  1. I'm very pleased to announce that I was able to snag a DT25 head, open box (level 1-mint) from MF yesterday for the stupidly fantastic price of $396. Now that I've basically learned how to get what I want from my DT50 and HD500, I can't wait for the DT25. I know it's got less noise floor, which is important to me as I practice in my basement, and the lower power will help with that too. I'm thinking I've totally got the best of both dreamworlds now, cuz the DT25 will handle most situations but I'll still have the big guy when I need him. It's crazy what good deals can be had right now on the DT's. I've been checking the internet furiously ever since the selloff began, and FINALLY got the best I could hope for! As I understand it, the DT25 will come back from hiatus but not the DT50. A year's time from now, even 6 months from now, you won't find a lot of people willing to give up any DT model not in production. And if Helix is any indication, any new amps would be solid state or VERY SPENDY or both. Rock on DT25! Rock on DT50!
  2. For those of you who are/were worried that the dt25 would not be enough for practice or shows.. Do not fear. I had it just under half way and it cut through everything. The tone is great and it has plenty of umph. I probably will still get a cab for it. Oh and also its still pretty heavy to lug around. i will either put casters on it or i will just carry my portable hand truck with me. Just wanted to throw that out there.
  3. So i have been trying to decide on the dt25 combo or head with a cab. I think i have decided to go with the combo. Should i just get the 1x12 ext. cab or is there something else people are using that are really happy with? I read something about a 2x12 marshall cab but not sure i want to pay that much for the cab. I was thinking the combo with the 1x12 ext cab, but unsure.
  4. I currently own a DT25 combo and a Pod HD500X which I have connected via the Line6 Link cable. I am thinking of recording some music but the Dt25 is way too loud for my bedroom therefore I cannot mic it in high volume. Of course, if I do not crank it up, I would not get the sound I would want. The LVM is not enough for quality sound since it eliminates the power amp section of the amp. I was thinking of investing on an audio interface like the UX2 to record my music. My plan is to connect my amp to the audio interface through the Direct Out of the amp. If I follow this approach, I could disconnect the amp's connection with its cabinet so I wouldn't get any sound from the amp itself but I would get my sound from the monitors connected to the UX2. So if I have the amp's master volume amp cranked all the way up, I could adjust the volume from on my UX2 according to how I want but my recordings should sound as if it's coming from a cranked tube amp. Essentially, I would like to get the sound of a cranked tube amp sound in my recordings without disturbing my neighbors. Do you think this is a viable approach?
  5. Ok so basically i think i have decided to not pick up a DT50 even though i have found a few used ones for really good prices. The weight of the thing is basically whats making me shy away. I am not a pro and i will probably not make much money if any playing around. So with that being said i am thinking that the DT25 combo and a ext cab should be enough for practice, playing at home, and small venues. Thoughts? Also i should not even consider an Amplifi right?
  6. I am thinking about getting back into the gigging business, playing around with people and doing a few shows here and there. Is the dt25 for me? Also right now i have a Marshall JCM900 i think i am going to sale it in order to fund my dt25 venture. Thoughts? Also combo vs head. My thought are i can get the combo which is cheaper currently and add another cabinet if i need to. I was thinking about keep my Marshall 4x12 for this purpose. Is the DT25 a) going to be loud enough or should i go with the head?
