  1. There seems to be a bug with assigning multiple control parameters to a footswitch. Setup: Assign a footswitch to toggle between 2 settings in a delay block: (A) Low feedback + low mix (B) High feedback + high mix In Global Settings > Preferences, snapshot edits set to "Recall". Problem: Helix gets "confused" about the ON and OFF states of the footswitch. This typically happens when changing snapshots. Description: 1) Select Snapshot 1. Press footswitch > ON. Parameters set correctly to (B), footswitch lights up. 2) Switch to Snapshot 2. Press footswitch > ON as well. No issues so far. 3) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Sometimes this bug occurs: press footswitch again > it goes from ON to OFF, but parameters jump from state (B) > (A) > (B). Parameter states are (B) but footswitch light shows OFF, meaning states are reversed. 4) Switch back to Snapshot 2. Footswitch functions normally, with ON corresponding to state (B). 5) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Footswitch behavior still reversed (ON = state (A)) This setup was working fine before the update. It started after updating to 2.80. I've tried this on a new preset, same problem happens occasionally. But not always. Sometimes restarting the unit fixes it for awhile. Can anyone verify?
  2. I've owned a Helix rack for about six months, finally decided to pick up a Control. I opened the box, skimmed the manual (I was expecting to be able to just plug it in, but wanted to make sure), plugged in and powered on. All the scribble strips lit up solid white, and "Control needs to be updated" appeared on the Rack's screen. I pushed the 'green OK button' (knob six), and after a few seconds got a "Communication failed" message, which would endlessly loop if I kept hitting OK. I figured out how to power the Control on, into update mode (or at least, that's what the display said), but it didn't make any difference. My Helix was on 2.80, so I downgraded to 2.71 and tried again - no luck. I discovered that the Control's firmware is 1.06.05, so I thought that maybe being so old it would have to hit a 'waypoint' release - so I downgraded the Rack to 2.00. Still no change in behavior. I opened a ticket, but I suspect they're pretty overwhelmed with 2.80 stuff right now. I'm guessing there's no other way to force a Control update, than through the Rack?

    Command Center - Ableton live

Hey guys and especially Helix gurus! :) I have Helix LT and I am thinking about using it to control Ableton live for well, live playing :) the idea is to have couple scenes in Ableton representing different parts of the song and jumping between them using Helix. After messing around with couple approaches, it seems that for what I want to do something like this would work: 1. top four footswithes will be used to send notes to Ableton for Play, scene up, scene down, stop. 2. bottom four foot switches will be my basic stomps within a snapshot, so I can still turn stuff on and off - probably drive, delay, reverb and something. I was able to set it up, but my issue is with command center settings constantly switching the values of the notes to one value particularly, thus making it ineffective for changing the scenes in Ableton. It looks like it is caused by snapshots being in recall mode. In discard mode they stay set correctly, but that defeats the purpose of having stomp boxes in a snapshot, because in discard mode it always goes back to whatever it was saved with and that is not ideal for what I usually do. So I do not understand what I am doing wrong or why when in recall mode the command center settings constantly change when switching the snapshots. Can someone explain that to me? I am not very MIDI knowledgeable and I am also new to Ableton, but if I could make it work this way, it would be great :) thanks for help!
  4. Hi! Would anyone know if it is possibe to control the PowerCab 112 plus speaker models from the Helix Floor via L6 Link? I'd like to assign a powercab speaker model from a Helix preset (with L6 link, not interested in midi cables as I want to have a clean setup) so each preset can have the best sounding speaker model from the cab. I saw some discussions on this topic, but no clear conclusion on it as far as I could find. Thanks for any help! :-) Jordi

