Hi All, I am writing you to propose the creation of a new footswitch mode which I believe would be very useful, especially for rehearsal or gigs. I usually use just a few presets (around 8), each including a few “direct access switches†such as volume boost on/off, modulation on/off that I often use. In order to do this I need to run my mighty Helix in STOMP footswitch mode. Unfortunately, this means that I have to step on BANK UP or DOWN every time I have to change the preset, in order to temporarily enter PRESET mode. This is not very comfortable as I have to always stomp two times to select a new preset. My proposal is to create a new mode, “MIX MODEâ€, where · FS2, FS3, FS4 and FS5: correspond to FS2, FS3, FS4 and FS5 footswitch of the STOMP MODE, · FS8, FS9, FS10 and FS11: correspond to FS8, FS9, FS10 and FS11 of the PRESET mode. This will allow the player to easily: 1. recall a new preset, by simply stomping on FS8, FS9, FS10 and FS11 (just one stomp) 2. activate/deactivate the preset’s FS2, FS3, FS4 and FS5 direct access switches using FS2, FS3, FS4 and FS5 (just one stomp) 3. Scroll through the banks by using FS1 and FS7 (just one stomp) This behavior would be similar to traditional MIDI controllers, such as MARK-L FX 25 ACE: it has a row of footswitches to recall presets and another one for direct access switches. What do you think of this idea?

Hi, I tried to update the firmware of FBV3 from 1.00.00 to 1.01.00 using Line 6 Updater. However, Line 6 Updater crashed after around 15 minutes and now FBV does not work anymore. It does not power up at all, neither when connected to Firehawk 1500, nor when connected to my notebook via USB. Has anyone else witnessed a similar situation? Any advice? Should I return it for servicing? I have raised a support ticket with Line 6 and am waiting for their response. Best regards. Paweł Szewczyk

At the risk of sounding didactic I would say to all Helix users out there: Update your Helix to the latest firmware!!!!! I see a lot of posts from users with issues or questions who are still on older versions of the firmware. Do yourself a favor, go out and download the latest version of the Helix App installer and update your Helix. This should be the first thing you do upon receiving your Helix after perhaps a basic functionality check. It gives you all of the latest models, effects, presets, bugfixes, and enables you to use the latest version of the editor. It puts us all on the same playing field for making recommendations on how to get the best sound as well as identifying bugs. It will save you hours or days troubleshooting issues that have been fixed or trying to figure out why a preset you made in an early firmware version will not load properly. I know some folks have found it challenging on certain versions of Mac OS or with certain USB hardware but I encourage you to find someone with a computer that enables you to get on the latest firmware version, and the bonus is the additional features that have been added along the way. I know for many I am stating the obvious with a profound sense of discovery but if you haven't upgraded to the latest firmware yet, you are missing out and causing yourself needless headaches.

Had Helix a while now, but I purchased it right after 1.06.5 came out. Back then I received the unit, then updated the firmware, THEN started playing. I have the patience of a saint, lol. The problem is that back then I didn't have to worry about backing anything up, UNTIL NOW, and I'm terrified that I'm going to do something wrong and lose all my hard work. Today I did "export bundle" to a folder on my computer, then downloaded and installed all the newest software from Line 6 (1.10 firmware, 1.10 application, 1.78 driver (bug fix for Windows 7), 1.08 updater, and 1.11 application) per the instructions. I then did the "hold down footsitches 5&6 at power-on" thing, which evidently doesn't affect your current patches, setlists, or IR's. What does this procedure (the 5&6 footswitch thing) even do? After that, I (stupidly) proceeded to work on some patches for ergonomic reason (basically just moving some footswitches around and relabeling a few) and also reset my global eq to my liking. I assume at this point that the changes I just made were for nothing if I do the "hold down footswithes 7&8 at power-on" thing, in order to get the new factory presets that I don't have yet. Losing my most recent changes is not a huge deal, since I can easily redo them in a few minutes, but I'm terrified of not importing my bundle correctly. What is the procedure for this? Was export bundle even the right thing to do? How do you backup IR's? I did overwrite an existing bundle from when I first got the unit, cause I hadn't really created anything yet and was just curious as to what would happen, what the file name would be, etc., so I think I'm ok there. I just don't want to lose my patches that I have been tweaking for the past couple of months. Hope this all makes sense, and I'm so sorry to burden you tech-savvy gents with my meatheadedness. HELP!!!!

