  1. I'm learning "Girls, Girls, Girls" however my Floyd Rose guitar is setup in E Standard and from what i've been informed you can't just detune a Floyd Rose guitar, it needs to get re-setup again As such is there an effect in the XT Live that will allow me to drop tuning by a whole step so i can play along to the track in original tuning?
  2. Hi all, I've problems getting the AMP/PREAMP and CABs to work nicely with physical amps when I play somewhere. The sounds just doesn't sound right and I'm not sure if the 4 cable method is doing a much better job. Also I find it too cumbersome to setup; I want to plug my Pod Go in an amp and be done with it. So I'm basically only using the effects. However for some reason the CAB/AMP always need to be in the signal chain, even when I switch them off. Would it be possible to remove them so the freed up CPU cycles could be used for an extra effect?
  3. I went to GC the other day and had a chance to play the Spyder V MK2 and was obsessed with the 24B What You Need preset. Was wondering if anyone knew what all the effects were in that preset? I remember being a square chorus, brite room reverb, multihead delay, some sort of synth(i wanna say bit crusher?), and some compressor? I'd just like to know what effects they are and what they are based off of. I am planning on buying a HX Effects and would like to translate the preset onto the HX Effects. Thanks, Auggie
  4. Is there a way to ADD an EXTERNAL Compressor Pedal into an EX LOOP Block on HX stomp , Yet still retain the main SEND JACK to route signal to a stage amp?
  5. When i try to load tonefiles, i experience deactivated amps / effects. See attachement. Why is that so? How can i get missing elements? Greetz Lothar
  6. Hello everyone. I would like to suggest a new feature to the developers of Helix, but I don't know where to start. Any recommendations?
  7. Hi, i'm trying to control the channel switching on my Mark V via the Helix Effects instant blocks. I've figured out the function in general and the switching itself is working properly ( tip+ring for the wanted channel). The only problem i'm having is excessive humming (mind i already have two gates in my signal chain). I have seen a similar problem in this forum before, but the thread is some years old now. Does anyone know if there is a proper solution or are there just workarounds with external components? kind regards and thank you in advance olli
  8. I'm making the transition from the Boss GT-100 to the HD 500. One of the things I LOVED about the GT was its ability to switch patches and THEN toggle the individual effects on and off inside your new patch. Switch patch and then go into stompbox mode. Having trouble figuring out how to do that on the HD. From what I understand you have to be in ABCD mode to toggle between patches and 5-8 mode to toggle FX on and off. Is there a way to switch modes on the fly like on the Boss unit - change patch and then go into stompbox mode?
  9. Hi everyone!! I have in my hands an HX Effects, and I would like to add a midi pedalboard like Morningstar MC3 but I would like to know if I can add more Footswitch The HX effects has up to 6 simultaneous effects and I would like to add some more as can be done in the HX Stomp
  10. Hello! Does anyone know if it is possible to assign the tap tempo switch to control the pre-delay on any of the reverb blocks in HX Effects? I have an EHX Cathedral that does this and it has become one of my go to delay/reverb sounds. I'm wondering if this is possible within HX. I thought about creating a custom block that includes both a reverb and a single repeat delay set to full wet before the verb, but i'd love to find a cleaner way to do it. Anybody have any thoughts?
  11. Hey guys! I'm looking for a JFET style od to go with my absent guitar pedalboard but don't know all the circuits on the OD's available to us. Help a brother out!

Is there a way to set tremelo on a Spider V?
  13. Greetings So, I have an Arturia Microfreak, and want to use my Hx Stomp as an effects unit. Unfortunately, I'm unable to get any sound. I've tweaked the gain, the output volume on the synth. Is there something special one needs to do to use as an effects unit for something other than a guitar? (I never have had problems with my guitar.) Thanks much JC
  14. Hey guys, I have a compressor question. I'm trying to get the compressor tone of the walrus audio deep 6 which is a 1176 studio compressor. Are there any compressors on helix similar to that circuit? I know there is the LA-2A, but the circuit is different and I've heard it can sick your guitar tone away. Thoughts?

