  1. The "Effect" option and the entire LFS2 footswitch is a latching footswitch with LED lights. This allows you to turn on the effects and make channels changes. The LED will correspond with the effect being on or off. If you're switching channels, this overrides the effect option in the saved preset. Even though the saved preset might have the effect turned to the "OFF" position, this will still appear as ON with the footswitch. This is why you may not getting certain settings as "Saved" when you have the LFS2 pedal connected. Since the pedal is overriding the saved preset default settings. This is normal behavior for the LFS2 latching footswitch. The footswitch options correspond with the LED lights. You can save it correctly with the LFS2 disconnected, or with the Catalyst Edit software. If you see the lettering at the top of Catalyst edit as RED, this means the preset is changed. TAN lettering would mean its saved and hasn't been changed.
  2. Please help! Popping and banging when changing effects. Other glitches include: Poly sustain freaking out and sustaining previous chords, also a random global settings change where tapping up and down on bank mode just went through each bank individually rather than up/down a page. None of this happened before in previous software, also I re-installed previous firmware and it all worked normally. Have reset to factory multiple times (with and without using my old back ups) and updated using both Line 6 updater and HX Edit Update: after loads of updates and exploration i've found that it may just be when the Kinky Boost is selected, the reverbs bang when you scroll through them. Does anyone else have this issue?
  3. Hi I'm trying to record a cover of "rock + roll" by EDEN(link at the bottom) and wanted to use my M5 pedals "Jumbo Fuzz" preset to record the guitar section at 1:31-1:45. However i cant get the recording to sound like the video or the output to my amplifier. It sound weirdly poppy. Like there's no sound when muting the strings but as soon as i start to play a not the volume shoots up rapidly. I have attached a sample of the recorded effect. This happens with any of the "Fuzz" presets but not with other distortion effect like "Overdrive" which i used in an earlier part of the song. My audio chain is Guitar -> M5 -> M-Audio M-Track -> Audacity on PC via USB -> Guitar amp via M-Track headphone out Guitar settings: Volume knob is cranked to max, Tremolo knob is set to zero and the pickup selector is set to the lowest setting. M5 settings: I have tried to play around with all the settings to no awail. M-Audio M-Track Settings: Gain is set to the second tick. Main and headphone volume level is maxed. Guitar amp settings: All effect are disable and all knobs have been turned to 0 except for gain and volume. M-Audio M-Track: https://m-audio.com/products/view/m-track This is my first venture into recording stuff onto my PC so any help in figuring out where i went wrong would be much appreciated. Best regards - Gentle_Chu WeirdSoundEffectM5JumboFuzz.mp3
  4. I noticed that when switching off a certain effect, say the multitap effect (or any other echo/reverb effect for that matter), the active part instantly gets cut off. Perhaps most of the times this doesn't matter too much, but it would be great to have some control over it. Ideally I'd like to be able to let the old effect 'run its course' and not instantly be cut off. I do understand that DSP power could hit a ceiling when there is a lot of dying-out effects still active. But as long as I'm switching off effects, I don't think that DSP will hit its limit. Instead there could be an option to cut off the old effect when I engage a new effect. Would such a setting be possible?
