  1. I have updated the firmware 2.0 for DT50 and installled the controll app on my Ipad. I am now able to modify the pre amp, cabs and reverb on my DT50. It works perfectly on channel A. But on Channel B I can only select the pre-amp. It does not react to cab, reverb or mic selection at all. I have the same problem on my DT25. Has anyone experienced the same. And more importantlynis there a solution?
  2. Please, please Line6; make a video on how to set properly the HD500 as a midi controller for Dt amp series!!! This thing is drive me CRAZY!!! I want to be able to save other paramethers (mic or cab type)...the manual (midi implementation guide) it s not easy to understand... for now i can only send midi message on channel one? I am a bit confusing....sorry
  3. Hi My Name is Don I'm a Line6aholic Help Me, I'm addicted to Line 6 and the buy it now button at American musical and zzounds.com and it doesn't help that they both offer the payment plan that makes it even worse. It all started way back with the first flextone, I fell in love with it. I thought it was the best amp I ever played out of. Then I moved on to the flextone 3 and thought I would never buy another amp again. But of course Line 6 had to put out the DT50. So what did I do? you guessed it... Then I had to get the HD500 oh and don't forget the JTV69s to complete my dream rig. Now you would think I would stop there but noooo... I bought the Relay g30 wireless for all my other guitars, "don't get me started there"... well now that I had the dream rig I figured what the hell I need a new PA so what did I do buy it now, buy it now, and of course buy it now. Had to get the L3T just to see if that would work for my dream rig plus vocals and acoustic but is one enough? Two is always better. You know where it goes from here the Stagescape M20d now I have the dream stage although I haven't sprung for the subwoofers yet , crap why did I bring that up... Now my new addition is the HD Pro X. Now it's like I'm waiting with bated breath to get the next email from Line 6 telling me about the next addition to my Line 6 inventory. I do love Line 6 and it never lets me down, it gets better and better all the time... Thanks Line 6
  4. Love my gear! Wish there was a dedicated Dream Rig forum. But I don't think this is a dream rig specific observation and question. Every time I go to crank up my rig (Dt50 2x12, HD500, JTV 69), I hold my breath. Sometimes it works straight away. I plug in, strum a chord and Booya!!! I'm rockin the house! Other times, no joy! no sound until I turn everything off and restart it all. Sometimes the topologies start switching randomly on the DT until I turn turn everything off and restart. Sometimes the Pod turns off and restarts on its own. Loud pops every now and then, and other silly, tweaky random stuff The vast majority of time, I've got no problems, but always in the back of my mind, i am waiting nervously for the day that the reboot doesn't work at all. Worst is, what happens if it happens at a gig! That would get me to cussin' loud and mean! Does anyone else experience this type tweaky stuff with the DT+HD combo? Why do it do what it do? Something to be said for plugging one guitar via one cable into one amp! Never had a problem doing that! Worked every time!!! Thoughts? Contributions?
  5. Hey Guys, I've been searching high and low for a proper step by step, instructional kinda video/manual, for biasing the tube power section for the Line 6 DT50, but to no avail. I think it's high time, the forum have something like this in place so we can do the maintenance ourselves. Last i check, it cost nearly the price of a single tube to send it to the amp tech for biasing... :-( Hope any guru out there can help? =)
  6. I've read that the pre-amps in HD500 are the best to use with DT50 and DT25, so I've put a setlist together with all of the pres as a baseline for my patch creation. The problem I encountered was that the volumes varied WILDLY and I kept blowing up my ears going from the quietest amp (Hiway-100 apparently) and a Treadplate for example. Of course one amp is louder than the other, but for home use, or testing, having these patches be leveled is a must So I've gone through and leveled out (with the MIXER setting) all 30 of the pre amps to be very roughly the same loudness. There is definitely some variance. If anyone cares to correct them more properly, please do so and post the update. In this setlist, Hiway-100 is the quietest amp- I have the db setting on the mixer maxed, so I used that setting as the baseline for loudness of all the other amps. Very unscientific, but now I don't get ringing ears if I'm switching between. Hope this helps. DT25 30 pre-Amps-leveled.zip
  7. i have hd500 + dt50 + epiphone custo, ( les paul ) What is most authentic plexi sound on hd500 + dt50? Brit j-45 Plexi Lead 100 Brit P-75 i like this sound ?
  8. Ok - just can't get this thing to work with the hd. I rarely get to use any volume so only get to try a couple things here and there. Trying to do the 'Dream rig' thing. Here is the status... No POD, guitar in. Low power mode. Chans A & B sound OK in various settings. No POD, guitar in. Normal power mode. Chans A & B sound OK in various settings. POD, variax in, Chan B (bypass ?) sounds fine. Chan A (POD pre amp) = OMFG WHY ARE YOU KILLING ME WITH THIS VOLUME THAT IS ABOUT A GAZILLION TIMES LOUDER, BRIGHTER, AND CLEANER THAN JUST USING THE DT AS IS????!!! I swear I think its going to shatter my ribcage. I've read people stating that the pod doesn't sound quite like the 50, but that is not my concern. I just want it to sound like a usable amp in some way and not a sonic death ray. All components have the latest update. Work fine on their own. POD is setting itself to combo out when connected. Connections are done via VDI & L6 Link. Any help as to what the heck I am doing wrong?
