  1. Table of Contents · General · Device Compatibility · Finding the AMPLIFi Remote App an Android device · Firmware updates · Streaming Music and Tone Searching/Matching · User Interface General Q: Are you really finally releasing AMPLIFi Remote for Android users? A: Yes, it's true! You asked, we delivered. Q: When will it be available? A: We released AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 on October 28th, 2014. You can check our website and follow us on twitter @line6 for the latest announcements. Q: Is AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 a free update? A: Yes. You can download AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 at no charge. Device Compatibility Q: Are there any functional changes to the AMPLIFi Remote App on Android? A: AMPLIFi Remote has no functional differences between iOS and Android. All the same features are available. Q: Which specific Android devices will be supported when AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 is released? A: Generally speaking, although not tested or qualified, nearly any Android phone, tablet or phablet should work, provided it is able to run the required Android OS version. AMPLIFi 150, 75, 30, TT and FX100 is known to be compatible with the following Android™ devices: · Samsung Galaxy S5 · Samsung Galaxy S4 · Samsung Galaxy S III · Samsung Galaxy Note Pro · Samsung Galaxy Note II · HTC One M8 · HTC One M7 · Motorola Moto X · Google Nexus 7 · Amazon Kindle Fire HDX · ASUS MeMo Pad · Asus Fonepad · ASUS PadFone · LG G2 · LG Optimus · LG F7 · LG Nexus 4 Q: Which Android OS versions are supported? A: AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 requires a device running Android OS version 4.2 or above, and built-in Bluetooth capability. Even if a device is not listed in the supported device list above, we encourage users to try AMPLIFi Remote on their device if it meets the minimum requirements. We will update this list as additional devices are found to have an optimal experience. Q: Why are you not qualifying earlier Android OS versions? A: The Android developer portal indicates that a majority of Android devices are on Android 4.2 or above. Customers with earlier Android OS versions should check with their carrier or device manufacturer to find out if there is an upgrade available for their device to get to Android 4.2 or above. Q: Does AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 support double-byte characters as metadata? A: Tones with double-byte character names and metadata are not currently supported for tone matching. Q: Can I use AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 on Android devices with customized UI on non-English OS, for instance Sony Xperia or Sharp Aquos? A: These devices are not specifically supported at this time, however we do feel that they would work, although will not be fully localized. Q: Is AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 compatible with Windows Phone / Tablets at this time? A: There is currently no plan to support for ARM or x86-based Windows phones/tablets. Q: Will the same app work on all AMPLIFi products? A: Yes, the AMPLIFi Remote App will work with any member of the AMPLIFi Device family. Q: Is AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 also available for iOS? A: Yes. AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 provides minor maintenance with the overall app, but mostly AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 is for Android support. Some customers with iOS devices will upgrade to AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 without any noticeable differences. Q: The AMPLIFi product box only has iOS compatible devices printed on it. Are there different versions of AMPLIFi hardware sold specifically for iOS and Android? A: No, there are not different hardware versions. Whichever AMPLIFi hardware you get will support both AMPLIFi for iOS and for Android. As long as you have the AMPLIFi Remote App 2.0 on a supported device, your AMPLIFi hardware will work. Finding the App on an Android Device Q: What is the name of the app and where can I download it? A: The app is called AMPLIFi Remote on Play Store (also referred to as Google Play Store) and the Amazon Store. Firmware Updates Q: Do I have to update the AMPLIFi device firmware for Android to work? How can I update the firmware without an iOS device? A: Yes. A firmware update (2.0) is required. We will be providing a Windows PC-based firmware Updater called AMPLIFi Utility at www.line6.com/software, which requires a USB connection to your AMPLIFi device. When customers open the AMPLIFi Remote app on their Android device for the first time, there is a slideshow that points the customer to the Line 6 website to update their AMPLIFi hardware. Customers will download a driver and update utility and should follow the instructions to update their specific AMPLIFi hardware. Once started, running the firmware update will take between 2 - 3 minutes. iOS users will be able to update their firmware as is typically done with iOS devices via Bluetooth from the AMPLIFi Remote App. Q: If I have to upgrade the firmware, will it stop working with iOS devices or will I be able to switch between both? A: The update simply adds a new way for AMPLIFi to communicate over Bluetooth, so it will continue to work with iOS devices as well. Q: Is this the first time the USB port is being used to update AMPLIFi firmware? A: Yes Streaming Music and Tone Searching/Matching Q: Which music libraries are supported on Android OS? A: The AMPLIFi Remote App can access music that stored locally on the device, or on external SD card storage, that has been transferred to the device from a computer. Please use the default method provided by your device manufacturer to store music onto your Android device. Q: What about songs I have purchased or downloaded from Google Play Store (aka Play Music)? A: In order to access music purchased from the Google Play Store (aka Play Music), we recommend that you download it to your computer and transfer it to your device. The AMPLIFi Remote App will not match the tones of music streaming from Google Play Store (Play Music). Q: What kind of audio file format does AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 support? A: .mp3, .m4a, .mp4, .acc, .3gp, .flac. Formats that use id3 tags can be used for tone matching. Q: How does the AMPLIFi Remote App match tones? OR From where does AMPLIFi Remote App match tones? A: If your music is properly tagged with Artist, Album, and Song Titles, the Line 6 servers compare and sort publicly shared tones that match that particular song. Q: Can I edit tones on my computer using AMPLIFi Remote 2.0? A: No. At this time you cannot edit tones on a computer using the AMPLIFi Remote App. Q: What connectivity is required to play back music and tone searching and matching? A: A Bluetooth connection is required for streaming and editing. WiFi or Cellular Data is used for cloud-based features such as accessing Tone Searching and Tone Matching. Although, you will be able to access editing and manage your device-stored presets while offline. User Interface Q: Will the AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 GUI look the same on an Android device as on iOS devices? A: AMPLIFi Remote has been developed natively for Android using Java, so there are some very subtle differences. Q: How will the AMPLIFi Remote 2.0 GUI scale onto the different size screens? A: We've designed it to adjust spacing and scaling for lots of various screen sizes and pixel depths.

