  1. Hey guys, This is my first time using my Helix Floor as a DAW and when I attempt to record DI and effected tones my DI volume is almost non-existent as you can see. The super faint blue line is the input on track 2. Track 1 is my effected tone and Track 2 is my DI. As you can see the input for track 2 is input 7 which I know is the DI signal. I have all channel outputs to stereo out but have tried using every other output. I've tried everything I think.... I've tried boosting output volume in the global setting, I've tried adding a clean boost in my chain (not DI anyway), I've tried adjust the track volume in Logic but nothing is working for me. Any advice? As an FYI the volume knob on my HELIX unit does not work and I am speaking to the support team about this currently but I don't believe this should affect the track input volume anyway. I may be wrong.
  2. I'm not sure the best way to explain this so I'll do my best. I'm using the Helix Floor to control Logic Pro X. Mostly using Hotkeys but sometimes I send MIDI notes from it as well. Most of the time, it works perfectly. However, every now and then, the message I'm sending from the Helix to Logic will stick, as if it were set to "latching" instead of "momentary". So, for example, if I sent a message to Logic to start playback, it glitches out and starts playing the first .01 seconds of the song continuously until I go in change the message it's sending (which is the only way I've figured out how to stop it after it starts). Has anyone else encountered this problem or maybe have any advice on how to prevent this altogether? I'm primarily using this in a live setting which makes this situation very nerve-wracking. Thanks so much!
  3. Background Apple has recently pivoted away from using Intel-based CPUs with its computers, instead favoring the Apple Silicon processor, also known as the M1 Chip. Both Intel and Apple Silicon systems run on macOS 11.0 Big Sur. As it stands, some Line 6 products are not fully supported on computers using Apple Silicon processors, so we cannot offer technical support for those products installed on M1 systems at this time. We highly encourage you to check with the manufacturers' websites of your music system’s hardware and software for M1 compatibility. Workaround on M1 Systems NOTE: Any workarounds offered are not official solutions. Issues experienced with workarounds offered cannot be addressed until official support is offered. Starting with Big Sur macOS 11, Apple introduced Rosetta v2, which allows applications to run in an emulated mode. Rosetta runs automatically with our software that is NOT a plugin. To use Rosetta with our plugins, locate your DAW in the Applications folder. Use command ⌘+I and check the “Open in Rosetta” box. You may have to rescan your plugins afterwards. 4. Hello everyone, I am using Adobe Audition as my DAW (I have a creative cloud subscription so I'd like to get my money's worth if possible) and can't locate the "USB 7" dry signal the Helix is supposed to output. I have watched the Helix videos and read the posts regarding what to do in the global settings but that doesn't help since the actual "USB 7" input is not showing up in Audition. I can do Stereo > [01S] Digital Audio Interface (Line 6 Helix) 1 or Mono > [01(or2)] Digital Audio Interface (Line 6 Helix) 1 (or 2) for my inputs. Neither of the mono channels produces the dry signal. Am I missing something or is Audition just not capable of receiving all 8 of the usb signals from Helix? Many thanks, Brian **** EDIT **** I realized I wasn't using the ASIO Driver and now I got it to work.
  5. I'm getting no sound in reaper for monitoring or playing back a recorded track, even though the meter is displaying normal input and it shows audio is being recorded. If I switch from the line 6 specified asio driver back to waveout or microsoft sound mapper everything works but there is way more latency. Anyone know whats going on or having the same problem? I went into asio configuration and changed the playback from the pod go to the system speakers but that didn't fix the issue.
  6. No more. Just no more. I f*cking tired of this. Brand New laptop with win 10= blue screen of death. I tried literally everything, Just everything. And it goes to bsod again and again. Really? When i bought it i thought it's a dream machine. Now i see, that it is a piece of garbage. Dear line 6 support, i hope when you die, and you want to go to the heaven, you ll see bsod every f*cking time, when you try to do so. And i hope your company will vanish into dust for such sh*tty customer service. I'll switch to another interface, because i want to make music, not lollipop with settings, drivers, and all sh*t! Best community, f*cked corporation.
  7. Well I decided to updated my 13 years old laptop and upgrade to a Macbook. Seems like the recent updates on the page have no effect on scanning my device. Honestly my device was working well in my DAW application before I decided to download the license manager and pro x edit. Now no device shows up. Anyone else still use this rack unit and have or have had the same problem? I did uninstall and re-install but nothing seems to work..