  16. Hello Line 6ers, I’m teaching a man called Graham and he owns a Line 6 unit. I followed the instructions in this post and managed to create a dual path preset in Helix. I selected the Input block on one path and set it to guitar, did the same for the mic, etc. I successfully setup a DAW called Cakewalk on Windows and made a template with 3 tracks: 1 gtr left channel, 1 gtr right channel, 1 mic track. Graham is happy with this but he wants to know if its possible for him to use a preset (or at least some effects) so he can get the guitar effects coming through on the gtr channels while he sings. Is this possible? If we can't use effects-laden presets, can we copy the effects from existing presets and add them in? I noticed that a lot of presets use ‘two paths’ for all of their effects. Does this mean that we will be limited in our range of effects (and routing options) given that one our ‘paths’ is being taken up by the mic input? If the guitars have to be recorded dry with no effects (or only some of the desired effects), what’s the easiest way of re-amping or getting the recorded audio to run through a plugin or the Line 6 unit itself? Thanks in advance!
  17. Hi everyoine. So I've been experimenting a bit with my equipment recently and I've found one thing that concearns me a bit. Bit over what I'm working here with: 1. HX Effects 2. Hughes Kettner 40W amp 3. Torpedo studio What I'm trying to achieve is a split signal from HX Effects to my torpedo (different effects on different lines and then different cab simulations on Torpedo), while at the same moment using FX Loop of my amplifier. What I've done is: So basically signal goes like this: Guitar -> HX input -> Send2 to amp -> Return2 from send of amp -> HX output to return of amp -> amp to torpedo cab input -> HX Send1 to Torpedo line input Because Torpedo is setup to take Amp + Line L inputs, HX outputs are panned: - Main L/R is panned 100% right - Send 1/2 is panned 100% left + I used Send1 block on path B to force signal to this output but I don't know if it does anything... And here's what's bothering me: if you can only use Send1/2 as output of the second path, is the Send2 signal to amp doubled (FX loop + output of Path B)? Funny thing in that situation is that even when my amp is in standby mode I can still hear guitar on left channel... Can anyone tell me if this setup is correct or am I doind something wrong here and can possibly damage my equipment... Thanks Art
  18. In my past I managed to achieve a really nice distorted tone with the POD Screamer. Recently I tried to recreate that tone with real pedals and noticed that it sounded nothing like that which shouldn't be a suprise because the Pod-Screamer has Bass and Treble controls which the real Tube Screamer doesn't have. So what exactly is the real model of the POD-Screamer? The only thing I found with Bass and Treble controls is the ''Boss ODB-3 Bass OverDrive'', ''Ibanez TSB9'' and a Behringer-Copy of the Boss. I wouldn't mind buying one of these pedals but I don't really know if they do the same as the POD-Screamer since they're all bass pedals. Any experiences or suggestions (except buying and trying :D) ?
