  1. My Helix rack unit is up to date with the latest 3.50 update. When the foot controller is plugged in, it says the controller needs to be updated. When I select OK to update, it reads "Starting Helix Control Update..." but it never progresses beyond this point. This happened right before a gig and basically ruined the show for me. What do I need to do to get beyond this point?
  2. I'm building a synth-like patch, with the built-in Helix expression pedal controlling the high-cut (low-pass) frequency of the Low and High Cut block. With the pedal min at 1kHz and max at 11kHz, there's not enough fine control at the low end. If I drop the max range of the pedal, I won't have enough highs with the pedal fully down. If there's an option for a logarithmic sweep like in the Volume block, that will solve the problem. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to do that. Care to help? And yes, I've tried using the Wah blocks, but all of them have a very pronounced resonance peak at the cut-off frequency of which there's no control to cut out. Side problem: Is there a low-pass filter block that goes lower than 1kHz?
  3. Hi all, I've been wracking my brain over this one. I almost have my entire rig set yup the way I need it. I'm just wondering if there is any way to have one EXP functions assigned by SNAPSHOT - here's what I mean: SNAPSHOT1: EXP1 adjusts multiple parameters in multiple blocks - Delay Mix. Reverb Mix, Reverb Decay SNAPSHOT2: EXP1 adjusts overall volume on a volume block and DOES NOT affect the parameters assigned in SNAPSHOT1 Is this possible? Alternatively, I'm open to using a stomp switch to "toggle" the parameters that the EXP controls, regardless of which SNAPSHOT is selected, but this scenario seems more complex and more unlikely to be supported. Any help appreciated. Thanks!
  4. Hello! Can the Helix Control be used to control Native via USB? I am looking to play through Native housed in MainStage for live performance. If not, is this likely to come in future updates? What other product can do what I'm looking for? Thanks everyone!
  5. hello, I would like to control the HX Effects with Reaper (DAW). In fact I would like to create a midi track in my Reaper project (I work with a drum machine in Reaper) and insert tags that automatically trigger the effects of the HX Effect during the song, so that I don't have to use the footswitch when i play guitar. Has anyone done this kind of programming before and could help me? Thanks in advance
  6. Hey guys, I'm still getting used to the transition to using a multi effects unit after being used to pedals for a long time. I know generally to dial in a sound on an unfamiliar pedal you 'start at 12 O'clock and go from there.' My question is when you load an effect, are the control parameters considered "12 O'clock" when the bar graphic is half full, or when the knob is in it's default state. Thank you!!
  7. Hi, All... I am running Helix Rack with Controller and 3 expression pedals.... I also have 2 PowerCab 112+, with the first connected to Helix Vix 6 Link, and the second PowerCab 112+ connected to the first with 6Link as well. I am running 2 separate paths in Helix. Input for Path 1 is Variax (VDI) and Input for Path 2 is Guitar (for my daughter's Ovation) I am trying to have each path output directed to separate PC+. The problem is, when I select PC+ (#1) in output block of Path 1 it changes the Output Path 2 to the same PC+. Am I missing something? Only using MONO effects between Input and Output... 8. I have recently purchased Helix Native in its 1.82 version and upgraded my Helix LT to 2.82. I was hoping to control Helix Native directly from my Helix LT, (switch Helix native presets from footswitches, use EXP pedal....) but i did not find any indication that this feature was existing. Can somebody tell me if this is possible ? or will it be possible soon ?
  9. There seems to be a bug with assigning multiple control parameters to a footswitch. Setup: Assign a footswitch to toggle between 2 settings in a delay block: (A) Low feedback + low mix (B) High feedback + high mix In Global Settings > Preferences, snapshot edits set to "Recall". Problem: Helix gets "confused" about the ON and OFF states of the footswitch. This typically happens when changing snapshots. Description: 1) Select Snapshot 1. Press footswitch > ON. Parameters set correctly to (B), footswitch lights up. 2) Switch to Snapshot 2. Press footswitch > ON as well. No issues so far. 3) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Sometimes this bug occurs: press footswitch again > it goes from ON to OFF, but parameters jump from state (B) > (A) > (B). Parameter states are (B) but footswitch light shows OFF, meaning states are reversed. 4) Switch back to Snapshot 2. Footswitch functions normally, with ON corresponding to state (B). 5) Switch back to Snapshot 1. Footswitch behavior still reversed (ON = state (A)) This setup was working fine before the update. It started after updating to 2.80. I've tried this on a new preset, same problem happens occasionally. But not always. Sometimes restarting the unit fixes it for awhile. Can anyone verify?