  8. Hi, I have question. I have audio interface (lexicon alpha studio) and pair of Yamaha HS50 Monitors. Is it possible to set Line 6 Pod Go to record DI Signal (unprocessed/clean) and in that same time monitor selected output from POD GO in DAW on monitors? Let's say - I have project on Reaper DAW with drums, bass etc already recorded. But i dont want to record processed guitar sound (so i can mix it later with 3rd party plugins or reamp through POD GO). So what i want, is to have live monitoring of my preset/chain from POD GO (but signal to be recorded in clean DI). Is that possible?
  9. Hello Line 6ers, I’m teaching a man called Graham and he owns a Line 6 unit. I followed the instructions in this post and managed to create a dual path preset in Helix. I selected the Input block on one path and set it to guitar, did the same for the mic, etc. I successfully setup a DAW called Cakewalk on Windows and made a template with 3 tracks: 1 gtr left channel, 1 gtr right channel, 1 mic track. Graham is happy with this but he wants to know if its possible for him to use a preset (or at least some effects) so he can get the guitar effects coming through on the gtr channels while he sings. Is this possible? If we can't use effects-laden presets, can we copy the effects from existing presets and add them in? I noticed that a lot of presets use ‘two paths’ for all of their effects. Does this mean that we will be limited in our range of effects (and routing options) given that one our ‘paths’ is being taken up by the mic input? If the guitars have to be recorded dry with no effects (or only some of the desired effects), what’s the easiest way of re-amping or getting the recorded audio to run through a plugin or the Line 6 unit itself? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hey guys, I am now experimenting with recently launched Universal Audio's DAW called "LUNA". Apparently, LUNA doesn't not recognise Helix Native as plugin or audio units. Does anyone have tried anything or know if there is any sort of compatibility ? Regards Andre
  11. The two common usage issues seen with Helix Native are: After a full Helix Native license is authorized, Helix Native is in Trial Mode when opened within a DAW. Helix Native is crashing when attempting to open on an audio track within a DAW. What has helped many users in either situation is the following: Disable WiFi Launch your DAW Insert Helix Native on a track. The login page should pop up. Turn on WiFi. When you sign in, Native gets reauthorized. CPU usage: Another common issue that may be noticed on some systems, is Helix Native's CPU usage reading higher percentage than what would be expected. Helix Native is a CPU intensive plug-in, some of our systems show readings between 27-30%, the actual usage meter will vary from system to system. Increasing the H/W playback buffer size, in your DAWs settings that can reduce CPU to a degree.
  12. I have been using my Helix Floor as an audio interface for Cubase. It generally works great. The Cubase stereo tracks come into the Hx via USB 1/2 and I use the XLR outs to feed my active studio monitor. I can send the guitar output of my Presets to USB 5/6 and the Mic input to USB 3/4. It even lets me reamp by sending a dry guitar part back into the Hx via USB 7. So far, so good. Yesterday my PowerCab 212+ showed up. I'm feeding the PowerCab via the L6 Link using an ordinary XLR cable. Sounds great - I LOVE this amp. But all is not good in paradise: The Cubase tracks coming into the Hx are feeding my active monitors via the XLRs as usual, and now also playing (very loudly) on the PowerCab via the L6 Link. Cubase is just sending tracks via ASIO Helix and USB 1/2. It doesn't see hardware past that, so I can't "switch off" the PowerCab from the DAW Does anyone have advice on how to change the routing so that the PowerCab doesn't see the DAW? Or maybe know how to configure the L6 Link port? Thanks mucho in advance, Mike
  13. Hi all, I've been having issues forever trying to control Cubase via Helix through USB midi while still being able to receive PC/CC information for automatic preset/snapshot recall. I had given up and switched to the new hotkeys feature which seemed to work fine at first but now I'm having an issue again: on random occasion, starting playback in Cubase by pressing the footswitch assign to spacebar will induce a change in this footswitch's hotkey assignment and bring it back to "none" which then prevents me from stopping the playback. When I scroll to my previous/next preset and come back to my main one, everything is as should be and it might work fine for a couple songs, but then, it will happen again, from a different preset, or the same one, it is very intermittent. Has anyone experienced this instability? If so, have you come up with a solution around it? I really would like to get rid of my second midi foot controller and use Helix instead but so far, neither MIDI nor hotkeys have proven reliable enough for live use. a bummer.. Thanks for your help.