  19. Hello, I'm having trouble getting the sound I was hoping for on the Helix, and I need some help. I'm sure it's my lack of experience with gear and effects that's the problem, not the Helix. I watched all the Jason Sadites videos and regularly read through this forum, and I do seem to be SLOWLY getting closer, but I also wonder if there is not something more fundamental wrong with my setup or settings - like guitar, monitor speakers, amp choice, etc. Here's how I'd describe the sound I'm going for: Warm, smooth, thick, rich clean tone, with some reverb/spaciousness, and a little overdrive to give it a soaring quality. I tend to prefer smoothness and warmth to pinpoint clarity and accuracy, and I definitely don't like twangy sounds. - My guitar. I have an American Elite Strat. It's great, but the single coils are probably at odds with my tonal goals. I use the neck pickup exclusively, but want it to be even more "neck-pickup-like" if that makes sense. The bridge pickups sound unusably harsh and twangy to my ears through the Helix. - I have monitor speakers connected to the Helix as my "amp". Yamaha HS7's - they are nice monitors, but possibly not as guitar "amp" and this may be part of the problem. - Over headphones, I get closer to the sound I'm looking for. Things sound spacious and rich in comparison to the monitor speaker setup. - I get a harsh digital sounding tone anytime I use a delay block. This is not as important as the main tone issue, but it is pretty pronounced, and maybe this gives a clue to what's going on. Weirdly, ping pong delay is the only one I've found that doesn't have this problem as bad. - The sound was way too harsh and digital sounding until I turned on the global EQ and dialed down the high cut to a low level, around 5kHz - Using ribbon mic's on the cabinets helps immensely as well. I've not otherwise messed with trying different cabs or cab settings... - I've experimented with different amp models, and some work better than others, but the base fenders work the best: US Double vib/nrm. - Before Helix, I used a Yamaha THR10C, and found the chorus effect to give that smooth rich sound. (it doesn't actually sound like a chorus, and I only mention this in case anyone has experience with this) Appreciate the help!! Attached is a tone example (excuse my intermediate-lollipop playing) and also a settings file in case that's useful. Thanks, JoelMAIN Headphones.hlx Test Sound Clip Main Headphones.m4a
  20. This is a thread for guitarists (and bassists! The low end is important!) who want to share what their rig is and what they are planning in the future. Share what Guitars, Effects and amps you have! Currently I'm a part of a Punk band and this is what I work with: Guitars: A Stratocaster (Looking at some Les Pauls and some dimarzio evolution humbuckers. An old mexican squier tele currently it doesn't have a nut or strings Pedal Board the good ol' Boss tuner, the tu-3 Boss BD-2 ( my favourite overdrive by far) Boss MD-2 Arion Chorus (the thing is like as old as a dinosaur but sounds super good) Hx stomp 1. Phaser 2. Tremolo 3. Britt 2204 4. 4x12 cali 30 cab 5. Plate verb 6. Digital Delay Boss dd-7 (isn't a part of the board, because I'm using the hx stomp for delay but will use it soon so I can free up space on the stomp for eq) That's my Rig so far I'm planning on buying some more effects and a boss Katana 212
  21. Hi all. On my second HX effects unit as first one faulty. Some of the presets have no sound on bank 11 and 12. I have the latest 2.82 firmware loaded. Any ideas? Many thanks JW
  22. Ive been using a Stomp for a while, and have the Global HPF set to 30hz. Works fine. Using a passive Bass in to a Quilter BB800, in to a Fearless F112. No PA support so backline proving it all. Ive just got the Effects version, as its easier to use live. Obviously it doesn't have the Global option so ill need to put a block in. My question is which is the favoured one to use, as i noticed there are two dedicated EQ filters. I appreciate they are different but im not 100% sure which is the better one for getting rid of the sub low end. Thanks for any tips.
  23. Hi everybody, I'm a new owner of a FBV shortboard mkii. I can't understand if it's possible to dowload some new effects on FBV mkii or create them... where and how... (I've just dowloaded the manual but, forgive me, maybe because I'm italian and the manual is in english only, it's seems to me not to find the answers I'm looking for) Someone help me, please! Thanx
  24. 25. I have been tone chasing with this piece of equipment for quite some time now. About a year to be exact. This is definitely a complicated piece of equipment in my eyes, nonetheless, i am quite determined to learn as much as possible to fully utilize this beast. I have been reading this article http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/ampTone#preEQ in order to try and help me better understand some aspects of this pedal. Perhaps i should sell and buy the pro as i dont really tend to use the peda effects and i am using this more for a amp/cab sim in recording my own material. Or perhaps i should sell it and invest my money elsewhere. I am not sure what to do. My problem is that when recording my tone will sound ok before i open my DAW and i am playing through my interface. Once i open my DAW the sound tends to be pushed up higher and im not sure where to compensate here. Im looking at the eq cause i have turned down the gain on my interface and the ch. volume on my cab sim. I was reading about pre-eq to get rid of some buzz/fizz and i am wondering if that is where the problem is. Does the pre-eq come before or after the amp in the chain? Where do I access the frequencies as explained in the frequency chart of this guide? please Halp. Relieve me of my ignorance.
