  1. I've read that the pre-amps in HD500 are the best to use with DT50 and DT25, so I've put a setlist together with all of the pres as a baseline for my patch creation. The problem I encountered was that the volumes varied WILDLY and I kept blowing up my ears going from the quietest amp (Hiway-100 apparently) and a Treadplate for example. Of course one amp is louder than the other, but for home use, or testing, having these patches be leveled is a must So I've gone through and leveled out (with the MIXER setting) all 30 of the pre amps to be very roughly the same loudness. There is definitely some variance. If anyone cares to correct them more properly, please do so and post the update. In this setlist, Hiway-100 is the quietest amp- I have the db setting on the mixer maxed, so I used that setting as the baseline for loudness of all the other amps. Very unscientific, but now I don't get ringing ears if I'm switching between. Hope this helps. DT25 30 pre-Amps-leveled.zip
  2. I've had my DT25 for over a year now. Most likely within the next few months to a year I'll need to replace the tubes. While I have time to research and figure out what may be the best ones to try I thought I was ask other forum members. I looked all over last night for recommendations for replacement EL84s but I can't find a thread. I remember the old forums had a few (at least I thought). Any recommendations for those who replaced their tubes would be greatly appreciated. Even recommendation for the 12XA7 would be nice (I'm still not even sure what the 12XA7 does in the DT25). My understanding is the 12XA7 will last a lot longer than the EL84s. I play at church where we have a great variety of styles and tones. Anywhere from very clean (chime) delays to overdriven humbucker distorted tones. I use a lot of different models but the Blackface Lux Vib, J800 & PHD Motorway are my "go to" models. I have used about 5 other models for various songs but those are the main ones. I use all pre models. I use the L6Link. I run the master on the DT25 at 2 or 3 o'clock ever time I play (with an attenuator). I like the way it sounds now but just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or opinions on replacement tubes. I'm not opposed to buying a new set of matched tubes Sovteks (what is in there now) but always open to change. I know its all subjective and seasoned to personal taste but I would greatly appreciate the feedback. thanks.
  3. hello!, i hope some one here can help me,i'm a long time line 6 user and i have a problem: the L6 LINK port on my DT25 got smashed in (female) and i need to replace it, i live in the dominican republic and we have no authorized distribuitors here and nowhere i can call.i flew to NY 2 months ago and i tried to get it personally at GUITAR CENTER were i bought the amp and it was useless, they had to order the part and it would take longer than what i had to get it so a friend picked up the package few weeks after and send it here, just to realize it was the wrong connector, below is a description (image) of what i need and what i got instead, if it's not possible to get the "female port" of the L6 LINK, could i get the whole card were it's connected to???, please somebody help me, or at leas a phone number i can call, i'd appreciate it a great deal. peace tony almont.
  4. I'm considering assembling a DT25 dream rig. In a nutshell, what are the advantages/disadvantages/differences between using an HD500 and HD500X. I know the "X" comes with more bells and whistles, but are those extras worth it from a dream rig perspective? I completely understand a lot depends on how much flexibility/how many features I may personally want. But like buying a cell phone, I don't want to pay for stuff that sounds impressive that in real world applications, I'll never use. As a point of reference, I primarily work in a touring act that does a tribute to the 60s Brit Invasion and American Classic Rock/Pop. However, I also work with an 80s tribute and sit in on shows that run the gamut from Standards to Metal. I currently have a Flextone III rig with JTVs. At present, I essentially use 6 basic user presets with different effect combinations. Working "globally" like this allows a generalize preset to work across most musical styles. Kind of a one size fits all strategy. Ultimately, I would like to be able to program custom presets for specific songs, and perhaps free up my hands from manual JTV switching between songs. Hoping to get some feedback from others who pondered the choice of HD Pod to get. Thanks!