  14. I'm writing a song that uses a square or saw tooth tremelo effect synced to the beat with a 100% intensity for the primary rhythm element. I've found that though you can sync the tempo to the track, you can't control the start of the tremelo cycle with the DAW to sync it up with other elements. This means that each time you start the track, the phase of the cycle may not be what you expect. That makes it very difficult to sync up properly... For example, I've set up a sine wave generator, then an instance of Helix Native with a single Modulation > Mono > Tremelo: I've then set up my DAW to enable the effect at a particular spot in the "song" so that the effect would theoretically start the cycle the same each time. Then, I rendered the same section of song 3 times and added them to the project. As you can see, the first bar is the solid block sine wave, and then the tremelo effect is kicked on. You'll notice that the phase of each cycle is quite different, even though they all are turned on at the exact same time. (Three may have been me accidentally leaving one unmuted before the next render) Next, I attempted to bypass the Helix plugin entirely, rather than just the tremelo effect block. The same behavior is exhibited. The start time of the cycle is entirely unpredictable, and appears to simply be running non-stop after you load the plugin into memory or something. As suspected, this is true for other Modulation effects as well. Here's the same test using a whole not with the Script Mod Phase effect: Helix Native needs to honor the Host Sync's start event (assuming that actually exists) to reset it's LFO for Modulation effects. Otherwise, results are unpredictable and potentially unusable during rendering. :( I haven't tested the Helix Floor pedal to see if the bypass/enable of a trem effect resets the LFO, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had the same basic problem...
  15. Hey guys :) I recently noticed that I´ve got different volume levels of the D.I. signal going through USB channel 5 straight into my DAW. My guitar goes mono straight into the input of the HX Stomp. The device is connected to my PC in order to function as the interface. While recording I´m trying to track the main signal as well as the D.I. signal simultaneously for potential re-amping later. According to the users manual USB input 5 and 6 pick up the D.I-signal right behind the input jack so I can´t figure out why there is a volume difference of ~20dB between different patches when the same guitar is connected straight into the HX with the same cable. Is there any global or local setting in the HX Stomp affecting the volume on USB channel 5/6? You´ll find two different patches the problem occurs in attached to this post. I´m happy about any help I can get :) Best regards, Leopold RecRedFeathMain.hlx Synth Blink.hlx
  16. I have a 2018 Macbook Pro and up until about 2 weeks ago, the DAW I use and HX edit doesn't recognize my HX Stomp. Is this likely because of a problem with Catalina? If so, when will it be fixed? Anyone else experiencing this problem?
  17. Hey all, first post so I hope I'm doing this right. I've recently joined the cult of Linux, and am looking to make primarily electronic music through Ubuntu 18.04. I know that some more common audio interfaces have plug-and-play compatibility, but I'm interested in connecting my Helix directly to my DAW (Ardour) via its USB cable. At the time of posting this I haven't actually started messing with configuring this on my own, but figured I should crowdsource experiences others may have had: has anyone had any experience/luck getting the Helix to work with any Linux distro in this way? I tried looking in the Knowledge Base but didn't find any relevant information for this situation.
  18. Hi there, I have benn using my Helix LT for a year or two now and one of the feature I use the most is midi remote control from Cubase 10. We play to a clic and follow a Cubase project and all my preset and snapshot changes are triggered from a midi track in cubase assigned to helix through midi over USB. What I would like to do now is to get rid of the FBV shortboard MKII that I use to start, stop and navigate through Cubase markers and use Helix to do that instead. The problem I run into is that whenever I go to a certain marker using Helix as my midi remote, Cubase then sends back a midi program change command to Helix in order to go to the appropriate preset. When this happens, Helix then transmit back a midi command to Cubase telling it where it's at and releasing the footswitch now that I'm in a new preset also sends a midi command back to Cubase... this gives some weird behaviors like midi feedback and dual commands (press once but feels like I pressed twice) and most of the time all will fail. Is there a way to seperate the midi channel from the DAW remote from the midi channel from the preset/snapshot control? Thank you!
  19. I just got an HX Stomp, and I want to take advantage of using the Helix Native live through using my Stomp as an audio interface. Has anybody tried the minimum specs the Helix Native can run? Has anyone tried using those small PC sticks, NUC PCs for DAW, vst, and live use especially Helix Native? How was the experience? Or should I just stick with a laptop, say a 2012 Macbook Pro which can be bought refurbished for $200?
