1. Francais Deutsch Q: What is Line 6 Edit? A: Line 6 Edit is a free software application from Line 6 that provides complete editor/librarian features for the following products: POD XT/XTLive/Pro Bass POD XT/XTLive/Pro Vetta II Combo/Head Flextone II/III HD 147 POD 2.0/Pro Note: Vetta II Combo/Head, HD 147, Flextone II/III, POD 2.0/Pro users will need a MIDI interface and cables to use it. We recommend the M-Audio MIDIsport Uno if you do not already have a MIDI to USB device. We recommend installing the MIDI interface drivers directly from the manufacturer's website to ensure you have the latest drivers for your OS. Midisport Uno IMPORTANT: Line 6 Edit is a Java based application, and will run on Macintosh OS X (10.1x-10.5.x) and any Windows OS that can run any version of Java 5 (the latest update is 21). Be aware that using an earlier version of Line 6 Edit will not launch if ANY Java Runtime 6 Environment components are installed. LINE 6 EDIT is available for download here: Software Downloads Line 6 Edit software even translates tones between selected products: Vetta II will be able to use GuitarPort, PODxt, Flextone III, HD 147 or POD 2.0 Tones. Flextone III and HD 147 will be able to use GuitarPort, PODxt or POD 2.0 Tones. PODxt units will be able to use Flextone III, HD 147, POD 2.0 and, of course, GuitarPort Tones. Q: I'm getting an error message saying "Cannot copy to POD XT Live because it is a POD 2.0 tone". A: The way around this is to use Gearbox (free download from http://line6.com/software/) to open the tone once you transfer it from the POD Pro to the tone folder on your computer. With POD Pro connected, transfer all the tones you want to the tones folder on your computer using Edit. Disconnect POD Pro and connect POD XT. Open Gearbox. Open a POD Pro/2.0 tone in Gearbox. Save the tone to your computer in whatever location you want. Close Gearbox and open Edit Locate tone and transfer into POD XT via Sync button Q: I am getting a Java Error when I try to run Line 6 Edit? A: See the following link for resolution: Resolving Java Errors with Line 6 Edit and Workbench Q: How do I set up my Line 6 device using MIDI to connect with Line 6 Edit? 1) Please ensure that you have the interface's latest drivers installed on your computer. We recommend downloading the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website and installing the drivers BEFORE connecting your USB-MIDI interface. Consult the manufacturer's website for the correct installation and troubleshooting procedures to ensure your drivers are installed correctly. 2) Connect your Line 6 device to the MIDI Interface, making sure the cables are connected correctly. Traditional MIDI connections will have the Line 6 device MIDI IN to interface MIDI OUT, and the Line 6 device MIDI OUT to interface MIDI IN. The MIDIsport Uno will be labeled "to MIDI in" and "to MIDI out". 3) Turn your Line 6 device ON, then open Line 6 Edit. We will use a Vetta II head for these screen examples: 4) If your unit is not being recognized by your computer, select "configure": 5) In the MIDI devices window, select "add": 6) Under the MIDI in port, select your USB to MIDI device: 7) Under the MIDI out port, select your USB to MIDI device: 8) You can leave the device window in "auto detect" or choose the device you plan to use. Once this is completed, select "add": 9) When your device appears in the window, select "OK": 10) Once your device is selected, your computer will import the tones that are currently installed on your device. Do not change any settings or or turn your unit off during the information transfer: 11) Line 6 Edit will now display the tones and bundles currently installed on your computer on the left side of the window, while displaying the tones installed on the Line 6 unit on the right side of the computer. If you need help navigating the features of Line 6 Edit, select the help menu for assistance in connections, backing up your tones, and importing tones. Q: What is Customtone? A: Customtone features a gigantic Line 6-authored library filled with selected tones from the vast treasure trove of GuitarPort Online, including tones matched to many of the greatest classic and new guitarists, bands and songs. Customtone is also a great place to share your tones with other Line 6 end users. You can access Customtone here: Customtone Q: I Get an error message when trying to access the Online Library through Line 6 Edit? A: This is a bug in the Line 6 Edit software that has not been resolved. Please visit the link above to connect to the Customtone website. Line 6 Edit: F.A.Q. Was ist Line 6 Edit? Was ist Customtone? 2. I'm having connection problems with my POD XT; my computer isn't recognizing that it's plugged in. It doesn't happen 100% of the time (maybe 50/50), but often enough to be a major pain in my lollipop. I've tried multiple different USB cables, all the USB ports on my computer, reboots, etc. The only times I've been able to get it recognized is when I turn off the POD, shutdown the computer, turn on the POD and then turn on the computer. This only works around 60-70% of the time. I attached a screenshot of the error message window that pops up in the Edit Software. Any suggestions? Thanks!
