1. Please help if anyone knows. I have a Flextone II HD and am looking for a compatible cabinet for the cabinet modeling. I can't find any of the original flextone cabs kicking around. Will the spider V cabinets work and still allow cabinet modeling? If not any recommendations? I am currently running it through a mesa 2x12 cab but cabinet modeling doesn't sound right. Thanks!
2. Dear all, I recently got my hands on a Flextone 212s cabinet. However just one of the two speakers was operational. I found out that the wiring for one of the speakers was loose when unscrewing the small back plate for the speaker cable inputs and looking through the opening. I managed to get my hand (I have fairly small hands) into the opening and plugged the wiring back on the speaker. The speaker is working fine now, still since the cables are just plugged into the speakers and not soldered, I am afraid that this could happen again. Therefore I would like to open the front of the cabinet to unbuild the speakers and solder the cable connection properly. How do I open the front however? I found no screws or any indication on where to open the front grill/cloth of the cabinet. I do not want to destroy the cabinet, so I am curious how to do this? Thanks for any advice! Cheers, Alex
3. Hi everyone, I've bought a second hand Flextone III XL, i know it's kinda old now but i hope i can still use Line 6 edit to load custom tones, but the loading bar stops at 5 seconds, and a MIDI timeout error appears. so i spent the night trying to connect my amp to my laptop in order to update the flash memory with line 6 monkey so maybe line 6 edit would recognize it. I looked a lot of threads on this forum, i'm using the M-audio Uno, with the manufacturer's drivers, tried the safe mode Power + A ( then only the A button lights up ), and nothing happens . monkey does recognize my amp, but when i try to update ( with "update selection" and "update from file" ), I choose the second option ( install the new default patches ) it stops at "reading existing patches" then I get the errors : Please, tell me what more can i try, i even tried a hard reset ( A + D + Power ), downloading the 1.0 file and loading it with monkey, nothing works.
4. Ok, let me rephrase that.. I could've sworn I remember seeing somewhere here that there are some players out there that have been using the Line 6 Flextone combo as an FRFR solution, either at home or on stage.. could this be?! I guess the second part of this weird question is, can that actually be done? For anyone that actually has done that, how does it sound?
5. I'm on the verge of buying the FX Junkie model pack. I'd like to know, will I be able to use it on my pod xt as well as on my flextone iii XL? do I have to pay for an extra licence?
6. I have a Flextone 2xl and recently bought a power cord for it. now it's got a terrible hum, anyways, it is one I bought off an ebay store brand new. My question is: Is it the power cord or is it the amp in anyway? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Please send any thing it could be
7. I just picked up a Flextone III XL and a new FBV Shortboard MKII (great combo btw, I love it). It looks like everything is laid out all the same as the standard FBV Shortboard, except it would seem Function 1 now controls the FX loop on/off, and Stomp controls the Compressor. What does Function 2 do? I've read an old post that says it does nothing, but there are Line 6 default presets that light up Function 2 when I switch to them and other presets that turn the light off when I switch to them. Only a few of the presets I have tweaked on the Flextone itself, and none of them were tweaked while the shortboard was connected as I just got it last night. So it would seem it does SOMETHING, but I can't find any info on it. Just to cover all my bases, the Shortboard MKII had the latest firmware out of the box, and the "new to me" Flextone III was re-flashed with the latest 1.10 firmware along with an A+D factory reset before I started playing with it to make sure it was as "factory fresh" as possible. Thanks for any help!
8. Hey everyone I have a Flextone III that I'm using with a POD XT Live. How do I bypass my Flextone III's amp modelling so that the XT Live does all the work. I setup the Line 6 Clean Amp but I find my sound still sounds a little muddy. Thoughts?
