  1. Hi, not quite sure where to put this, however, I though it was worth sharing. I am close to finishing a DIY controller for my HX stomp based on an Arduino nano. Building it is easy with some drilling and soldering skills, changing Midi commands (and sequences) according to your preferences is easy. It cant do all the things a morningstar MC6 can do, but it comes with a 4-line Display and 6 switches, so it may look similar. All you need is a Hammond 1590xx enclosure, an Arduino Nano, an LCD display, a midi Jack, a DC power jack, 6 momentary switches, and a few resistors. It's actually so simple, I am thinking of not even making a Circuit board for it. Overall costs will be around 50 €. I would provide the software for free, once it's done. If you would like to donate what it's worth for you, I would be thankful ;-) Here is a picture of two Banks that are already working: What it can do: Button Action: Single Press, Long Press Toggle Values of Blocks via Midi CC ("Toggle Solo Boost" in my example) Activate/Deactivate Blocks via Midi CC Change Presets (via Midi PC) Activate/deactivate the Tuner Change Snapshots Change the Footswitch Mode on the HX Stomp (Snapshot Mode, Preset Scroll mode, Preset mode, Stomp Mode) Downsides: No webinterface - to change midi, you will have to change the arduino code (it's actually easier than it sounds) No Midi in, so it's a one-way-street from the controller to the HX or Helix or whatever device you are using Anybody interested?
  2. Hello guys. Has anyone tried using HX stomp with Singular Sound Midi Maestro? Looks like it's a nice midi controller but can't find any single example of someone using it. It's cheaper than MC6 and more comfortable imo.
  3. Anyone else have problems receiving MIDI messages into the USB input from other MIDI over USB pedals? I'm using a DA Electronics iCtrl-R Mini and with the Helix floor, HX Stomp, and PodGO using USB connections, I get nada. All settings for Trasnmitting/receiving MIDI over USB are correct. Any hints/Thoughts? http://www.daelectronics.com/
  4. Hello, at the moment i use the helix floor in combination with a midicontroller. The Controller gets the powersupply from the variax-input of the helix and sends the midisignal to the midi-in from the helix. Is it possible to send the midi-signal over the variax-input so i dont need the second cable (midi-in). If yes, which pins i have to connect? thanks for your help
  5. I've had this LIne 6 Spider Valve mkii HD100 for about 8 years and I love it. However, I've recently gotten back into playing again and I've been looking for the software to be able to edit the presets in the FBV shortboard mkii I'm using in conjunction with the Spider Valve. I'm having an issue finding the software on the line 6 website to be able to edit these presets from my laptop. I'm not sure if it simply doesn't exist any longer or if I am mistaken and simply can't seem to locate it. I currently have the monkey 3 installer and it looks like everything is up to date, other than the controller. However, when I attempt to update it, it prompts me to the Line 6 website base and tells me there is no software for this device. Any and all info would be useful. Thanks!
  6. Hi, New HX Stomp user here! I'll try to ask this question as clearly as possible.... I know that there is an option to tell the HX Stomp to send a PC command when calling a preset to external midi devices. I was wondering if you could set specific PC commands, depending on WHICH preset you activate? I have a Soleman midi controller (4 footswitches), with many many songs already programmed. Out of 50 songs in our set, maybe 30 need a specific set of presets (combinations of drive pedals, delay/reverb and modulation), and those are already programmed in my Soleman with song sections (verse, chorus, bridge, etc.). The rest of the songs are more "generic" tones, for which I typically use a general set of presets that get me through many songs that "fit" these tones. Now, I would like to create a preset on the HX Stomp for each and every song we play, and have it send a PC message to the Soleman ONLY when I want it to recall the "panel preset" that I already previously programmed. Which would give me greater flexibility and more swtiches to control my other pedals that are midi, but not in the HX Stomp (SA Nemesis, SA Ventris, Whammy 5). Please help. This has been spinnning in my head for days now.....! Ps. My other solution was to do it the other way around, with the Soleman calling presets on the HX Stomp, but it'd mean that I would have to do a lot more programming, and it's not ideal, I think.
