  1. Hi! I have a problem, I use the pod hd500x and an engl invader, I connect the midi in of the amplifier (configure omni engl) to the pod, I configure omni in the pod, and it changes the channel, that is, it communicates well, I can change the variax preset, the effects preset by fxloop, and the amp channel with its gains, noise gate, volume A / B, etc. my problem is that when I connect the guitar cable it makes a lot of noise, like fireworks, and it only disappears if I remove the midi, which prevents me from changing the channel of the engl, although if I use the FX loop, If I do without the 4-wire method, it happens to me that with the guitar's wireless it goes well, but as soon as I put a cable instead of wireless it puts noise again, until I disconnect the midi out of the pod .. I don't understand what happens What is different about the wireless cable? ... In the end in summary I can use the pod well as long as I use the z15 to change channels. But I want everything from one, that I have already seen that it is possible, but the noise prevents me. I have to find the one who communicates well via midi and voila Can you give me any suggestions? I change the omni of the pod for a specific channel? Any opinion or criticism is welcome.
  2. Greeting fellow Helix'ians, :D Sorry if this is a noob question but i'm completely confused :( I have an Engl PowerbaII II, Is it possible to use the Helix as a midi controller for my new cherished amp head or am I eternally doomed to purchase the overpriced z-9 controller from Engl and clutter my work space even more? I would love to use the Helix to control everything, or am I dreaming :( As far as I can tell the PBII has a 1/4 foot switch jack to control the various MIDI functions? Even just changing channels with the Helix would suffice for now. Is this below the answer I'm looking for? http://www.voodoolab.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=640 Apologies again, I get a bit lost when it comes to MIDI connectivity.
  3. Hello Is it possible to use the Helix hx effects to switch between all four channels on a ENGL powerball amp? I have previously had problems with channel switching when using a Carl martin octa switch. When using this I can only switch between clean and crunch channels when using a mono jack. When I use a stereo jack I can switch between crunch and lo-gain, but I want to be able to switch between clean and lo lead (can't even access the hi-lead channel). Is it possible to choose any of the four channels I want when connecting the helix hx to my channel gain input on the back of my amp? I haven't bought a Helix yet cause this is a very important feature for me, so I want to be sure it can do it before buying. Thanks :)
  4. Hi, I would like to have your opinion on a strange noise coming from my setup : I'm using the 4CM with my Helix and my Engl Ironball head following the standard procedure : https://goo.gl/images/7CrDsD On my Engl clean channel, the sound is ok without any buzz or parasites. Problems happens when I switch on the lead channel and get awful numeric sounds (Which you could hear right here : https://youtu.be/l-dEdm9L2IM). I've run other tests to try to find the guilty : running a boss delay on the fx loop of my Engl on Lead doesn't produce any parasites, running the helix with the 4CM on a tubeless combo amp (peavey bandit) lead channel doesn't produce any parasites whatsoever. What would you think ? Inevitable DA/AD parasites sound coming from Helix amplify on high gain tube amp ? Thanks !
  5. Howdy all, _Apologies moderators if this is in the wrong forum.. figured it might get a few more hits if it’s in the main forum_.. Having been part of the Fractal Forum (however no longer because I’m a loud and proud HELIX user J), and Kemper Forum, and now the Line 6 Helix forum, I’ve noticed that in particular here in the Helix forum, there’s a huge amount of FRFR discussions, but there’s minimal discussions about players that don’t necessarily use FRFR. This could quite easily be because the bigger majority of players in this Line 6 forum ARE mainly FRFR users/players. This isn’t an anti-FRFR topic or discussion, it’s more about expanding on this forum and perhaps growing the capabilities of the Helix and sharing wins/strategies/tones etc etc. On the Fractal and Kemper forums, there are many discussions about FRFR, but there’s also a lot of discussions and banter about power amps + cabs + Kemper or Axe FX, _not just FRFR_. Is it worth having a forum or chat room for the players that mainly use their Helix rig in a non-FRFR situation? It’s all well and good to download and trade patches with one another that are FRFR; however from what I can ascertain on this forum, at least 90% of all things discussed is FRFR based, with not a lot of input on power amp + cab + Helix and so forth. Again, having owned and played all 3 modellers, I personally keep resorting back to a valve power amp + cab + Helix because that not only works for me, but the band that I play in as well. FRFR is the perfect bedroom solution (which a majority of us forum’ites are, presumably), however, I just think it’d be good to have a place to chat, trade ideas etc that are not always FRFR based.. Food for thought I guess..
