  1. Version française. Deutsche Version. We have created an accompanying video tutorial for the License Manager below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GStUee2cyz4 What is the Line 6 License Manager? Similar to online services such as iTunes or Google Play Store, the Line 6 License Manager allows you to authorize & manage all of your purchased Line 6 software licenses so that they function simultaneously with multiple computers and/or Line 6 devices. For instance, you can have a Mac computer, a Windows computer, a POD XT, and a TonePort, and be able to use your purchased licenses on all of them once the devices are properly authorized. This goes for new license purchases as well as purchases made in the past. Additionally, the Line 6 License Manager provides online access to your line6.com User Account, allowing you to reference your purchase history, register your gear, manage account options and more! The License Manager replaces Line 6 Monkey as the tool to use to manage licenses. Line 6 Monkey continues to be used as an updating tool for Line 6 devices. What devices work with the License Manager? A compatible device can be a Mac or Windows computer, or any supported Line 6 USB device that is connected. POD HD/HDX, POD Studio, TonePort, GuitarPort, POD X3 and POD XT devices are all supported for license authorization. Can I remove licenses from my Line 6 device or transfer them to a different Line 6 device? Since your purchased licenses are attached to your account, and not your devices, using licenses on different Line 6 devices is only a matter of authorizing the devices. NOTE: One exception is Factory Add-Ons. These are features that can only be used with the device it came with and cannot be removed from that device to be shared with your other Line 6 devices. For example, POD XT Live comes with an FX Junkie Add-On. After authorization, License Manager does not make that unit's FX Junkie available to your other authorized devices. In License Manager, Factory Add-Ons are displayed in italics once you've selected a device and goes on to say "these Add-Ons can only be authorized on this device". How many devices can I authorize? You can authorize your purchased license(s) to more than one device at the same time; however, your number of simultaneously active authorizations is limited to five. This limit includes four of the same type of device (i.e. four different UX-1 devices, or four different computers) simultaneously authorized. If you have reached the maximum number of allowable authorized devices, the License Manager will remind you of this. If this happens, you can Deauthorize one or more of your authorized (computer or Line 6) devices within the License Manager. This will then allow you authorize another device. You can authorize up to eleven unique devices over the lifetime of your Line 6 account. Additionally, the maximum number of Line 6 accounts that can authorize a specific device over its lifetime is limited to five. How do I authorize my device(s) for use with my licenses? Download and install the latest version of Line 6 License Manager for your operating system from the Line 6 software page. Go to the following link for software downloads: Line 6 Software downloads. Before launching the Line 6 License Manager, be sure to have your Internet connection active (and your Line 6 device connected, if you are using one). Launch the License Manager: On Mac® - Go to /Applications/Line 6/Line 6 License Manager. On Windows® - Go to Start menu\Programs\Line 6\Tools\Line 6 License Manager. Log in to your Line 6 account. Select the device you want to authorize for use with your licenses and click the authorize button. Once the authorization process completes, you may be prompted with a screen informing you that your Line 6 device includes some Add-Ons that need to be Installed on your device. If you are presented with this screen, click the Install button to proceed. If the Install button or the list of your software is missing, use the "Scan for Devices" button, or restart License Manager. Deauthorize then authorize again if these actions don't resolve the issue. At this point, you are able to use your licenses on your authorized device. Repeat this process with any of your other devices you want to authorize for use with your licenses. My Line 6 hardware is already authorized. How do I add my recently purchased software to my device? If you recently purchased software on your Line 6 account, and License Manager shows that your computer or Line 6 hardware is already authorized but does not show the new software in the 'Add-Ons' list, de-authorize the device(s) you want to use with the new software. Afterwards, authorize the device(s) to use the new software. I authorized my device(s), but I don't see anything under "Add-Ons". Are my licenses gone??? Your licenses are attached to your account until you gift them to another account. Click on the "Scan for Devices" button if they don't appear after authorizing, or restart the app. Can I use the License Manager to activate or manage RiffWorks or iLok licenses? The License Manager will manage the Line 6 version of RiffWorks, but not RiffWorks Standard, which requires a SonomaKey from Sonoma Wireworks. iLok licenses are deposited from your Line 6 account to your www.iLok.com account, but License Manager is not used to do this. Is an Internet connection required to purchase licenses and authorize devices? Yes, purchasing of licenses requires an Internet connection. After the purchase, License Manager must connect to your Line 6 account so you can authorize