  1. I want to buy a DT25 combo, but I want to be shure I can get official support here in the Netherlands. I live in Amsterdam. Are there people here that have positive experiences with support. Line6 is very well known here and support can be necessary. Thanks
  2. Quite recently my DT25 has been acting weird. First, it started with an unusually loud "thump" when turning the speaker on from standby (after the DT warms up a bit of course in standby). Then I've noticed sounds that shouldn't be there when strumming chords on a clean setting (single strings sound OK). And I've noticed that switching between pentode and triode modes also causes an unusually loud "thump". Finally, a worrisome "thump" is also heard if I disable the AMP on my POD500. In general, I've come to somewhat fear these thumps, as it seems to me something isn't working (or isn't operated) as it should. I cherish my DT and would prefer it to keep rocking on. Any idea what it could be and what should I do to alleviate the problem? EDIT: I've realized I've never updated the firmware on the DT25. While the problem above doesn't seem like a firmware issue, I'm also kind of wondering if I can even DO a firmware update with "Dream Rig"...?
  3. I just noticed that my DT25 combo has the onboard speaker plugged into the 16ohm output labelled C. It has been like this since NEW. However, on the back of the speaker I can clearly see it states 8 ohms. Which speaker output should the onboard speaker be plugged into? Should it be plugged into one of the 8 ohm outputs labelled B? Also - will having the speaker plugged into the 16ohm output when it is in fact an 8 ohm output damage either the speaker or the amp?
  4. When I use the amp (dt25) with direct guitar input (no POD) and switch the amp models manually between I II III IV I get significant volume variation. II and IV are loud. I and III are very quiet. Is this normal behavior or is there something I can do to even out the variations?
  5. I have posted on this subject before, but now it's to the point where it's intolerable. I normally use the L6 link to my HD500. I used to fire up the pod first, then the amp. After a while it started to hang up during it's startup routine, and when it did that I'd get no sound. I'd look at the lights, and sometimes they were all lit, sometimes none were lit, or sometimes I'd see the wrong combination of lights. And it does this to this day, only more often. After some experimentation and reading something Line 6 wrote, I changed my routine to starting both devices separately, then connecting the L6 link. If I got sound, I could then plug in the L6 link too and everything was rosy. For a while this worked. When the problem resurfaced, I resolved to employ a shut down routine where I'd go to standby, then unplug the L6 link, then wait, then power off, then unplug from the wall. (powering up still required keeping the L6 link unconnected at first) This worked flawlessly for a while, but now it too fails quite often, and any time I don't get the sequence EXACTLY right it seems to always fail. Once the thing fails to initialize correctly, I have no choice but to restart it, and it usually fails 5-15 times after that before eventually starting. I've done a factory reset so many times I could puke. I've flipped the power and standby switches with it unplugged ad nauseum. I have exceptionally clean and uniform power PLUS a power conditioner, so it's not that. When working correctly, I believe the lights and relays go like this when the power switch is thrown: 1) all on; 2) all off; 3) coinciding with the last amp setting (prior to connecting the L6 link). when having the issue, it usually makes it to step 1 or step 2 and hangs there--and I get no sound. A couple times it's even gone to step 3 and looked right but still no sound--but I think in those instances I was doing the multiple restarts in fairly rapid succession. I'm at wits' end, but I figure that were I to ship it to Line 6 they probably wouldn't witness the problem (remember, it's intermittent). Below is a similar thread I did earlier in the problem's evolution. Anybody out there encounter anything like this? Thanks for reading!!!
  6. Hi All just in case anyone here is looking to sell, I'm looking to buy... thanks david
  7. Hi All, Firstly apologies if this has already been covered. I have had a DT25 and POD HD500X for a year or so and am struggling to get a good setlist together. All I really want is a classic 4 patch setup, clean, crunchy, heavy and lead. I love the sound of the DT25 on its own but am really struggling to find a great setlist with the two devices combined to the point where I'm wondering if I should sack the POD off and just start from scratch. It would be a shame as the POD is so versatile. Anyway, If anyone has any tips or advice id really appreciate it. Cheers Rich

    Helix with DT25

Okay, I just bought a DT25 to run with my Helix. I did so to get a variety of options and have tubes pushing the power amp section of my rig. I am running it in 4CM and the Helix tones are as expected and tight. When I create a patch with the DT in the mix I am having issues on the effects at the back side of the amp. All my effects before the amp (Phase, Flanger, ETC) work great but my delays and reverb effects after the amp are not. YES they are turned on and I have played with the volume and control settings on the effect to no avail... Any thoughts????