    DT25 Head - Replacing tubes

Hi guys. How difficult is it to do this?. I just bought one of these units and I live in a country where there is no one that provides this kind of service. Shipping the head to the US for service would be extremely expensive both ways. I'm thinking that I should have bought something else. Your comments would be most welcomed JG

Helix to DT25, Back in to Helix Mic

I tried using Helix into DT25 with L6 link and then DT25 cab out (no cab) back into the Helix mic in and recorded over USB. I used a Minotaur into a US Deluxe Vib then split to two different 3Sigma Friedman cab IR's out to the DT25. I set the mic level to 30db in global and split the signal. One channel is dry amp tone, other channel has Adriatic Delay and 63 Spring Reverb. Set both outs to USB 3/4 and recorded in Tracktion 7. A lot easier than 4CM, just L6 to DT and XLR back to Helix. https://soundcloud.com/steve-bowley-1/dtintohelix

    DT 25/FOH Auto Adjustment?

My Helix is on the way!!! :) Does the helix "know" automatically what type of output it is plugged int to? I have a DT 25 that I practice with but when I play at church I plug directly into the mixer using xlr. Will the Helix automatically adjust the sounds based on what output I'm using? If not I'll need to duplicate every patch, 1 version for amped and 1 version for mixer.

How to load amps in DT25?

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to load amps in the DT25? I have the DT25 112 combo, HD500, midi mobilizer, Ipad, laptop. I understand the linking of the HD500 and the DT25 and working them together but I would like to just choose and add amps to the DT25. Maybe 4 clean amps in channel A and 4 dirty amps in channel B to use as a stand alone amp.

    Some Advice On Dt25 Please...

Hi everyone, I’d be grateful for a bit of advice about the DT25. At the moment I'm running an HD500 through an old Trademark 30 and then using the Trademark’s XLR out to go to the house PA. Sometimes I use a Variax 700 electric (great guitar, by the way), sometimes a Tele or a Strat. Over the last month or the Trademark has been playing up a bit, getting really noisy for a bit and then going back to its normal quiet operation - I fear it may be on its way out and as I bought it second hand at a good price and have played it for about 5 years, I'm ok with that. So I'm in the market for a tube amp. Here are my requirements: - reasonably low wattage - must have XLR out - must have effects loop So there are quite a few amps that would fit the bill, but I feel I'm settling on either a DT25 combo or a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 combo. The Tubemeister has 2 channels, buit-in reverb, XLR out and you can attenuate it down to 5 or even 1 watt operation. The DT25 looks interesting because of the integration with my HD500 via L6 link - it also meets my criteria. So I'm looking for a bit of advice… I've played guitar for over 30 years now, some of the time as a semi-pro, but at present mostly play in a church worship band which in spite of a fairly loud acoustic drummer doesn't need much on-stage volume. My concern with the DT25 is that it might be difficult to get the tubes working at low to medium volumes - if the sound at low-ish volume is mostly a modelled sound, I think I’d be happier with the Tubemeister attenuated down to 5 watts, and link that to my POD using the effects loop. And the other issue is that I don't really use that many amp sounds, just a mixture of a few clean and mildly-overdriven sounds, so the DT25’s flexibility could be a bit wasted… What do you think, DT25, Tubemeister or maybe another solution I haven't considered? Any thoughts on the quality of sound from the XLR out to a PA? I'm not into mic'ing amps any more... Thanks in advance!
  10. Hey guys! I am contemplating selling my DT25 combo and HD500x for a Helix, thoughts? I also have a JTV 59, if that influences the decision.

