Here is a quick guide on assigning dual momentary footswitch options to your HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL using the external switch jack: Global Settings > Preferences > Page 2 will show EXP FS Tip and EXP FS Ring. These setting should be assigned to FS4/FS7 and FS5/FS8 accordingly. Next menu item over: Global Settings > Footswitches > FS4(FS7) Function, FS5(FS8) Function assignment on page 2. These can be assigned to different functions such as Stomp buttons OR Preset up and down. HX Stomp Controllers & Snapshots video
  2. Hi everybody ! I am using currently HX Stomp and I really love how simple and dual pitch blocks sound ( which may be strange to some people ). The reason is that they have no noticable latency or pre-delay. I recently compared it to Micro Pog and the Pog had a noticable lag ( compareable to Dual Pitch set with delay option to 20ms). I know that polyphonic pitch shifters is all about latency vs preciseness and I love that not really precise ( when playing chords ) but very fast sound of HX Stomp pitch shifters. I use them only for octaves and only in monophonic way. To the point - I look for a pedal for one of my pedalboards which would be very close to what HX Stomp Dual/Simple pitch sound like. Unfortunaetly I cannot put HX Stomp on my pedalboard due to the space limitations. Do you maybe know what pedal was those pitch shifters based on ? What pedal would be the closest ? I will be really grateful for help because I would die to get that tone on my pedalboard in one single pedal.
  3. My Toneport UX8 has died. I spent a fair amount of money fixing other issues with it recently, so I don't feel it's worth the investment to repair this problem too. So I just bought a Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820 to try out for recording instead. So far it's working well, and has surprisingly low latency options (haven't tested them all though). It's working well at 128 and 256 so far. However, with Pod Farm 2.0 Standalone, I have a few problems with this device: 1) I can only select 1 input channel in File > Preferences > Hardware > Input Channel. With the Toneport I believe I could select 2 inputs for say vocals and bass simultaneously, no? Is this expected behavior when using a non-L6 audio interface with the program - You can only process a single input, even if the interface has more? 2) Every time I restart Pod Farm 2.0 the Input Channel settings resets to Input 1, even though I'm trying to set it up on Input 2 as the default. Guess I'll just have to swap my physical settings since I record guitar most of the time, but that's kind of annoying. 3) Usually when I switch input channels, the output volume of the same patch becomes very loud (into heavy clipping) compared to the identical patch when loaded in Pod Farm VST. Switching presets, and switching back seems to reset it to the expected volume though. 2) Clicking ASIO Settings doesn't open the UMC control panel. Clicking the ASIO configuration in Reaper is able to open it just fine, so it seems to just be an issue with this.
  4. Here is what I am looking for... I'd like to run two amps (one for clean tone, one for dirty tone w/ possible tube screamer), and be able to alternate between the two. Initially, I was thinking of running dual signal path for this, and then setting everything to the same switch (pressing the switch turns on dirty amp mod and tube screamer, and turns off clean amp and vice-versa), but I would need the unused path to be muted. I would assume the other way to do it (in the same patch) would be to run the amps in series. I am running a mono output, so I don't need stereo signals. I'd rather not have to set a different patch (in each block of 4) for each different tone in a song. And I would also be concerned about the delay between switching (the firehawk was a nightmare with this, I didn't keep it long...). I'm new to the PODHD world, and I've only been able to spend a few hours with the HD500x thus far. If anyone can give me good insight into how to set this up, I'd appreciate it. For a little more info, I'll be leaning towards the higher gain amps for my dirty tone (Fireball, Elektrik, etc.), and so far I'm liking the blackface for my cleans. My amp rig is a 6505 on an 212 orange cab with vintage 30s. I love my dirty tone from the amp, but I'm currently just using it as a power-amp to see what the HD can do. I find running it into the effect return on the head sounds much better than the instrument line in on the front.
  5. About 2 weeks ago, I contacted L6 about an issue in Pod Farm 2. When using a dual channel preset with an identical amp, and selecting two different speaker cabinets, there are some phase issues with the cabinet sims. Some combinations are almost 180 degrees out of phase in fact. After talking to L6 about it, they thanked me for the info, but stated they wouldn't be updating Pod Farm 2 with anything to adjust this. As a result, you must record your dual tone as two tracks and use a phase correction plugin to rotate the phase for coherency in some cases, unless the phased sound is what you're going for. In Pod Farm 2 the Digital Delay only goes down to 20 ms, and the channel delay option in the mixer only affects the DI signal, not the signal with effects. So it has to be compensated for externally. An example of this is a patch with an Angel P-Ball (the amp shouldn't matter) with the 4x12 Line 6 cabinet and the 2x12 Class A-30 cabinet, both using a 57 On Axis. Pan them hard left and right. Record a stereo track, then look at the waveform and see that one is pretty much inverted in polarity vs the other. Summing them to mono leaves a very thin and comb filtered sound. A phase rotation plugin can bring back the bass properly. I just purchased a Pod HD500X, and am curious if the same issue applies here... Is there a way to compensate for this in the Pod? Thoughts?