  9. Got a hd500x back in 2015. after many hours... i love it. I then got a dt25. I've had some problems with the amp ... from fuses blowing, to tubes going bad... probably put in 4 sets over the last few years. When it works it is great. My latest problem with the amp is the presence (or sometimes the mid) would shoot to about 75% without me doing anything. This happens when I use the AES cable or the XLR cable. I just bought another dt25, partly to see if they would change on a new amp, and to have a backup... (or to look cool on stage by having two amps :)). The first thing I noticed is the presence (or the mid) behaves as it should. It doesn't change by itself. The second thing I noticed is it sounds much better than my old amp with the same settings. I think I may have a tube going bad again in my old amp. Ok, hope you are still reading because here are my questions: 1. The new amp labels that light up (volume, bass, treble, etc.) are yellow, not white like my old amp. Is that the way it is supposed to be or do those lights eventually get dimmer and go out? The amp sounds great and seems to work fine so it really isn't a big deal. 2, I wanted to play through both amps so I hooked them together using the l6 link. On the HD500x I set the l6:Control to Amp1:=AmpA; Amp2=AmpA. It looks like I have to set this for each patch. Is there a way to globally set this, so I don't have to go do this to all my patches? I'd also love to hear if anyone else is using this setup and what variations you guys use. Thanks.
  10. So I just recently reacquired a DT25 (head this time; had a combo a few years back). When I connect it via midi to my MacBook pro (using the DT Customizer) I can't get it to do what I want. For example, when I am on channel A, Voice 1, when I change the Blackface Double to a Blackface Deluxe Vib on the Customizer, instead of staying on Voice 1 the amp automatically switches over to Voice 3, even if the Customizer is set to Voice 1. I don't ever remember having this problem with my combo when I used the iPhone Customizer app. What am I doing wrong? Is it me or is the Customizer not up to par? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  11. Hello all, I am tweaking patches for a church gig today, and find one of them needs the volume lowered to be leveled with the other songs in the set. I am using my HD500 through a DT25, with a JTV 69. On the HD500, I move the volume control to the level I want, noting that the "notch" on the LED shows the old position. I click "Save" twice to save the settings. I then can see that the notch has moved to the correct place. super. However, when I switch to another patch, then back, the notch (and volume level) have moved back to the original location. Why can't I save over the patch? Any ideas/suggestions? Anyone else having this trouble? Dave
  12. I have a JTV89F purchased in June 2016 and has worked flawlessly through my old Flextone III Then in March this year purchased a DT25 amp and cab and a PODHD500X All hooked up using L6 link cable and digital interface lead Last 3 times I have used the guitar the sound randomly cuts out, if I'm runing delays or echo i can still hear the effect fade so the amp and Pod are most likely not the cause. There is no specific time when this occurs could be after 5 min, 10 min or half and hour and it cuts out randomly, might be for 1 second or up to maybe 5 seconds and then the sound comes back. After this occurs I've usually had enough and turn everything off and have a break. The light remains on the model selector switch so the guitar is still getting power. I use the guitar with the battery removed and in March I made sure all the firmware on each device was up to date. Any ideas
  13. Hey everyone. I understand that the Helix+DT integration questions have been asked a thousand times before, so I will make this as brief as possible. I have a POD HD500X, finally got a DT25, gotta say these things work very nicely together. I also have a Helix. I've experimented with the DT25-DT50 Remote template on the Helix, used some DT Edit software, and I've read a lot of forum posts. I feel as though I've finally wrapped my head around the DT25, but the cabinet IR situation confuses me. First, the Helix DT25-DT50 Remote template is set up to use the Helix's preamp models. This template's MIDI functionality only allows me to change the voicing settings, but not the DT25's cab model, which surprises me because the DT25 can receive a MIDI signal that will change it's internal cab model. Is Line 6 assuming that there is a specific DT25 cab model I'll be using when I pair the Helix and the DT25? Or should I turn the cab emulation off on the DT25 when using Helix preamp models? Secondly, if I do turn the cab emulation on the DT25 off, can I use the Helix Cabs with the DT25? I believe I read that the Cab IRs that are built into the DT25 are specially designed to work with the custom Celestion speaker. Is this true? If I can use a cab from the Helix, where in the signal chain do I put it? Right after the Preamp, or is there a better place to put it, like in the FX return or something? Thanks for taking the time to look over my question. I understand that "what sounds best" to me is how it's supposed to be set up, but I'm asking this to understand how the DT25 is set up and to figure out different ways that I can hook the Helix into the DT25. Thanks for the help.