Dual Amp mode (HD500) with DT-25

OK, I'm new to using dual amps in the HD500 with a single DT-25. When I enable two amps, the tone of the first amp DRASTICALLY changes, even if I haven't even selected another amp yet (the bottom amp is darkened and reads "disabled"). What happened to my sweet tone?
  12. Recently I hooked up the Helix to a DT25 amp using the L6 Link, and I've lost the ability to select topology in Channel A, thus rendering it useless. It currently has no topology light on it to select. No matter what preset I select on the Helix (template, factory or user), I can't get Channel A to activate. Any suggestions on how to recover?
  13. Hey friends! I've restarted that epic quest for the right tone. Previously I had loved the AC30, particularly for its wonderful overdrive (I'd use a boost/compressor for juice, no overdrive pedal needed), but its clean tone was not warm enough. So I experimented and fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote). I started experimenting with overdrive pedals but nothing compares to the AC30's natural drive tone. Anyone have any suggestions? Alternative amp models with a warm, full clean and a warm but tight, crunchy overdrive? Distortion pedals that actually sound good (not fuzzy or farty)? Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Air travel with the DT25 head

I just bought one of these bad boys online and my dad is bringing it to me. I also bought the speaker cabinet. The cabinet will be checked in with the original packaging for protection. Not sure what to do about the head. Can some of you please chime in? Are the tubes easy to remove and put back in?. These are my options as I see it: 1 - We could take the head out of its box and put it in a carry on suitcase. 2 - Same as 1 but removing the tubes 3 - Check it in with the cabinet 4 - Same as 3 but removing the tubes Shipping the unit directly to me is not an option as I'm currently living overseas and the cost is enormous. Thanks everybody!
  15. Seeking input from other Line 6 users. I bought a POD HD500X unit a few months ago and liked it so much that I went ahead and ordered a DT25 head with cabinet. Always wanted to own a tube amp. Do you all think that the current line of floor boards (helix for example) will offer the same level of functionality as the POD.? Again I know that only Line 6 people know the answer so I'm just looking for thoughts on this matter. I guess there is always MIDI but from what I read the L6 Link is much easier. If there is no additional functionality for the DTs to come for the new boards would you all be happy with your DT25...does it stand on its own as an amp without the L6 link stuff? Happy rockin' new year everybody.

    form dt25 to the l2m

took the plunge and bought a L2M today. Together with a good 110 ohm XLR cable. Connected the Helix via the Line 6 link and am very dissapointed. I must be doing something wrong. The digital clipping is back on the mandarin and brittish amps. All the others are sounding harsh and far away from all the sounds I am hearing from other Helix users. Bought the Glenn delaunne patches and only the 5150 patch is comming a bit nearer but is still souding like a cheap transistor amp My POD 500x and the DT25 amp sounding much better. This combination helix/l2m should at a minimum sound the same So, what am I doing wrong? (FW loaded again, stock patches via the headphone OK, NOK with the lm2) Someone having an idea? I am running out....
  17. Hi Guys, I wrote hoping someone can answer my question. I have a DT25 combo that i bought 2nd hand, I had to replace the stock power tubes and put a pair of JJ. I don't remember how it was before because there was a considerable amount since I played on that amp... Well, Class A mode sound louder (huge difference) than Class A/B (and it supposed that A/B are 25 watts and A 10). Anyone as any idea that what could happened? Class A/B mode sounds loud as I remember class A/B mode, but brighter... and class A/B almost a 1/3 lower than A at the same volume... I think that is not right... but I don't remember which mode sounded louder before... Suggestions? Sorry if I wrote something wrong, English isn´t my primary language. I'm from Chile. Thanks!
  18. I had the strangest thing happening to me today. I went to my band rehearsal and after playing for about 30 minutes the display screen kept jumping from the signal chain to the knob display as if I was a adjust a knob on the HD500X. I'm connected to my DT25 via the L6 link and my JTV via the VDI cable. I had previously been using this set up with my HD500 for at least a year and had no issue. I even used this same setup and cords 3 weeks ago without issue. If I disconnect the L6 link it's fine (of course I have no sound though.) When I the screen changes it actually shows that he Mid has been turned all the way up. I can move it back and then when the screen flashes it has moved back to 99%. This happens across the board on the patches. I even swapped out cords and same thing. Now the venue makes me a a custom snake that has my power supply extened, 1/4" and L6 cable loomed to together as one cord. I'm 99% sure it's a regular XLR they used. But I've gotten by for 2 years with it and one show with the HD500X. I have an AES/EBU cable somewhere so I'm going to try that and hope it works. If anyone has had anything simlar and has fixed it with some sort of hard boot or firmware upgrade/reload please let me know. I have 3 gigs this weekend and I need to come up with a plan B if swapping the cord for AES/EBU doesn't solve it. I practiced all day today with just the HD hooked up to my PC so I definitely know it has something to do with the Link. And yes I tried numerous times of turning both the amp and pod off and on again. Thank you, Dave
  19. I saw some older posts talking about various cables for the Line 6 link. I was wondering if there was any newer info on this. I am currently using a cheap Hosa EBU-010 AES/EBU Digital Audio Cable. I don't have any problems with it, but every time I look at how thin it is, I wonder if using something higher end, such as Mogami Gold AES would work better. Anyone try some of the various higher end cables? Thanks.
  20. So I've noticed over the past year or two companies like Mesa boogie and Rivera are making load boxes/attenuators with cab simulators so you can use a non-digital amp, and record direct. Some of the recordings are ok, and some are pretty bad from what I've heard. I pretty much do the same thing with my DT25 and sounds pretty great imho. I have the non cab sim version of the RockCrusher. I squash the signal to my cab all the way down to nothing so I don't annoy my neighbors, and this way I can use the tubes on my DT25 to record direct using the direct out on my head. I don't have any clips just yet to upload, but I feel that it really gives it that extra crispness and punch that you don't quite get in Standby mode where it bypasses the tubes. It really makes a big difference! Hope to have some examples in the next few weeks if I don't get too busy at work. So my question for you all is, do you think Line6 would ever make an attenuator/load box with just cab sims? I mean they have way more extensive knowledge on creating them over these other companies so I'm sure they could do a much much better job, or do you think the market just isn't big enough for it yet? I honestly think more and more people will be using them in the future, because after experimenting with it myself I think a hybrid digit/tube setup for direct recording is pretty damn great!

