  1. Please put any software/firmware/hardware bugs you discover in the Helix here. Hopefully they will be addressed in future updates. If the issue turns out to be user error instead of a bug perhaps someone can offer up the correct procedure. Please include your firmware version when you post your bug. Thanks! This topic is not intended for bad-mouthing the Helix but for providing Line6 with maximum feedback to assist them in fixing issues as early as possible. Please provide as much info as you can on your use case so they can recreate the problem in their "lab". Important: Please submit a support ticket once you establish you have indeed discovered a bug. Line6 has a process in place for bugs and you have a much better chance of them seeing and responding to your issue here: http://line6.com/support/tickets/ Please come back in to this topic and comment that your bug has been fixed once and if Line6 addresses it. Thanks! Submit your bug in whatever manner communicates the issue best but here is a suggested format. Firmware/Editor: Firmware 2.82; HX Edit 2.82 (Make sure to include your firmware and editor version, hopefully the latest, don't want to waste Line6's time with bugs that have already been fixed) OS: Windows 10 (Include your OS if relevant to issue) Global Settings: Bottom row presets, top row pedals [assigns] (Include any global settings you think could pertain to your bug) Bug: When saving preset to another list, pedalboard reverts to Factory 1 list song 1 ("WhoWatt 100") after save. (Short description of bug) (Step by step description of how to reproduce bug) Use Preset knob to select preset from Factory 1 list (I selected 21C "Almost Not Fair") Save "Almost Not Fair" to User 5 list in the first position, 1A. After Save Helix home screen reverts back to the first song in Factory List 1 ("WhoWatt 100").
  2. What Expression Pedal works with Line6 HX Effects? I like to work with effects from 0% till 100% without any isues The Line6 EX-1 ? The Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal doesn’t do the job apparently, goes to 60%, no matter what I do. Never had problems with the classic Line6 Delay Pedal with the same Roland EV-5 Pedal is there a bug in the Line6 HX Effects about the expressionpedal topic? Seems there are more people to suffer with this topic.
  3. Long time listener, first time caller. I picked up the HXFX recently, getting modern after some years with an HD500, and I'm happy with my decision. Today, though, I picked up a cheap M-Audio expression pedal. When I tested it in store, it seemed to be working fine - the polarity was reversed, even when I flicked that little switch on the back, but I can deal with that by flipping the min and max. What I can't deal with is the fact that switching presets renders the expression pedal totally useless! The only way to get it working again is to turn the unit off and on again - not ideal. There were loads of opinions about which expression pedal to get and plenty of it was over my head. Does anybody know why this pedal isn't working? Can anybody recommend a better one that works consistently? I've got gigs! Thanks, team!
  4. Alright so a bit of backstory. I got my hx stomp back in March, everything was fine until it started freezing up on me and when it froze I can’t switch patches. This would’ve been bad because my band has tons of different patches needed to play a set. Wasn’t a problem though because line 6 took care of me, I sent it back pre paid shipping, and they sent me a new one about 2 weeks later. Completely free, and since then it’s been great, no issues, it’s basically my amp and everything. Until today. I’ve been troubleshooting for awhile now and it has to be the hx stomp. Basically my cab just has a ton of static right now and noise. It’s so loud I can’t even hear my guitar over it. It’s never been like that. I tested all different cables, running straight into my power amp and checked everything, but every time I plug back into the hx stomp it gives off the noise. So I tried different guitars, cables, and in every type of configuration but still nothing. I tried changing wall outlets to see if that helped but nope. The only thing I haven’t done is update it to 2.8 but I’ve seen many reports of it breaking the helix so I’m waiting on that. Any help to figure this out is appreciated.