  14. Hi there I purchasef a used DT25 112 combo 2 weeks ago. It was working perfect, no issues at all, but I decided to install firmware version 2. So this morning I tried to upgrade but failed with the code 8000000A error and the amp is not responding now. The steps I followed were 1 Connect the amp via an Alesis USB-MIDI cable to my Mac running OS Sierra 2 Launched Line 6 Monkey, which detected the DT25 with firmware 1.0 3 Clicked the update button and after a short time I got the 8000000A message 4 When restarting the amp and Monkey, the amp does not get detected anymore. I googled for problems and decided to try it again with the dowloaded file. No succes, same error. Now the amp is useless. I searched and tried the safe mode with channel B toggle, the pinching topology and pentode switches, but nothing restores the amp to its default. I tried several times to upgrade, even on a windows 10 computer, but the problem does not get solved. Anybody here that can help me with this ? I loved the amp as it served as a practice amp that was not too big and versatile enough.
  15. Before I describe my problem, I want to point out that I have read about latency and popping on the DT50 when changing topologies. I think my problem is more severe than normal, and I have done my best to describe the issue and how to reproduce it clearly below. Products involved: POD HD500 w/Firmware 2.1 connected to DT50 1x12 Combo w/Firmware 2.0 via L6 Link. The POD and DT50 were both set to factory settings and presets. I recently purchased a used DT50 and connected it to my HD500 that I purchased new years ago after I update the firmware on both. When changing presets on my HD500, I hear significant, sometimes severe, pops on the DT50. If anyone would like to attempt to reproduce my problem and give me feedback on their results, it would be a huge help. Specifically, when I change from the factory preset of 6A - Mysterious Wei under the Songs / Style bank to 6B - Plugged In Baby under the Songs / Style bank, the amp makes one loud pop and a second smaller pop and the sound cuts out for a second or more. This problem is extremely noticeable because of the loud pops combined with no guitar sound. I know part of this is from a topology change and a class A to AB change, but this is far more severe than anything I would expect from reading the forums previously. My questions for the forums regarding this issue: Can anyone reproduce this problem with a DT50 known to be in good working order with good tubes and an HD500 connected using the same preset change I mentioned above? Any suggestions to minimize this issue? Is there a problem with my DT50? Is this a sign of worn tubes that need replaced? Is this considered normal operation for the DT50, or does it need looked at by a technician? Finally, if anyone out there has a DT25, would you mind trying to reproduce this on your DT25 and reporting your experience? I have read that the DT25 is much better with switching than the DT50. I greatly appreciate assistance. If needed, I will try to post a sound clip of the problem, but I will not be able to do that until Friday or Saturday. This is my first tube amp I've ever owned after many years of playing guitar. I enjoy the sound so much that I hope I can find a solution to minimize this issue. Thanks, Baoh
  16. I've read that the pre-amps in HD500 are the best to use with DT50 and DT25, so I've put a setlist together with all of the pres as a baseline for my patch creation. The problem I encountered was that the volumes varied WILDLY and I kept blowing up my ears going from the quietest amp (Hiway-100 apparently) and a Treadplate for example. Of course one amp is louder than the other, but for home use, or testing, having these patches be leveled is a must So I've gone through and leveled out (with the MIXER setting) all 30 of the pre amps to be very roughly the same loudness. There is definitely some variance. If anyone cares to correct them more properly, please do so and post the update. In this setlist, Hiway-100 is the quietest amp- I have the db setting on the mixer maxed, so I used that setting as the baseline for loudness of all the other amps. Very unscientific, but now I don't get ringing ears if I'm switching between. Hope this helps. DT25 30 pre-Amps-leveled.zip
  17. I've had my DT25 for over a year now. Most likely within the next few months to a year I'll need to replace the tubes. While I have time to research and figure out what may be the best ones to try I thought I was ask other forum members. I looked all over last night for recommendations for replacement EL84s but I can't find a thread. I remember the old forums had a few (at least I thought). Any recommendations for those who replaced their tubes would be greatly appreciated. Even recommendation for the 12XA7 would be nice (I'm still not even sure what the 12XA7 does in the DT25). My understanding is the 12XA7 will last a lot longer than the EL84s. I play at church where we have a great variety of styles and tones. Anywhere from very clean (chime) delays to overdriven humbucker distorted tones. I use a lot of different models but the Blackface Lux Vib, J800 & PHD Motorway are my "go to" models. I have used about 5 other models for various songs but those are the main ones. I use all pre models. I use the L6Link. I run the master on the DT25 at 2 or 3 o'clock ever time I play (with an attenuator). I like the way it sounds now but just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or opinions on replacement tubes. I'm not opposed to buying a new set of matched tubes Sovteks (what is in there now) but always open to change. I know its all subjective and seasoned to personal taste but I would greatly appreciate the feedback. thanks.
