  1. OK so here is my first official problem with my HD-500. (That I bought the first month they were available) I can no longer use the toe switch to select between exp-1 and exp-2. It had been getting more and more difficult to get it to actually click and now it is not operative at all. I wonder if there is some type of solution that doesn't involve taking it to be repaired. Does gunk or dust collect that can be blown out? Is this a ridiculous and wholly idiotic question? (well maybe that was overstating it, but you get the point... :) Thanks for any help you may be able to share.
  2. I have an M9 and am considering using it to replace my current delay unit. I like how I can use an expression pedal to control the Mix of the delay effect. I'd like to use another expression pedal (using the 2nd exp pedal input) to control the Feedback parameter (i.e. number of repeats) of my delay effect. However, in looking over the unit and the user's manual, it appears that this is not possible. It seems that I can't have the two expression pedals each controlling a different parameter (Exp Pedal 1 -> Mix and Exp Pedal 2 -> Feedback) on the same delay effect. Seems like this would be a reasonable capability to expect on the M9. Please let me know if I'm missing something....or, if indeed, this is a limitation of the M5/M9/M13 series. Thanks, Paul
  3. Hi there. I couldnt find an answer to my problem on the web so im asking here now. My X3L's expression pedal stopped working. Since im out of warranty, i opened it and checked for solder problems and also cleaned the sensors, all seems fine. Then i rememberd that theres the Safe Mode with pedal calibration, so i fired it up and to my surprise the pedal worked, as in i was able to calibrate it (it goes smoothly from 0-255) and it also showed the "P" for passed settings (i think?) However, it doesnt do a thing in normal mode, neither in Wah, Volume nor Tweak mode. It also doesnt switch the Wah/Vol LEDs when using the toe switch, but im not to sure if it even does that in the first place since i only use it in Tweak mode. I already tried it with factory resets + firmware rollbacks. I dont really know what else i could try. Do i have to save/apply the changes i made in Safe Mode, appart from saving the calibration itself with the D stomp knob? Would be nice if someone could suggest anything, or maybe even had this problem before and solved it. Thanks.
  4. Does the Ernie Ball VP JR work with the HD500 as the second expression pedal? I was able to get it to work with my old Line 6 M13 I just had to plug it through the output of the JP JR (not the input). I tried searching this forum, but couldn't find an answer. If it doesn't I may have to purchase a Mission Engineering pedal. Thank you in advance for your help!
  5. I just thought of it yesterday, as I was thinking as well of the durability of the HD500. I honestly don't know much of it, but I know most wah pedals are optical since older ones seemed to use some kind of pot and they would wear out often. I'd like to know what kind of system the expression pedal uses so I know the life expectancy of it.
  6. I'm new to this, just bought the M9. Did anyone ever try to use two expression pedals on the M9, each for different purposes/functions? I'd like to know if it's possible to assign expression settings (like wah, volume or pitch) to expression pedal one and switch between scenes with pedal two. Meaning I want to be able to change scenes on the fly and still have expression capabilities assigned to each effect/scene. If that's not possible, what are the two expression inputs for? What do you use the two expression pedals for? Thanks for shedding some light here. Rapha - - Fender Jaguar (Matz customized with two Haller pickups and tremolo) - Boss GEB-7 - Line6 M9 - MXR M87 - - TC RH 450 - - GK Neo 215
  7. I have a Line 6 M9 that is acting strange. I'm using an external 'preset' box instead of an expression pedal. The preset box is simply a latching switch with a 10k resistor. I can set min/max settings on an effect and use the preset box to toggle between the two settings. What's weird is that I can do it a half dozen times without a problem, then all of a sudden it'll stop working and forget the min/mix settings and I have to set them again to get it to work. Any ideas on what's going wrong here?
  8. Q: What are the specs for the Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal? A: The Line6 expression pedal is a passive 10K ohm mono linear taper pot, using a standard 1/4 inch mono instrument cable. Q: Do I need to reprogram my changes with the EX-1 every time I plug the pedal in? A: You do not need to restart your effect unit everytime you want to reset the expression pedal. Your expression pedal settings will remain the way you set them up regardless of effect knob settings. Your expression pedal settings can be saved to the effects parameters saved by the footswitches. Q: What are the weight and dimensions of the EX1 Expression Pedal? A: Line 6 Weights & Dimensions Q: Can I use the Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal to control the volume, wah, or tweak function on my Line 6 product? A: Yes. Simply plug the EX-1 Expression Pedal into either the "PEDAL 1" jack or the "EXPRESSION PEDAL" jack on the back of the device. Q: How do I use the Ex-1 with a POD unit when connected to the unit or an FBV shortboard? A: Press the "Edit" button then turn the "select" knob until you see the "wah | volume" page. On the volume side, select or highlight "Assign" with the third soft button located under the main display. Turn the "Effect Tweak" knob to change from volume to Tweak. In the updated PODxt, these parameters are changed on the page after the "wah/volume" page. By changing from volume to tweak you have engaged to EX-1 to control any function that comes under "tweak". To find out what's under the tweak selection, turn the "Select" knob to the next page where you will see "FX Tweak | tempo". on the FX tweak side you may scroll through the stomp tweaks, delay tweaks, mod tweaks etc. Make sure if you select say the delay time, the delay button light must be on and so with the other effects. Q: How do I use an EX-1 Expression Pedal with a Stomp Box Modeling Pedal? A: See the following document for information on how to use the EX-1 with your Four button modeling pedal: Expression Pedal & Stompbox Modeler Pedal FAQ Q: My expression pedal just stopped working. What happened? A: If too much weight is put on the pedal when it is in the heel down position, the foot rest (top half of the pedal) can become disconnected from the control pot in the base (bottom half of the pedal). To fix this, simply unscrew the bottom plate of the pedal and push the foot rest into the heel down position, then (with your finger) push the metal plate that is connected to the control pot down until the brass pin in the foot rest clicks into the center slot of the metal plate. You may need to pull the toe end of the foot rest away from the base to do this. Be careful, as too much force could crack the foot rest. Put it back together and it should work fine.
  9. Q: How do I use an EX-1 Expression Pedal with a Stomp Box Modeling Pedal? A: Power off your stomp box modeler by unplugging the left/mono input. Next, plug in your expression pedal and set the expression pedal to the full heel down position. Plug the left/mono input back in and dial up a sound you like. Now press the expression pedal forward to the toe down position, and set one of more of your knobs to another setting. Rock back and forth on your expression pedal and you'll hear your sound blend between the two sound settings you just made. Store this sound into one of your pedals memories and the toe down and heel settings will be saved as well. Example of EX-1 connected to a DL4 Modeling Pedal: - Move EX-1 to heel down, adjust the delay settings on DL4. - Then move the expression pedal to toe. - Now change only the parameters that you want to be affected. - Heel to toe sweeps between those two settings. Q: Can I use one EX-1 Expression Pedal to control two modeling (4x4) pedals? A: There are a couple ways to approach running two modeling pedals with a single EX-1. Both methods require modification (as the ohm resistance will be cut in half): - Replace the 10k pot in the EX-1 with a 5k pot, and use a mono-split instrument cable to each modeling pedal. - Remove the second jack hole cover (labeled “output”) and install a second 1/4" mono jack here. Replace the existing mono 10K pot with a double-ganged or stereo 10K pot. Install the leads from each side of the pot to it's own dedicated output jack, then use one mono 1/4" cable per jack connected to each expression pedal input on the 4x4 pedal(s). Q: How can I get replacement stickers for my Stomp Box Modeling pedal? A: The stickers for the MM4 and DL4 are attached to this document for download and printing.