your device(s) for use with your purchased license. How do I deauthorize a device? To deauthorize an authorized device, select the device within Line 6 License Manager and click the Deauthorize button. When deauthorizing a Line 6 USB device, you may also be presented with an extra step to Remove the licenses from the device. If you are presented with this screen, just click Remove and wait for the Line 6 Server to properly configure your device. If anything happens to my Line 6 device, or my hard drive crashes, do I lose my licenses? No, your model packs will be safe. They are tied to your Line 6 account, not your Line 6 devices or the software installation on your computer. Your Line6.com user account maintains a record of all model pack purchases. In the event that your device needs repairs or replacement, Line 6 Customer Support will be able to deauthorize the faulty device as needed. I can't use my licenses anymore. What happened? Please understand that only the account that purchased the licenses will be able to access the licenses, regardless of who has the device containing the licenses. If you can't access this account, you won't be able to access the licenses contained within it. For instance, if someone bought a used POD XT that was authorized with a Metal Shop license, and at some point the buyer deauthorized the POD XT or authorized any other license, the Metal Shop license that was on the POD XT would be removed. The buyer would no longer be able to use Metal Shop because the buyer's account was not used to make the Metal Shop purchase. The seller would have to gift the model pack to the buyer's account (see how to gift below). Another case is a father using his Line 6 account to buy a model pack for his daughter. He'd have to gift the purchase to her Line 6 account for her to have access to the model pack. Another scenario involves licenses purchased online. Line 6 is the only authorized seller of licenses for use with Line 6 devices. If you purchased Line 6 licenses from anywhere other than the Line 6 website, the licenses were originally purchased using a Line 6 user account other than your own and the licenses have reverted to that account. The account owner would have to gift the store order to you in order for you to use the licenses you purchased from that individual. Line 6 plays no part in this situation. What if I sell my device? What happens to my licenses? If you intended to sell your licenses with the device, then you can gift the relevant store order(s) to the buyer. If you didn't intend to sell your licenses with the device, when the buyer runs the License Manager and logs in, it will prompt him to authorize the hardware, which will remove the device authorization from your account and restore the licenses for use with your account. How do I gift a store order? Use the License Manager to first deauthorize all of your devices. Next, log in to your Line 6 account, visit the Purchase History page, and click the Details link for the order. Click the link/button labeled "gift", then enter the destination Line 6 account username and click confirm. The order will still show in your account history, but you will not have access to the license(s) from the order, be able to return it, or be able to gift it again. The giftee's account will display the order on the Purchase History page, but not be able to return or gift it. The account holder will have access to all the license(s) in the order. After deauthorizing your devices and completing the gifting process, you can re-authorize your devices to use with any remaining licenses. NOTE: Model Packs purchased as part of an email promotion cannot be gifted. How do I return my purchased license? Line 6 will gladly provide a full refund of any Line 6 License order within fifteen (15) days of the order date. After 15 days, returns will not be accepted and no refunds will be issued. Please note: All Software purchased in a single transaction must be returned together. A refund for less than the full original order amount cannot be issued. Contact our staff at www.Line6.com/company/contact to initiate a refund. You must first have fully deauthorized all of your devices using License Manager before the return process can begin. After our staff has determined the devices are deauthorized, a refund will be processed. The completion of the refund process can take up to 5-7 business days, depending on your bank. Once you receive confirmation that the process has begun, you can re-authorize your devices to use with any remaining licenses. I don't see my connected device in License Manager. What's wrong? If you don't immediately see your connected device, try connecting it to a different USB port on your computer and click the Scan for Devices button. Additionally, disconnect all hubs and non-essential USB, Firewire, and MIDI devices from your computer. Turn off any other programs that may be running and de-activate all anti-virus software installed on your computer. License Manager says that there is no connection to the internet even though I am connected and able to access the internet normally. What's wrong? There are a number of issues that can cause Line 6 License Manager to not be able to connect with the Line 6 servers. The biggest offenders are pop-up blockers and surfing anonymizers. Please disable these tools if they are active during your session. Which server port does License Manager access and how does it need to be configured? Your server connections need to have port 80 or 443 outbound. Another option is to use a proxy server. What are the system requirements for the Line 6 License Manager? The Line 6 License Manager is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows: XP or newer Mac: OSX 10.4 or newer Line 6: License Manager: Häufig gestellte Fragen: Wir haben ein Begleitvideo in Englisch hierzu erstellt, welches Sie ganz oben finden können. Ihr Line6.com Benutzerkonto beinhaltet all Ihre Lizenzen. 