    Helix with DT25

Okay, I just bought a DT25 to run with my Helix. I did so to get a variety of options and have tubes pushing the power amp section of my rig. I am running it in 4CM and the Helix tones are as expected and tight. When I create a patch with the DT in the mix I am having issues on the effects at the back side of the amp. All my effects before the amp (Phase, Flanger, ETC) work great but my delays and reverb effects after the amp are not. YES they are turned on and I have played with the volume and control settings on the effect to no avail... Any thoughts????
  2. I’ve owned DT50 head, DT25 Head and cab and a DT25 combo. I was using the Pod HD 500x, which I was never completely satisfied with. I traded and sold all of it off and for the last year or so I’ve been using the firehawk 1500. It’s not a bad set up but I find it lacking.... I ordered a Dt25 head and cab used and I am waiting on it to be delivered. I was thinking of getting a used helix or a helix lt until I saw the new HxX Effects. I’m thinking this could be a great fit. I loved the sound of the DT 25 on it’s, for some reason even reading guides and after tweaking for hours I never could get the sound I was after with a the pod hd500x It allways had Fiz or some other noise I would fixate on. I loved the cabling of the line 6 link. I’m thinking of the H effects in the effects loop and Midi cable to change the topology of the amp. The Helix would give me more options. For 1/2 the cost I could get the effects of the Helix, the midi control of the helix and the versatility and the tone of the DT 25. I am keeping the Firehawk 1500 so I could use the Helix on both... Any DT owners who run it with a Helix have any opinion on this? .
  3. Got a hd500x back in 2015. after many hours... i love it. I then got a dt25. I've had some problems with the amp ... from fuses blowing, to tubes going bad... probably put in 4 sets over the last few years. When it works it is great. My latest problem with the amp is the presence (or sometimes the mid) would shoot to about 75% without me doing anything. This happens when I use the AES cable or the XLR cable. I just bought another dt25, partly to see if they would change on a new amp, and to have a backup... (or to look cool on stage by having two amps :)). The first thing I noticed is the presence (or the mid) behaves as it should. It doesn't change by itself. The second thing I noticed is it sounds much better than my old amp with the same settings. I think I may have a tube going bad again in my old amp. Ok, hope you are still reading because here are my questions: 1. The new amp labels that light up (volume, bass, treble, etc.) are yellow, not white like my old amp. Is that the way it is supposed to be or do those lights eventually get dimmer and go out? The amp sounds great and seems to work fine so it really isn't a big deal. 2, I wanted to play through both amps so I hooked them together using the l6 link. On the HD500x I set the l6:Control to Amp1:=AmpA; Amp2=AmpA. It looks like I have to set this for each patch. Is there a way to globally set this, so I don't have to go do this to all my patches? I'd also love to hear if anyone else is using this setup and what variations you guys use. Thanks.
  4. So I just recently reacquired a DT25 (head this time; had a combo a few years back). When I connect it via midi to my MacBook pro (using the DT Customizer) I can't get it to do what I want. For example, when I am on channel A, Voice 1, when I change the Blackface Double to a Blackface Deluxe Vib on the Customizer, instead of staying on Voice 1 the amp automatically switches over to Voice 3, even if the Customizer is set to Voice 1. I don't ever remember having this problem with my combo when I used the iPhone Customizer app. What am I doing wrong? Is it me or is the Customizer not up to par? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  5. Hey everyone. I understand that the Helix+DT integration questions have been asked a thousand times before, so I will make this as brief as possible. I have a POD HD500X, finally got a DT25, gotta say these things work very nicely together. I also have a Helix. I've experimented with the DT25-DT50 Remote template on the Helix, used some DT Edit software, and I've read a lot of forum posts. I feel as though I've finally wrapped my head around the DT25, but the cabinet IR situation confuses me. First, the Helix DT25-DT50 Remote template is set up to use the Helix's preamp models. This template's MIDI functionality only allows me to change the voicing settings, but not the DT25's cab model, which surprises me because the DT25 can receive a MIDI signal that will change it's internal cab model. Is Line 6 assuming that there is a specific DT25 cab model I'll be using when I pair the Helix and the DT25? Or should I turn the cab emulation off on the DT25 when using Helix preamp models? Secondly, if I do turn the cab emulation on the DT25 off, can I use the Helix Cabs with the DT25? I believe I read that the Cab IRs that are built into the DT25 are specially designed to work with the custom Celestion speaker. Is this true? If I can use a cab from the Helix, where in the signal chain do I put it? Right after the Preamp, or is there a better place to put it, like in the FX return or something? Thanks for taking the time to look over my question. I understand that "what sounds best" to me is how it's supposed to be set up, but I'm asking this to understand how the DT25 is set up and to figure out different ways that I can hook the Helix into the DT25. Thanks for the help.
