  1. Does anyone have access to a FBV 3 Disassembly/Reassembly Instruction or Diagram?
  2. Hi does. Anyone know for sure if I can control my rack mounted pod hd pro x using the fbv3 version foot controller?
  3. I have an FBV3 pedalboard connected to a HD PRO X effects processor. I see that individual FXs are assigned to different FS footswitches, depending on the particular preset. Put another way, depending on which preset is being used, different footswitches have to be stomped to turn on / off or control for example the distortion effect. I would rather have a global FS assignment across all presets, that for example could say that the Distortion effect is ALWAYS controlled by for example footswitch FS4. That way I could label the FBV3 footswitches with the FX effects each switch would always control - seems reasonable and a lot easier in a live situation. Is this possible? Am I missing something here?
  4. Hi all. Bought a brand new FBV 3 for my son's Spider III 150HD. All compatibility documents seem to show full compatibility. Pedal is fully functional EXCEPT all presets save instead of switching. I am completely baffled. When pressing each button on the FBV3 (i.e. A, B, C or D) the display reads "saving" and saves the current patch to it. Simple right? Well, when pressing any and all of the buttons, they always save....never switch. I am obviously missing something simple....I hope? I have documented the issue in a YouTube vid here: https://youtu.be/fgqimL1-Bgw Thanks in advance for any help!!
  5. Hello ! I wonder if the fbv 3 work (in USB or MIDI) with the helix cause the controller for the helix do not have a pedal expression... Thanks in advance !
  6. Hi folks, struggling to motivate myself with the Spider Jam amp I have. Firstly, I got it free (unexpectedly) with a second hand guitar I bought; secondly, I got quite excited when I researched info and reviews about it. However, it’s volume control seems to act like a Fender amp, i.e. barely audible 1-2 or 1-3, then effing loud beyond that. Its cleans are ok, where they are clean and not subject to modulation, except the ‘blues - green’ which is excellent. The presets are pretty crap except 50s/60s songs, and those are guitar-dependant for authenticity - everything else sounds very flat or hair-metal inspired. However, in order to fix this you have to deep dive through menus (scant info in either manual downloaded; videos online more like infomercials). This is where my biggest problem lies: the cost of a new and under warranty, never mind mint condition used, fbv3 or fbv shortboard mk2 foot controller is ridiculous for what they are, and almost begs the question of whether to ditch the old tech and buy a Positive Grid Spark, or go for the foot controller (which one works best?) and persevere with the SJ? Open to the floor...
  7. i bought a fbv3. I downloaded the app from the site and did the 1.1 update after which I did the 1.2 update but it lasted for an entire night. not seeing the end of the update process, I disconnected the USB cable during the update process. now the fvb3 no longer works even if I reconnect the USB cable. what should I do?
  8. Been searching for anyone who has used the FBV3 in daylight, and how they are using it so they can see the led display. Works great inside, or at night but use this thing is daylight, and forget about it. You cant see anything. Its worthless during daylight hours. Anyone have any solutions or suggestions to this issue? ANY suggestions are appreciated, as I cannot find anyone that has yet to mention how they are using it during daylight hours. Please help if you can. Thanks
  9. Hi All I find conflicting information about compatibility of Amplifi units (75 in my case) and the FBV3 pedal. I understand the limitation with the led color. I believe the advantage of this pedal over the Express FBV Express is that will allow me to switch banks so I have access to all 100 patches instead of just 4. What I still cant figure out is that IF the 5 FS switches (asignable function switches) in the FBV3 actually work with Amplifi to switch ON/OFF effects like stomps, modulator, delay, etc. Could someone clarify this for me before deciding to order one? Thanks in advance Yon
  10. Hi there (LINE 6)- I bought a Firehawk 1500 with FBV3 foot pedal about a year ago, I have loved the purchase - the amp has a great range of sound and kicks on any previous amp that I have had previously. I also like that I am able to use the Firehawk Remote app to modify sounds. That said - I have issues with the Firehawk Remote app because it doesn't allow me to move the Reverb before the FX LOOP in the graphic effects routing screen. I have an external looper with digital drum kit that inevitably has to be before the Reverb as I switch between guitar effects causing the drums to sound different on every change. Very annoying. LINE 6 - Could you update the Firehawk REMOTE so that the FX LOOP can be at the end of the router or at least after the LOOPER? Please??? As you can see in my image - the REVERB can only be moved to one location and I want to be able to have it after the AMP but before the FX LOOPER. As you can see in my graphic the FX LOOPER can only be moved backward in the sequence. Also - are there software updates for both the Firehawk 1500 and the FX REMOTE?