3. I was hoping that I could use PowerCab edit through the L6 Link from my Helix. I have the USB connection to the Helix and have limited usb ports available. Is it possible to connect to the PowerCab with the Edit software through the Helix? Ideally, I'd have the HX Edit and PowerCab Edit on one machine and one USB connection.
4. Hey there -- I've been using the POD for a long time for live sound and have had a hard time finding a good, crisp clean tone. A friend suggested I download tones from the website. I bought a MIDI -> USB cable and plugged it in, used monkey, downloaded the software... and now it's not recognizing that the POD is plugged in. Any steps I'm missing? Do I also need to plug in the ethernet cable? Set the pod to midi? Do I need a second cable? This is the cable I bought: http://www.ebay.com/itm/360671860164 I definitely need this explained like I'm 5. Thanks! Jeff
5. So I just got myself a Helix rack and I downloaded the HX Edit software to start messing without having to put my entire rack on the table. But when I open the HX Edit it only lets me access the Preset and Impulse Response, none of the actual preset stuff as you can see in the picture. Am I missing something? Every time I look up the app online I see people using the app with preset editing section. I've looked all over the Line 6 website and google and I can't find anything on this. Help?
6. Suggestion 1: A view which displays ALL Stomps + Snapshots As it is, it's much easier to edit on the unit itself. There are things that an app can do much better than a real hardware unit and vice a versa. Currently HELIX Editor isn't there yet. One of the current hassles is being able to view the settings for only ONE stomp or snapshot assignment at any one time. What would really help is if there was a view mode where the most salient information for EVERY pedal, and/or Snapshot was displayed all at once - at a glance. Since there is so much potential info that could be viewed ( and edited ) maybe some kinds of filter options or preferences would be needed in order to only show in this view the most salient information required. For example sometimes I need to be viewing and editing just the MIDI Controller settings for any pedal, another time all the effects bypass settings and another time the snapshots. There is SO much more potential GUI-wise for making HELIX HX Edit a fine and extremely productive tool for doing major work on HELIX - and at the moment as many have said it really IS currently much easier to edit on the actual unit itself. But as pleasant and cool as that is - there are many times when I want to be editing via HELIX Edit - and am away from the HELIX itself - even in another room - working remotely onto the HELIX via a computer over Wi fi even - and the app comes into its own. And given current limitations workflow-wise concerning MIDI Control aspects it would be really helpful of HX Edit came to the rescue. Surely one of the major things any music-making tool ought to strive at is improving the workflow of anything involving heavily used gear. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-A-view-which-displays-ALL-Stomps-+-Snapshots/926664-23508#idea-tab-comments "add Option to show ALL setlists at same time": https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Option-to-show-ALL-setlists-at-same-time/816921-23508#idea-tab-comments "Show Snapshots as 8 separate buttons not dropdown" https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-Show-Snapshots-as-8-separate-buttons-not-dropdown/864575-23508#idea-tab-comments View TWO presets at same time ( for copying or comparing settings etc... ) https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/HELIX-Editor-View-TWO-presets-at-same-time/820657-23508#idea-tab-comments
7. Hello. I am sure I have read about some real bugs of HD Edit in the past, so we should take the time and ask Line6 to fix them. This thread should be used as a collection to provide all needed changes in one list. So, at the end we should have a list of errors to be fixt and (additional) also some realistic (!) wishes (probably never will be fulfilled). First error I remember was something with mixer volume, which would not be saved in some instances (maybe only if the POD is connected via USB?). Maybe someone can specify this error more detailed? My personal biggest (realistic) wish for an update of HD Edit would be a tab-functionality to jump to the next knob or parameter and a much more straight visualisation of the chosen (or mouse-over) effect. So here is the list (I would like to keep updated) Bugs take a look at the system defaults and set them to the most common and flawless values. get rid of "(Code 8000000a) Operation timed out". add the software-ability to fix the hardware knobs, as those seem to move by themself through vibrations. expression-pedal related multi-platform bug crashes Edit, if you extensively use wah for more than a couple of minutes (Details 1, 2, 3). DEP lack of displayed knob-values (missing value-display