  20. Hey guys! I'm a MacOS user and I've been happily recording and practicing through my Helix using GarageBand. My band is about to record a song and we decided to experiment a bit recording techniques and use my Helix to lay all guitar tracks. To better prepare I wanted to try re-amping. This can't be done in GB as I can't route track output to Helix's USB inputs. I installed Reaper to try it. It sees my Helix as an audio device, is set to record it but it doesn't. When I play on an armed track, no signal shows up on the volume meter. Same thing in Cubase 8 LE. I can open Repaer and get no recording singal, then Cubase and get nothing. When I open GB everything works as expected. Could you help me troubleshoot this thing please? I can provide screenshots of config screens if necessary. I think that the DAWs are pretty much the same interface-wise across OSes ;) PS. If that's important I'm on a mid-2015 MBP with Mojave 10.14.3.
  21. Hello folks, I hope you can help. I've just swapped my ageing Scarlett 18i8 1st Gen for a 2nd gen one. The old Mix Control is now Focusrite Control and very different. For some reason my Helix volume knob now controls the volume of everything (PC, DAW, Guitar) and so does the Scarlett. This is a pain because when I'm recording into my DAW and I want to up the guitar level with the Helix volume knob it alters the DAW volume too. I'm using Reaper. Helix used to only control my guitar volume. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  22. This is my elaboration on Round Trip Latency of Helix hardware used as audio interface based on research on closed fb group https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10156514192780269&set=pcb.1077888115728194&type=3&theater&ifg=1 This topic is hardly relevant if you are monitoring direct. Helix hardware latency is 1,8ms from AD/DSP/DA (measured for one DSP Path), no matter what buffer or sampling frequency you pick. If you use another interface for monitoring/recording it is not relevant neither. It is 2,70 firmware time. OSX - you have a choice of two drivers: 1. Multi sampling rate Core Audio driver. You get the lowest latency of 15ms using 32 samples buffer but this seems not to be stable (tested on 8th gen i7) . Safer buffers of 64, 128 samples are at 20ms range. 2. Class Compliant 48kHz driver at 64 samples buffer gives 8ms RTL. EDIT: I do not know if 8ms RTL is REPORTED by the driver or it can be REAL RTL. Windows - you have a choice of two drivers: 1. Supplied ASIO driver. Here are my figures for Round Trip Latencies: 21ms on "Small" 128 samples buffer@48kHz 17ms on "Extra Small" 64 samples buffer@48kHz 15ms on "Small" 128 samples buffer@96kHz 10ms on "Extra Small" 64 samples buffer@96kHz - but this setting is unusable because of artifacts. Bad news for virtual instruments players are 3/4 of RTL is on the output side. 2. ASIO4ALL driver - it is rather overlay for WDM driver, not compatible with Pro Tools. Round Trip Latencies are: 5ms at 128 samples buffer@48kHz 3ms at 64 samples buffer@48kHz 3ms at 128 samples buffer@96kHz Good news or virtual instruments players are buffers are 50/50 input/output. EDIT: I have proven that they are in fact REPORTED RTLs. They are fake numbers! I made my Windows tests using using Reaper (64bit), desktop Windows 10 PC with 3th gen i5 CPU, 16GB RAM. Reaper session was loaded with 5 Hx Native instances. CPU usage was monitored with Windows Task Manager and for the same 128 buffers on both drivers was at 30%. 7ms pictured vs mine 5ms is because I switched off additional 32 samples buffers used for latency compensation in ASIO4ALL (for aggregating devices?) Some pictures to back it up:
  23. Apple's new OS Mojave 10.14, has implemented a new security feature that can block input signals if not allowed access. Once a user has launched a DAW or stand alone plugin for the first time after the Mojave update, they will prompted to "allow mic access." If mic access is denied, user will not be able to receive an input via the specified software. To manually approve your software navigate to: System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy > Microphone From this menu, user will be granted the ability to approve any software that was previously denied.
  24. Hi All, I am looking for free DAW software and i found Cakewalk from Bandlab and would like to share this tip with you. So far, i think it's the best DAW software available for free. It looks very nice and does an amazing good job ! At home i am using it to record tracks directly from my Helix LT over USB. And it works like a charm. As i am fond of sharing tips and tricks, i wrote a small tutorial for installing and first use of Cakewalk to record directly from the Line 6 Helix (LT) You can find the tutorial here ! Hope you will find it handy en will enjoy it !
  25. Hey guys, Not sure if anyone has experienced this , but every time I have the Helix LT plugged into my computer (USB is plugged in order to use the HX editor, but device is actually running into my Daw through my saffire sound card) the Helix screen freezes and I have to restart it. It is rather annoying and it has meant that I have been unable to use the Helix to record (or just about anything) so any help would be appreciated. Cheers