  5. I think I've found the origin of a bug that is making my life miserable for a while with my Helix Floor and HX Edit. Surprisingly it's related to the send/return blocs in general! I uploaded the following 2 presets: Preset 1: Vox15_ECM V2 and Preset 2: Rythm_ECM V3. If you select the Preset 1 and add any bloc on the Vax Mags line except for a send/return bloc, it will work fine. But if you add a send/return bloc, save the preset and then select Preset 2. Then from there, reselect Preset 1: voilà! The preset is empty and there is no sound out of it! To be back to normal again, you need to select any other preset (except a "New Preset" or Preset 2) and then reselect Preset 1and voilà: preset & sound are back to normal! Someone else having this damned bug? Not very handy when you want to switch between these two presets in the middle of a song. Rythm_ECM V3.hlx Vox15_ECM V2.hlx
  6. There seems to be a bug with assigning multiple control parameters to a footswitch. Setup: Assign a footswitch to toggle between 2 settings in a delay block: (A) Low feedback + low mix (B) High feedback + high mix In Global Settings > Preferences, snapshot edits set to "Recall". Problem: Helix gets "confused" about the ON and OFF states of the footswitch. This typically happens when changing snapshots. Description: 1) Select Snapshot 1. Press footswitch > ON. Parameters set correctly to (B), footswitch lights up. 2) Switch to Snapshot 2. Press footswitch > ON as well. No issues so far. 3) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Sometimes this bug occurs: press footswitch again > it goes from ON to OFF, but parameters jump from state (B) > (A) > (B). Parameter states are (B) but footswitch light shows OFF, meaning states are reversed. 4) Switch back to Snapshot 2. Footswitch functions normally, with ON corresponding to state (B). 5) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Footswitch behavior still reversed (ON = state (A)) This setup was working fine before the update. It started after updating to 2.80. I've tried this on a new preset, same problem happens occasionally. But not always. Sometimes restarting the unit fixes it for awhile. Can anyone verify?
  7. I'm using Reason 10 as my DAW, and whenever I load Helix Native, esp if I go to a user preset (a new blank slot or one of my previously made patches) I get auto patch changes even when the sequencer is not moving and no midi is being sent. Any ideas what causes this or how to prevent it? For example, I turn off the delay and reverb at the end of my patch (bypass) to hear the pure tone so I can edit the noise gate, and while I'm tweaking and playing, the reverb turns on for no good reason, and I look up and sure enough, I'm on snapshot 2, when I DIDNT MAKE ANY SNAPSHOTS because it's a BRAND NEW PATCH?! What gives? I'm on OS X 10.12.6 (I know, old, but still meets the requirements, and no I'm not upgrading my OS), and Reason 10.4d4. I'll check Ableton/Logic/PT but even if it *does* work normally in those, I want to use Reason as my VST host and I've never had any problems with any other plugin I've ever used (from Native Instruments, Waves, Roland, Novation, Toontrack, XLN, etc) this Line6 plug is the only thing that has ever shown such weird behavior. Thanks!
  8. Hi all. I'm currently still on firmware 2.81. Had no issues with my helix floor until upgrading firmware a few months back. After the backup and upgrade a whole heap of presets I'd made did not function properly, with 'snapshot unable to be recalled' (or a very similar message) being shown in HX edit. What I found was that reverb or delay blocks seemed to be at fault and I had to go through and change them (delete block and add it back in again) and re-save all the presets so they worked again and could be saved and reconfigured in snapshots. Now I have that all fixed I have recently, in the last 3 weeks, experience my unit starting to cut out, either indefinitely, ie screen still lit, ability to change presets and snapshots etc but no audio coming from the unit, or the unit will stutter, ie I could play a chord and let it ring and the audio being transmitted either to monitors or amp (this happened live at the weekend) cuts in and out in a very random and digital way. There's no manipulation of the sound (warping etc), just like there is a mute switch being flicked on and off intermittently. It feels like this is a processor issue, but I don't really know. Any recommendations? Should I just backup the unit and update to the latest firmware and hope this fixes the problem?