  6. Hi there I purchasef a used DT25 112 combo 2 weeks ago. It was working perfect, no issues at all, but I decided to install firmware version 2. So this morning I tried to upgrade but failed with the code 8000000A error and the amp is not responding now. The steps I followed were 1 Connect the amp via an Alesis USB-MIDI cable to my Mac running OS Sierra 2 Launched Line 6 Monkey, which detected the DT25 with firmware 1.0 3 Clicked the update button and after a short time I got the 8000000A message 4 When restarting the amp and Monkey, the amp does not get detected anymore. I googled for problems and decided to try it again with the dowloaded file. No succes, same error. Now the amp is useless. I searched and tried the safe mode with channel B toggle, the pinching topology and pentode switches, but nothing restores the amp to its default. I tried several times to upgrade, even on a windows 10 computer, but the problem does not get solved. Anybody here that can help me with this ? I loved the amp as it served as a practice amp that was not too big and versatile enough.
  7. I have a JTV89F purchased in June 2016 and has worked flawlessly through my old Flextone III Then in March this year purchased a DT25 amp and cab and a PODHD500X All hooked up using L6 link cable and digital interface lead Last 3 times I have used the guitar the sound randomly cuts out, if I'm runing delays or echo i can still hear the effect fade so the amp and Pod are most likely not the cause. There is no specific time when this occurs could be after 5 min, 10 min or half and hour and it cuts out randomly, might be for 1 second or up to maybe 5 seconds and then the sound comes back. After this occurs I've usually had enough and turn everything off and have a break. The light remains on the model selector switch so the guitar is still getting power. I use the guitar with the battery removed and in March I made sure all the firmware on each device was up to date. Any ideas
  8. hello!, i hope some one here can help me,i'm a long time line 6 user and i have a problem: the L6 LINK port on my DT25 got smashed in (female) and i need to replace it, i live in the dominican republic and we have no authorized distribuitors here and nowhere i can call.i flew to NY 2 months ago and i tried to get it personally at GUITAR CENTER were i bought the amp and it was useless, they had to order the part and it would take longer than what i had to get it so a friend picked up the package few weeks after and send it here, just to realize it was the wrong connector, below is a description (image) of what i need and what i got instead, if it's not possible to get the "female port" of the L6 LINK, could i get the whole card were it's connected to???, please somebody help me, or at leas a phone number i can call, i'd appreciate it a great deal. peace tony almont.
  9. I tried using Helix into DT25 with L6 link and then DT25 cab out (no cab) back into the Helix mic in and recorded over USB. I used a Minotaur into a US Deluxe Vib then split to two different 3Sigma Friedman cab IR's out to the DT25. I set the mic level to 30db in global and split the signal. One channel is dry amp tone, other channel has Adriatic Delay and 63 Spring Reverb. Set both outs to USB 3/4 and recorded in Tracktion 7. A lot easier than 4CM, just L6 to DT and XLR back to Helix. https://soundcloud.com/steve-bowley-1/dtintohelix
  10. My Helix is on the way!!! :) Does the helix "know" automatically what type of output it is plugged int to? I have a DT 25 that I practice with but when I play at church I plug directly into the mixer using xlr. Will the Helix automatically adjust the sounds based on what output I'm using? If not I'll need to duplicate every patch, 1 version for amped and 1 version for mixer.
  11. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to load amps in the DT25? I have the DT25 112 combo, HD500, midi mobilizer, Ipad, laptop. I understand the linking of the HD500 and the DT25 and working them together but I would like to just choose and add amps to the DT25. Maybe 4 clean amps in channel A and 4 dirty amps in channel B to use as a stand alone amp.
  12. Recently I hooked up the Helix to a DT25 amp using the L6 Link, and I've lost the ability to select topology in Channel A, thus rendering it useless. It currently has no topology light on it to select. No matter what preset I select on the Helix (template, factory or user), I can't get Channel A to activate. Any suggestions on how to recover?
  13. Hi guys. How difficult is it to do this?. I just bought one of these units and I live in a country where there is no one that provides this kind of service. Shipping the head to the US for service would be extremely expensive both ways. I'm thinking that I should have bought something else. Your comments would be most welcomed JG
  14. I just bought one of these bad boys online and my dad is bringing it to me. I also bought the speaker cabinet. The cabinet will be checked in with the original packaging for protection. Not sure what to do about the head. Can some of you please chime in? Are the tubes easy to remove and put back in?. These are my options as I see it: 1 - We could take the head out of its box and put it in a carry on suitcase. 2 - Same as 1 but removing the tubes 3 - Check it in with the cabinet 4 - Same as 3 but removing the tubes Shipping the unit directly to me is not an option as I'm currently living overseas and the cost is enormous. Thanks everybody!
  15. OK, I'm new to using dual amps in the HD500 with a single DT-25. When I enable two amps, the tone of the first amp DRASTICALLY changes, even if I haven't even selected another amp yet (the bottom amp is darkened and reads "disabled"). What happened to my sweet tone?