  10. I've owned a Helix rack for about six months, finally decided to pick up a Control. I opened the box, skimmed the manual (I was expecting to be able to just plug it in, but wanted to make sure), plugged in and powered on. All the scribble strips lit up solid white, and "Control needs to be updated" appeared on the Rack's screen. I pushed the 'green OK button' (knob six), and after a few seconds got a "Communication failed" message, which would endlessly loop if I kept hitting OK. I figured out how to power the Control on, into update mode (or at least, that's what the display said), but it didn't make any difference. My Helix was on 2.80, so I downgraded to 2.71 and tried again - no luck. I discovered that the Control's firmware is 1.06.05, so I thought that maybe being so old it would have to hit a 'waypoint' release - so I downgraded the Rack to 2.00. Still no change in behavior. I opened a ticket, but I suspect they're pretty overwhelmed with 2.80 stuff right now. I'm guessing there's no other way to force a Control update, than through the Rack?
  11. Hey guys and especially Helix gurus! :) I have Helix LT and I am thinking about using it to control Ableton live for well, live playing :) the idea is to have couple scenes in Ableton representing different parts of the song and jumping between them using Helix. After messing around with couple approaches, it seems that for what I want to do something like this would work: 1. top four footswithes will be used to send notes to Ableton for Play, scene up, scene down, stop. 2. bottom four foot switches will be my basic stomps within a snapshot, so I can still turn stuff on and off - probably drive, delay, reverb and something. I was able to set it up, but my issue is with command center settings constantly switching the values of the notes to one value particularly, thus making it ineffective for changing the scenes in Ableton. It looks like it is caused by snapshots being in recall mode. In discard mode they stay set correctly, but that defeats the purpose of having stomp boxes in a snapshot, because in discard mode it always goes back to whatever it was saved with and that is not ideal for what I usually do. So I do not understand what I am doing wrong or why when in recall mode the command center settings constantly change when switching the snapshots. Can someone explain that to me? I am not very MIDI knowledgeable and I am also new to Ableton, but if I could make it work this way, it would be great :) thanks for help!
  12. Hi! Would anyone know if it is possibe to control the PowerCab 112 plus speaker models from the Helix Floor via L6 Link? I'd like to assign a powercab speaker model from a Helix preset (with L6 link, not interested in midi cables as I want to have a clean setup) so each preset can have the best sounding speaker model from the cab. I saw some discussions on this topic, but no clear conclusion on it as far as I could find. Thanks for any help! :-) Jordi
  13. I'm having a tough time getting my TC-50 head to respond to my Helix LT for amp control via MIDI. This is my first time attempting to use MIDI. I'm connected to the amp via 4cm, with the MIDI connected from the out on the helix to the in on the amp. I'm running the helix in snapshot mode. What I'm specifically trying to achieve is channel changes on the amp, along with standard effect/parameter changes in helix. Example: Footswitch 1: CLEAN on TC-50 with Helix reverb + delay Footswitch 2: LO on TC-50 with Helix overdrive + reverb Amps midi CC numbers/values for channels: CLEAN = CC 20 w/ value 64 - 127 LO = CC 21 w/ value 64 - 127 HI = CC 22 w/ value 64 - 127 Things to note. The amp also responds to midi program changes - I've noticed that if I scroll through the presets menu that my amp changes channels with varying features coming on and off. So for some reason helix is sending program changes when loading a preset. If I could isolate that function to snapshots I would also be happy, as I could use the amp's solo/reverb/fx loop options as well instead of just singular purpose CC messages. Any help much appreciated.