  11. Im using a fbv3 pedal with spider v60. Bought both 2019. Using the looper. I layed down my first loop and when cycled back to the beginning there was an extremely loud POP! So loud i was concerned it would damage the speaker. Its done this on several occasions though not all the time. I dont know if its a short in the loop function footswitch or perhaps caused from static electricity. Im mostly using it on carpet. I moved it to a hard floor for a couple of hours and no pop but im not certain thats it. On carpet the pop isnt consistent either. I might loop several times no problem, but then POP! Im wondering if anyone elese has experienced this with the fbv3 or similar gear. I wish i knew the answer before i go to the trouble of returning it to Sweetwater.
  12. Story time... The expression pedal on my FBV3 died. I was performing a firmware update and afterwards it just stopped working. I thought it was too much of a coincidence so I tried reverting back to the previous version and it didn't come back to life. The thing is out of warranty anyway so I took off the bottom panel to have a look. See the attached photo... The expression pedal works by having an LED (D1 in the photo) illuminating a white flag that moves closer and further away as you operate the pedal. A light sensor (Q1 in the photo) then detects the change in light level reflected by the flag. I can tell the sensor is working because shining a torch on it caused a corresponding affect on the POD volume effect level. So I it's the little surface mount LED that has blown. The fact that it didn't visibly light up could have been due to being infra red but, no, it's blown. The whole expression pedal module is on its own small PCB so I contacted UK Yamaha service to see if they could send me a new expression pedal PCB. The only thing they could offer was for me to send the complete unit to them and they would replace the whole PCB set at a cost of £142 ($185). A whole new FBV3 in the UK is £176 ($230) so that wasn't a good option. So I ordered a pack of 10 surface mount LEDs from an eBay supplier and replaced the blown one. Expression pedal restored! Cost? £1.75 for the pack of 10 so 17.5p ($0.23) Now, I'm not saying that connecting the FBV3 to my PC to update the firmware was the cause of the LED blowing... but the coincidence does seem pretty suspicious... Michael.
  13. This is a project I've been messing around with. It lets you really open up the possibilities of your FBV3 and /or FBV shortboard MkII. It allows for full color functionality of FBV3 as well. It requires some basic know-how with an Arduino at present, though with very little effort on Line 6's part, that may not be necessary in the future. Check it out: https://github.com/kquann/FBV_MIDI
  14. Hallo, I purchased an FBV3 pedal to control my Amplify. It works great and the midi controll software is easy to use too. Since Amplify has no looper and there is no easy way to integrate a classic external looper, I thought maybe I can connect both, Amplify AND computer and use a software looper controlled by FBV pedal. Can I switch FBV3 back to control Amplify mode while the USB cable is attached? Thank for any advice and/or oppinionon the topic. Yours recoder

  16. Just noticing that the FBV3 up and down buttons do not seem to light up for anything, even if plugged in as USB and assigned as CC toggle switches. Line 6, did you put LEDs behind these switches?
  17. Here are the controls for the FBV III when using it with a Spider Jam. FS1 - Turns on Recording Mode (see the manual for detailed info on recording) FS2 - Boost ON/OFF FS3 - FX1 (Chorus, Phaser, Tremolo) FS4 - FX2 (Delay, Tape Echo, Sweep Echo) FS5: Reverb ON/OFF When using the FBV3 with your Spider Jam, make sure you have the latest flash memory (v1.02) installed for your FBV controller. You'll find the Line 6 Updater located here: http://line6.com/software/ Download and install Line 6 Updater, then connect your controller to your Mac or PC with a standard USB cable. Line 6 Updater will ask you to login, and then run the latest update for the controller.