is a known bug. Feature introduced with Ver. 2.25). Error when saving mixer volume (only HD is connected via USB) >>> ideascale I can recall encountering a bug where one side of the mixer, the right channel, occasionally went silent for some reason, and the solution was to just move the volume slider, if using HD Edit. strange general behaviors when HD is connected via USB (should be explainded more detailed). f.e. changes in FX and Amps that are performed over footswitch or expression pedal are not instantly updated/visible (some times not at all) on the edit software. There is no way to know if changes (for example, volume) are actually taking place. Communication between the software and the unit must be improved. I found after editing multiple patches and then quitting the POD HD 500 EDIT you have to restart your pedal to reread the newly edited/loaded patches or they won't play right. the delay settings are not properly transferred from the editor to the device afaik there might be some unfixed issues with some amps in the model packs. Wishes tab-functionality to jump to the next knob or parameter add an overload Indicator in the HD500 signal chain add a vertical scrollbar to allow native resolution of netbooks much more straight visualisation of the chosen (or mouse-over) effect I want to be able to see value of knobs before turning any. Its hard to tell EXACTLY what % your knob is on. The dot that represents true button placement does not get you close enough. I want to edit by the numbers not a grainy LCD screen. Often I need to edit just a couple numbers. add some more mic angles for the SM57 and some valuable mics add some kind of Global EQ patch-wise as an effect-block or DEP Dual Output Modes add API-functions or let the HD Edit go Open Source
8. Is there any way to add effects blocks to the signal chain for a profile on Firehawk FX? For example, I have an external compressor so I don't plan on assigning the Firehawk compressor to a foot switch. I was hoping I could add another effect in place of it (and in addition to the 3 completely assignable blocks). Right now I just have an unused footswitch because of this and would like to add an effect block and assign it to that switch if possible. As far as I know this cannot be done, but possibly functionality that could be added?
9. Hello everyone! I am wondering, if there is a way to use usb-interface while editing my patches in pod hd. Please, take a look on the scheme I drew: https://2.downloader.disk.yandex.ru/preview/d5273195fd5c327879d31dc73dd54ca87673a70ce179525cba8f0271ed650d34/inf/TBwbN1hIDpW1khBkar4de-IFiC4WnK6FcoTIEK6bD5Q5fXm9B-fDG1cFLLJN5lx8lC1mHcivs-ZJVtKMFE8eXw%3D%3D?uid=33198966&filename=scheme.png&disposition=inline&hash=&limit=0&content_type=image%2Fpng&tknv=v2&size=1280x776 I want my pc apps not to use POD as soundcard except POD's editing software. So my scenario is simple. I want to play a guitar while playing some songs in any player app. I can edit patches to create a sound I like. But for master volume control I use my usb-interface (just because it stands on the desk, it is more comfortable than to bend to the floor where POD is). When I'm done playing, I just turn the POD off and continue browsing/playinggames/watchingporn using usb-interface. So, again, I need to connect POD's USB to PC only for editing patches, while all the playback is performed by usb-interface. Sorry for my english and my explanation. If there is any simpler solution, I would be glad to hear it. Thank you!
10. I wonder if it could be possible to connect some midi controller like the Behringer BCR2000 to my HD500X. The idea is to really get my hands on the effects (or at least the most commonly used ones) so that I could edit the effects parameters directly from the external controller. For instance, it would be nice to have a specific knob from the external controller to manage the amp drive (and other ones for each eq parameter) so that, independently of the current program I am in, it could be possible to make slight adjustments straightforwardly from those external controller's knobs.
11. Hello, all. Some Spider V customers have expressed that they were expecting a Mac/PC editor because the amp includes a USB port, and that the manual’s wording on item (17) in the Rear Panel Connections section adds to the confusion: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC or Android device (with OTG adapter) to edit tones, update, playback and record audio. Future releases of the manual will revise this wording to read: MAC/PC/ANDROID USB B Port – Connect a Mac/PC (update; playback/record audio) or Android device with OTG adapter (edit tones; update; playback/record audio). As it stands, there is no Mac/PC editor, but we are aware of the request for one. At this time, we cannot divulge if or when one will be released. We apologize for any misunderstandings. As always, you are encouraged to voice your opinion at line6.ideascale.com, where ideas are voted on and consistently reviewed by our Product Managers.