2. Hi all... Thanks in advance for your help. I tried the search function here first but most of the filtering options seemed unavailable so the results list was way too long. I've revamped my old laptop and want to experiment with my POD Studio UX1/PodFarm and a DAW. Thought I'd try Cakewalk first but I have also installed Reaper because of this question I have - I don't know if I have a problem or if what I observe is to be expected. I used the SI-drums and SI-bass in Cakewalk (just the midi of the some of the included loop rhythms) for a couple of tracks. I set the loop playing and I can add VST Fx like reverb, etc. with all the Cakewalk-included plugins - I can manipulate the plugin controls, hear the effect, I see signal meters bouncing, etc. If, however, I select any of the PodFarm plugins, it's like they are permanently bypassed. I don't hear any change or see any input/output signal and turning knobs does nothing. (Fwiw, I could not find a "power on/bypass" button on the plugin itself but maybe I missed it. When I say plugin, I've tried the whole PodFarm2 giant plugin, with all the amps, etc. and then some individual effects as well - same behavior either way.) Perhaps this is expected? Are the Line6 plugins tied directly to the UX1 interfaces and can't be applied otherwise? Seems logical on one hand, why would they allow the plugin to be used outside the scope of their product after all? But this just goes against my (admittedly very!) limited knowledge of DAW/VST fundamentals. I could answer some of my curiosity by going to get a guitar or mic and plugging it in to the UX1 and actually trying it to see if the plugin is enabled. But that's taking the easy way out and I'm stubborn like that! :-) (While technically possible I suppose, it seems unlikely that "plugging in" to the UX1 is going to magically enable the plugin.) thanks! Rob Update: I did just now find all the little yellow on/off toggles for the various effects/amps/mics etc in the big PodFarm plugin. They are all "on" as they should be but the effect is clearly not enabled. Also, how might I find out if my license includes the use of the VST plugins? (I would have expected some sort of indication while trying to use them if in fact my license doesn't include the plugins.) Update: I think this text I found from the Pod Farm 2 install documentation suggests I should be able to use the plugins as long as the interface is connected: (meaning I don't necessarily have to be actually *using* it as input) "Just remember that for running POD Farm 2 & elements Plug-Ins, your Line 6 hardware that holds the POD Farm 2 license must always be connected via USB (even if you’re also using a 3rd-party interface). You don’t necessarily need to be using your Line 6 hardware as your active USB audio device - it just needs to be USB-connected (and powered on for units that have a power switch)." So now I think there is a real problem of sorts here. I'm going to use Pod Farm standalone and see if that works as expected before trying anything else.

  5. Line 6 generally tests with software Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) that are the latest and the last freely upgradeable versions. Line 6 does not test on 3rd party applications that are no longer supported by their own developers. While we use a wide variety of 3rd party recording applications during our software testing, it is simply not possible to test POD Farm's (or any other Line 6 software) compatibility with every DAW. We make every effort to be compatible with as many recording applications as is practical. Research performed by our Quality Assurance department, beta testers, and ultimately POD Farm users systematically help us to identify bugs and incompatibilities, and we continually strive to resolve these issues with incremental software releases and/or documentation in the form of release notes, online Knowledge Base items, and forum posts. POD Farm plug-ins are developed to conform to the standards established for RTAS, VST and AU and should be compatible with any DAW supporting these plug-in formats. It is important to note that the way that DAW manufacturers implement these standards varies, which, when combined with a given computer's unique configuration, may result in varying plug-in performance.
  6. Q: What is an iLok? A: The iLok is a proprietary USB hardware dongle that holds licenses for software protected by PACE Anti-Piracy's Interlok. About The iLok: https://www.ilok.com/ilok.html Q: How do I activate my POD Farm iLok purchase? 9. Q: What is the KB37 used primarily for? A: It is a 37-key USB MIDI keyboard/control surface and TonePort USB audio interface. The KB37 will be able to send and receive MIDI CC information and process audio input and output across the USB connection to the host computer. Q: What are the knobs in the center top of the keyboard for? A: They are 4 software-assignable MIDI Continuous Control parameter knobs with 4 soft-buttons and a dedicated set of MIDI transport controls. The KB37 can control assignable MIDI parameters in most software synthesizer/samplers on the market today, along with most digital audio recording application sequencer track transport controls. Note: The KB37 does not have any of it's own onboard sounds. It is a MIDI controller that sends MIDI data to the computer and any installed MIDI software synthesizer/sound software. Q: What are the Audio Specs for the TonePort I/O section? A: Sample rate conversion at 16 and 24 bit at 44.1, 48 and 96 kHz. 2 XLR inputs with mic preamps and +48V phantom power. 