  9. Hey all! I've been using a Vetta I amp for about the last 10 years, but I've come to a crossroad with it. The main display screen doesn't work any more (can't edit patches!) and over time an annoying hum has devolped when the amp is on(nothing plugged in). So at this point I can either pay to have a tech look it over/ fix it or spend that money on a new rig. My question is to anyone with experience using a Vetta. Do you feel that a DT50/HD 500 set up is a significant improvement? Do the effects/distortions/reverbs/etc sound better (less digital?) I'm hoping to crap my pants at the difference! I haven't personally demoed either, but I'm thinking of getting them from somewhere with a good return policy as I know a store testdrive isn't enough time to really get a feel for these things. Also, am I correct in thinking that 50w tube amp is equivilant in volume to a 100w solidstate amp? Convince me to drop $1800! ;)
  10. I brought my amp to service after receiving the notification for the Technical Bulletin 059 from line6. I brought it to King Amplification of Santa Clara, California, and when I went in to try the amp again, the topology 3 of the amp didn't work anymore. They didn't tell me anything about it before I went in and I'm pretty sure they didn't even bother to test the amp when they put it together after the service... they asked me money to diagnose the problem on the spot (you need very, very big balls to ask money to diagnose an amp you just broke). Anyways, anybody knows if servicing the amp could lead to that kind of problem, or what could be the issue? A loose cable, a valve that came off the socket... anything else? If it's something easy to fix I would like to do it myself (I'm an engineer, although I different kind of engineer...). thanks everybody!
  11. In case anyone hasn't noticed, Future Shop has a DT50 head listed under 'Clearance'. $699. Last one. Somebody do me a favour and snap it up before I somehow convince myself I need a second DT head (because I really, truly don't).
  12. La version française. Zur deutschen Version. With the latest v2.0 update for the DT25/DT50 amplifiers, you must send MIDI parameters to the amp to change the settings such as the preamp models. Here are the links to the MIDI documentation to reference when programming your MIDI gear to send the proper parameters to control the settings of the DT series amplifiers: http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT50_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT25_MIDI_CC_Reference_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf http://line6.com/media/dt50/DT_MIDIGuide_v2_0_RevA_English.pdf Using the POD HD500/HD500x to Send MIDI Parameters to the DT amplifiers You can use the POD HD500 as a MIDI controller to send MIDI CC parameters to change. Just connect the MIDI OUT from the POD HD500/HD500x to the MIDI IN on the DT amplifier with a MIDI cable. Then, go in the POD HD500/HD500x's MIDI assign screen (by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds) to assign a footswitch to send the desired MIDI parameters to change the settings on the DT amplifier. From here, you need to reference the DT amplifier's MIDI CC reference charts above to assign the proper MIDI CC to a footswitch on the POD HD500/HD500x. For example, on the DT50 amplifiers, sending MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 0-30 will change the assigned HD amp model set to any one of the voicings on Channel A of the DT50. So, if you want to change Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model instead, do the following: On any preset (blank or not) on the POD, go to the POD's MIDI Assign screen by holding the MOVE button for a few seconds. We suggest doing this on a blank new preset so that you can use this preset to send these MIDI messages to your DT amplifier. Let's assign Footswitch 1 (FS1) to send MIDI CC# 11 with a value of 003. Press on FS1 so that the arrow is pointing to it in the POD's screen. Turn Knob 1 to select MIDI CH: Base. Turn Knob 2 to select Message: CC. Turn Knob 3 to select CC# 011. Turn Knob 4 to select Value: 003. You can exit the MIDI Assign screen by pressing the View button once. Now, by simply pressing the FS1 footswitch, you will be sending MIDI CC# 11 value 003 to the DT50 amp which will change the Voicing I of Channel A on the DT50 amp from the original Fender Blackface to be a Hiway 100 amp model. Press the Save button once, rename the preset with the knobs below the screen, then press the Save button once again to store these settings to the POD's preset. MIDI CC#11 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel A of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. MIDI CC#12 value 0-30 will change the HD amp model on Channel B of the selected voicing on the DT25/DT50 amp. Here are reference charts for both the DT25 and the DT50 from the MIDI Reference guide to help you set your values when programming MIDI to the switches of the POD HD500/HD500x. MIDI can be assigned to any of the footswitches of the POD HD500/HD500x EXCEPT for the Bank Up and Bank Down switches. Using MIDI OX to send MIDI parameters to the DT amplifiers You can also use MIDI OX software to send the desired MIDI messages to your DT amplifier when using a dedicated MIDI interface connected between your computer set to work with MIDI OX and the DT amplifier's MIDI IN port. In MIDI OX, click on the Send MIDI Controller Messages button to see the following window: You’ll want to use the drop down window to select the desired controller event (as referenced in the documentation above such as MIDI CC# 11 or CC#12, etc.) and then select the value on the right (as in the previous example above, value of 0-30, etc.) then, hit the Send button to send that MIDI message to the DT amplifier. Notice the text by the numbers which are simply part of the standard MIDI spec. These descriptors are irrelevant for the DT amps – again, just look for the number that correlates to the DT parameter you want to send. It also may be confusing that the numbers are not listed sequentially. If you wanted to change the preamp for the current Voicing of channel A you would select number 11 (labeled expression in the MIDI OX drop down) and number 3 (if you wanted to load the Hiway 100 model for example) using the up/down buttons in the field labeled Value. Hit send and the current Voicing on Channel A should be the Hiway 100.