  5. What is the Metallurgy Collection? The MetallurgyTM Collection of amplifier and effects plugins was created specifically for guitarists who wish to quickly and easily access contemporary versions of classic and modern metal tones—as well as craft original tones of their own. The Collection bundles the Modern, Thrash, and Doom plugins, which are also available individually. The Metallurgy Collection plugins feature amplifier and effects models drawn from the award-winning HX® family of products. How many amp models per plugin? Each Metallurgy plugin features four amplifier models carefully chosen to deliver a full range of genre-specific tones. What kind of effects are included? Pre-amplifier Effects Each Metallurgy plugin features 3 (or more) mono. style-specific effects, as well as a polyphonic capo, that can be used before the amp in the signal chain. Post-amplifier Effects Each Metallurgy plugin features two stereo, style-specific effects that may be used after the amp in the signal chain. What about Cabinets, Microphones, and IRs? Each Metallurgy plugin features a choice of eight speaker cabinets and eight microphones, all based on IRs. Two mics may be selected and combined with a stereo room mic array, and up to two third-party Impulse Responses (IRs) may be substituted for the factory mics. Once you’ve logged in and authorized your Metallurgy software, IRs purchased from the Line 6 Marketplace on the same account will be made available in Metallurgy. Can I automate parameters in the Metallurgy Collection? Yes. Nearly every parameter in the Metallurgy Collection can be automated. Does the Metallurgy Collection support MIDI parameter control? Yes, nearly every parameter in the Metallurgy Collection can be controlled via MIDI CC. Is amp switching and amp bypassing via MIDI Learn or automation available? Switching channels via midi/automation is not available because the plugin would have to load the DSP of the alternate channel – which is essentially another model being loaded. Changing amp models in general is not supported via midi and automation. You can bypass an amp model and its DSP by disabling (bypassing) the amp view in the top toolbar. That also is not supported via midi learn or automation. There are other ways to bypass/mute that are midi/automation supported within the cab view’s mixer. Is the UI resizable? Not at launch. We’re working on it. Does the Metallurgy Collection support Retina displays (2x resolution)? Yes. The Metallurgy Collection includes Retina support. Is there Undo/Redo functionality? Yes, Undo/Redo is included at launch, along with A/B Compare. Does the Metallurgy Collection have a built-in tuner? Yes, it does include a chromatic tuner. Will there be a standalone version? Yes, each plugin includes standalone functionality. Are there any artist presets? Not at launch. 6. How can I get the electro harmonix freeze effect in pod go? on my previous boss ME25 pedalboard I had this effect which I used quite a bit. Thank you
  7. Hello! Does anyone know if it is possible to assign the tap tempo switch to control the pre-delay on any of the reverb blocks in HX Effects? I have an EHX Cathedral that does this and it has become one of my go to delay/reverb sounds. I'm wondering if this is possible within HX. I thought about creating a custom block that includes both a reverb and a single repeat delay set to full wet before the verb, but i'd love to find a cleaner way to do it. Anybody have any thoughts?
  8. Hi folks, I'm wondering whether it is achievable with Helix to get the In/Out Phase sound or effect similar to what Brian May can do with his guitar? Cheers Marcel
  9. Hello guys, I have a question: it's possible to set pan to single effect? For example set one effect only on Left o Right channel? I've searched in the effect list but I had found only "autopan"
  10. Hello guys. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to all this having just used amp heads, cabinets and pedals for years. I'm sure this has been answered a million times but I'm struggling with the tone and I'm not sure if I've set my patch up correctly. Using the 4 CM do I need to put in a preamp block or not? At the moment I don't and everything sounds quite off to me. I'm going I to an orange cr120 head and having to go I to the clean channel which only has a treble/ bass control and if I try to go into the dirty channel, who h has bass treble and mids I lose volume unless the gain is cranked all the way up which then affects the sound of any distortion or overdrive pedals I e put in my patch. Sorry if I haven't explained this very well. I'll post a picture of my patch below
  11. Hello, my pod hd500x motherboard crashed and i’ll buy the hx effect, but can someone give me the complete preset of the « vocal synth » by pics, it would be easier i think? thx a lot