  7. Hello on my Helix-Floor, I would like to control the looper using an external switch. Is this possible? If yes, is there any guideline on how to connect and configure the external switch? Much appreciated
  8. Hello, I have had the controller for the helix rack stored away for a year or two it's been kept in great Nic. I went to use yesterday and found it was not functioning. It is connected to helix rack and does not respond to stomp boxes in any way. Also to tunning screen display is blank. The stomps have no text displayed above them, there is light however. I tried restoring factory presets and such but to no avail. Has anyone encountered this problem before. It's frustrating as I have got almost no use out of the controller. Kind Regards Geoff
  9. I really like the form-factor of the Mini Dunlop pedals (DVP4 Volume, Mini 535Q, etc), but the ideal Helix exp. controller has to have a toe switch to maximize functionality, I think. Are there any mini-form expression pedals that have a toe switch? How are you running your mini expression pedals with your HX Stomp, HX Effects, etc.)?
  10. Here are the controls for the FBV III when using it with a Spider Jam. FS1 - Turns on Recording Mode (see the manual for detailed info on recording) FS2 - Boost ON/OFF FS3 - FX1 (Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo) FS4 - FX2 (Delay, Tape Echo, Sweep Echo) FS5: Reverb ON/OFF When using the FBV3 with your Spider Jam, make sure you have the latest flash memory (v1.02) installed for your FBV controller. You'll find the Line 6 Updater located here: http://line6.com/software/ Download and install Line 6 Updater, then connect your controller to your Mac or PC with a standard USB cable. Line 6 Updater will ask you to login, and then run the latest update for the controller.
  11. Hey gang, I usually use my pro hd in my recording rack... but I have a live gig coming up, so I through the pod into my live rig rack, and realized I have no way of switching my user presets without the computer in front of me.. I have a Roland FC-300 midi footcontroller, which I hooked up to the POD HD... but the patches default to the "Best of HD setlist" and even when I load the setlist manually on the unit, the second I hit the 1st pedal on the controller, it switches all the way back to the "Best of HD" setlist patch 1... Anyone have any experience or theories on how to get around this? I literally only need 2 channels to switch between, or be able to controll the effects So I can have 1 standard rythm with distortion, and an another that's the same but boosted, with delay and verb for lead guitar.. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi, I have a JTV-69 that would like to be able to control (change models/programs) with a footswitch similar to the POD HD X with the Variax input. Does Line6 make anything simple, like the M5, that would allow the Variax to plug into it and have program changes with the footswitch? Thanks, Jeremy
  13. Here are the controls for Spider IV amps (75,120,150, HD150) when using the FBV 3 foot controller. FS1: Boost on/off FS2: FX1 (Gain, Auto, Pitch) FS3: FX2 (Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo) FS4: FX3 (Delay, Tape Echo, Sweep Echo) FS5: Reverb on/off Function: turns on looper mode. Tap button: will start and stop the recording, overdubs, playback within looper mode. NOTE: FBV3 will not work as a computer editing interface for Spider IV amps. FBV Express MKII and FBV Shortboard MKII pedals will work for editing. When using the FBV3 with your Spider IV, make sure you have the latest flash memory (v1.02) installed for your FBV controller. You'll find the Line 6 Updater located here: http://line6.com/software/ Download and install Line 6 Updater, then connect your controller to your Mac or PC with a standard USB cable. Line 6 Updater will ask you to login, and then run the latest update for the controller.
  14. Is it possible to plug in a Digitech MC7 midi footswitch into the midi in of the pod hd to control it? For example, I need to change presets quickly on stage and I've had this footswitch laying around. I have searched for hours on the subject and there is very little information regarding it... Thanks for any help.
  15. I have the Helix LT for almost a week now, and I am tweaking parameters a lot. Constantly manually setting the controller to 'snapshot'. I am thinking : my workflow would really benefit when all the controllers of all parameters by default have the value 'snapshot'. Is that possible? The default value now is 'none'. EDIT: hmmm...I read in the manual that each preset can have maximum of 64 controlller assignments. So that can be a problem. Hmm....but perhaps someone knows a trick to fastly assign multiple controllers to the value 'snapshot' ......but I guess not.....the maximum of 64 is a problem.....now, if anyone has some thoughts about it, happy to hear it.