  6. Hey guys, I know I know, lots of players are really digging FRFR/cabs sims etc, but for my purposes, I'm really digging using amp sims IN CONJUNCTION with my VHT 2/50/2 power amp. Just curious to know if there's other players out there, as the title suggests, that use their Helix with a valve (or even solid state) power amp, AND IF SO, are you using it in a band? Last question, as far as hi-gain tones are concerned, what amp sims do some of you use for this? Thanks.
  7. Hey guys, I'm about a week away from receiving my Helix floor unit - and I can't wait! Having been a Fractal user for the last 2 years, I've become quite accustomed to how the Axe FXii works, what it's limitations are, and to be fair, just how damn good that thing really is. I guess this is more of a question for the guys who have come across from Fractal to the Helix.. as the title suggests, what pro's/con's have you discovered? Where does one lack where the other one is superior? Any do's and don't's? Amp sim options? I know it's all very personal and preferential, it could be a simple thing that the Fractal FX8 or AX8 do not have an expression pedal built in. Or, the fact the Helix is completely colour whereas the Axe FX looks like, as one of my friends have recently said, a 1986 Casio calculator! Apologies if this question has already been asked! Cheers George
  8. Hey, I have to question, I use the POD HD 500X via 4CM with my Engl Gigmaster (Effects only) How should I asset the Comprresor (and which COmp I should use) for best results in your opinion. Genre is Metal/ Hard Rock And is there any way to eliminate the levle rise of the analog chorus? Thanks
  9. Hi Guys!! i was trying to understand the 4 cable method, and actually did, but the problem is that i cant find instructions for my gear. i have a POD HD500 for a while and i recently bought a engl power amp (2 x 50), that's fine because i was using the POD as Pre amp, the cab is stereo compatible so i use the 2 inputs. the problem was when i get the pre engl e530. i want to know how to make the 4 cable method in this case (if it can) to keep using the POD just for effects. gear: - pod hd500 - engl e530 pre - engl e840/50 power - laney gs412l
  10. Does anybody could give me an piece of advice for a signalchain that effects that the sound with POD and 4CM is the same like the sound when I plug the guitar straight into the amp? Actually I'm trying with that chain. Noise Gate (Decay-20/th-35) ->Studio EQ (+12db Gain) -> Fx-Loop (0db/0db/100%) -> Mixer (Pan to center, B is muted and A at 0 db) Though the sound level is nearly perfect, I miss a little bass and dynamics. Any ideas? Greetz
  11. Hi, I've been struggling with this problem for a while now. I've always been a studio musician, but have recently been on the road with a band again. For that, I got myself an Engl Fireball tubeamp and some pedals to go with it :) But, apart from the Engl's own distortion sound for rhythms (which is great), my good old Podxt has some great solo sounds in there I've been tweaking and using for years. Did I mention I hate pedals? So, I'm desperately looking for a way to connect my Podxt to the Engl amp for the solos, but bypass it for the rhythms. Thus being able to get rid of all my pedals (except for the floorboard ofcourse) I'm also working with a Rocktron Hush Ultra rack unit in the FX loop. Is there a way to do this or something that comes close to a solution using these three things (amp, Podxt, Hush unit)? I'm going slightly mad trying to find a way for this. (I'm a complete disaster when it comes to live gear) :-) Any help or info will be greatly appreciated as you can see I really need some :) (and I can't even seem to get a single answer anywhere) Thanks!
  12. Right I have posted this before but to no avail so I'm going to try again. Basically the only way I can get my POD to send a signal to my ENGL power amp is to go via the fx loop and stick a loop block at the end of the signal chain which is rather annoying as I like the use of the looping function. I have sent it directly into a PA before via the 1/4" out without an issue but for some reason it is not working going into the ENGL so I have no clue what the problem is. The output signal is set to power amp, 1/4" line out switch set to amp, guitar in set to normal. My rough signal chain is (working) Guitar in>Vol pedal>Amp sim>Reverb etc>FX block>FX Send (out)>ENGL>Cab. The way I want it to work is; Guitar in>Vol pedal>Amp sim>Reverb etc>1/4" out>ENGL>Cab. Has anybody got any ideas? It's been months and I still can't find a solution.
  13. Greetings. Basically I need some help with connecting my HD500 into my ENGL power amp without using the fx send. At the moment I have it working in this chain order; Guitar>HD500(FX Send)>ENGL E840/50>Marshall 1936 Lead. But I want to be able to go directly out of the pod instead of using the fx send, wasting an fx block and been able to use the looper. So the chain would be instead; Guitar>HD500(1/4"out)>ENGL>Marshall. Any ideas? Iv'e included some images, one of which is the back of the ENGL, the right input is from an XT PRO which is turned off.