2 Guitar/Bass Inputs – use the Pad input for guitars and basses with high level pickup outputs, or the normal input. Dual analog VU meters (software assignable to input, record send, and output levels). Q: Can I use GearBox editing software with the KB37? A: Yes, the KB37 is a GearBox software supported TonePort family device. Reference Links: Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Logic 7 MMC Input must be enabled in Logic 7 in order to receive MMC from the KB37. From the main application menu, open Preferences>MIDI Select the Sync tab Click the MIDI Sync Song Settings button in the bottom right; this launches the Song Settings dialog. In the section labeled "MIDI Machine Control (MMC)" check the "Listen to MMC Input" option Note that this is a per-song option. To make this option global, you must modify your template file. Open Line 6 Audio/MIDI devices. Go to the MIDI tab. Click the Settings button. Choose a preset from the presets list. For each transport control, change the "To MIDI Out" parameter to "MIDI CC", assign a MIDI CC (for this example, we'll use 20-24), and change Switch Mode to Momentary. Click the Apply button, name the preset, click the Save icon and click OK. Click OK on the next screen. Assigning KB37 Transport Keys To Sonar 6 Go to Options/MIDI Devices and choose the KB37 as the input device and choose OK. Go to Options/Controllers/Surfaces. Click the Add New Controller/Surface icon. For Controller/Surface, choose ACT MIDI Controller. Input port should be the KB37. Click OK. Go to Views/Toolbars and ensure Controllers/Surfaces is selected, then close the window. In the Controllers toolbar, click the Controllers/Surfaces Properties button that is at the right end of the Control Surfaces toolbar. Although you can choose any preset, the M-Audio Ozone is laid out closest to the KB37 layout, so use it for this example. In the Controllers tab, you'll see 8 columns, each containing 4 three-row sections, three of which should be labeled "N/A". Go to the last of those 3 rows and click the n/a label to name it Rewind. Name the next 3 N/A fields from left to right: Stop, Play and Record. There is an empty field two slots below each of the labels. When you click the empty field for each of the 4 columns you just set up, press the corresponding transport button on the KB37 and it will be learned by Sonar. Go to the Options tab and under the Buttons category, drop down the second field to choose a control label and the third field to choose the transport control. Uncheck the "Exclude this button from ACT" setting each time. Click in the Presets field to name your new preset then hit the save icon. This preset will be stored and available to use with the KB37. Control Garageband With KB37 In order to control the Transport functions in Garageband with the KB37 you will need to have version 2.0.1 of Garageband or later. The Garageband software cannot do this natively and so you will need to download add-on software that permits MIDI messages to control the play and stop buttons in Garageband. GarageRemote is one such software and is available here: http://www.muratnkonar.com/otherstuff/garageremote/ This software is from the company: murat n konar Once GarageRemote is installed and set up, start GarageRemote's Listener off by default) so that it can relay MIDI notifications to GarageBand. GarageBand responds to MIDI CC 007 and 010 for current track volume and pan, and these parameters can be assigned to the existing GarageBand MIDI preset of the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices settings. Setting Up The KB37 Transport With Cubase The KB37 has control wheels and buttons like many other Mackie or others transport cotrollers. You can get the two working together by simply going into: device setup, click on the + button, add MIDI MACHINE CONTROL SLAVE, and select the Line 6 Toneport KB37 from the menu on the right. In order to set the control on the KB37 itself you will need to go to: Line 6 Audio Midi Devices in your Control Panel and select the MIDI tab. Setting Up The KB37 To Control Reason First, ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Line 6 Monkey. Run it and verify that your TonePort KB37 is running the latest driver, firmware and flash memory. Download the latest version of GearBox application and install it to your computer. Launch the "Line 6 Audio-MIDI Devices" program from the Line 6/Tools folder. Next, make sure the KB37 is the active device. Select the MIDI tab and from the drop-down list of Controller Mapping applications, select Reason (version #). You are now ready to use the KB37's transport, Sound Select and 4 assignable real-time parameter controls with Reason. Keep in mind that you will be using the default parameter control settings. If you wish to customize those, click on the "Settings" button to access the Parameter Map screen. The drop-down list titled "MIDI CC/Action" is where you can modify which device parameters are to be controlled by the available controllers on the KB37. Keep in mind that each Reason Device has it's specific parameter CC# assignment. To access those values, refer to the "MIDI Implementation Chart" located in the Documentation folder within the Reason application folder on your computer's hard drive.

