  1. Hello, I don’t play live much anymore but I still have my dream rig. 2 Variax Standards, 1pod HD500x controlling 2 line 6 DT 50 amps with L6S link. I’ve been watching the helix for years now, and Sweetwater over Xmas of 2021 had the helix native on sale for the non hardware owner for 199.00 so I couldent resist. The HD500x does not work well as an audio interface when using the VDI so I purchased a Berlinger uphoria 204. That works nice but now I haven’t figured out the midi yet to use the HD500x as a midi controller for native AND still control my 2 DT 50s. First I tried just plugging the Berlinger outs into the 2 DT 50s returns. Nothing at all with the l6 link connected, unplugged one amp just to try it mono, it worked, sounded great but there’s a lot of hum. I would totally have to control amp controls in the helix native, using the DT 50 gives you a tube power amp with zero control. Except for the mix control next to the dt50 fx loop. Turning that down to the middle detent almost makes the hum tolerable . It’s loud enough for my studio but not if I ever wanted to use native live/ in case I do. I’ve decided I’m never going to bring a computer into a live situation. I don’t think a computer is reliable enough for something critical like live playing. There’s no do overs should something freeze. anyway, I’ll probably get a helix floor or better but much more expensive the helix rack with the almost 500 dollar controller. So in the meantime it looks like the HX stomp has all the sounds of the full helix. I’m wondering if I can create patches in the HD500x so I still have an expression pedal although it could only be used for the hd fx, the volume pedal would work the whole thing, I’m one of those that still thinks the HD500x sounds great and to be honest the price difference now between a full helix and my hd500 isn’t worth 3x the cost. I love the I/os and for example the what is it 6 fx loop ins/outs can be used both ways you can select one as another input or outputs, it’s amazing if I’m reading it right it like they just put some empty jacks in back and when you assign them to something it’s like they are magically hardwired correctly. That’s amazing, I know the helix 3.0 has some control over the DT series amps but not as com-Pete as the hd. what I’m asking is if one of you still wanted to use your 2 hd series amps as stereo amps with the L6Link, and the control plus some dsp of the HD500x and the Variax control, but you wanted to add some of the large number of amps with full amp or pre amp, tons of fx, basically adding helix sound to my existing dream stereo rig, how would you do it. Would you leave the HD500x in control and add the HX stomp long version to your HD500x fx loop and not the other way around. In other words just like if you were adding just one stomp to your HD500x through the fx loop you add the full HX board the same way, but then in my mind comes the massive amount of programming for lack of words, you gotta build your HX preset first, then through the midi controller add the HX preset like other things to a HD500x foot switch. Question, if I have multiple different presets will the HX change everytime I step on a new button on the hd 500x? I hope I’m not too discouraging, I’m just afraid I’ll buy it and leave it in the box because I’ll have 3 days of manual reading to learn how to hook it up. Thanks hope it’s not too annoying.
  2. I currently own a DT25 combo and a Pod HD500X which I have connected via the Line6 Link cable. I am thinking of recording some music but the Dt25 is way too loud for my bedroom therefore I cannot mic it in high volume. Of course, if I do not crank it up, I would not get the sound I would want. The LVM is not enough for quality sound since it eliminates the power amp section of the amp. I was thinking of investing on an audio interface like the UX2 to record my music. My plan is to connect my amp to the audio interface through the Direct Out of the amp. If I follow this approach, I could disconnect the amp's connection with its cabinet so I wouldn't get any sound from the amp itself but I would get my sound from the monitors connected to the UX2. So if I have the amp's master volume amp cranked all the way up, I could adjust the volume from on my UX2 according to how I want but my recordings should sound as if it's coming from a cranked tube amp. Essentially, I would like to get the sound of a cranked tube amp sound in my recordings without disturbing my neighbors. Do you think this is a viable approach?
  3. I just bought a DT50 and am waiting for it's arrival, and though I've looked I've not found an answer to this question: Do effect blocks after the amp model on an HD500X preset act like they are in the effects loop of the DT amp or are they all placed in front of the amp's preamp?
  4. I have a DT50 & Pod HD500 over L6 link with AES cable. Last night I had a live gig and in the second set, in a middle of a song, the DT50 suddenly stops working! ðŸ˜ðŸ˜³ðŸ˜© In some kind of panic I switch over directly to my DT-amp, to ensure that my HD500 was ok and try to find the problem. The DT50 was no sounding at all, but the power lamp was lightning. I tried both channels (A & B) with no success. I turn it off and on and nothing helps me. To save the situation, I had to plug in my HD500 direct to the PA. Unfortunately I had'nt any Patches for that, so the sound was terrable with low volume because I use Pre-amp patches. The day after I check out my DT50 to find the problem, but the Amp was working and sounding!😳 I check the fuses to be shure and they were ok. My question is, anyone else who had this problem and can it be so, that the amp stops working if it's too hot? I have the master volume on max and set the output with the lokal volume.
  5. Hello, Please help me figure what it the best way to configure this setup. This is what I have: Variax JTV69 - HD500X - L2t These are my Questions: 1.- What would be the optimum output mode on the HD500X when using with the L2t? - Studio/Direct? - should I always use the PRE amp models? 2.- What would be the optimum speaker mode on the L2t when using with the HD500X? - Does the L2t auto select the speaker mode depending on the preset? it auto selects Electric guitar - Are this speaker modes able to be saved in the HD500X presets? 3.- What would be the best Speaker mode of the L2t when using the Variax acoustic models thru the HD500? - How can I Best reproduce or send this sound thru the FOH? Your opinion and advice will be Greatly appreciated.