  18. I have a question that I hope I can get a quick response too, do you still have the FBV3 pedal board? If so, do you have a button under the volume foot pedal that clicks on and off for the wah effect? I have the board, but where that button should be is sealed off, with a steal fastner. I have contacted LINE 6 and where I bought it, but curious to know if other users have this feature? As advertised? I appreciate any insight you have on it, thanks, Roland
  19. I have a ticket opened with support but was wondering if anyone else is having this issue... I am using a Spider V 240 with FBV3 and the Mac and/or IOS App connected via a Relay G10T. Issue occurs using either app or none (using the amp controls only with no apps connected). Very easy to get volume to 0% or 100% (min and max work as expected - but it seems like I have to put the EX-1 to almost 40-50% to gat any volume at all - then it kinda jumps around a bit and settles. Once pedal is depressed to about 60-70% there is no further increase in volume. There seems to be about a 30% range of pedal adjustment in the middle where actual volume changes are heard, and it is extremely difficult to get the volume where I want it to be. Always either too loud or too soft. Really difficult to adjust volume and it “jumps" around. If I assign an effect to the EX-1 the volume seems to work OK on the built in pedal - but the effect percentage “jumps†too quickly using the EX-1. I also have an Amplifi 150 with an FBV Shortboard MKII connected with a cable - the issue does not seem to be as bad there when I connect the EX-1 to the MKII on the Amplifi - but still difficult to adjust volume. I have re-flashed the FBV III and the Spider V.
  20. Using the Spider V 240 with FBV3 and I I’m trying to loop some riffs over the drum loops. Every time I do I notice my loop will unsync from the drum loop pretty drastically. Are the drum loops all in time to a click when they were recorded or do they vary ever so slightly in tempo? The only other thing I can figure is that my timing is way off with hitting the looper on the FBV3.
  21. Does THE FBV3 work w/ a Veta II HD Head? Does it at least with patches? Anyone know?
  22. Besides the lack of color customization with the FBV3...what else is 'challenging' or 'wrong' with it? I saw one poster say the Tuner on it was absolutely terrible. I also read that patch switching was slow? I also read that FX/patches don't enable until switch release (instead of press).... Is anyone happy with this thing? The reason I ask is because I just ordered one and I think I'm already regretting it. I am in the situation where I might just order the firehawk FX instead because its the amplifi 'brain' plus proper switching, etc. for way less money than the Amplifi and FBV3 together.
  23. Hi i have a bran new pod hd pro x and a fbv3. the fbv3 works for about 5 min then all the light on it turn off and the function light turns red and it locks up. Any ideas as to whats going on?
  24. Look that pretty FBV 3... easily the most appealing MIDI foot controller out there. But they have again missed the opportunity to have the best MIDI foot controller by omitting MIDI DIN connections. You still can get a MIDI-USB to MIDI-DIN converter as the Kenton MIDI USB Host MKII but... at 125€. A very expensive price for a device that only does one thing. But .. what would have been the supplement in the price of the FBV3 if already included MIDI DIN In/Out? Probably just a few dollars. At least they are considering adding the possibility of changing the color of the LEDs, based on the proposal I made in ideascale. But it bothers me a lot to have to spend 125 € extra on a fcking USB converter due to a bad design decision, which in addition they have already committed many times, again and again, with all those prior FBVs. All this could also be applied to the Helix controller, of course. Here the case is even more blatant, because it can not even be used as a USB MIDI controller. Guys, have you seen the sad panorama regarding MIDI foot controllers? Old models such as the Boss FC-300 or the Yamaha MFC10, expensive and limited. Or other very expensive artifacts offered by esoteric brands... When you have the one (or two) that could be the best MIDI foot controler in the market, only if you add MIDI DIN inputs and outputs. You also missed the IOS connectivity by ommiting a direct standard 9V AC connector. (as the ipad cannot feed enough juice to the FBV3 thru USB) Why, Line 6, WHY? What strange reasoning has led you to omit such things?

    POD HD series and FBV3

Although the FBV 3 is fully compatible with the POD HD, POD HD Pro, and POD HD Pro X, the footswitch labels do not line up with the corresponding functions as compared to the FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV 3 has been redesigned and it no longer has a Function 2 footswitch. What previously was assigned to the Function 2 switch on the Shortboard MKII is now done with FS 1 (Set List Select Mode On/Off) on the FBV3. The footswitches that were labeled Stomp, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb from the Shortboard are now FS 2 - FS 5 on the FBV3. Function 1 (Looper Mode On/Off) remains the same between both pedals. Also, when assigning stompboxes to footswitches, the POD will not correlate to the FBV 3, it will be off by one. So FS 1 on the Pod corresponds with FS 2 on the FBV3, and FS 2 on the POD is now FS 3, etc. See the figure below for an example.