  14. PROBLEM: MIDI assignments can not be stored globally. If we want to set up MIDI assignments for several stomp pedals in order to control some device such as iOS loopers or MIDI controlled effects - this has to be done PER PATCH. So this involves a lot of work if one uses several different presets for different sounds. Also one might want to send MIDI CC messages to say an iOS Looper but experiment with different patches. Or a new one. Currently this cannot be done. MIDI assignments have to be done PER PATCH. SOLUTION: Have a special block - linked to a foot-switch which - when turned on - makes some or all of the foot-switches temporarily become MIDI controllers. This would operate much in the similar fashion to how we currently enter or exit the LOOPER mode in the Helix. In this mode each switch would have dedicated scribble-strip names i could customise. If needed - some switches could still be assigned - say to an effect or a snapshot in order that one can make simple sonic changes without leaving the "MIDI mode". https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/MIDI-CONTROLLER-Block-where-all-footswitches-become-MIDI-pedal/802355-23508#idea-tab-comments
  15. Hi guys, I've got a question for you. Since this is my first post on this forum I'd like to introduce myself: I am Fed, a guitarist, mixing and mastering engineer from the North of England. I am setting up a live rig with my band: a MacBook running Logic Pro X that controls our lighting system, backing tracks, my Fractal Ax8 and my guitarist's Helix LT. I've read the entire manual, done a bit of trial and error and I've managed to setup all the CC/PC and everything works properly until I move the playhead in Logic (both with the mouse or the hotkeys). Each time I move the playhead the Helix goes on tuning mode, the next time it turns off the tuning mode (and go on and on) without any apparent reason. If I save the Logic project, close the project, open it again and I start it from the top without stopping or moving the playhead at all it works fine, but the first time that I move the playhead it start to act crazy again. Are there some settings I need to change? Has someone got this problem and know how to solve it? What am I doing wrong? I can do a video if it helps you to understand, thank you in advance!
  16. Hi all, is it possible to control any of Natives parameters (volume/wah/delay feedback) with an external expression pedal? I've tried all sorts of routing inside Cubase Pro 9 and I can't seem to get the two sides hooked up in the same way I can with Guitar Rig/Amplitube etc. I get the impression I should be able to, but somehow can't. There's a very good chance I've overlooked something obvious though :) Is it supported yet? I'm running the latest update 1.1.0. Thanks, Jon
  17. you can use this emulator on your windows 10 PC, https://www.bluestacks.com/#gref Bluestacks will allow you to install the google play app Firehawk Remote. then click the keyboard once you are in to set up what keys you are using for various actions I used arrows for swipes, save it and have at it.
  18. Hey guys I'm trying to plug my helix control into my helix rack unit but it doesn't seem to want to communicate. Every time I hook up the Control the helix tells me to update the control inorder for it to work; as soon as I press CANCEL or OK my entire unit Freezes. Any thoughts on how I can update my Control Pedal?
  19. I've watched a lot of videos... and this one is really good IMO. {Not my video or claiming it to be I just thought it was interesting and covered a lot of bases with the HELIX} Hope you get something out of it.. covers a lot of functionality of the Helix. Good stuff.