  6. Hey guys! I am contemplating selling my DT25 combo and HD500x for a Helix, thoughts? I also have a JTV 59, if that influences the decision.
  7. Just to let you all guys know that I have finally cracked how to control this beast after a few months of trying...! Without a doubt THIS IS a dream rig.... This is a Godsend for us one man band cover musicians that can do pretty much anything I want so far.. The tones I'm getting with my JTV69, HD500x and the L2T are just amazing and in a band context they SHINE Apart from the known issues with my JTV69 ghost notes and the dreaded high E string sticking of the neck this system is PERFECTION...! thanks a lot Line 6...! have a great weekend my friends... Charles :)
  8. Hello everyone I think I finally found a rig that can do pretty much anything I need for my one man show. I'm very excited because it's so friggin convenient and it does sounds good. I still have a few quirks to iron out so hope that with this thread you can help me and a few others have a 100% Dream Rig system. 1. I'm going out of my HD500x via L6 to the L2T XLR out of the L2T to my Bose L1M2B2 Tonematch small console. Doing in it this way I'm getting the exact same sound of the L2T is getting and switching from acoustic to electric presets. I'm getting a Hum on the Bose from the L2T XLR that I need to get rid of ASAP Any ideas how to do this correctly? 2. I can also go XLR out of the HD500x to the Bose Tonematch console but the signal level drops BIG time and the hum goes down too. Still getting the L2T sounding great via the L6 cable and all the switching from acoustic to electric just fine. 3. Is there a better way in doing this and to control the volume on the L2T? 4. I'm getting great tone even direct from the HD500x to the Bose T1 console and I'm all about convenience and be as lightweight as possible Are any of you with me on this?… plus I can save myself some $$$ returning the L2T and have one less box to carry. The convenience of having a dedicated GTR monitor is great too I'm just asking because from another point of view I think is good to have all the sounds coming out of one source in this case the Bose L1M2B2 system. 5. Is there a way I can control the volume of the L2T other than the Master knob on the HD500x? Just want to know all the options available to have full control of the system and don't be slaved to knobs all over. 6. It would be great if you can explain your signal flow, system setup [ipads…etc…] Pictures or videos can make a big difference explaining things so I would appreciate if you guys can do that. thanks a lot for your help regards, Charles
  9. So I have a JTV, HD500X,and a DT25 and I'm looking to ad an L series to the Dream Rig. I'm looking for some advice on which to purchase. I like to get loud but I also play in my Condo at times. Will the L3 play low enough for condo use? I also play a little bass and saw that the L3 will dedicate a driver to the low end frequencies which I thought might be better for the bass.I will eventually want to add to the system ( I just saw that Sweetwater dropped the price on the MD20 by another $500 ). Anyway I would love to hear some opinions. Thanks.
  10. Hi My Name is Don I'm a Line6aholic Help Me, I'm addicted to Line 6 and the buy it now button at American musical and zzounds.com and it doesn't help that they both offer the payment plan that makes it even worse. It all started way back with the first flextone, I fell in love with it. I thought it was the best amp I ever played out of. Then I moved on to the flextone 3 and thought I would never buy another amp again. But of course Line 6 had to put out the DT50. So what did I do? you guessed it... Then I had to get the HD500 oh and don't forget the JTV69s to complete my dream rig. Now you would think I would stop there but noooo... I bought the Relay g30 wireless for all my other guitars, "don't get me started there"... well now that I had the dream rig I figured what the hell I need a new PA so what did I do buy it now, buy it now, and of course buy it now. Had to get the L3T just to see if that would work for my dream rig plus vocals and acoustic but is one enough? Two is always better. You know where it goes from here the Stagescape M20d now I have the dream stage although I haven't sprung for the subwoofers yet , crap why did I bring that up... Now my new addition is the HD Pro X. Now it's like I'm waiting with bated breath to get the next email from Line 6 telling me about the next addition to my Line 6 inventory. I do love Line 6 and it never lets me down, it gets better and better all the time... Thanks Line 6
  11. "Paul Hindmarsh from Line 6 shows us how the Line6 L2t Loudspeakers can be used alongside the POD HD500 to create an amazingly versatile setup that can be used in variety of scenarios" This Video was the Reason I upgraded my setup to include a L2t, I wanted to be able to get the amazing electric guitar sounds from my HD500X and the Amazing Variax Acoustic sounds in one single setup, I do own a DT25 Which I love but I have never figured out how to get a decent Variax acoustic sound to the FOH Mixer. Now that I have this setup, I have issues and questions to make it sound right. My main concern here is to find an answer or best advise on how to send a signal to the FOH Mixer for both the Electric Guitar Sounds and the Variax Acoustic Sounds. In a real life situation ( Live Setting ) When I connect the HD500X to the L2t via L6 Link, the default behavior HD500 to "Combo" and L2t to "Electric Guitar". - I am sure this is for a Reason. On that Video, Paul talks about programing both units for the desired sound behavior, for example: - He was using the L2t as an Electric Guitar mode and when changing to acoustic the L2t would reconfigure to Acoustic Guitar Mode. - I wonder what would be the ideal Output mode on the HD500 for this.. One thing that confuses me the most, he was MIKING the L2t!!.. So, This is telling me that there is not an easy way to get the best of both signals ( Electric & Variax Acoustic ) from the XLR outs of the HD500.. My questions is How can I Realisticaly use this setup in a Live situation and get the best of both worlds? I know I have already posted about this topic but I must be persistent and be able to figure something out based on the opinions and advise of what I think are some of the finest knowledgeable users and experts. Please Help.