How To Update Relay G70/75 transmitter and receiver
Guest posted a article in Relay Wireless Products
This update can be performed with either a PC (on Windows 7 or Windows 8) or with a Mac (on OS X Mountain Lion, Mavericks, or Yosemite). A micro-USB cable (included with G70) is necessary to connect the device to be updated to the computer. Please note that a Line 6 account and password will also be required, in order to download the Updater app and to sign into the Updater app when launched. If you do not already have an account, you can create one at https://line6.com/login.html. Part 1: Installing the Line 6 Updater app: Visit line6.com and sign in using the appropriate account. Go to the downloads page at www.line6.com/software and download the Line 6 Updater app for Mac or Windows. Once the Line 6 Updater app is downloaded, double-click the file to install the app on the computer. You will be guided through the installation process. Once the app is successfully installed, proceed to Part 2 “ Updating a Relay TB516 G Transmitter. Part 2: Updating a Relay TB516 G Transmitter: 1. Launch the Line 6 Updater app. 2. Once the app is launched, enter your appropriate Line 6 username and password, and then click the Sign In button. 3. Connect the micro-USB cable to the computer, and connect the other end to the TB516 G transmitter that is to be updated. It is recommended that there are no batteries in the transmitter for the update process. The first time this step is performed may take up to two minutes, depending on the speed of a user's internet connection, as the machine will attempt to install a driver. Subsequent attempts of this step should occur instantaneously if the same USB port is used on the machine. The Relay TB516 G transmitter should now appear, as below: 4. Click on the Relay TB516 G Transmitter to select it 5. Click on the 'Update' button towards the right, at the very top of the list. 6. Click the 'Continue' button at the upper right 7. Click the 'Accept' button at the upper right. 8. Click the 'Next' button at the lower right of the above screen 9. Please confirm that 'Firmware Version 1.xx' is now displayed in this window. You may now disconnect the Relay TB516 G Transmitter. Click the 'Continue' button and you will be able to connect another device to update, as necessary. * Note: if the update process should fail for any reason during step 8, please try the following: Disconnect the Relay TB516 G from the micro-USB cable. Insert a pair of AA batteries. Power on the transmitter. After 5 seconds, power off the transmitter. Remove the batteries and connect the transmitter to the micro-USB cable as in Step 3 of the update instructions, and continue with the update procedure. Part 3: Updating a Relay G70 Receiver: 1. Launch the Line 6 Updater app (if the app is already open, proceed to the next step). 2. Once the app is launched, enter the appropriate Line 6 username and password, click the 'Sign In' button. You will be brought to the following screen: 3. Connect one end of the micro-USB cable to a USB 2.0 port on the computer (hubs are not supported). 4. With the power switch of the G70 receiver in the '0' (off) position, connect the unit to the other end of the micro-USB cable. 5. Put the power switch of the G70 receiver in the '1' (on) position. The receiver's audio LED should appear solid red and the 'LINE 6' splash screen should appear on the unit's display: * on some USB ports with some computers, it has been observed that the receiver may not remain on the 'LINE 6' screen. Should this happen, please put the power switch back to '0' and then back to 'I' again and repeat this if necessary until the device remains on the 'LINE 6' screen, as above. 6. The Relay G70 Receiver icon should now appear within the app 7. Click on the Relay G70 Receiver to select it 8. Click on the 'Update' button towards the right, at the very top of the list. 9. Click the 'Continue' button at the upper right 10. Click the 'Accept' button at the upper right. 11. Click the 'Next' button at the lower right 12. Please confirm that 'Firmware Version 1.xx' is now displayed in this window. You may now disconnect the receiver. Click the 'Continue' button and you will be able to connect another device to update, as necessary. * Note: if the update process should fail for any reason during step 12, please try the following: Put the Relay G70 Receiver's power switch into the '0' (off) position. Return to Step 5 and continue with the update procedure. If the updating process should fail for any reason, please follow these instructions: For the Relay TB516 G Transmitter: Please disconnect the transmitter from your computer's USB and close the Line 6 Updater app. Insert a pair of batteries into the transmitter. Power the transmitter on and leave it on for at least 5 seconds. Power the transmitter off. Remove the batteries from the transmitter. Reconnect the transmitter to your computer's USB. Launch the Line 6 Updater app again, sign in with your Line 6 username and password, and follow the instructions that appear to update your Relay TB516 G Transmitter. For the Relay G70 Receiver: Please disconnect the G70 receiver from your computer's USB and close the Line 6 Updater app. Reconnect the receiver to your computer's USB and make sure its power switch is in the 'I' (on) position. The receiver should display 'LINE 6' and this should remain on the display. If it does not, please disconnect the G70 receiver and then reconnect it to your computer's USB, so that you see it continues to display 'LINE 6'. In some cases, it is possible that this may take more than one attempt. Once the LINE 6 screen remains displayed on your G70, please launch the Line 6 Updater app again, sign in with your Line 6 username and password, and follow the instructions that appear to update your Relay G70 Receiver. -
Crazy question. I purchased a new POD HD500X from GC Sunday as in 5 days ago Feb 2016. When I first installed the necessary software from Line 6 (Monkey, Edit, drivers, etc.) and successfully connected my unit the screen in Line 6 Monkey said the firmware was version 1.00 - not 0.00 as if it didn't see it. So question, when did firmware 1.00 get released and did I really purchase a new unit or was it some old stock, in the back under the stairwell, waiting to see the light of day release? It did update to version 2.62.00. I had the same thing happen in Jan. 2010 when I purchased my first M13 and, due to many issues I discovered in the first 10 days) it had to be sent to Line 6 three weeks later at which time Line 6 (thank you Tony) sent me a brand new doubly inspected unit just out of production. So, back to firmware version. Anyone have an answer as to what firmware you had if and when you purchased a new HD500X in the past three months (Dec 2015 to Feb 2016)? Thanks, Dennis