  9. Hello guys, I have a strange problem with Helix Native in Cubase 9.0.40. When I activate the Monitoring on an Audio Channel with Helix Native as Insert Effect, I still get the clean signal together with the processed Helix Native signal. Even if I deactivate all outputs in Helix Native, I still get the clean signal from the Guitar. Direct Monitoring in Cubase is deactivate (obviously as you can also hear the processed sound from Helix Native) and other Plugins (like Guitar Rig) don't have this problem. It seems that the clean sound is always routed inside Helix Native when Cubase Monitoring is activ. This problem appears only with Monitoring. When I play back a recorded track (monitoring function now deactivated as it wouldn't play back the sound), the signal is processed the normal way. Does anybody else have this problem? Thanks for your suggestions. Greetings, Jan
  10. Hi! I've been using the Helix for 3-4 Months now and i really love it. Now i started messing with the whole Snapshot thingy... Basically, what i want to do is: - Switch between 8 presets normally - on one of my presets i want to switch the snapshots i've created - go back to 8 presets again Now, maybe i'm doing something horribly wrong but i can't get those simple 3 things to work properly. What i've done so far: I can switch to 4 snapshots / 4 presets in the global setting, this works perfectly. I can do the normal 8 preset thing. BUT as far as i understand, i should be able to switch between those modes with the "MODE" switch. But everytime i hit the "MODE" switch, ll the scribble strips go black and nothing else happens. If i push the "MODE" switch again, it goes back to 8 presets. I've done a global reset since, but this hasnt changed a thing. I guess there is some setting i am missing and then it should work properly? I would really appreciate if you could do a "step-by-step" explanation for dumb people like me^^ Or just tell me where the setting are that i'm missing... Thanks a lot!
  11. Hi everyone, First time poster. I have read through the topics here on the forum but it seems like the topic has not been covered. Been using the helix floor for a year now. Great piece of gear! It is in my understanding that using snapshot is the way to go to change parameters with a patch without the ''sound gap'' you would get by switching presets. So I've been using snapshots for in-song changes, and presets for song-to-song (which seems to be common). Until now everything worked fine. I updated to 2.82 lately. I have a couple of presets based on the same ''rig''; the only thing that tends to stay the same would be the amp settings. Effects and snapshot changes. Last week I started to experience a ''sound gap'' (like the one you get when you change presets). Strangely, it seems to be related to when 2 presets are the same, within the setlist. I tried to build the preset from scratch instead of copying it, but as soon as I match the amp settings, I get that problem when I go through the snapshots. I don't know if someone encountered a similar problem, or even if I did explained it well, but if anymore encountered a similar issue, or have a fix... Thanks in advance for your help. English is not my primary language but I'll try to give more details if some of you have question Thank you, Cédric
  12. My patch-settings (Amp-Parameters) differ from one unit to another! The unit on the left side is a HD500x, the one on the right side is a HD500 The unit on the right side differes in a missing "Blackface Lux", which is wrongly replaced by a "Blackpanel Pete" and all Amp-parameters seems to be at the default-settings. I have re-flashed the POD500 (noX) but the problem is still the same. It is espacially spooky, because the following preset 01D is the same one as the 01C where only the Phaser is turned on. I will now reflash the unit 2-3 times again. Please help me!
  13. Once I updated my Macbook Pro late 2013 to MacOS Sierra 10.12 the UX2 usb audio interface crashes the computer. Everytime I plug in the ux2 interface, the computer immediately restarts and gives the error message (white text on black background). I have tried both of my Mac's usb slots, tried taking everything off of the interface (monitors etc.) and tried it with and without power cable on my computer. Also, when I try to start my computer while the UX2 is plugged in, the Mac's starting screen has some white error messages and then the computer restarts. Nothing helps. So atm I CAN'T USE THE INTERFACE AT ALL. Pod Farm software doesn't seem to have any problems. Please tell me if you've had these problems or you can help.
  14. I've had the Helix a couple weeks, and have been studiously setting up a single Preset and 8 Snapshots. Since Snapshots are my primary focus due to the large delay in preset switching, I've set the Global Setttings > Footswitches to "Manual Return" instead of auto. This was previously working fine. I could tap the Cancel button to return to Stomp box mode and enable/disable individual effects. Or I could use the Bank Up and Bank Down buttons to navigate around. Today when I boot up I find that I can't get into Stomp Box mode at all. Pressing cancel does nothing. Holding cancel will open Edit mode. Pressing up or down will allow me to choose a bank. I can choose any snapshot... I just can't get into stomp box mode? I'll try re-flashing later, but maybe I've just tweaked something weird. Anyone have ideas? I did muck with Global settings a bit to see what they did, and tried reverting some changes with no luck. ______________________ Coincidentally (or not...) The Bank Up and Down don't work as expected while in Snapshot mode. If I press Bank up, it will move one bank DOWN. Then pressing it again moves up as expected. Likewise, pressing bank down while viewing the snapshots will open up the next bank UP. Pressing it down again then moves back down. For example, I'm on preset 2A. Pressing Bank UP displays Banks 35 and 36. Pressing UP again displays Banks 1 and 2. Pressing Bank DOWN first displays Banks 3 and 4. Pressing DOWN again displays Banks 1 and 2. OCCASIONALLY no numbers will display at all and it will just say BANK on each. Pressing UP or DOWN returns to the expected BANK. Reversing the Bank up and down has no effect. It goes the wrong way the 1st time, then the way it was set the 2nd and 3rd. WTF?