Online help is available in English and other languages HERE Note: This version of POD Farm includes support for both Line 6 hardware and iLok USB Smart Key. Licenses for each hardware platform are unique and not interchangeable. POD Farm or POD Farm Platinum iLok licenses are required for use with iLok keys. Activations for iLok keys are included with the retail version of the plug-ins or can be purchased from the Line 6 Online Store POD Farm and POD Farm Platinum iLok users may may choose not to install the components required for Line 6 devices. Likewise, POD Studio and other Line 6 hardware users of POD Farm may ignore any iLok specific installer components. All supported Line 6 devices require a POD Farm license for VST/AU/RTAS plug-in functionality. If your device does not already have a POD Farm license, one can be purchased at the Line 6 Online Store System Requirements: WINDOWS® Pentium® 4, 1.2GHz or better (2.5Ghz or higher recommended) Windows® XP® (with SP2 or better) XP x64, or Windows® Vista® (32 bit and 64 bit versions are supported) 512MB RAM minimum (1GB or more recommended) 1GB free HD space minimum (10GB or more recommended for recording) USB port on computer Internet connection required for activation (once activated, Internet connection is not required) Host application that supports RTAS, AU, or VST Plug-ins MACINTOSH® Intel® or Power PC® based G4 800MHz or better (G4 1.67 or better recommended) OS X 10.4.6 or better 512MB RAM minimum (1GB or more recommended) 1GB free HD space minimum (10GB or more recommended for recording) USB port on computer Internet connection required for activation (once activated, Internet connection is not required) Host application that supports RTAS, AU, or VST Plug-ins Known Issues: When using DAW automation to change model types all model parameter settings revert to their default settings. Work around is to instantiate POD Farm on separate tracks for alternating amp/effect setups or automate all parameters after a automating a model change. Loaded presets which include unauthorized cabinet models do not provide a graphic indication that the model is not active. The user must look at the drop down menu to know if the cabinet model is available or not. A user will never be able to create a preset (from scratch) which includes a model which is not owned. To avoid presets consisting unauthorized models, sort the preset browser's metadata by Own All Models. Not all automation parameters are available in Ableton Live's automation menu. Ableton Live is designed to display 128 automation parameters. POD Farm may not find previously installed GearBox presets by default. Clicking the refresh button in the "Presets" view will show the presets properly. If you create a preset with an amp and then delete that amp and perform a "Save As", you'll notice the deleted amp is called out in the "Save Tone As" window. This is just a GUI issue and your preset has been saved with no amp. Digital Performer does not process Pod Farm plug-in audio when bouncing. POD Farm subsequently freezes when the bounce is completed. The direct audio is bounced, but without the POD Farm effects. Digital Performer does not crash; you can still go to the inserts and remove the frozen POD Farm instance. Mac Exclusive: Clicking on a tone icon will automatically launch Gearbox if it is also installed on your computer. You need to manually associate tones on your Mac to open using POD Farm. Right click or CTRL click on the icon and select "Open With."
  11. Q: What is POD Farm? A: POD Farm is Line 6's new plug-in software platform that will offer POD tone to any DAW. For use with either a Line 6 hardware interface or iLok dongle, POD Farm can easily be used with all the major software recording platforms (such as, Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, Nuendo, Garageband and more) and is available in Mac® AU/RTAS®/VST® and Windows® RTAS®/VS® formats. A: POD Farm is compatible with our POD XT and X3 devices as a plug in only. It cannot be used as a standalone editor for your POD. Gearbox will remain the primary editor for all POD XT and X3 devices. Q: Can I transfer the free POD Farm plug in I got for being an X3 owner out of my X3? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your X3 device. Q: Can I transfer the POD Farm upgrade from the GearBox Plug-In Gold/Silver DI to another device? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your Gold/Silver DI device. Q: Can I use the Bass POD XT (or XT Live) as a dongle for POD Farm? A: No, as the Bass POD XT series cannot accept assets or model packs. Q: Is GuitarPort Online compatible with POD Farm? A: Currently, our GuitarPort Online subscription service is not available through the POD Farm software. GPO subscribers must continue to use Gearbox for this service. Q: Can I have Gearbox and POD Farm installed simultaneously on my computer? A: Yes. Q: What about my current recording projects that have the Gearbox plug in instantiated on them? Will they still work? A: Absolutely. You can continue to use Gearbox as a plug in if you'd prefer. Your projects will not be harmed. Q: Will my Gearbox tones work with POD Farm? A: Yes. POD Farm will load all of your Gearbox presets just fine. You can continue to use them. Q: How do I save the POD Farm presets when used as a plugin? A: Select the folder next to the preset name, then select "save as" in the drop-down menu and rename the altered tone to whatever you like. Q: Can I use POD Farm on more than one computer? A: Yes. You must run Line 6 Monkey on each computer first in order to authorize that functionality.