  16. Hey friends! I've restarted that epic quest for the right tone. Previously I had loved the AC30, particularly for its wonderful overdrive (I'd use a boost/compressor for juice, no overdrive pedal needed), but its clean tone was not warm enough. So I experimented and fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote). I started experimenting with overdrive pedals but nothing compares to the AC30's natural drive tone. Anyone have any suggestions? Alternative amp models with a warm, full clean and a warm but tight, crunchy overdrive? Distortion pedals that actually sound good (not fuzzy or farty)? Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
  17. Hey guys! I am contemplating selling my DT25 combo and HD500x for a Helix, thoughts? I also have a JTV 59, if that influences the decision.
  18. Seeking input from other Line 6 users. I bought a POD HD500X unit a few months ago and liked it so much that I went ahead and ordered a DT25 head with cabinet. Always wanted to own a tube amp. Do you all think that the current line of floor boards (helix for example) will offer the same level of functionality as the POD.? Again I know that only Line 6 people know the answer so I'm just looking for thoughts on this matter. I guess there is always MIDI but from what I read the L6 Link is much easier. If there is no additional functionality for the DTs to come for the new boards would you all be happy with your DT25...does it stand on its own as an amp without the L6 link stuff? Happy rockin' new year everybody.
  19. took the plunge and bought a L2M today. Together with a good 110 ohm XLR cable. Connected the Helix via the Line 6 link and am very dissapointed. I must be doing something wrong. The digital clipping is back on the mandarin and brittish amps. All the others are sounding harsh and far away from all the sounds I am hearing from other Helix users. Bought the Glenn delaunne patches and only the 5150 patch is comming a bit nearer but is still souding like a cheap transistor amp My POD 500x and the DT25 amp sounding much better. This combination helix/l2m should at a minimum sound the same So, what am I doing wrong? (FW loaded again, stock patches via the headphone OK, NOK with the lm2) Someone having an idea? I am running out....
  20. Hi Guys, I wrote hoping someone can answer my question. I have a DT25 combo that i bought 2nd hand, I had to replace the stock power tubes and put a pair of JJ. I don't remember how it was before because there was a considerable amount since I played on that amp... Well, Class A mode sound louder (huge difference) than Class A/B (and it supposed that A/B are 25 watts and A 10). Anyone as any idea that what could happened? Class A/B mode sounds loud as I remember class A/B mode, but brighter... and class A/B almost a 1/3 lower than A at the same volume... I think that is not right... but I don't remember which mode sounded louder before... Suggestions? Sorry if I wrote something wrong, English isn´t my primary language. I'm from Chile. Thanks!
  21. I saw some older posts talking about various cables for the Line 6 link. I was wondering if there was any newer info on this. I am currently using a cheap Hosa EBU-010 AES/EBU Digital Audio Cable. I don't have any problems with it, but every time I look at how thin it is, I wonder if using something higher end, such as Mogami Gold AES would work better. Anyone try some of the various higher end cables? Thanks.
  22. So I've noticed over the past year or two companies like Mesa boogie and Rivera are making load boxes/attenuators with cab simulators so you can use a non-digital amp, and record direct. Some of the recordings are ok, and some are pretty bad from what I've heard. I pretty much do the same thing with my DT25 and sounds pretty great imho. I have the non cab sim version of the RockCrusher. I squash the signal to my cab all the way down to nothing so I don't annoy my neighbors, and this way I can use the tubes on my DT25 to record direct using the direct out on my head. I don't have any clips just yet to upload, but I feel that it really gives it that extra crispness and punch that you don't quite get in Standby mode where it bypasses the tubes. It really makes a big difference! Hope to have some examples in the next few weeks if I don't get too busy at work. So my question for you all is, do you think Line6 would ever make an attenuator/load box with just cab sims? I mean they have way more extensive knowledge on creating them over these other companies so I'm sure they could do a much much better job, or do you think the market just isn't big enough for it yet? I honestly think more and more people will be using them in the future, because after experimenting with it myself I think a hybrid digit/tube setup for direct recording is pretty damn great!

  25. hi, I've just bought a DT25 and an HD500X. Both things are amazing, but I absolutely love the "Voicing IV modern high-gain" that comes with my DT25. However, I haven't been able to get the same sound when I plug the HD500X into my DT25. In other words, the amp by itself seems to sound better than the HD500X + the amp. Which is the amp that this Voicing IV on my DT25 is based on? I've been able to replicate the other 3 voicings (so, the HD500X + DT25 sounds almost identical to the DT25 sounds), but I can't find anything similar to Voicing IV (Bogner Uber pre is the most similar thing I've found, but I still prefer the DT25 original voicing). I'm using the HD500X Line6 link with an XLR AES/EBU (as recommended). All the amps in the HD500X are in "PRE" position, too. Can anybody help me, pls? Thanks