  15. Hi, Does any body experience this same issue? I've updated my Helix Floor from 2.7 to 2.80 and all my vintage delay blocks become a sort of ghost. It disappears from the signal path but they are still sounding in the back. If you try to do something that involves the delay parameters, even changing the tap tempo, it stops. I've already update my firmware to 2.81 and restore this presets from the 2.71 backup and still the same. This is my main delay so i don't wanna to reload every preset manually. So if anybody can help me, i'll be happy.
  16. I'll admit it I was one of the guys screaming for Line 6 to get there finger out and release this update, of course, they didn't take any notice and none of what I said or any of the other excited customers were screaming either, we got slammed and shot down by all the 'protectors of the realm', don't get me wrong here, I really like my helix, ( I don't love it ) As a tool to get great tones for my gigs, I'm a part-timer I do around 2-4 gigs a week in pubs and clubs and can make a few quid to pay for our cars or holidays, its a nice income stream, I'm not a full-time muso I do have a decent 50hr per week day job too. Helix suits me, as for me its good balance between costs and quality, I enjoy using it and thus far has been as reliable as my POD2, XT Live!, HD500X, it was a natural upgrade, I use the Helix direct to my FOH, I don't use and foldback and have no amps on stage, basic... I know my gear well though, I've been doing the above for over 20 years successfully. So this 2.8 update that they have rolled out... mmm, I did upgrade but quickly rolled back as its not ready guys... And I can see many people are using it successfully, maybe they don't use their gear the same as myself for example and so they won't see the bugs the whole upgrade process was incredibly slow, and even stopped halfway through, ( expected but not good ). My experience with the 2.8 release os one of disappointment, the platform runs slower, and yes tell me I'm wrong, but I know my gear and my helix runs slower with 2.8, L6 has managed to break several users Units with this update, maybe pilot with a few errors but many aren't, they appear to follow the instructions (how many pages). We are supposed to be thankful that L6 is giving us this for free according to some folk on here, they still don't get the concept of 'We bought a platform!' how else do we use it, L6 has an obligation to there customers to make sure that the rollouts are as trouble-free as possible, who beta tested this crap? don't tell me the 'L6 Ambassadors'? a few brand loyal consumers.. I honestly think that L6 beta program is to blame, L6 has a lot of users that really know the gear well but don't comment on here or TGP, users that play and use the gear for real every week.. not in a church or bedroom but on a stage or studio for cash... these are the guys and gals that can tell you if there's an issue anywhere with the platform, I'm sure some of the beta testers also do these gigs but I know for fact that some of them do not, So for all of the folks that think L6 is giving us these updates for free, Line6 have sold a platform (operating environment)that they have control of, they don't sell upgrades because consumers wouldn't buy into the platform without updates.. Think Android and you're nearly there.. How about all those that said they'll release it when its ready... They haven't... Those that think its amazing.. MMmm no Those who rolled back... Good on ya Ready for the onslaught of hate.. check
  17. I think the HX Effects 'Snapshot Mode' "Latch" option in Global Settings is not working correctly. EG: When 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Presets keeps you in 'Preset Mode' -GOOD when 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Presets pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -GOOD! when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Latch", changing Snapshots keeps you in 'Snapshot Mode' -GREAT! BUT when 'Snapshot Mode' is set to "Latch" and 'Preset Mode' is set to "Moment", changing Snapshots pushes you into 'Stomp Mode' -ERGH! WRONG. BAD MULTI-EFFECTS BAD! :P This is wrong. 'Snapshot' Mode' set to "Latch", should remain in Snapshot Mode, regardless of what 'Preset Mode' is set to. I want the HX Effects to dive into Stomp Mode after I select a Preset, so I set Preset Mode to Moment. But I want Snapshot Mode to remain visible when I'm using them, which I can't do.