  6. OK, I'm new to using dual amps in the HD500 with a single DT-25. When I enable two amps, the tone of the first amp DRASTICALLY changes, even if I haven't even selected another amp yet (the bottom amp is darkened and reads "disabled"). What happened to my sweet tone?
  7. Hi friends! I've got an HD500 running into one DT25 combo amp. Recently fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm clean tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote)! I haven't found a setting or overdrive pedal to fix this. I've always loved the AC30 overdrive - tight, warm, not farty or fuzzy, but the clean is a bit... sterile. I want the warm clean of the BFx2 but the tight crunchy overdrive of the AC30! I considered using a dual amp mode, but it's confusing which amp is controlling the actual DT25 wiring, and I felt I just got the worst of both worlds. My warm, clean tone from the BFx2 was gone. I welcome any advice for improvements, whether they be the perfect adjustments to the BF-Double to fix the farty overdrive, advice for dual amps with one DT-25, the perfect overdrive pedal (with settings), an alternative to the BFx2 model, or even ditching the HD500 amp models with the perfect DT-25 settings, etc... Thanks!!! Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Looking for more of a Brit crunch, perhaps some U2 like tone (who also uses an AC30). My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
  8. Hi, I've been a BOSS user for the past 10 years, mastering every aspect Of the GT MultiFX line. I'm in the process of transitioning to The HD500x to expand and experiment with the LINE6 workflow. I bought one already but it won't arrive until next week. I would like to know if it's possible to attach a dual footswitch. According to the manual, I can plug an expression pedal into the "pedal 2" jack, but I don't need another one besides the built-in EXP. In the past, I used to plug a BOSS FS6 via TRS cable to the "CTL1,2/EXP" jack of the GT8, allowing me to freely program parameters to either of the footswitch buttons (labeled CTL 1 and 2 in the system). The GT8 allowed me to assign modes: latching or unlatching –to operate as on/off for effects– or min/max for specific parameter jumps. I believe the POD allows similar functionalities with the top row switches; nevertheless, I would want to use the BOSS FS6 with the HD500X. Has anyone done this?
  9. Hey guys new to the forum here hoping you can help out. I have a weird situation with my pod hd500x that has me stumped. I have a patch set up with 2 of the same amp(one top of chain and one directly below it). What I have done is set it to where only one amp is active at a time with the press of a button. (what this is accomplishing for me is adjusting a preset gain on the amp in question by actually switching to a different amp) The problem I am having is once I switch one amp off I get the "dry" bleed through in my live mix. any ideas?? I have a gig this weekend and I would like to figure this out. cheers, shawn

I cant get my head round this: I believe i have the amp outputs (via the mixer) panned both centre (see image) but the chorus effect is ONLY audible on the LEFT XLR out, unless i engage the "dynamics" effect which follows (which i understand sums to mono) then i can hear it on the right-XLR. I have input 2 disabled (set to variax) but changing it to "same as input1" makes no difference. Also inserting a mono-summing effect before the amp does not reveal the chorus effect on the right XLR out. I thought the summing and panning on the mixer (after the amp) would effectively run everything L+R equally. can anyone explain please. thanks
  11. I was trying to build a good dual amp setup with 2 x 5150 and when I tried to cut off some ugly high frequencies with the parametric EQ, the signal got distorted. Is this a bug? Can anyone give me a tip or tell me what am I doing wrong?   12. Hey guys, this is my first post in the forum. Right now I'm using a Gibson Les Paul with my HD500, using headphones. The sound is OK, but I'm looking to buy an amplifier. I'm considering buying a DT25 combo, but before I do, I have a couple questions. 1. Firstly, I have ran out of DSP a lot on my HD500, mainly because I use dual amp configurations. What I am wondering is if I can still use two amp paths with two different (pre) amps modelled on my HD500, and have the DT25 combo output both amps (both paths) in only one speaker (I will be using the combo amp). Another thing that I'd like to know in relation to this is whether or not using the HD500 in conjuncton with the DT25 will free up DSP. I heard that (since the 2.0 update), the DT25 models the pre amp instead of the HD500. Is this true? Will it model both of my pre amps, allowing DSP usage to drop on the HD500? 2. Secondly, I am wondering which cable to purhase to use with L6 link. I understand that Line 6 reccomend an AES/EBU type cable over everything else. However I also see that they recommend a Classic Series Microphone Cable by Planet Waves, which as far as I'm aware doesn't appear to be an AES/EBU type cable. I live in New Zealand, so I cannot purchase brands such as Mogami, in fact the only AES/EBU cable that is stocked in my local store is a HOSA AES/EBU cable.   13. 1st post! Up to now I've managed to survive via the forums and patch downloads for my new HD500X. I play in a 3-piece rock covers band (UK) and have found my new toy (3 months old now) to be certainly up for it when it comes to delivering the sound required to make a small band sound big! I currently run the POD into 2 amps (left to a Marshall, right to a Trace Elliot) to help spread the sound - will be working on the setup through the PA soon but until then this will do. I have downloaded quite a few patches but as yet have not found one that gives that dual-guitar sound with a harmony (octave) so that I can get that Thin Lizzy sound during certain parts of the song. To me, a lot of stuff either sounds really bad OR starts good but then goes squiffy! (maybe I haven't found the right one yet). I have also tried messing about with the patches and settings, and also trying to make my own work but just cannae get it right, captain! Maybe adding more than one harmoniser into a chain would help? If anyone could point me in the direction of some good patches they've found or created, OR even give me a few pointers for creating that harmonised sound I'd appreciate it. Having forked out for this good bit of kit I really don't want to go out and buy an actual harmony pedal. Thanks for any input.