  7. Before I describe my problem, I want to point out that I have read about latency and popping on the DT50 when changing topologies. I think my problem is more severe than normal, and I have done my best to describe the issue and how to reproduce it clearly below. Products involved: POD HD500 w/Firmware 2.1 connected to DT50 1x12 Combo w/Firmware 2.0 via L6 Link. The POD and DT50 were both set to factory settings and presets. I recently purchased a used DT50 and connected it to my HD500 that I purchased new years ago after I update the firmware on both. When changing presets on my HD500, I hear significant, sometimes severe, pops on the DT50. If anyone would like to attempt to reproduce my problem and give me feedback on their results, it would be a huge help. Specifically, when I change from the factory preset of 6A - Mysterious Wei under the Songs / Style bank to 6B - Plugged In Baby under the Songs / Style bank, the amp makes one loud pop and a second smaller pop and the sound cuts out for a second or more. This problem is extremely noticeable because of the loud pops combined with no guitar sound. I know part of this is from a topology change and a class A to AB change, but this is far more severe than anything I would expect from reading the forums previously. My questions for the forums regarding this issue: Can anyone reproduce this problem with a DT50 known to be in good working order with good tubes and an HD500 connected using the same preset change I mentioned above? Any suggestions to minimize this issue? Is there a problem with my DT50? Is this a sign of worn tubes that need replaced? Is this considered normal operation for the DT50, or does it need looked at by a technician? Finally, if anyone out there has a DT25, would you mind trying to reproduce this on your DT25 and reporting your experience? I have read that the DT25 is much better with switching than the DT50. I greatly appreciate assistance. If needed, I will try to post a sound clip of the problem, but I will not be able to do that until Friday or Saturday. This is my first tube amp I've ever owned after many years of playing guitar. I enjoy the sound so much that I hope I can find a solution to minimize this issue. Thanks, Baoh
  8. Has anyone experienced this issue? I have a HD500X patch using one Bomber Uber preamp with no cab and a few effects. Sometimes, after playing for a few minutes, the sound from my DT amps get extremely muffled and extremely quiet only when using this specific patch. The following behavior seems odd: If I switch to a different patch that uses a different amp model, the rig sounds 100% normal. Then... when I switch back to the "problem" patch it also sounds 100% normal... for a while until the problem happens again IF the problem happens again. The problem sometimes appears, sometimes not, it's not consistent. My setup: Variax or regular guitar - HD500X - L6 link - DT25 combo #1 - L6 link - DT25 combo #2, both amps running in low volume mode. If I plug directly into either combo amp and disregard the HD500X entirely, the amps work A-OK and sound great. Just curious if anyone else has stumbled across this, perhaps on other amp (or preamp) models? I don't have my rig nearby right now, but the one thing I remember changing in the patch that might affect the DT25's was that I selected Topology IV instead of the Uber's default Topology III. I don't think that should matter, just thought that info might help. Thanks!
  9. Hey there. About to buy a used DT25, but not sure about the control POD. Like to use all this for practice and hopefully on stage once I'm familiar w it. Currently I use a VETTA HD. I also do not know much about MIDI. So please apologize any stupid kind of questions. ;.-)) 1. Most tutorials talk about a setup w the HD500 only - but this is too expensive for me. I understand you can control the amp in the same way w an HD300 ? Just w less memory resp. channels/presets for storing ? Or would there anything not available w HD300 vs. HD500 ? 2. Can I use only the effects of the HD300 w the pure sound of the amp ? 3. Dto. w no cabinet modelling ? 4. Is there a control over the effect routing ? Meaning Delay, Reverb, Modulation in serial/parallel effects loop between pre- and power-tube amp. But the boosters in front of the pre-amp ? 6. Dto. reg. the volume pedal ? Before pre-amp (for overdrive control) vs. after pre-amp for master resp. channel volume control ? 5. The HD300 is also able to control two DT amps like the HD500 ? 6. Read a lot about software verions upgrades to 2.x What would be the benefit ? 7. How can it be upgraded ? Via Windows PC ? And you would need a MIDI interface at the PC ? 8. Is it possible to have the same amp controls w a std. MIDI pedal where you can save settings and recall them ? Lots of questions. Sorry. ;-)) If I completely miss or mix the principals of the amp, I'm sorry, but let me know then as well. Many THX and Cheers from Munich, Germany. Gerhard.
  10. Hello, Has anyone already setup the DT25 to sound correctly with the Acoustic sounds of the Variax, through a POD HD500 ? Simple question though complicated to get it working coorectly for me. I own L2M's & L3M's but they are used by the band for the overall set, therefore, I am eager to get this set working with my Amp only. Easier to carry also during rehearsals... Thanks for the help, Alain
  11. I just got my DT25 head today. I have already flashed it to 2.0 and started editing using the DTEdit. Cool! Right now, I'm running the DT head alone (no pod hd) into a 1x12 cabinet with a Scumback M75 speaker. This speaker is really special! Think of the best high powered old school greenback... So, I'm finding that, when editing the different cab models, they do add their own bit of flavor to the tone. But, since I'm not using the proprietary DT25 112 cab with the G12H90 speaker, I'm wondering if I should turn the cabs all off and use my speaker or add some flavor? What have been your experiences using different speakers and the cab modeling options on the DT25?