  16. Apologies if this has been addressed. But is there any plan on having a helix 2.0 controller? similar to the FBV line upgrades? Is this even a possibility with the helix rack or does the software limit it to what hardware already exists? I currently have a very integrated midi/loop/rack set up and while experimenting I wish I had more foot switches to utilize similar to the RJM master mind 16/22. I know I could just buy one of those to control midi but I really love how well integrated the Helix control is just wishing it was about 1.5-2 times bigger(1 or 2 more rows). Any chance this is a possibility in the future? Or am I stick with 3rd party options?
  17. Hi folks, I have had the floorboard model for a couple of weeks, just for practising at home and really enjoyed it but I'm finding it awkward to position the floorboard model so it is easy to tweak and see the screen, etc. I think the rack model would suit me better because I can have the rack unit high enough to see and tweak, and have the Helix Control on the floor where it belongs. I'm thinking if I get a nice solid-wood rack it will look like a piece of furniture and the wife won't notice :-) The shop I bought it from has agreed that I can still return my Helix and buy the rack + controller instead. Before I do that I have a few questions for anyone with rack experience, as I have never used or bought one before: 1) Weight - seems like a lot of rack gear is very light, but things like Helix rack and Kemper rack are a lot heavier. Are the front rack screws enough to take that weight, or do I need some extra rails or something inside the rack itself to support the rear of the Helix rack unit? 2) I'm guessing the Helix Controller comes with a really long cable for stage use, I will only need around 3m, is there a recommended type of shorter replacement cable for the Helix Rack + Controller? I think it's just a network cable isn't it? 3) I thought it might be handy if possible to bring some of the Helix rear inputs into a front rack panel, I have seen some pre-cut panels but not sure where or what type of sockets I would need to put into the pre-cut holes. Can anyone point me to some parts to extend USB and audio sockets into a front rack panel? Thanks for the help folks, Charlie

  19. Hey everyone I have the helix rack, and the floor controller I am currently looking for a rack drawer(hopefully shallow/half depth) to store the helix controller in most I've seen are only 15.5"ish wide but the helix is 17" wide. As I'm hoping to go half depth drawer I was wondering what other people were using
  20. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!

  22. I use the software Transcribe! from Seventhstring a lot for practising or transcribe songs. When practicing new songs I often loop certain sections and slow them down and gradually speed them up again. I thought it would be cool if I could control these functions with Helix and found out that i works pretty well. So I thought you might be interested in how to do it. Anyway, here's the article with a video How to use Line 6 Helix as MIDI Controller for Transcribe! http://dshowmusic.com/line-6-helix-as-midi-controller-for-transcribe/ Scroll down to the bottom of the article for the video! Enjoy
  23. I have a Spider IV 120 and a FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV is connected to my computer via USB and I'm using the Line 6 FBV Control software. I want to assign the built in expression pedal that is typically controlling volume on my Spider or the external expression pedal "PEDAL 2" to whatever it is that controls the "FX3" "Mix" parameter on the Spider. In other words, I want to control the level of the mix parameter on the delay effect via one of those continuous controllers. I see things in the list like "002 - Breath Control" and "080 General Control 8", but which one of those things controls that delay mix parameter, and where do I look that up for the Spider IV 120? See attached screenshot. Thanks in advance for any help you offer!

    X-Y Pad

Hello, I don't know if this has been answered already, but can you use an XY pad like Matt Bellamy to control the POD HD500? Has anyone tried it? Could it be done? like this
  25. It would be beneficial for the FX "controller" section in the 500X to add a footswitch parameter to allow the control of the speed function when using the rotary drum and horn (Leslie). So far the programming allows Exp 1, Exp 2, Variax volume, Variax tone or off. I have gotten the pedal to control speed from parameter zero to 100, (using exp 1 or 2 reserved for the pedal) allowing a varying speed for the Leslie effect. To be clear, I am requesting the addition of selecting a footswitch (in addition to the exp 1 and 2, Variax tone or volume or off) to select the drum/horn speed from slow to fast. I have also heard that plugging in an external Expression pedal may do this. As would an on off switch plugged in to the external expression switch on the rear. I do not wish to add another external item, or I would use outboard volume and a Cry Baby pedal to free up the internal exp 1 and 2. Thank you