    MIDI Control of Mesa TC-50

I'm having a tough time getting my TC-50 head to respond to my Helix LT for amp control via MIDI. This is my first time attempting to use MIDI. I'm connected to the amp via 4cm, with the MIDI connected from the out on the helix to the in on the amp. I'm running the helix in snapshot mode. What I'm specifically trying to achieve is channel changes on the amp, along with standard effect/parameter changes in helix. Example: Footswitch 1: CLEAN on TC-50 with Helix reverb + delay Footswitch 2: LO on TC-50 with Helix overdrive + reverb Amps midi CC numbers/values for channels: CLEAN = CC 20 w/ value 64 - 127 LO = CC 21 w/ value 64 - 127 HI = CC 22 w/ value 64 - 127 Things to note. The amp also responds to midi program changes - I've noticed that if I scroll through the presets menu that my amp changes channels with varying features coming on and off. So for some reason helix is sending program changes when loading a preset. If I could isolate that function to snapshots I would also be happy, as I could use the amp's solo/reverb/fx loop options as well instead of just singular purpose CC messages. Any help much appreciated.
  6. PROBLEM: MIDI assignments can not be stored globally. If we want to set up MIDI assignments for several stomp pedals in order to control some device such as iOS loopers or MIDI controlled effects - this has to be done PER PATCH. So this involves a lot of work if one uses several different presets for different sounds. Also one might want to send MIDI CC messages to say an iOS Looper but experiment with different patches. Or a new one. Currently this cannot be done. MIDI assignments have to be done PER PATCH. SOLUTION: Have a special block - linked to a foot-switch which - when turned on - makes some or all of the foot-switches temporarily become MIDI controllers. This would operate much in the similar fashion to how we currently enter or exit the LOOPER mode in the Helix. In this mode each switch would have dedicated scribble-strip names i could customise. If needed - some switches could still be assigned - say to an effect or a snapshot in order that one can make simple sonic changes without leaving the "MIDI mode". https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/MIDI-CONTROLLER-Block-where-all-footswitches-become-MIDI-pedal/802355-23508#idea-tab-comments
  7. Hi guys, I've got a question for you. Since this is my first post on this forum I'd like to introduce myself: I am Fed, a guitarist, mixing and mastering engineer from the North of England. I am setting up a live rig with my band: a MacBook running Logic Pro X that controls our lighting system, backing tracks, my Fractal Ax8 and my guitarist's Helix LT. I've read the entire manual, done a bit of trial and error and I've managed to setup all the CC/PC and everything works properly until I move the playhead in Logic (both with the mouse or the hotkeys). Each time I move the playhead the Helix goes on tuning mode, the next time it turns off the tuning mode (and go on and on) without any apparent reason. If I save the Logic project, close the project, open it again and I start it from the top without stopping or moving the playhead at all it works fine, but the first time that I move the playhead it start to act crazy again. Are there some settings I need to change? Has someone got this problem and know how to solve it? What am I doing wrong? I can do a video if it helps you to understand, thank you in advance!

    Helix Native Expression Pedal

Hi all, is it possible to control any of Natives parameters (volume/wah/delay feedback) with an external expression pedal? I've tried all sorts of routing inside Cubase Pro 9 and I can't seem to get the two sides hooked up in the same way I can with Guitar Rig/Amplitube etc. I get the impression I should be able to, but somehow can't. There's a very good chance I've overlooked something obvious though :) Is it supported yet? I'm running the latest update 1.1.0. Thanks, Jon

How do I update my Helix Control?

Hey guys I'm trying to plug my helix control into my helix rack unit but it doesn't seem to want to communicate. Every time I hook up the Control the helix tells me to update the control inorder for it to work; as soon as I press CANCEL or OK my entire unit Freezes. Any thoughts on how I can update my Control Pedal?
  11. I've watched a lot of videos... and this one is really good IMO. {Not my video or claiming it to be I just thought it was interesting and covered a lot of bases with the HELIX} Hope you get something out of it.. covers a lot of functionality of the Helix. Good stuff.

    Controller Freezes

I have the Helix Rack and Control. using FW 2.21 - updated when released and the update procedure correctly followed and rebuild done. All has been good until last night. I pressed on the control to change up to the next bank and nothing happened. then the control froze none of the switches worked. Waited awhile and it unfroze. tried changing a preset which it allowed but the next press on footswitch to change to another preset and it froze again - none of the foot switches responsive! tried reconnecting the cable at both ends, tried a new cable too - no change you can press one switch and then the next press on another switch and it frozen again. Whilst frozen - If i make changes via the rack eg change preset - the control not echoing the changes made. After various testing via powering down and back up - this problem is for all of the settings via control be it changing snapshots, bank, presets, stomp mode etc... and any setting change on the rack not shown on the control. I went into global settings - footswitches page. I noticed if i made a change to any of the settings on the footswitch page the control worked perfectly - but as soon as i leave the global footswitch page and return to the main home screen - the control freezes up again. so that leads me to believe it might be a bug rather than hardware problem. Have tried another cat 5 cable - problem still persists. My next line of thought - Is there a reset method for the rack and control? see if that fixes it. if that doesnt fix it then my questions are: is the problem Hardware or firmware. If firmware bug - what do i do. do i need to wait for this bug to be fixed in the firmware release, eg 2.3, post native release could still be sometime away? If it is hardware error - is it the control or the rack where the problem resides? Very frustrating - been building up patches and ready to go record next week for three weeks... bam it not working properly... suddenly realize how dependent you become on this device - it is the central hub of all the work. here's hoping a reset can fix it. anyone experienced this issue? anyone any thoughts? any one at line 6 any advice how to proceed with this?
  13. Hello Line 6 forum users, I was hoping you could help advise me with a dilemma that I'm having. I want to take advantage of Line 6's promotional deal for a Mission Engineering expression pedal when purchasing a helix rack and control this month so I went to Guitar Center (as I believe they are a licensed Line 6 dealer) yesterday to do so when they informed me that the earliest that a helix rack would be able to be shipped would be on the 27th of February as they didn't have one in store. I'm concerned that while I could get a receipt today, the 20th of February, showing I purchased a helix I wouldn't have the physical unit until perhaps March, when the promotion would have expired, and consequently if the serial number was needed to register the unit (as I assume it is) that I would miss the window of the promotion. Is it possible that there may be a way that even if my unit doesn't arrive during the promotional period that I could still receive a Mission Engineering expression pedal if I had proof of purchase during the promotional period? I have attempted to contact Line 6 through both repeated calls today and yesterday to the 1 (818) 575-3600 phone number they have listed as well as through a Facebook message but have yet to receive a reply. I understand that their customer service isn't listed as being open during the weekends and, while they are shown to be available on Mondays, that today is Presidents' Day in the United States so it's understandable that they may not be at work. Ideally I'd be purchasing the helix rack and control today from Guitar Center in order to take advantage of their Presidents' Day discounts but if possible I'd like to get confirmation on whether I would be able to receive the Mission Engineering expression pedal as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and any help you can offer!