  3. Having trouble getting my fx100 set up. The device pairs with the fx100 but nothing I do in the app affects the tone in the fx100. It keeps telling me to update the firmware. I have done this and it says successful, but it still continues to say version 1 and that I should update. I have reset the fx100 to factory settings and calibrated the way pedal. Any suggestions before I send it back?
  4. Some weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I aquired a Relay G30 set. Since I live in Argentina, I'm not quite sure if they are just out of the oven. Since I have an important gig this Sunday, and I bought the G30 specially for this type of gigs and I wanted to know the firmware version, so I could use it in RF1 mode (I've read it's safer). I made the 1-6 x3 switch change but I've only got a 1 green blink response, which is no different than what I get when the switch reaches to 6 or 1 in this process. I've made this several times, with the receiver turned on and off as well. If I should trust the results, it seems my G30 has firmware version 1.00, but I'm not quite sure. Is there any other way to check the firmware version? So far at home and at rehearsals it has been working excellent, and I wouldn't want to change to RF2 accidentally so I haven't followed the RF change process. I also check for Wi-Fi routers with my smartphone to select the channel I'm going to use to avoid interference, according to the chart given in the Knowledge Base.
  5. There has got to be a better way to plug in my HD500 and JTV 89 and edit. Yesterday I was in the studio and had some clicking issues when changing patches and I also wanted to write a DADGAD patch for my JTV. So when I got home... I started Monkey and had to update several things. I forget exactly what I needed to update, but it took a while. Then I needed to open Workbench. So I opened the program and realized that it doesn't work with JTV, (but I need to keep it because I still have a Variax 500.) So I opened Workbench HD. I can't find the JTV Interface and cords. I search for about fifteen minutes and it is where I looked the first time! Oh yeah, I have to have a 1/4 cord plugged in to the guitar jack. Oh no, my battery is dead. I have to charge it overnight... Today, battery charged and ready to go. Everything is plugged in. I open Workbench. It seems to be working so I do some edits and I get a message saying it can't send the preset to the guitar... I go to Line 6 Support and do a search for the exact words of the error message and nothing comes up. I do another search and I'm searching within my current results, so I back out and try it again in the forum, in the knowledge base... Nothing. Am I the only one having this problem? So I try the "Error Code." No luck. I put my problem in my own words and finally get a result that seems to apply that isn't in Japanese or German. The guys ultimate solution was sending his guitar back and getting a new one!? Somewhere in the responses someone mentions a JTV firmware update. I go back to Monkey to see if I have the most current firmware for the guitar. Now the interface is only showing one green light and one red light. I unplug. I plug. I remove the battery. I put the battery back. Somehow I get Monkey to find the guitar. But in the process I realize that I'm now installing the midi interface, which I don't need, and it is telling me I'll need to reboot the computer to complete the installation. Rebooted and read to check Monkey! I have 2.0, I need 2.1. Now Monkey isn't recognizing my guitar again. I unplug. I plug. I remove the battery. I put the battery back. Two green lights! I update the guitar! I go to Workbench HD and it works! ...Almost 24 hours later. "Elegant and user friendly, this is not," said Yoda. I don't even remember why I wanted the DADGAD patch and I'm too frustrated to play even if I could remember. Then end result is fine. I'm a big Line 6 fan. Nice guitar, great versatility, but there has to be a better way to integrate all these updates. I'll bet you Line 6 guys know I'm right and you probably wish it was better as well. I'll bet you'd have a lot more customers. $$$

  7. Good afternoon, I'm a proud owner of a PODxt Live for many years; It worked like a charm until a few weeks ago. Starting from the beginning, a year ago I broke the USB connector; Almost a month ago I decided to finally fix the USB port, so I changed the connector to a new one (I'm experienced with electronics), when I turned on the POD to try out the new USB connector, the POD simply wouldn't start; It flashed all the LED's and maintained them on, a brick with lights basically. The USB works just fine, I can access to the POD via PC but the Flash Memory is just not accessible; I checked every internal part on the POD, all the values are normal and nothing seems to be "broken". Is it possible that anyone can get me the Flash Memory full dump file of a PODxt Live so I can reprogram mine? Sorry for my bad English, Best Regards.