  14. Hi there! I am using POD Farm 2.55 as a Plugin in Sonar X1 64bit With a UX2 as Hardware I've used This Setup for a couple of years now, and never any real problems. Until now... I want to use the Dual channel mode in Podfarm. So I have 2 different tones running at the same time! Sound Great!! although, the track with the podfarm on it keeps "falling out" (wen I bypass Pod farm you get the clean sound of the guitar recording.) So I open Podfarm and you can see the green input meter, so the guitar track is coming in to podfarm. but no output meter. and wen you open the "mixer view" tap in pod farm you can see that the output meters (both tone A and B are stuck. Noting happens, just the green output meter on a certain level.( I experience the problem with the 32bit and the 64bit version of podfarm and Sonar X1 !) The only way to fix it at that moment, is to load the complete tone again, or to go to the "mixer view" tap and switch the Input from right to left of left to right (depends on what its on of course). But when I have done that, and I can hear the guitar again. 2 seconds later it has already fallen out! I tried a couple of things already, I saw that other people experienced this error with Sonar 8 as well. There solution was to turn of the 64/bit Double Precision Engine. but In Sonar X1 it does not seem to do the trick! Can Some one help me out here! I really want to keep using the Dual tone mode because is sound so great! Thanks!
  15. Q: Do all of the POD HD modelers sport dual tone functionality? A: No. Only the POD HD500/500x, Pod HD desktop, and Pod HD Pro/Pro X have the ability to run dual tone configurations.
  16. The POD X3 offers a fun feature that allows you to create patches on Tone 1 and Tone 2 and blend them together or sweep from one patch to another using the expression pedal on the Live. For any musician seeking seamless patch switching, this is the feature for you! Setting up this function is simple: 1) Set the volume on patch 1 at 100% heel, 0% toe (Page 5.16 of the user manual.) 2) Set the volume on patch 2 to the exact opposite, 100% toe, 0% heel. 3) Now rock the pedal back and forth. The pedal will now blend from 100% Patch 1 to 100% Patch 2 and anywhere in between.

Please use the directions below in order to record two inputs from a TonePort/POD Studio UX1/UX2 USB device from POD Farm simultaneously: In POD Farm: Create a dual tone input in POD Farm (i.e. Mic 1 & 2, Line 1 & 2, Inst & Mic, etc). In Your DAW (Recording Application- we will use Ableton Live Lite as our example): Go to "Options/Preferences". Click on "Input Config" at the bottom. Make sure that all of the selections are green in "Input Config" and "Output Config". If they are not, click on them so they appear as green and click OK. Create two audio tracks. On each track you will see "Audio From". Make sure that says "Ext. In". In track one select "1/2". For track two choose "3/4". Now the mic will be recorded on one track and your guitar will be recorded on the other. To arm both tracks for recording, please hold control and then click on the "Arm" button. For more detailed info, please watch the online video at Ableton's website here: http://cdn1.ableton.com/movies/recording_audio.mov For GarageBand: First, ensure that you have a DUAL Tone setup in POD Farm. In the [MIXER] Section of POD Farm, ensure that REC SEND: UX2 1-2 is set to “Tone 1 (Instrument)” and REC SEND: UX2 3-4 is set to “Tone 2 (Microphone 1)”. In GarageBand: Input Source for INST 1 (GarageBand Track) must be set to Stereo 1 / 2 (UX2) Input Source for MIC 1 (GarageBand Track) must be set to: Stereo 3 / 4 (UX2). Now you should be able to record both input sources simultaneously in GarageBand.