  18. Hi, unfortunately I recognized a display error (reproducable) at my HX Stomp. I see a black square or line instead of the values in the left corner of the device. Any idea why this happens? Best, Bastian
  19. Very sorry for the long post, but I truly feel it's necessary... Some might already know me from The Gear Page and it's been pointed out that maybe I should post this here in order to have a bigger impact, I'd reach more people really invested in making Helix better. Recently a couple of threads about Fuzz and Input Impedance came up, it seems a good time to push this idea forward and greatly improve our experience while playing w/ Helix. I'm a big fuzz fan. When I started getting heavy into dial in my tones, I found this problem... I dialed my Plexi tone, sounded great, then I added a fuzz face model in front of it, again it sounded great, but when I turned it off, the tone of the amp alone was gone, it sounded muffled. After asking around and some research I found that the culprit was the input impedance, more specifically, the auto setting. Input impedance influences tone and feel, it has to do with the interaction of you guitar signal and the first thing it hits on your pedalboard. To make a pedal behave on a modeler like its "real" counterpart, units use analog circuits to mimic the different input impedances you'd find in a regular pedalboard or amp. For example, usually amps have an input impedance of 1M, but if you put a fuzz in front of it, they usually have an input impedance around 10k, and that's what the guitar will see. A lot of people get confused and say that "well, if you bypass the fuzz, the input impedance is the same", but that's not exactly right. We have basically true bypass and buffered bypass, true bypass acts like there's nothing really there, signal goes straight through; buffered bypass makes the signal go through a buffer, and a buffer itself is actually an amp, and in this case the input impedance will be whatever the input bypass of the buffer is. We will ignore the buffered one. A buffer serves the sole purpose of avoiding signal degradation caused by long running cables - and it doesn't come without its own short comings, anyone that has triad a fuzz face after a buffer knows it - but because inside a modeler it doesn't happen, we can think Helix as a kind of paradise where there's no place for Bob Bradshaw, LA Sound Design, Gig Rig, Pete Cornish and a bunch of other companies, whose sole purpose is to make sure your guitar still sounds like your guitar after going through a metric ton of cables and gear. We'll assume everything is true bypass, because, as we don't have to worry about signal loss through cables, that's the best option, no question about it. Back to input impedance. Everything being true bypass, that means it's going straight through, so the input impedance the guitar sees is of whatever is the first block that's actually on! Going back to my example. In this ideal world, what should happen when I bypassed my fuzz? Signal would go straight through and would see the input impedance of the amp! Turn the Fuzz on and it sees the input impedance of the Fuzz Face! Nice!... Except it's not what happens in Helix. The auto setting doesn't search for the first active block, it goes for the first one, being on OR off. That's why it sounds different! When I turn the Fuzz off, Helix isn't changing the input impedance, so the guitar still sees the low input impedance of the Fuzz Face, making the amp sound just muddy, muffled. Tha auto setting as it works right now is doing pretty much nothing useful. Why? Because what it does is fixing the input impedance to whatever effect is first. If you have a compressor first, impedance will be fixed at 1M, as long as you don't change the signal path, specifically the very first effect, impedance won't change. But nobody changes the signal path while playing, so it's not really useful. Takes away the guess work to find the input impedance of the first effect, but by fixing it, makes everything that goes after have the same input impedance, making the models not nearly as accurate as they could be if the input impedance was set properly. Fixes? Two main ones are usually proposed. After a few FW updates since release the input impedance went from a global preset to the input part of every preset, great! It also can be assigned to footswitches?! GREAT! But it only works for very simple cases. It would for just fuzz-amp. I'd assign the input impedance to the footswitch that turned the fuzz on and off and make it change the input impedance from 10k to 1M. Good! But it doesn't work that great when you put just another pedal in. Let's have Fuzz-Tubescreamer-Amp, all three input impedances are different; when playing the amp it would be 1M, turning the Fuzz on would make it 10k, but now if I turn the Tubescreamer the impedance should