  12. My setup: JTV59 > VDI > HD500 > L6 LINK > DT25 combo I have had all components for some time now but not always using all together so the DT25 has not been heavily used or gigged much at all. I have not noticed this before - so thought I would ask on the forum just for a sanity check - it may be normal and I have just not noticed it before. Now - whenever I pick an HD500 pre amp model that uses the DT25 in mode III, CLASS A, PENTODE, such as the AC15 or AC30 models - the unit produces a much louder hum and background hiss than in any of the other combinations or with models that you may think would be noisier such as the Marshall models. This is with the DRIVE level set well below 50% for a clean sound. I tried placing a noise gate at the beginning and end of my chain with aggressive settings on the HD500 and it made no difference. Even tried turning the MASTER down on the HD500 and no difference. Lovely loud hum and background hiss. Switch to other configurations and it's much much quieter. So - is this normal? Or is my DT25 or my dream rig set up playing up? Thanks in advance for responses to my sanity check! :)
  13. Hello everyone, I bought a new DT25 stack today, and I need to get a footswitch. Before posting I searched the forum and saw several posts saying "any two button footswitch will do", but I also read posts that people had issues with their two button switch, so . . . Does Line 6 make a footswitch for this amp? (please don't answer with HD-500, that may be a next step, but I'm not there yet :) If not, what switches do you guys use successfully? What do you recommend (make/model)? Thanks, I appreciate the help! Dennis
  14. I bought the DT25 head a few days ago, for the sole purpose of playing in church where I intended to use the Cabinet Simulated Output (Direct Out) straight to the PA. We're going to an In-Ear Monitor system and want to eliminate all speaker amps from the stage. I thought the DT25 would be perfect since it's still a FULL TUBE amp with no speakers that I can control from my POD HD500X. However after connecting via the POD via the L6 link and then the Direct Out to a recording audio interface (Presonus Firepod), I realized the Direct Out is only usable in "Low Volume Mode." Come to find out when using this configuration I'm only using the amp Pre-Amp section and not the power section of the amp. So my question is am I really gaining anything by using the DT25? I was just plugging my POD HD 500X straight into the PA and getting decent sounds. I thought getting the DT25 would step it up a notch, but if I'm not using the Power Section of the amp I don't know if I'm really gaining anything. Anyone that can chime in would be helpful!! Thanks
  15. Hi all, I know there has been plenty written by us customers about having a schematic of the routing through the "dream rig" and I can somewhat understand why that is difficult for Line6 to do, because there is so much software configurability and DSP areas in the process, it is almost like asking how long is a piece of string... However, I am looking into DT25 for my GIG rig and I am currently confused about how/where "post amp block" effects sit within the signal chain, bearing in mind a specific configuration... (as below) HD POD config looks like... Pre Section - Split path section - mixer block - post section - outputs (generic pod setup) for this discussion lets say it is effectively a mono path, so lets not talk about "panning or stereo" and so on... just keeping it "simple".. in the pre section is FX1 in the Split path (path a) i have FX2 followed by an AMP block (amp configured as a Pre version of the amp) in post section i have FX3. if I then set the "Audio Configuration" for the DT25 to be LEFT... then from the documents I understand it gets fed the signal from the end of the POD chain into the real POWER AMP (with topology/class etc. as configured by the pre amp specifics)... (I also understand that if I set the Audio Configuration to AMP A... the signal would go straight after the amp block to the power amp, and miss out the POST section and MIXER completely...(and incidently any FX placed after the amp block...) MY REAL QUESTION... is it possible to use the DT25 as the pre amp modeller and real power amp AND get the same FX placement (without using the 4CM)? e.g. POD config FX1 - FX2 - blank amp block - FX3 audio path would have to be POD(FX1 - FX2) - > DT25 preamp -> POD (FX3) -> DT25 power amp - DT25 reverb... another side question is does the audio ever "go back to the POD from the DT25..." im guessing not, and if so my answer to my real question is... it's not possible... Interested in anyones thoughts.
  16. My DT25 head has started blowing the tube protection fuse. This happens shortly after i turn it on. I have noticed the following before it happens: 1. I turn on the amp. 2. wait for a minute or two. 3. The amp starts making crackeling noice and one of the power tubes starts glowing brightly (like it has a hot spot all orange) If I don but it in standby at this spot, then the fuse blows. Do I have a faulty amp or do I just need to replace the power tubes ? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  17. As I think I've mentioned elsewhere, I have a JTV59 plus a POD HD500 which I play through a pair of Tech 21 Power Engines. I was just watching a knowledge base video where Sean Halley had this setup: JTV69 -> POD HD500 (via VDI cable) -> DT25 (via L6 Link) and also had the left/right XLR run into a pair of mic pres and then into Pro Tools. This got me to thinking again that if I were to get a DT25 amp, this would be where my electric guitar was played through via the Line 6 Link capabilites. I would use the DT25 as my stage monito, and take the XLR Cabinet Simulated output to the FOH. I could ALSO connect the XLR outs to the FOH for acoustic tones and maybe even select electric tones if they sounded better. Do I have this right in my head, or is there a major flaw in my thinking BEFORE I pull the trigger on the DT25?