  12. TonePort UX8 Frequently Asked Questions Q: Is TonePort UX8 an audio interface or software? Does it record? A: TonePort UX8 is a USB audio interface. Every TonePort audio interface works with the included GearBox modeling software as an integrated hardware/software system. The TonePort device gets audio signals into your computer and GearBox software makes everything you record sound amazing. TonePort UX8 is a unique integration of professional hardware and amp and effects modeling software. Designed with high quality electrical components and a rugged exterior, TonePort UX8 provides a wide dynamic range and an exceedingly low noise floor. The UX8, like every TonePort device, works together with the included GearBox software as an integrated hardware/software system, making everything you record sound amazing. Additionally, TonePort UX8 features Line 6's exclusive ToneDirect Monitoring, which lets you hear your GearBox-processed signal instantaneously, providing unmatched responsiveness while you record. Q: What is ToneDirect monitoring? A: ToneDirect monitoring allows you to monitor a fully processed signal with extremely low latency, regardless of the buffer size of your recording application. This means that there is an incredibly small delay between when you play a note and when you actually hear the sound from your speakers. This is unusual among audio interfaces because with other more traditional monitoring solutions, you either have to listen to processed audio with significant latency, often such that it is hard to play along with what you are recording or listen to a signal with no processing. It's uninspiring to say the least to hear completely dry electric guitar with no amp, cab, or effect processing. Q: What is GearBox? A: GearBox is the standalone software application that works with your TonePort audio interface, providing everything you need to record professional sounding tracks. GearBox contains models of vintage and modern amps, speaker cabinets, stompbox and studio effects for guitar, bass and vocals and can be applied while recording to any pair of inputs. Q: Can I apply Gearbox effects to all 8 inputs at once? A: Yes, using the Gearbox plug-in that is included with the UX8. Q: Will Gearbox be able to record at 96K? A: The UX8 driver can process audio at 96K, but Gearbox operates at 48K. Gearbox converts the 96k signal from the UX8 driver, converts it to 48k, processes it, then sends the signal to the UX8 driver, which then converts the signal to 96k. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 without the GearBox software? A: Yes, you can use the TonePort hardware without GearBox software. Q: Can you re-amp with UX8? A: Not the same way you can with a PODxt, but you can via the GearBox Plug-In. The method for re-amping with a PODxt is pointed out in Knowledge Base document 3940. Q: What is GearBox Plug-In? A: GearBox Plug-In is a VST, AU and RTAS plug-in, providing the same models as the standalone application and additional flexibility when mixing and mastering. Q: Is the GearBox Plug-In included with TonePort UX8? A: Yes, it is. Q: Are TonePort UX8 and GearBox Intel Mac compatible? A: Yes, they are. Q: What recording software can I use with TonePort UX8? A: Every TonePort supports the ASIO standard on Windows and Core Audio on the Macintosh and should work well with any recording application that supports one of these protocols. The UX8 is designed to work with most major applications such as ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar and Ableton Live. Q: Can I use TonePort UX8 and GearBox processing as a front end for Pro Tools? A: Yes, if your Pro Tools® hardware interface has a S/PDIF input you can run the stereo S/PDIF output of your TonePort UX8 directly into your Pro Tools hardware, complete with ToneDirectâ„¢ monitoring and GearBox processing. You can also utilize the Pro Tools compatible RTAS-format GearBox Plug-In for mixing and mastering. Q: Is RiffWorks 2 Line 6 Edition compatible with TonePort UX8? A: No, RiffWorks Line 6 and Riffworks 2 Line 6 Edition are not compatible with the UX8. However, the Standard Edition (full version) of Riffworks available for purchase through the Sonoma WireWorks website: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/. Q: Can I expand the model set of TonePort UX8 with Line 6 Model Packs? A: Yes, you can. They are available as optional Model Pack purchases from our online Store. Q: Can I transfer model packs that I purchased on another Line 6 hardware device over to my new UX8? A: Yes. Once you've purchased a model pack license key, that key remains with your user account indefinitely. You cannot, however have two or more different registered hardware devices running the same model pack simultaneously. Only one hardware device can have the model pack installed on it at any given time. Q: Do the gain controls on the front panel control the line input jacks on the back of the unit? A: The gain controls the input level of the XLR inputs, not the instrument cable inputs (as these are assuming line level and most instruments will have their own level control). Q: What do the VU meters do on TonePort UX8? A: The GearBox application allows you to assign the signal that is monitored by the VU meters to various audio sources: including input, record send, output and monitor levels. Q: How accurate are the VU meters on the UX8 in relation to the meters in the software? A: Very accurate, with the smallest of variance between Gearbox and the physical meters. Q: What will happen if my signal clips the unbalanced analog input on the UX8? A: The clipping will be a "natural clipping". The cure is to lower the incoming signal at the source. Q: How many Instruments/Mics can I record at one time? Since you are monitoring directly out of the UX8, am I going to experience any latency when recording all 8 inputs? A: 8 inputs can be recorded at any given time. Outputs 1 & 2 are monitored via ToneDirect, with the remaining outputs monitored from the hardware at near zero latency. Q: Can the phantom power from the UX8 damage my dynamic mic? A: No, it will not. Q: What is the signal to noise ratio on the analog inputs? A: The UX8 has an input signal to noise ratio of .005% THD, with a dynamic range of 111 dB. Q: What do flashing lights on the unit mean? A: The LED status indicators (Main Mute and Main Clip LEDs provide secondary functions in their ability to indicate the connection status of USB and S/PDIF) as follows: No USB connection: The main clip LEDs alternate steadily between left and right, about once every second. The USB cable may be unplugged or the UX8 driver may not be installed on your computer. No S/PDIF clock sync: The Mute LED blinks 3 times rapidly about once every second when the clock mode set to S/PDIF, and no external clock is present. Q: What are the dimensions and weight of the UX8? A: The UX8 is a standard two-unit rack space module, with dimensions of 17"w x 7"d (8" with knobs) x 3.5"h. The shipping weight is 11.6 lbs. Known Issues: An incompatibility for systems running on Intel ICH10 USB Chipsets; UX8 will hang the user's computer system. The solution for this is to use a PCI USB 2.0 interface card to connect UX8. Record buss mis-routing of UX8 in Gearbox when recording into DAW Gearbox is remembering POD Farm 1 and 2 Record send settings if PF (1 or 2) was used before Gearbox program. Workaround is to reset the Record Send settings that were made in POD Farm 1 or 2, or to reboot the computer.