    Dt25 Midi Issue

Hi to all , I just purchased a DT25 head and I am trying to connect it to Monkey to see what firmware I have. I first tried using a cheap Chinese ebay cable and I was getting no lights on the midi side. I went out today and bought a hosa midi to usb converter and I am having the same issue. No lights on the Midi side, just on the usb side. I connected Midi in of converter to Midi out on the amp and vice versa for the Out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

    M5 Upgrades, Additions.

I got me an M5 stompbox for christmas (nice!). The unit is even superior than the POD Farm I have at home in some of the effects it contains, but I miss one particular distortion called "Bass Overdrive". It's the only overdrive with rich low frecuencies in the whole "overdrive-dirtortion" zone. For bass players is the "Always On" kind of effect, and for metal guitars that require powerful bass is a must have on the L6 arsenal. A suggestion for future firmware updates. Who'd like to have that too in your M5? Chalo
  10. I was just thinking about my pedal tonight and thought I would drop in and see if there has been any newer Firmware/s added for my M9 pedal. I see the line 6 Monkey keeps updating, but my question is: 1. Should I load the older M9 Firmware Version 2.01.00 Then Version 2.02.00 then the Version 2.04.00 OR Does the latest Version 2.04.00 have all the previous fixes for the pedal?
  11. Hopefully improving the acoustic guitar sounds further.
  12. Hi - Is the Firmware update v2.0 necessary if using an HD500 with the DT25 amp? I don't want the expense of MIDI cables and the extra work involved if I get everything through the HD 500 anyway. Cheers.

And Today's Pod Hd500 Lesson Is...

When the Monkey says to back up your presets because you might lose them in a Firmware update, they ARE NOT kidding. :( Thank goodness this isn't a production server....

I Knew It Was Too Good To Last...

So today I go to get into POD HD Edit and the program tells me I have to update. No problem I think, and head over to the monkey. Sure enough, it says my firmware needs to be updated, and it can't determine my current version but wants me to update to firmware 2.10. I click update and that's when the fun began. I got this message: "Update timed out waiting for response from device" Well $%^... So I went through it again (and again and again etc...) and still, no joy. I downloaded a file called p18.phf and got the same results. Along the way: - It informed me my patches may not work and to consult some place for more info. I'm not far enough along to be worried that much over presets yet. - I tried saying DON't save the patches - I tried saving the patches first - I tried from the Internet - I tried from that file - I got REALLY pissed off because I wanted to work on what I was wanting to do, and not screw with computers today. I code the things for a living! So anyone have a vague clue where to go from here, short of ditching the whole thing? I am half serious too...my "regular" guitars, amps, effect pedals just work and don't require me to upload or download squat. I MIGHT have to change a string or a tube. Maybe. But I NEVER have to screw with a computer to get something done, ever.
  15. Im running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Ableton Live 8 Suite and having problems with the inputs with KB37. The device works well as an audio device, plays beats and audio, and responds to midi (keyboard works), but I can't get the inputs working. The mics and guitars connected are simply not responding, and the analogue volumemeters don't move at all. When I try to update the Firmware with latest version of Monkey, on Flash memory installation it gives error "Code 80007204 Hardware device failed to enter update mode" (when I replug the device in the part instructed). If I don't replug, but press cancel instead, it starts to download and install the software but gives error "Code 80007209 Firmware version verification failed." I have tried different ports and cables. I have also re-installed all possible apps, drivers, firmware, and even monkey itself. In Monkey it says that the version of Flash memory of Firmware is "unknown", though the latest seems to be 1.03. (I wonder if I could somehow get some older versions of flash memory firmware and try if they'd work?) Heelp! Here are some screenshots:

Version 2.0 Firmware Update > Help!

Hello, I'm new to the forum and to Line 6 products. I just bought a used DT-25 from GC and would appreciate some assistance regarding the version 2.0 Firmware Update. I also own a HD500X & JTV-69 HSS if that helps with assisting me. I'm really a novice when comes to MIDI, DT-25 & POD HD500X and ask that your assistance be as detailed and complete as possible. I really appreciate it! How/where can I find which firmware version is currently installed in the DT-25? If I am satisfied which amps are assigned to voicings 1-4, do I really need to do this firmware update? Do I need to buy a MIDI to USB cable, and two MIDI cables to do this firmware update (if I find it hasn't been done)? If I do need to buy the cables, where would I find a cheap MIDI to USB (the one I found on Sweetwater is $50!) Is there any other device, cable, etc I also need to buy? In the DT Firmware Installation Guide I find the following confusing... 'Connect your MIDI interface to your computer, and ensure that it functions properly. Then connect your MIDI interface to your DT amp via the two MIDI cables. The MIDI “Out†of your interface should connect to the DT amp’s MIDI “Input,†and the MIDI “Output†of the DT amp should return to the MIDI “Input†jack on your MIDI interface.' The statement above is completely Chinese to me! What is the 'MIDI Interface' (is this another thing I have to buy + the cables)? And how would I connect it to my computer? Thanks in advance for all who assist me. Dr. C