As long as firmware updates involve doing global resets (9&10 footswitch reboot) which also clears out the IRs I have found I am presented with a bit of a problem. I export all my IRs at one time in a mass export before a firmware update to a fresh directory with nothing else in it, but when I use the Helix App and return to that directory to import them, they are stored in alphabetical order in the save directory in Windows. This means that when you go to do a mass import to reload them into the Helix after a global reset they appear by default in the import window in alphabetical order. This probably is not the order the IRs were loaded on your Helix. If you import them this way (alphabetical order) they will probably no longer correspond to the IRs you set up in your presets. This means your custom presets come up with the wrong IR loaded. The way to deal with this is when you open the IR import browse window in the Helix App, sort the IRs on date. Then select them all. This will allow you to import them all at one time in the same order you exported them (even though Windows may not display the time in milliseconds in the browse window, each successive IR saved in a mass export actually has a slightly later timestamp and Windows can sort on it). Perhaps other folks have a better solution but this one is working well for me. It would be great to have an "Export Setlist" in the IR section of the Helix App so this workaround wasn't necessary. However this method seems to work pretty well when you are dealing with a lot of IRs and don't want to have to re-import them one by one, and you also want them to go back into the same IR "slot"/position on the Helix that you exported from. Note: If the Helix app import browse window is not showing "Date" as one of the columns (this is the column you need to sort on), you can do the following. Right click on the directory with your IRs, choose "Properties", select the "Customize" tab, and then select "Documents" in the "Optimize this folder for" pulldown menu. This is the process for Windows 10, it should be similar in earlier Windows versions or even on the Mac.

Has anyone had success with their Helix communicating with their mac (for anything)? I am using 10.9.5. I have tried both Helix app 1.0.3 and the new line 6 updater and neither are showing a unit connected (via USB). I think this is a line 6 issue because under 'about this mac/more info/system report/USB/' it clearly shows a Helix unit connected to the 'USB hi-speed bus'---so it's not a bad cord or an Apple issue. Consequently I haven't upgraded to the newest firmware (still on 1.0.4) or checked out you alls tones.

I have two quick questions: 1. Is there a typical firmware/software release schedule for Helix? 2. Is there a mailing list that we can sign up for that will let us know when a new software update is available? Thanks!

Hey there! I have a Line 6 POD HD 500. I've been trying to connect it to my PC to record and edit and all those things. The problem's that the PC does not recognize the POD. I've already downloaded hundreds of support files and installed them and there's no response. So, as I went to the POD to the "System and I/O" screen, is shown that the "USB Firmware version is 0.00!" Is there anything I might do to solve this? I've tried with monkey and donwnloaded drivers but the POD is just not recognized. Thanks!

