I'm experiencing two issues in 2.53 that I'm pretty sure are NOT in my head: Issue experienced while programming presets with H9 being controlled via Helix MIDI for program changes, etc. - At times when switching between snapshots, all Distortion blocks will be turned on, when - previously on that Snapshot, specific Distortion blocks had been assigned/selected - MIDI Program Change messages being sent by Instant Commands on Snapshots are being changed/re-assigned. Most recent time it happened was when I was setting up a new Snapshot to send PC Instant command to select preset on the H9. Where, previously - Snapshots had been setup to send: Snapshot 1: PC 0 Snapshot 2: PC 0 Snapshot 3: PC 1 Snapshot 4: PC 2 After the new Snapshot (6) add been setup to send PC 9; all other Snapshots were now setup to send PC 1

As Spider V Firmware 1.05 Release Notes promises: "New Global setting: "Phones Mode" switches the headphone output between normal operation (Phone) and stereo line out (Line) for connecting to a mixer or audio interface without muting the speakers. In Line out mode, the headphone output is not affected by the position of the master volume, nor the presence of a cable inserted into the Phones jack. This is primarily for use on a Spider V that does not include XLR outputs."I upgraded firmware on my Spider V 60, but this does not work for me, mode "line" mutes speakers.

Hi, I recieived my AMPLIFi 75 amp yesterday and went about updating the firmware on it last night. After a good deal of frustation (The PC app kept failing to update) I managed to update it via my Mac but now I can't connect my android device, the bluetooth connects fine and the app is clearly seeing something as it says that the firmaware isn't up-to-date and so I can't us the app to make changes. I've checked on the Mac and it shows the amp firmware as definately being 2.6 and the phone app is too. The phone I am using is the Nexus 6P. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With the proviso that I haven't had a chance to do and explore this upgrade yet myself, I suspect a couple of cautions are in order. Full backup is essentially an extended version of the Bundle backup from previous version, which is great, but it looks like it has the same caveats... As has been discovered, and makes logical sense, restoring from a full backup after a firmware upgrade overwrites any new factory setlists or presets that came with the upgrade. For that reason, it would be great if Line 6 could provide the factory setlists as separate downloads. A corrupted preset can prevent you from being able to restore. In fact one of the biggest new features of 2.30 IMO is that it appears to detect at least some corruption when you do the export, so you know then to isolate which one and deal with it, instead of finding out when you really need to restore that your backup is unusable. I have no idea if it's actually doing any kind of on-the-fly inspection or testing, but my guess would be no, it simply tries to export, and goes off the rails if it hits something sufficiently unexpected, like software does. It's still great that it fails on export in some cases, but there may be other kinds of corruption that won't be detected until you import. For all those reasons, with prior versions I think many people did setlist and preset backups in addition to bundles. That's quite likely still wise. I don't mean to knock Line 6 or this upgrade, by all reports it seems awesome, can't wait to get there myself :)

Hi Is there any chance of a firehawk firmware and flash update for Windows Vista? Ive already spaffed all my money on this new pedal, and cant afford a Windows 7 pc to update. This renders all the fancy android app stuff useless. Alternatively, can the firmware be updated over and android phone's bluetooth connection? Thanks

So I haven't updated my Helix once since I bought it and I'm still on v1.04.3 firmware. How do I backup all my presets on Helix? - the new editor I downloaded just shows me a message saying that my firmware is out of date so does that mean I can't back it up there? and if I can't with the this version of the editor is it possible to find that editor version still somewhere to save all my presets/ factory restore my helix/ and then update and upload the backup to my helix? Thank you.

In the description here you find information on firmware update for the Helix: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/how-to-update-the-helixs-firmware-r776. If I understand this info correctly, this means that I need a running internet connection for the update. The problem is: There is no WiFi, nor any other internet connection in our band's rehearsal room whatsoever. And I'd hate to transport the helix more often than I have to, at least until I've got a flightcase for it. So my question is: Is there a way to download the firmware file and install it offline?

G70 will not update. Progress bar never gets beyond 80%, sometimes it times out with an error at 0% and everything in between. "Firmware Update Failed An error has ocurred. Please try again." Done this probably 50 times, downloaded the update locally and tried updating from there. No luck, no help. Any ideas?

Just got a brand new Helix LT and wanted to upgrade it to the latest and greatest. I downloaded the latest driver, updater, and the 2.21 Installer. Whenever I run the Installer, I get the following message: Firmware Update Failed An error has ocurred. Please try again. Please follow these steps when updating your Line 6 Product. 1. Turn the power switch off, then back on. 2. Ensure the USB cable is connected directly to your computer and not to a hub or peripheral such as a keyboard or mouse. 3. Click 'Continue' and attempt the update again. Of course I follow those steps and get the same results. Now the Helix doesn't even boot - it shows some glitchy blinky logo on the screen with the message "Boot failure Entered Update Mode!" There's also a red -3 in the upper left corner. Any advice??? (I'm running a Win 7 machine and followed the steps to update)

Has anyone been experiencing the problem I’m having? I've had this problem since purchasing the unit with it hanging for seemingly no reason and at odd times. I updated the firmware whilst following all of the instruction and holding my mouth in the right position and all that. After the update it seems to work for a while and now it hangs several times a playing session. The scenario goes like this: I’m playing along having a good ole time and I go to change a preset or parameter and all the controls are inoperative. Only solution I’ve found so far is to power cycle the unit. Luckily I haven't had this issue live because I’m not playing live at the moment. If I were playing live I would not count on this unit as of right now. I love the sounds and ease of use otherwise! I like this unit way better than the Axe FX for ease of use but not for reliability. The Axe FX was solid as a rock in terms of glitch free. Anyone else having this issue?