  18. hello!, i hope some one here can help me,i'm a long time line 6 user and i have a problem: the L6 LINK port on my DT25 got smashed in (female) and i need to replace it, i live in the dominican republic and we have no authorized distribuitors here and nowhere i can call.i flew to NY 2 months ago and i tried to get it personally at GUITAR CENTER were i bought the amp and it was useless, they had to order the part and it would take longer than what i had to get it so a friend picked up the package few weeks after and send it here, just to realize it was the wrong connector, below is a description (image) of what i need and what i got instead, if it's not possible to get the "female port" of the L6 LINK, could i get the whole card were it's connected to???, please somebody help me, or at leas a phone number i can call, i'd appreciate it a great deal. peace tony almont.
  19. I'm considering assembling a DT25 dream rig. In a nutshell, what are the advantages/disadvantages/differences between using an HD500 and HD500X. I know the "X" comes with more bells and whistles, but are those extras worth it from a dream rig perspective? I completely understand a lot depends on how much flexibility/how many features I may personally want. But like buying a cell phone, I don't want to pay for stuff that sounds impressive that in real world applications, I'll never use. As a point of reference, I primarily work in a touring act that does a tribute to the 60s Brit Invasion and American Classic Rock/Pop. However, I also work with an 80s tribute and sit in on shows that run the gamut from Standards to Metal. I currently have a Flextone III rig with JTVs. At present, I essentially use 6 basic user presets with different effect combinations. Working "globally" like this allows a generalize preset to work across most musical styles. Kind of a one size fits all strategy. Ultimately, I would like to be able to program custom presets for specific songs, and perhaps free up my hands from manual JTV switching between songs. Hoping to get some feedback from others who pondered the choice of HD Pod to get. Thanks!
  20. Hi guys. How difficult is it to do this?. I just bought one of these units and I live in a country where there is no one that provides this kind of service. Shipping the head to the US for service would be extremely expensive both ways. I'm thinking that I should have bought something else. Your comments would be most welcomed JG
  21. I tried using Helix into DT25 with L6 link and then DT25 cab out (no cab) back into the Helix mic in and recorded over USB. I used a Minotaur into a US Deluxe Vib then split to two different 3Sigma Friedman cab IR's out to the DT25. I set the mic level to 30db in global and split the signal. One channel is dry amp tone, other channel has Adriatic Delay and 63 Spring Reverb. Set both outs to USB 3/4 and recorded in Tracktion 7. A lot easier than 4CM, just L6 to DT and XLR back to Helix. https://soundcloud.com/steve-bowley-1/dtintohelix
  22. My Helix is on the way!!! :) Does the helix "know" automatically what type of output it is plugged int to? I have a DT 25 that I practice with but when I play at church I plug directly into the mixer using xlr. Will the Helix automatically adjust the sounds based on what output I'm using? If not I'll need to duplicate every patch, 1 version for amped and 1 version for mixer.
  23. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to load amps in the DT25? I have the DT25 112 combo, HD500, midi mobilizer, Ipad, laptop. I understand the linking of the HD500 and the DT25 and working them together but I would like to just choose and add amps to the DT25. Maybe 4 clean amps in channel A and 4 dirty amps in channel B to use as a stand alone amp.
  24. Hi everyone, I’d be grateful for a bit of advice about the DT25. At the moment I'm running an HD500 through an old Trademark 30 and then using the Trademark’s XLR out to go to the house PA. Sometimes I use a Variax 700 electric (great guitar, by the way), sometimes a Tele or a Strat. Over the last month or the Trademark has been playing up a bit, getting really noisy for a bit and then going back to its normal quiet operation - I fear it may be on its way out and as I bought it second hand at a good price and have played it for about 5 years, I'm ok with that. So I'm in the market for a tube amp. Here are my requirements: - reasonably low wattage - must have XLR out - must have effects loop So there are quite a few amps that would fit the bill, but I feel I'm settling on either a DT25 combo or a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 combo. The Tubemeister has 2 channels, buit-in reverb, XLR out and you can attenuate it down to 5 or even 1 watt operation. The DT25 looks interesting because of the integration with my HD500 via L6 link - it also meets my criteria. So I'm looking for a bit of advice… I've played guitar for over 30 years now, some of the time as a semi-pro, but at present mostly play in a church worship band which in spite of a fairly loud acoustic drummer doesn't need much on-stage volume. My concern with the DT25 is that it might be difficult to get the tubes working at low to medium volumes - if the sound at low-ish volume is mostly a modelled sound, I think I’d be happier with the Tubemeister attenuated down to 5 watts, and link that to my POD using the effects loop. And the other issue is that I don't really use that many amp sounds, just a mixture of a few clean and mildly-overdriven sounds, so the DT25’s flexibility could be a bit wasted… What do you think, DT25, Tubemeister or maybe another solution I haven't considered? Any thoughts on the quality of sound from the XLR out to a PA? I'm not into mic'ing amps any more... Thanks in advance!
  25. Hey guys! I am contemplating selling my DT25 combo and HD500x for a Helix, thoughts? I also have a JTV 59, if that influences the decision.