  13. Hello, I purchased the Line6 POD UX2 via http://www.thomann.de on 3/30/18. It was described with "including Line6 Software POD Farm with "FX Junkie" model pack, 18 Amps, 64 effects, [...]". So i registered my UX2, downloaded PodFarm 2.5, which came with a CD and Line6 Monkey. But when I start PodFarm it says "no PodFarm 2 License found". So i only got a Trial Version of the Software, which only includes 3 Amps, 2 Preamps, ... how can i get the full Version, which was described on the Website i bought the UX2? I don't want to buy it seperately, when it should be included with the UX2 device. I also tried to uninstall PodFarm and download the latest Version via your Website. Thanks for your help.
  14. Suddenly pod farm 2.57 is saying that its not authorized/no license. Also, when I plug in my POD GX it doesn't seem to register with my system and does not appear in file manager. The red light turns on for about 10 secs then turns off. I run license manger and the gx is authorized but pod farm is not on the list. Should it be? I've never had to run the license manager before. Both these problems seemed to arise after the latest major windows update. I'm kinda a noob at all this and I'm sure the solution is pretty obvious...my friend set it all up for me and i would just use the gx/pod farm to practice and mess with tones without any problems ...until recently. I'm assuming the gx isn't working because pod farm "isn't authorized"? Any help much appreciated, thanks.
  15. So I have just recently bought a XLR microphone for doing livestreams but I want to have control over multi effects in games as well so I can have a reverb while I talk to people to sike them out. The problem is the mic works for chatting live, but not when I am live with Pod Farm 2.0 open. The needles on the meters do not move when not in pod but do once I am in pod but the mic is dead for the computer. All drivers were reinstall so I am at a standstill.
  16. Hi, I've encountered an audio output problem with my POD X3 Bean - it is connected to my PC via USB with all the latest drivers and utilities installed and updated. The thing is, that Pod Farm gets my guitar signal and indicates that there should be output sounds coming through, but I can't hear a thing. Is there a way to redirect the output to my system's default output (speakers)? I don't have enough cables to make a L/R setup from the POD to my PC, so the USB is my best chance. I didn't hear any of the POD's output sounds when I was messing with ASIO, either - same thing with the Control Panel -> Sounds, although I could hear the signal only when I checked the "Listen to this device" box, with enormous latency. So it's definitely getting and giving a signal, though I have no idea how to get the output playing through my speakers. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  18. Hello, I am not sure if this has been answered or not, I wasn't able to find anything. Can I purchase Metal Shop and use it with either Pod Farm 1 or Pod Farm free without having to buy Pod Farm 2.5? Or do I have to buy Pod Farm 2.5 in order to use the Metal Shop? Thanks for your help.