I've had my Helix for a short while and am loving the sound! But I find myself missing a few of the effect models from my old HD 500. Anybody else feel this way? So, I thought I'd ask; what models do you wish they would add in upcoming fimware updates (hopefully they look over these things)? I'm wishing they would put the boost/comp back; I'm just not getting the push out of the teletronix....and I wish they would put the Memory Man analog mod/delay on that they had on the hd500....the Line 6 version sounds like a flanger to me. So, if the DID look at these forums, and you COULD tell them what you wanted.....what would it be?

I have tried and re-tried but can't seem to get this done. My laptop runs win7. I've got Monkey at 1.71, updated the USB firmware to 1.04, re-booted both POD and laptop ad nauseum, even turned off my Norton... but whenever Monkey tries to update the FW, it thinks it's successful yet shows the driver at 4.2.5.1. My goal is to get my hd500 from 2.32 to 2.62, but I don't want to even attempt this if I can't even get the drivers to update. Anybody got any ideas? Also, when updating the POD Flash Memory, am I supposed to hold down a nav button and power it on somewhere in the process? THANKS (in advance)!

I loaded my custom presets from a Helix app v.1.02 backup, not a v.1.01 backup after yesterday's firmware upgrade to 1.04.1. Although the Release Notes for the new firmware specify the new version of the Helix app for the restore, they do not specify which version of the Helix app to do the backup with so I am not sure if this was ok. Could someone at Line6 please chime in and let me know if it was ok to restore my custom presets from a Helix app v.1.02 backup after the 1.04.2 firmware update . I would prefer not to spend days, weeks, tweaking my presets only to find out that something subtle went wrong with my restored custom presets because I was supposed to have reloaded them from a v.1.01 backup. Before I bother doing any more customizing of presets I need to know if I am going to have to reload them from the backup made by an earlier version of the Helix app. I really need this question answered to proceed happily down the upgrade road with my Helix. I have asked this question several times in several ways elsewhere, but alas, no response. I could open a trouble ticket but I think this detail would benefit everyone who is doing the update. So, what does a brother need to do to get a little help here? I know you guys are busy and I never expect a response directly from Line6 but you just issued a firmware update and inquiring minds want to know. Is a backup from either version of the Helix app ok as long as we use v.1.02 to do the restore, or, do we need a backup from a specific version of the Helix app? This detail could potentially impact many users. Please add some clarity here. Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm about to update my DT 50 212 soon, so I've been reading this old thread (and others): http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/89020/ Just wanted to check if I can do this update from my USB/MIDI keyboard controller (an AKAI MPK 61). It has both MIDI In and MIDI Out ports. Does anyone know if that would work? Or should I get a dedicated interface for this (something like that M-Audio Uno one)? If the keyboard works (hooked up to the computer via USB), then I'm assuming I'll need 2 MIDI cables connecting: DT 50 MIDI In -> AKAI Midi Out DT 50 MIDI Out -> AKAI MIDI In. Is that correct? Has anyone succeeded performing the firmware update from a keyboard controller before? I'm always afraid of doing these firmware updates on my Line 6 gear... I can't afford to "brick" my amp., since I'm very far from any Line 6 service center. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Lag time much better. Actually usable. Still getting a little noise on patch chances but has been lowered and might work for my next gig. THANK YOU... I'm gigging tomorrow night and this couldn't have come at a better time. Well maybe a few weeks ago would have been better. Ha...

Trying to use the PC utility to update the firmware, but Windows can't find a suitable driver. I'm running Win 7 SP2 x86. Look at the attached picture for the errors I'm getting. Where is the actual driver? I can try to point it to the actual driver in device manager, but I don't know where it would be.

It would be awesome if there were an adjustable frequency filter in the Smart Harmony effect that would allow the signal to pass un processed below the filter setting and processed above the setting. Is this possible?

Hello there, I'm having some troubles right after the 2.62 firmware update. (I did it today, the previous version was 1.30 I guess) My POD HD 500 doesn't work anymore, and everything was ok before the update. I tried to downgrade , but there is a communication error between the POD and the computer that wasn't there before. if I connect the pod on power and select any set, it crashes. And if I turn the Tunner on, a strange sound appears when I play he chords, and when I press any FS button, it crashes. Please, I need some help!