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I'm on a patch and then change to another patch and the unit hangs. The sound still works but all of the buttons are inoperable and the helix control floor unit does nothing. I had the same problem in 2.10 but now it's worse. Not Going to take this thing live with this kind of stuff happening. I had heard that Pete Thorn went back to his pedal board setup alone without the Helix. I wonder if it was because of little issues like this. Anyone else experiencing the same problems?

I highly recommend everyone do this periodically/now but particularly before and after updating firmware, and making backups for firmware updates. Go into the Editor's 'Help/About' section (upper left hand corner of the Editor) and confirm that your Editor version is the same as the firmware version indicated below it in the Editor screen. Do not update your firmware until you have backups from a version of the Editor that matches your current firmware. The Editor version should also match the firmware version that comes up when you first start your Helix. This may seem unnecessary but I think some will be surprised to find that their Editor version does not match their firmware version, even though they executed all the right steps (or didn't ;) ) during upgrading. Sometimes the Helix software must be uninstalled first and reinstalled to get the software to install properly or get rid of stale registry entries or links. You may be using an older mismatched version of the Editor and not even realize it. Especially in cases where the difference between the Editor versions is subtle as in the change between 2.10 and 2.11. Having a version of the Editor that does not match your current firmware can cause problems with your loads from backups in future firmware versions as well as a number of random issues with using the Editor. I wager some users will be surprised to find that their firmware and Editor versions are not the same after doing this check. Update: The HX Edit version that matches your firmware version are not always the same. For example, currently HX Edit 2.52 is matched with firmware 2.53.

Hi All, New to the forum. I have had my Amp setup for 3 years now. I bought a new (secondhand) guitar that has renewed my enthusiasm to pick up a guitar again. It seems though there are other plans afoot! I jumped online to see if there were any updates for the pedal and amp and sure enough there is! First thing I did was renew my password to login (as I forgot). Then I made sure I downloaded Line 6 sotware: Licence manager, Monkey, FBV controller & Spider Edit to my Macbook Pro. So I had everything powered off. I plugged in my Cat cable to the Amp & Pedal. I plugged in the USB between the Mac & Pedal. Turned amp on and powered laptop and logged into Monkey. Monkey found the devices and found the updates required so I downloaded those. Then right at the end of the update it came back with an error message about making sure cables are connected. (which they obviously were as everything was initially talking to each other) Then the amps display said 'Downloading'. So I thought it must have gone through. It said downloading for over an hour so I thought, these are only midi files, they ain't that big! So I tried to reinstall and then it said in the on screen software under Device Firmware, 'Unknown'. I restarted everything again but when I switched the amp back on it still came up with 'Downloading' It was at this point that I knew something had gone wrong for sure. I did a hard reset and cycled the pwr. Nothing. I searched the forums and found the factory reset. I have done that and now all the amp says is 'Ready to Install'. (which I tried but just get error messages about the firmware) If anyone knows a fix for this please please respond. Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, your my only hope!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone noticed a change of the sound when updating from 2.10 to 2.11. I'm playing through headphones and I'm hearing a noticable increase of highs after the update (which I wouldn' like at all). Also some loss of dynamics. I did't change anything an globals set to the values I had before (alwas make some notes before updating). Global EQ is off. I'm not sure if it's just me or has there been some changes that affect the sound? Thanks

Does anyone know if there is an archive anywhere of all the previous firmware updates, including the original factory firmware for the Helix? Also, I'm guessing it is necessary to pre-install whatever Helix editor goes along with the respective firmware, so is there also an archive of all previous versions of the Helix editor? Thanks in advance for any help.

A "what if" question for Line 6 and other Firehawk users: I am happy with Firehawk FX, but I wish one thing was different - I switch effects on and off more frequently than I change patches. Stepping over the patch change buttons to hit delay or overdrive on/off, I frequently miss and hit the patch change buttons below them. Would it be an easy software/firmware fix to give us the option to "flip" the functions of the 2 footswitch rows? Since everything is digital, it would seem feasible, but I was just curious to see if anyone else would be interested in that option...

Important note ye Helix users. After you backup your presets and IRs and update your firmware and run the global reset (FS 9&10 on the floor version) and do a restart make absolutely sure to shut the Helix down and restart it one more time before you start tweaking your presets. You will notice that the first time you shut down and restart the Helix after you have updated the firmware, done the global reset, and loaded the presets from your previous firmware version that the screen will show that all the presets loaded from your prior firmware version are being rebuilt. Again, this will happen on the next restart AFTER the global settings reset/restart and the load of your old presets. I don't know if this will impact any presets you have modified in between the firmware update and your second restart but it seems like a good precautionary measure to let your restored presets do their final rebuild before you start changing them. You will also want to back up all your bundle, setlists, IRs, and presets AFTER you do the second restart of the Helix and all of the presets from your previous firmware version have been rebuilt (you can do it before if you want as well). Rule of thumb, make sure you get good backups and don't start changing presets until after you can do a restart and there are no longer any rebuild messages on the screen during the bootup process.

It's been 3 years now... Is anything at all happening with the M20D? Any firmware updates planned.. any new patches being developed.. anything that resembles development, evolution, or even interest of any type? Could one of you Line 6 Techs, just one time, throw us one scrap of information on it?

Excellent report. Last night the Helix with FW 2.0 knocked it out of the park. Great tone, many compliments (including my wife who is very critical ... which I actually admire and enjoy), and great band mix. Using the Global EQ, setting the output to max letting the mixer channel control signal, and just playing was very easy and extremely enjoyable. I didn't get to the snapshots of any of my presets during the 4 hour show so at this point the Z value was not addressed nor did it in any way detract my tone from FH. Thought maybe someone would like to get a report on this. That's my story and ... Dennis