Will there be a Helix control 2.0?

Apologies if this has been addressed. But is there any plan on having a helix 2.0 controller? similar to the FBV line upgrades? Is this even a possibility with the helix rack or does the software limit it to what hardware already exists? I currently have a very integrated midi/loop/rack set up and while experimenting I wish I had more foot switches to utilize similar to the RJM master mind 16/22. I know I could just buy one of those to control midi but I really love how well integrated the Helix control is just wishing it was about 1.5-2 times bigger(1 or 2 more rows). Any chance this is a possibility in the future? Or am I stick with 3rd party options?
  15. A quick setup, I have the Helix Rack and am using it with other devices like the Eventide H9. I know that via midi I can send a PC to the H9 from Helix via the Command Center. My question is if I have an expression pedal connected to the Helix, in my case it would be via the Helix Control, would I be able to use that expression pedal to send a CC via midi to the H9 so that I can adjust (as an example) the delay feedback of a particular H9 preset? Thanks

    Helix Rack Control, worth it?

Hey guys, I'm using the Helix Rack with the Fractal Audio MFC-101 as a midi controller. Would it be worth it to purchase the Helix Control to use instead? I've used and love the MFC but I've seen a number of posts about the ease of editing on the Control. Thoughts? Pros? Cons?

    Helix and Control

Can anyone reccomend a definitive 'best option' for extra expression pedals for the helix? I have the helix pedal version not the rack and have ordered a roland ev-5 for an extra expression pedal but am now worried that theres no toe switch on the ev-5 so wont be able to use switching on it? I also wondered if anyone could shed any light on the possibility of being able to use the Helix Control floorboard for the rack, but with the pedal version?? I use quite a lot of switches for signal paths stuff, like between multiple amps and IR's/cabs so doesn't leave much room for actual effects switching?? Thanks in advance!!
  18. I have a Spider IV 120 and a FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV is connected to my computer via USB and I'm using the Line 6 FBV Control software. I want to assign the built in expression pedal that is typically controlling volume on my Spider or the external expression pedal "PEDAL 2" to whatever it is that controls the "FX3" "Mix" parameter on the Spider. In other words, I want to control the level of the mix parameter on the delay effect via one of those continuous controllers. I see things in the list like "002 - Breath Control" and "080 General Control 8", but which one of those things controls that delay mix parameter, and where do I look that up for the Spider IV 120? See attached screenshot. Thanks in advance for any help you offer!
  19. Hi! I am a brand new DT25 user. After 10 years without any guitar playing I have restarted it (played guter for 25 years). The DT25 is a amazing little box and I was extremly surprised about what Line6 did in the past years. I struggle with the control of the different Amps and their different Volume Level hat makes it pretty difficult to just use a Midi Floorboard to change between Models. I don´t want to use a HD500 because of size, price and complexity even if it is not that complex to hook it up. Maybe it is the "Guys, I have already payed for the Preamp and I don´t need more!" A solution for me is to use the Midi Event Processor Plus from Midi Solutions. Ive got a used one cheap and I can map 32 CC Events to Program Changes. 32 are enough to switch between actual 5 to 10 Amps (Sounds) plus Volume plus some slight tone control changes. For me it is mostly the presence value. Yes it works fine and the little box can be easily programmed if the CC values are available. I check it with DTEdit plus the Midi OX to analyze (send output A to input B) But if I need, or better want to change a CC setting, I have to attach it to the PC and re-programm the CC setting. Ok for home usage. But not if you go to a differnet location for jamming / playing. You have to reconfigure at least bass, presence and volume to match the locations requirements. To save a new volume level to a program change....... Cool would be a controller with PrgChg to CC Change mapping plus 2 or 3 knobs to map these settings to. Okok, you can use a Behringer DAW Controller for example but the key is something small, easy, cheap. Ok, different world but maybe therer is a solution. Maybe Line 6 accept that some users (and I read tons of similar requests, topics in the communities) want to keep it small and sinple. Maybe they come with a small controller without preamp and effects, Different world again :-) So again - I would appreciate your ideas, solutions, products (if this is allowed within a Line6 portal). Cheers, Peter