    Yaya Effect

Now that we have a filter/vocoder type of effect I have been trying to recreate an effect that I have on my digitech pedals but I am having some difficulty. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a similar sound from Helix? Would great to just use the one pedal. Thanks!
  13. Hello everybody! I'm new here and new with my UX1. I'm so far very happy with it. I have been searching swells packs for worship, but it seems the UX1 doesn't have that.. Am I right? No such/similar effects? I would appreciate if anybody with experience with this stuff would link me to some patches or addons or anything that could help me out, thank you in advance! veecharlie.
  14. I'm thinking of buying the Amplifi TT. Does it have an octave down effect? If not, can I program it myself somehow? Thank you.

    Big Muff Tone

Hey Everyone, I was running my Black Russian Big Muff (chicken head knobs) through the effects loop of the helix, as this is a big part of my sound, and was comparing/trying to get a similar tone out of the helix triangle fuzz. I noticed a couple big differences and was hoping some of you might be able to steer me in the right direction. The biggest difference and one that bugged me the most is how much more bottom end and punch the Russian BM had, I attempted at running a compressor and then an EQ(firstly by themselves, then together) before/after the Triangle Fuzz and didn't seem to be able to get it to do what I wanted at all. I also noticed that the sustain on the Russian at about 2 O'clock seemed to be hotter than the Triangle Fuzz at 10. This might be slightly due to the low end loss though. I tried out my rat in the effects loop against the Vermin Dist and noticed very similar results, losing that low end grit to it. Just curious if you lovely people have any suggestions for beefing those up! Thanks in advanced!
  16. Greetings, In my POD HD500x, I used roll of the volume of my guitar, turn the the particle verb on, hit a chord, turn the volume up and then turn the particle verb off. This gave me a really nice pad/synth like effect that would sustain forever until I change to another patch. I tried this very same trick/affect in the Helix and it does sustains as expected but then a low end rumble/feedback like sound comes out of the Helix and it gets louder and louder to the point that makes the effect unusable. That never happened on the POD HD500x. I put an EQ at the end of the chain and cut the low frequencies and no luck. I even changed the global EQ and cut the lows frequencies and no luck. It seems like this noise bypasses the EQ of the pedal. Does it happens on your Helix as well?
  17. Hi everyone, what about something a little bit smaller than POD? ;) http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Amp-Preamp-Stompbox-with-effects-loop-and-headphone-output/836960-23508
  18. How do you use midi to turn on/off an effect? I see how to change the parameters of an effect but not how to enable/disable the effect block. Any ideas?
  19. Hey guys, These days I am experimenting with some ambient patches and I am just trying to work with the Smart Harmony Effect and create something usable our of it, but I just can't. I don't even know what its parameters do and I can't find any instructions on the internet as well. Could anyone shed some light upon this Smart Harmony Effect? I was thinking about using it for ambient patches, like I said. Thanks!
  20. My second day of use and I get echo effect even will all my dial knobs put to zero to min. I tried to reset by holding 'clean' while powering on for few 5-8 secs. But this effect continues. Hep me out. How does a clean setting sound and audio file or video somewhere to compare mine?
  21. I just added a plea in the ideascale library for adding the Boss DS-1 to the sounds of the Firehawk. All in favour, please add your vote! http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Add-Boss-DS-1-sound-to-Firehawk/795018-23508?submitted=1
  22. In the AMPLIFi Remote editor, there are 10 effects blocks that you can turn on and off, and assign different models and parameters to. Some of them can be dragged to different locations, some can't. Of these ten blocks, only three of them can be assigned as: Drives and Dynamics Mods Delays Filters, Synths and Pitch A quick way to tell which three can be assigned these effects types is that they have a border around them: Notice Stomp, Synth and Mod all are bordered. However, Reverb is selected, so its border is brighter. Here's how to change the effect type of those three blocks: 1. Select one of the three blocks by touching it. In this example, we'll select Stomp. 2. The effect will then show the effect type (in this case, "stomp"), the effect name ("Facial Fuzz"), and a power button to the right to turn the effect on or off. Touch the effect type to change it. 3. You'll then see a "Type" button. Touch it. 4. The block types then appear. Choose one. 5. Lastly, select an effect and touch OK. 6. The block has been changed. There is no restriction on the number of similar effect types or effects assigned to these three blocks. Three stomps, each with a Fuzz Pi on it? Knock yourself out! Just don't forget to save your tone (cloud icon, then disc icon).
  23. Can a "Bass Emulator tone" be build with the AMPLIFi? Like in the POD HD Desktop, there are a few good ones in the cloud for PODs (I'm not bass player, and don't wanna buy a bass-guitar)

    Shimmer Effect

Hi! Is there a shimmer effect like the Line6 Verbzilla in Octo mode? Thanks Steeeve
  25. Hello, fellow M20d users :) I was just thinking on how I can achieve a short "effect shot" on the M20d without having a sound guy turning the effect on and off or switching Scenes during a song. I´m trying to do the following: For one song I need a long reverb on my percussion kit, just for 3-4 strokes on the intro, then I want to return to "normal operations" or better said my normal global settings for the groove of the song. I don´t have anybody who could turn the reverb on during the gig with the IPad, nor do I want to Switch Scens during the running song. My thought was that I maybe can "route" the reverb to an empty Encoder/channel and then just unmute this channel for the intro and mute it afterwards. Is there a way I can achive this with the M20d somehow? Yeah, I know I can turn on and off the effect on the channel myself, but I don´t want to switch away from the perform screen. So, I need to find a way to push just a button or encoder on the perform screen to turn on or off the reverb for the percussion kit.