    Line 6 Link

Just curious if anyone knows what the longest XLR cable you can use for a Line 6 Link connection without risking signal degredation or other problems?
  19. Hi to all , I just purchased a DT25 head and I am trying to connect it to Monkey to see what firmware I have. I first tried using a cheap Chinese ebay cable and I was getting no lights on the midi side. I went out today and bought a hosa midi to usb converter and I am having the same issue. No lights on the Midi side, just on the usb side. I connected Midi in of converter to Midi out on the amp and vice versa for the Out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
  20. Sorry if this has been asked before but I wouldn't know how to start searching for the answer. I have just purchased a "dream rig" consisting of a DT25, HD500x & a JTV69. I have watched several line6 videos about creating patches but they all sound different out of my amp because I'm not sure what settings to have the amp on. I don't have the line6 cable for connecting the HD500x to the DT25 so how do I know which amp model to have selected on the amp. Obviously, having the wrong amp and settings selected defeats the object of the patch. If you have the line 6 connector, do you have to tell the editor all the amp settings so it selects them every time or does it switch the DT25 settings out and use the amp models settings. This probably sounds like mumbo jumbo but I am very confused! Do you have to buy a expensive line6 cable or will any microphone lead do? thanks in advance for any advice
  21. Last night, I was tinkering around with my old TonePort UX2 and started remembering some of the amp models that I really liked about the X3 line. One in particular I always liked was the Matchless DC-30 model. I would love to have that one for my HD500+DT25. It sounds really good running through the Greenback cabinet model with an SM-57 mic. It has really nice breakup and cleans up nice when rolling off of the guitar volume. Since I can't afford a real Matchless amp, I would love to have that pre-amp model in my HD500 to run through my DT25. That would be sweet!
  22. I have a weird situation. I'll be playing my JTV-69 through L6Link to HD500X through L6Link to DT25 112 and after an random amount of time the HD500X will switch to the amp parameter edit screen and the amp will go silent. All pieces are still operating, and if you change the HD500X to another bank the sound comes back. Thoughts?
  23. Hello all, I just created a new acoustic patch for my DT25/HD500 setup. I borrowed from the "Wide Acoustic" patch included in the HD500. Made some changes and think it sounds pretty good. Check it out and let me know what you think. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/271639/
  24. Hey there everyone, Just acquired a DT25 (actually a pair of them) to complete our dream rig and are attempting to implement the DT25's. The DT's will replace a pair of venerable old (and thoroughly road-tested) Tech 21 PE60's. They will be used for stage volume and our plan is to tap the XLR direct out on the DT25's to go to the FOH console, just like we've been doing via the PE60's. We are hoping for a stage volume output that IS the same as we send to the FOH - in the PE60's, it's "pretty" close, but it's not the same. Our gear and our plan: We have 2 JTV59's (a Korean and a USA), two POD HD's (an HD500 and a HD Pro) and now the two DT25's. Our plan is to facilitate either a single dream rig with stereo-DT25's, or two separate one-amp-DT25 dream rigs - depending on the performance requirements. We're just getting started on the full Dream Rig setup (although we've been using the JTV's and the POD HD's for a while with the PE60's) - so, apologies in advance for what will probably seem like easy questions for you experienced Dream Rig guys. Situation: In following the manual for connecting the HD500 to the DT25 via L6 Link, we noticed that the suggested amp model is the PRE version, rather than the full version. Question1: What is the difference in the PRE amp model and the full amp - we have never used the PRE models for anything.... But we've never had the DT25's until now. Question 2: We will need to tap the direct-out of the DT25 and route it to the FOH console - same as we've doing on the PE60's. If we use a PRE model as the manual suggests, will the signal tapped from the back of the amp (XLR direct out) be fully-baked with the amp model, effects, etc. - or is it something more akin to a dry signal? We do need the fully-baked signal. Question 3: We didn't have access to AES/EBU cables last night when we connected the DT25's to the HD500 and used Prolink Mic cables instead. Amp A seemed to be getting all the right settings, but Amp B wasn't responding to topology changes sent via the HD500. We reversed the amp order and also tried different cables to make sure it wasn't a bad cable, or something wrong with the amp - but the result was the same. Question: Is this the type of glitch that causes Line 6 to recommend AEX/EBU cables rather than standard (albeit high quality) mic cables? Thanks in advance for helping us out here. Bradley