12. Hello, I'm trying to connect the old POD Pro to my PC via midi to USB cable. I can't find the specific drivers on Line 6 monkey and it won't detect it automatically. I tried the drivers for the POD 2.0, which seemed to having me getting somewhere. It said 'Turn off your pod, then hold the midi button and power on again', which I did. Then I got this message "Update failed (Code 8000900C) MIDI device timed out for a response make sure cables are connected and try the update again". My POD HDX works fine but I'm having no luck with this one. Any advice would be top banana, Cheers
13. ISSUE RESOLVED.. Just a ground lift needed to be added to my computer and the hum is gone and everything works. Hi, I just got a Helix and a DT25 yesterday. Figured out the Line 6 link ain't happing so I'm using the RETURN on the DT25 to bypass the pre's on the DT. That seems to work but now I want to use the Helix Edit software via USB and I'm getting a LOUD hum noise coming from the DT25 like it's wide open and turning up/down the volume does nothing on the DT25 or Helix. I can still hear the Helix tones but the loud hum makes it useless. I tried to use the DT Edit software (unsupported) but it has not effect on the noise. If I used the headphone jack on the Helix the hum is not there when using the Helix Edit software. The issue is between the DT25 return and the Helix when it's in USB Edit mode. Any ideas? Thanks, Gary
14. I've ordered my Helix, which should be arriving tomorrow. (so excited!!) I saw on the website that Helix Edit 1.10 public beta is out. I looked for a file named "Helix Edit" but could not find it anywhere on the site. I see a "Helix Application 1.11.1" and a "Helix Application 1.10" Is that the correct file? Is the "Helix Application" the same as "Helix Edit?" if not, where can I find it? The posts say its in http://line6.com/software but I do not see anything called Helix Edit.
15. Hello to all I am new to the forum. I would like to switch from analog to digital instrumentation, to have more flexibility. when my line effects expected crybaby ----> dyna comp ---> mxr distrortion iii ---> Ibanez TS9 ----> mxr corus analogic ----> Boss DD3 and I would copy it in digital. I find very interesting is FIREHAWK fx, for its simplicity and directness. I downloaded the app for testing and it seems well made. But I have strong doubts that maybe you can answer. I watched many tones to FIREHAWK fx, but I see that all have always only one "stomp" or some maximum two delays ... you can have multiple Flex FX blocks of the same type (Stomp, Mod, Delay, or Pitch / Synth) below ? eg Stomp ---> Stomp ---> Stomp ---> Mod -> Delay ---> Daley ----> Delay etc ... How can it be done? you have a link where I can find the instructions. Or I would estimate the pod hd500x, but provides another type of interface. Thanks for all your reply. Albert
16. Hey folks. Here are a couple of videos that may help you get a bit more out of your Firehawk. How to use the Firehawk FX Looper - https://youtu.be/1cHcI0XBrkw How to use the Firehawk FX Live Edit - https://youtu.be/p2qlEX4Fwks
17. Hi there, I am desperately trying to find an answer, but I don't find anything in the forum. Please excuse if there is an explanation already somewhere - So, I am using the Edit software for my HD500X, which is great. - I have a sound with three foot-switches assigned to an FX (FS1-FS3) - FS4 is still unassigned - I went to the tap "FX" and added an effect I like - Now I want this effect to be assigned to FS4 --> See image attached I cannot find any solution. If I go to "Controllers" I don't find this effect but I find the unassigned FS4... Very grateful for your help, thanks
18. Trying to resolve an issue with my laptop. After trying to flash HD500X which failed and now the unit appears to be bricked, my laptop USB ports (4) are non-functional. Can't see where to uninstall the edit software. Trying to clear all Line6 software to try to restore USB functionality. Any help is appreciated!
19. They appear on my pod but not in hd pro x edit. Help?
20. I have seen others on the forum with the same problem, with no solution, so bare with me or point me to the solution. When making edits and creations in the PC editor the "send" button does not send the data to the pod entirely. Double-clicking the preset (in editor) loads the sounds and visual representations as expected on pod and PC However, attempting to save a preset from editor to pod by pressing the send button only sends half the info- Visually the amp and effects appear to be stored on the pod but the sounds are from whatever was saved in that patch previously and have no reflection on the sound. The only way to get the "new" preset is to power the pod on then off and then the preset appears AND sounds as expected/saved. using pod HD500x with the designated editor
21. I'm trying to dial in some tones but I'm seeing a really strange behavior. Hopefully someone might have some insight as to whats happening. I have a POD HD500X, DT50 212, hooked up via Line6 link. I'm using the POD HD500X Edit software to create some tones that I will be switching between in the same song. The first patch is slightly distorted crunch, the second very clean. For all patches I'm using pre-amp only models. When switching between patches using the edit software they sound exactly how I wanted, However, if I switch using the buttons on the HD500X itself the the second patch does not sound right, distorted and crunchy when it is supposed to be clean. The first patch is using the Brit J-45 Nrm Pre model with the 4x12 Greenback 25 cab and a 421 Dynamic mic. The DT is set to Class A/B, Topology II and Pent mode. The second patch is using the Blackface Dbl Nrm Pre model with the 2x12 Blackface Dbl cab and a 57 on Axis mike. The DT is set to Class A/B, Topology II and Pent mode. Typically the Blackface model would use topology 1 but I wanted quicker switching in the song. Any thoughts on whats happening or how I can get the POD itself to switch the same way I am when using the edit software? Thanks!