  20. Hi, I've been a BOSS user for the past 10 years, mastering every aspect Of the GT MultiFX line. I'm in the process of transitioning to The HD500x to expand and experiment with the LINE6 workflow. I bought one already but it won't arrive until next week. I would like to know if it's possible to attach a dual footswitch. According to the manual, I can plug an expression pedal into the "pedal 2" jack, but I don't need another one besides the built-in EXP. In the past, I used to plug a BOSS FS6 via TRS cable to the "CTL1,2/EXP" jack of the GT8, allowing me to freely program parameters to either of the footswitch buttons (labeled CTL 1 and 2 in the system). The GT8 allowed me to assign modes: latching or unlatching –to operate as on/off for effects– or min/max for specific parameter jumps. I believe the POD allows similar functionalities with the top row switches; nevertheless, I would want to use the BOSS FS6 with the HD500X. Has anyone done this?
  21. I use a 10" Android tablet on stage, mounted conveniently on my mic stand. It's loaded with all the band's music (40+ arrangements (and getting bigger), chords and lyrics). This needs just a touch to move from one song page to the next. I also have a Line 6 Spider IV 75 amp which has several different tones in the user banks for different songs. Even though I have set the amp up as efficiently as possible in the set running order, it's a pain (and unprofessional) turning my back to the audience to change the setting - more so when the amp is on the backline and I'm at the front of the stage. I've thought about using one of the FBV boards but I think this would be almost as bad as I'd be always staring down at the floor to change the amp settings. With the release of the new Amplifi TT, which, I gather, has wireless connectivity, I was wondering if, with a suitable app, the Amplifi TT could be mounted on top of, and used in conjunction with the SpiderIV so that I could control the amp tone settings from the tablet. Ideally, I'd want an icon on the song page that I could just touch and which would remotely change the amp to the required tone setting. Can this be done with the Amplifi TT connected to a Spider IV? If not, how could it be done?
  22. Hello everyone! I have this problem: I want to use the effects of my POD HD 500 and the distortion of my Fender Roc Pro 100 Head (with 1/4 footswitch). Whats the best solution to trigger and change the channels (clean, drive, boost, reverb) of my Fender amp through my POD and also activate POD FX? I saw some options, like MIDI RESOLUTION RELAY CONTROLLER or AMP GIZMO. Which is the best option? Someone has experience with this? How do you set up to configure POD + MIDI + AMP HEAD? Thanks a lot! Emi
  23. I recently started recording vocals with my POD, and I want to turn the XLR outputs (connected to my studio monitors) off while I am recording so that I don't get any bleed into the mic. I want the headphone output to remain on so I can monitor with headphones while recording, Is this possible, or can someone recommend some kind of external controller that will allow me to do this? Thanks, Tyler
  24. First, connect the FBV via USB to the computer and use the FBV Control software. In the File>Open menu, select the ‘Gearbox’ preset for the FBV. This will store on the FBV automatically. Close FBV Control. Then, start Gearbox with the FBV still connected to the computer. Go to the Edit>Preferences window, and in the ‘MIDI/Control’ tab, select USB Audio Device for MIDI Input. Hit Apply and then, OK. The FBV will now control certain parameters of the program including Wah/Volume sweep and toggling. If you would like to change the behavior of the switches, you should than exit Gearbox and go back to FBV Control once again to assign MIDI CC Toggle messages that correspond with what they want to control in the program. You can reference the chart for Gearbox MIDI CC messages starting on page 2.14 of the following Gearbox MIDI CC Reference Guide: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593546810e/application/pdf/MIDI%20Continuous%20Controller%20Reference%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20F%20).pdf
  25. Evening all - apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (but I can't find it...) I'd like to be able to control the volume on my POD HD500 with my Variax (JTV69) control knob. I've read that you can do it, but one of the links I've followed make it work. Has anyone a simple step-by-step guide I can follow? Thanks Paul