  23. hi, I've just bought a DT25 and an HD500X. Both things are amazing, but I absolutely love the "Voicing IV modern high-gain" that comes with my DT25. However, I haven't been able to get the same sound when I plug the HD500X into my DT25. In other words, the amp by itself seems to sound better than the HD500X + the amp. Which is the amp that this Voicing IV on my DT25 is based on? I've been able to replicate the other 3 voicings (so, the HD500X + DT25 sounds almost identical to the DT25 sounds), but I can't find anything similar to Voicing IV (Bogner Uber pre is the most similar thing I've found, but I still prefer the DT25 original voicing). I'm using the HD500X Line6 link with an XLR AES/EBU (as recommended). All the amps in the HD500X are in "PRE" position, too. Can anybody help me, pls? Thanks
  24. I'm very pleased to announce that I was able to snag a DT25 head, open box (level 1-mint) from MF yesterday for the stupidly fantastic price of $396. Now that I've basically learned how to get what I want from my DT50 and HD500, I can't wait for the DT25. I know it's got less noise floor, which is important to me as I practice in my basement, and the lower power will help with that too. I'm thinking I've totally got the best of both dreamworlds now, cuz the DT25 will handle most situations but I'll still have the big guy when I need him. It's crazy what good deals can be had right now on the DT's. I've been checking the internet furiously ever since the selloff began, and FINALLY got the best I could hope for! As I understand it, the DT25 will come back from hiatus but not the DT50. A year's time from now, even 6 months from now, you won't find a lot of people willing to give up any DT model not in production. And if Helix is any indication, any new amps would be solid state or VERY SPENDY or both. Rock on DT25! Rock on DT50!

Wow the DT25 combo is loud!

For those of you who are/were worried that the dt25 would not be enough for practice or shows.. Do not fear. I had it just under half way and it cut through everything. The tone is great and it has plenty of umph. I probably will still get a cab for it. Oh and also its still pretty heavy to lug around. i will either put casters on it or i will just carry my portable hand truck with me. Just wanted to throw that out there.