not change, but if we assign the input impedance change to its footswitch, it will do just that. But then snapshots came and had to be it, right! Not exactly. By itself it works, but it's extremely limiting and you take in consideration the combinations of pedals I could have using the stomp mode. I'd need 4 snapshots to deal with the fuzz-ts-amp case and set the impedance accordingly, that's not really practical - and the stomp mode is still crippled. Isn't there a definitive fix? You guessed, fix the auto setting of the input impedance. If after everything I said you don't believe me, here's what the competition has to say about this: From http://community.avid.com/blogs/avid/archive/2010/04/06/the-truth-about-true-z.aspx (and a great read if you want to understand what input impedance actually does. Spoiler, it's not about bypass) "Typical guitar modeling processors have a fixed input impedance, which can limit the accuracy of the modeling. Eleven Rack's True-Z circuitry is designed to solve this problem by automatically changing the input impedance to closely match the impedance of the first active effect in the Eleven Rack signal chain." From http://www.fractalaudio.com/downloads/manuals/axe-fx-2/Axe-Fx-II-Owners-Manual.pdf "The Axe-Fx II recreates this effect by switching various (real) resistors and a capacitor in and out of the signal path. In Auto mode, the impedance is automatically set based on the first active effect the input "sees." Normally you will want to leave this on AUTO..." Here's the link to the ideascale where I proposed the auto setting fix: https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/862873 Vote up!
  20. The integrated expression on my LT pedal broke down. I already contacted my dealer and my LT is hopefully going to be repaired soon. In the meantime I bought a YAMAHA FC7 expression pedal to do the job. It works fine, I just had to switch the polarity. I have the EXP 2/ EXT AMP control set to EXP 2 in on every preset. But every time i switch a patch Helix forgets the external pedal. I have to go through the global menu and "refresh" the EXP 2/ EXT AMP setting to get it work. This is extremely annoying during a live setup. Could not figure a workaround for this.
  21. After over 10 hours of installing and reinstalling I finally managed to get the USB Driver to install and run. Problem: Workbench installs fine Line 6 Monkey installs and updates fine but reports no USB Driver Windows Device Manager reports corrupted or incompatible driver when usb interface is plugged in The solution: Click Start, Type Core, Select Core Isolation and run, turn off the Memory Integrity then reboot. The driver then miraculously functions fine. Line 6, please pin this somewhere as it was incredibly hard to find a solution and please see if the issue can be addressed.
  22. Using HX Stomp, there are black boxes touching some shortcuts. Also when we are selecting category in the effects list, and we touch the fs1 or fs2 sensor, we got a black box on the screen, and covers a part of the display. Also when you enter in the tuner option and you touch fs1 and fs2 sensors, you got a question 'swap fs1 and fs2' and with any option you select, this pop up stay there mixing with the tuner screen
  23. so I recently got a hx stomp, tried it out, everything was working fine and it was dead silent, then I updated to the new firmware and all of a sudden got this buzz noise (its attachedto this post). it goes away after some time, but comes back. I also tried different power supplies and outlets , its always the same result, does anybody else have this problem, it seems like a software issue, since it was working fine before doing the update. hx stomp buzz.mp3
  24. Twice this week my Helix Rack and Control froze and wouldn't change presets. Once during a rehearsal, and last night during a performance. Only thing that fixed it was powering off and then on. Not sure if it was same preset that froze or not. But I do know that the rack and control both read different presets. Signal was still coming through so I was able to finish song, but why would it be freezing like that? I'm on latest firmware. I have 2 Helix Mission expression pedals plugged in to control. Any Ideas? I'm using all tones I've created and maybe 1 or 2 custom patches from other people, with IR's. I've read about the "rebuild all presets" feature but not sure what that does or if it would fix this particular bug. Thanks
  25. There seems to be an issue with the Firehawk Remote App for iOS (iPhones). I am part of a Facebook group that is trying to share tones using the link that the Firehawk Remote App provides. We can all share tones via link, but it seems only Android devices can actually load the tone. The problem is that iOS devices seem to have an issue loading and go to the 1A preset. Can we have some Line6 assistance here? Thanks!
