followed by a host of filtering - Voice Box, Throbber, Slow Filter, Q Filter etc etc). I'm just wondering what the Helix can offer along these lines, as I can only guess from scouring the manual......I have searched long and hard to find decent audio / video examples of sounds or even the edit screen with little success. Would also like to know which waveforms are available with this effect block if possible! Looking to pull the trigger on a Helix asap, as the routing options would connect all the dots as far as my setup is concerned - but this is the deciding factor for me as it's basically just use it as a synthesiser. I'll finish by saying I live in Dubai so road testing is unfortunately out of the question for me. Any help would be super appreciated!!! Thanks guys, Steve

After about six months of hovering over the "Add to cart" button at guitarguitar.co.uk, I've finally ordered a Helix and should have it tomorrow. I've been entirely software based since moving on from my old Pod XT Live some years ago, but I still have my small family of Variaxes: an original 500, an Acoustic 700, and a 705 bass. The acoustic probably sees the most use these days because as much of a pain as it is to wire up the PSU/DI box with the TRS cable, it's still less hassle than micing up my Larivee when I just want to put down a scratch track. Anyway, I've had a dig through the forums, and I haven't really found a definitive answer on this: To what extent are these guitars compatible with the Helix? To be clear, I'm not overly concerned about controlling the guitars from the Helix - or vice versa - but I'd hope to be able to at least power the guitars via the VDI input and send audio. I'll happily tweak settings manually on the guitars themselves, and I don't intend on getting into any deep editing, so I'm okay not having Workbench. Thanks!

Hi everyone, sorry but I'm quite new to the line 6 family for an "in depth" hands-on product. It seems I can't find a stright answer to this question: Can I pay, download and integrate the HD Bass pack, or any of the extension model on my Pod HD400? It seems that there no extension packs can be loaded into my HD400... is it possible??!! Thanks everyone for helping me to understand!