  19. Hello, I am debating buying a used ilok license of PodFarm Platinum on Ebay, but I am worried about getting ripped off, or getting a illegal version of the program. Is there a way I can check the status of a license with Line 6 before I make a purchase, and can they do anything to keep someone from getting ripped off? Thank You
  20. Which Line 6 Home Recording/Practice Set-Up is Best? (For recording metal/rock music) Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone has an opinion on this... It's been a while having lost all my equipment 4 years ago right when my band was very active. But right now I'm looking to get a home setup where I can easily record and practice. Nothing crazy or fancy, but something I can setup fairly quickly or take with me, but also something that will allow me to produce and record demos for my metal/nu-metal band, Caidema (http://www.facebook.com/caidemaband). I'm really interested in a direct recording But I also know that just mic'ing an amp can be much better. After a lot of research for my budget ($300) I've been looking at the Line 6 POD UX1 and the POD UX2. I'm Leaning more towards the Line 6 POD UX1 more than the other. What I'm not sure about is if if I should go with the UX1, or one of these: Line 6 POD 2.0, POD XT, or Pocket POD. All I need is to be able to plug my guitar and headphones into it (without an amplifier) and be able to practice whenever, wherever (and not lollipop off the neighbors.) I also need to be able to turn on my computer, set everything up, load up the PODfarm, audacity and record my guitar, vocals, etc. I have $300 to get what I need for the setup, required cables and wires, and microphone if possible. Down the line I'll buy more equipment, but for now I just need a simple "I live on my grandfather's couch" setup. Just not sure which one of those I should go with. OR would it be better to go with my other option: buy a 15-30w Line 6 spider amp, buy a microphone to mic the amp, and buy a different USB Audio Interface. (All for under $300 somehow) What do you guys think? Line 6 POD Studio UX1 or Line 6 POD 2.0, Line 6 PODxt, POD Pocket (Or if there is any other product I don't have listed please let me know) • Line 6 POD Studio UX1 (with Podfarm) • Line 6 POD 2.0 • Line 6 Pocket Pod (used)
  21. hi there, i am trying to play my guitar on the macbook pro using pod farm 2.5 and guitar link ucg102 to connect the guitar to the mac, the problem is when i open the stand-alone pod farm and i select the ucg as my input device and the the macbook speaker as output and i apply the setting, i hear nothing, there is no signal... nothing and when i come back to the preferences, i then find as in the second picture, that the selected settings from before are blank now! and i have to select again! where is the problem exactly? ps: pod farm as a plugin is working fantastically in garabeband and logic pro!
  22. So, I use FL Studio a large amount, and I wanted to record a guitar line. I knew that my brother owned a GX (and a guitar, and POD Farm), and after discovering that POD Farm comes in VST-form as well, I was ecstatic. I immediately placed the VST onto FL Studio after I had sorted out some problems with not being able to detect input into the normal POD Farm. Having set up everything correctly (to my knowledge), I tested it out, and, lo and behold, I could hear input from the GX into the mixer and out through the master, but it was as if the sound passed right through the POD Farm without anything happening to it. The Input and Output monitors did not spike when I played, and no effects (e.g., amp, distortion, EQ, etc.) changed the sound. So, to quote Derpy Hooves, "I just don't know what went wrong!" Can anybody help?
  23. Hi I upgraded my POD Farm 1 tot 2.56 but I can't get all the amps. There comes an error and it sais I have to open the license manager, so I did but nothing happend. I don't no realy what to do to 'activate' it or whatever. I made a screen shot from what it happening on my screen. This is what I get when I open POD Farm 2.56: And then when I click on 'License manager' this is what I get: What do I need to do?? Help
  24. I got POD Farm a while ago with my UX2, but it has always had a bad sound. It sounds like it's being played through one of those little 9V-battery-powered amps, rather than a professional, high quality amp, even when the volume is turned up. No matter how much I turn up the gain (I've even boosted my treble to the max and cut the low-mids out), it still sounds like it's muffled, and it sounds really bad. Even when I plug the cable into it and it makes the buzzing sound that usually happens, even that sounds muffled. It sounds like I'm plugging it into a $15 interface rather than a professional guitar amplifier. NOTICE: I play different songs on YouTube that have the same settings as I use, and the songs I listen to there have a high-quality tone. So I'm almost certain it's not the speakers. HERE IS MY EQUIPMENT: -MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.8.5) PROCESSOR: 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MEMORY:3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM -Creative Inspire T3300 Speakers (They have a 1/8" input jack that I connect to the "headphones" input on the UX2 using an adapter) -High-quality guitar cable -Agile Interceptor Pro 930 with 30" scale and active pickups -This guitar is HIGH-QUALITY and has a very bright tone, and it should have one on POD Farm, but it doesn't. Is there a reason for the tone sounding really bad? Are there settings on my computer or something that I can change? OR could I upgrade my sound card?
  25. Français Deutsch The Line 6 Guitar Amp within Reason can only handle single tone presets, there is no way to load a POD Farm 2 Dual Tone preset into a single Line 6 Guitar Amp device. However, if you were to split the Dual tones and save each tone as its own individual preset, you can load each preset into it's own Line 6 Guitar Amp within Reason and put then together using a Combinator device with mixer. Just select a Dual Tone you would like to use within the Standalone version of POD Farm 2 and click the 'DUAL' button to the right of the preset name at the top of the window and select 'Remove TONE B' first, then, select FILE>SAVE AS... to save the new single preset with 'Tone A' added at the end of the preset name. Next, reload the original Dual Tone, click the 'DUAL' button once again and select 'Remove TONE A', then select FILE>SAVE AS... to save this single tone preset with 'Tone B' added at the end of the preset name. Now, within Reason, you can create a Combinator, then a Mixer, and 2 Line 6 Guitar Amp devices, each with one of these new presets loaded into the device (Tone A in one, Tone B in the other), and summed together again with another mixer.