22. i am unable to turn on and off delays mods etc using the same tone on my floorboard is there a way i can edit the tone on my pod hd pro to do this?
23. The HW/SW details: PowerMac G5 1.8 GHz DP/4GB RAM Mac OS X 10.5.8 PodXT Live info screen displays: v 3.01 / USB v1.12 / ESN 01278564 Line 6 Edit v 3.0.1 Line 6 Monkey v 1.32 Brand new USB cable, tested, known to work with Printer & Scanner. All USB ports work fine with every device I’ve tested. I purchased my Pod XT Live used, several months ago. I’ve tested it with guitar amps and headphones, and it seems to function properly. It’s in perfect condition, save for a few small paint scuffs on the corners and edges of the housing. The retirement age gent I bought it from said he’s never had it out of the house, and I believe him. There’s not even any visible wear on the footswitches or the CC pedal. Unit seems virtually new. After connecting the Pod XT Live to my PowerMac and launching Line 6 Edit, the software does not recognize that the Pod is connected, telling me it is “offline.†Nothing I do in Configuration seems to get them to handshake. I’ve connected directly to the front and back USB ports on my G5. I’ve disconnected all devices except for my mouse and keyboard (which are both wired) Help files in Line 6 Edit suggest that I run Line 6 Monkey to make sure I’m fully up-to-date, but even when I apply the same username and password which allows me access to the Line 6 website and this Forum, a floating alert window appears telling me that: My rebuttals to the Alert message: • I am ALWAYS connected to the internet with a robust, fast cable connection. • I have no system-wide popup blockers, or malware utilities running. • Just for good measure, I disabled popup blockers & AdBlock Plus in my browsers • (not addressed except on the License Manager FAQ page...No anonymizing apps in use) I perused the Line 6 forums & support pages and followed suggestions to download the Line 6 License Manager; after some trial and error I discovered that v 1.0.4 is the most current which will install on PPC architecture. It was only after I installed it and logged in (this time with success, I got no alerts about a failure to connect to the internet) that a message was displayed in the License Manager app that told me: Sooo...what installation or troubleshooting procedure am I missing here? BTW...the following message on the following page http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/computer-based-recording/computer-audio-set-up-and-troubleshooting/usb-compatibility-with-line-6-devices-r342 is a HUGE engineering FAIL: ------------------------------------------ If you have tried all available USB ports on your computer and have either no device recognition or poor audio quality (clicks-pops), you will want to consider purchasing a PCI USB 2.0 card to connect your Line 6 USB audio interface. ------------------------------------------ Thanks in advance for pointing me toward any solutions...I champing at the bit to drive this thing around in Apple’s Logic!
24. Hello everybody, For Xmas, i bought a new cable called USB to Midi (USB2MIDI) with 1 usb male, a small device (converting usb to midi) and 2 midi plug (IN and OUT) like this one : LogiLink Cable USB MIDIhttp://www.amazon.fr/LogiLink-C%C3%A2ble-USB-MIDI-pour/dp/B000XRI3CC and this cable works fine with some software like Reaper, Guitar Pro or MIDI-OX : i can record commands from pod 2.0 with Reaper for instance, or send commands BUT i can't open Line 6 Edit to edit/save/import/export my own effects 1 - I can see other posts with same kind of problem : can't connect to line 6 Edit with LogiLink cable --> M-Audio recommended ok fine but i don't really want to buy another cable 2 - I have already tested my cable with MIDI-OX : seem to work fine : input & output are ok, with Reaper too : i can record when i change something on the pod, then, i can receive what i record previously 3 - My old computer with MIDI /GAME port and old midi cables (no USB) works fine with my POD 2.0, so the pod 2.0 is ok 4 - I have the latest version of Line 6 Edit & Java up to date too... I have also tried some older version of Line 6 Edit just in case ... 5 - Help me please :-) i can see the talented people here ! 6 - I'm french but i can understand English if it's simple :-)
25. So I just bought this thing and I'm trying to create my own presets in the in the Edit application running in Windows 7. It works great, but for only a minute or two, and then the unit stops syncing and is locked on whatever sound I was currently at. After that nothing responds. If I turn pedals on or off, change pedals, change amps, the sound stays the same and I no longer see "syncing" on the device screen. If I try to Receive anything I get an error message: Operation timed out, Code 8000000000a When I unplug and plug the device back in it works again for only a minute then the same thing. This is unacceptable. Any ideas? Did I just waste a lot of money? Device is updated.