  20. I have the Helix Rack and Control. using FW 2.21 - updated when released and the update procedure correctly followed and rebuild done. All has been good until last night. I pressed on the control to change up to the next bank and nothing happened. then the control froze none of the switches worked. Waited awhile and it unfroze. tried changing a preset which it allowed but the next press on footswitch to change to another preset and it froze again - none of the foot switches responsive! tried reconnecting the cable at both ends, tried a new cable too - no change you can press one switch and then the next press on another switch and it frozen again. Whilst frozen - If i make changes via the rack eg change preset - the control not echoing the changes made. After various testing via powering down and back up - this problem is for all of the settings via control be it changing snapshots, bank, presets, stomp mode etc... and any setting change on the rack not shown on the control. I went into global settings - footswitches page. I noticed if i made a change to any of the settings on the footswitch page the control worked perfectly - but as soon as i leave the global footswitch page and return to the main home screen - the control freezes up again. so that leads me to believe it might be a bug rather than hardware problem. Have tried another cat 5 cable - problem still persists. My next line of thought - Is there a reset method for the rack and control? see if that fixes it. if that doesnt fix it then my questions are: is the problem Hardware or firmware. If firmware bug - what do i do. do i need to wait for this bug to be fixed in the firmware release, eg 2.3, post native release could still be sometime away? If it is hardware error - is it the control or the rack where the problem resides? Very frustrating - been building up patches and ready to go record next week for three weeks... bam it not working properly... suddenly realize how dependent you become on this device - it is the central hub of all the work. here's hoping a reset can fix it. anyone experienced this issue? anyone any thoughts? any one at line 6 any advice how to proceed with this?
  21. Hello Line 6 forum users, I was hoping you could help advise me with a dilemma that I'm having. I want to take advantage of Line 6's promotional deal for a Mission Engineering expression pedal when purchasing a helix rack and control this month so I went to Guitar Center (as I believe they are a licensed Line 6 dealer) yesterday to do so when they informed me that the earliest that a helix rack would be able to be shipped would be on the 27th of February as they didn't have one in store. I'm concerned that while I could get a receipt today, the 20th of February, showing I purchased a helix I wouldn't have the physical unit until perhaps March, when the promotion would have expired, and consequently if the serial number was needed to register the unit (as I assume it is) that I would miss the window of the promotion. Is it possible that there may be a way that even if my unit doesn't arrive during the promotional period that I could still receive a Mission Engineering expression pedal if I had proof of purchase during the promotional period? I have attempted to contact Line 6 through both repeated calls today and yesterday to the 1 (818) 575-3600 phone number they have listed as well as through a Facebook message but have yet to receive a reply. I understand that their customer service isn't listed as being open during the weekends and, while they are shown to be available on Mondays, that today is Presidents' Day in the United States so it's understandable that they may not be at work. Ideally I'd be purchasing the helix rack and control today from Guitar Center in order to take advantage of their Presidents' Day discounts but if possible I'd like to get confirmation on whether I would be able to receive the Mission Engineering expression pedal as well. Thanks for taking the time to read and any help you can offer!
  22. Apologies if this has been addressed. But is there any plan on having a helix 2.0 controller? similar to the FBV line upgrades? Is this even a possibility with the helix rack or does the software limit it to what hardware already exists? I currently have a very integrated midi/loop/rack set up and while experimenting I wish I had more foot switches to utilize similar to the RJM master mind 16/22. I know I could just buy one of those to control midi but I really love how well integrated the Helix control is just wishing it was about 1.5-2 times bigger(1 or 2 more rows). Any chance this is a possibility in the future? Or am I stick with 3rd party options?
  23. A quick setup, I have the Helix Rack and am using it with other devices like the Eventide H9. I know that via midi I can send a PC to the H9 from Helix via the Command Center. My question is if I have an expression pedal connected to the Helix, in my case it would be via the Helix Control, would I be able to use that expression pedal to send a CC via midi to the H9 so that I can adjust (as an example) the delay feedback of a particular H9 preset? Thanks
  24. Hey guys, I'm using the Helix Rack with the Fractal Audio MFC-101 as a midi controller. Would it be worth it to purchase the Helix Control to use instead? I've used and love the MFC but I've seen a number of posts about the ease of editing on the Control. Thoughts? Pros? Cons?
  25. Can anyone reccomend a definitive 'best option' for extra expression pedals for the helix? I have the helix pedal version not the rack and have ordered a roland ev-5 for an extra expression pedal but am now worried that theres no toe switch on the ev-5 so wont be able to use switching on it? I also wondered if anyone could shed any light on the possibility of being able to use the Helix Control floorboard for the rack, but with the pedal version?? I use quite a lot of switches for signal paths stuff, like between multiple amps and IR's/cabs so doesn't leave much room for actual effects switching?? Thanks in advance!!