9. Hi My Name is Don I'm a Line6aholic Help Me, I'm addicted to Line 6 and the buy it now button at American musical and zzounds.com and it doesn't help that they both offer the payment plan that makes it even worse. It all started way back with the first flextone, I fell in love with it. I thought it was the best amp I ever played out of. Then I moved on to the flextone 3 and thought I would never buy another amp again. But of course Line 6 had to put out the DT50. So what did I do? you guessed it... Then I had to get the HD500 oh and don't forget the JTV69s to complete my dream rig. Now you would think I would stop there but noooo... I bought the Relay g30 wireless for all my other guitars, "don't get me started there"... well now that I had the dream rig I figured what the hell I need a new PA so what did I do buy it now, buy it now, and of course buy it now. Had to get the L3T just to see if that would work for my dream rig plus vocals and acoustic but is one enough? Two is always better. You know where it goes from here the Stagescape M20d now I have the dream stage although I haven't sprung for the subwoofers yet , crap why did I bring that up... Now my new addition is the HD Pro X. Now it's like I'm waiting with bated breath to get the next email from Line 6 telling me about the next addition to my Line 6 inventory. I do love Line 6 and it never lets me down, it gets better and better all the time... Thanks Line 6
10. Heya you all! I would like to know if it is possible to control my Flextone II's channels (or presets?) via my Pod XT live -pedal using MIDI? If this is possible, how easy it is to set up? One more question; if I can get the POD xt live to control Flextone presets/sounds, can I still put it in effets loop and use some effects from pod? Thank you for your asnwers! :)
11. Hi, I am experiencing a very important issue with my flextone III During the last 30 days it just restarts... first I thought maybe it was the power cable and it doesnt connect well. Tried a different cable but the problem persists... Yesterday it stayed off for some time before it could power again. When I turned down the switch the normal sound on the back clicked, if this does help, and after a while I could power the amp again. I now dont know what to do, I use this amp for gigs and I dont what this to happen during a show... I was lucky enough that it didnt happened on my last gig a couple of weeks ago!
12. Hello, I've recently bought a Flextone III XL and I'm pretty disapointed. I have the same problem detailed in this old post (I don't know why Line 6 locked all topics) http://line6.com/support/message/476712 In my case, volume changes coicide when the light of the channel turns off (both in the floorboard and in the amp). Can it be caused by a digital issue? I know lots of people had the same problem with this amp. Does anybody knows how to fix it? Technical support is very very far away from my home. I can't belive Line 6 don't tell me anything but "take it to the technical support". For what I've seen this is a typical issue of this amp. I would apreciate any help you could give me.
13. If I was to use a midi foot controller (for example an Art X15) with the flextone 3 I know I can still access all 36 patches. However if I say access patch C3 (or any of the other, extra 32 patches not directly accessible from the front panel) and change a setting can I resave it to that patch by holding down the C button or will that resave it to the first bank?
14. Francais Deutsch Q: What is Line 6 Edit? A: Line 6 Edit is a free software application from Line 6 that provides complete editor/librarian features for the following products: POD XT/XTLive/Pro Bass POD XT/XTLive/Pro Vetta II Combo/Head Flextone II/III HD 147 POD 2.0/Pro Note: Vetta II Combo/Head, HD 147, Flextone II/III, POD 2.0/Pro users will need a MIDI interface and cables to use it. We recommend the M-Audio MIDIsport Uno if you do not already have a MIDI to USB device. We recommend installing the MIDI interface drivers directly from the manufacturer's website to ensure you have the latest drivers for your OS. Midisport Uno IMPORTANT: Line 6 Edit is a Java based application, and will run on Macintosh OS X (10.1x-10.5.x) and any Windows OS that can run any version of Java 5 (the latest update is 21). Be aware that using an earlier version of Line 6 Edit will not launch if ANY Java Runtime 6 Environment components are installed. LINE 6 EDIT is available for download here: Software Downloads Line 6 Edit software even translates tones between selected products: Vetta II will be able to use GuitarPort, PODxt, Flextone III, HD 147 or POD 2.0 Tones. Flextone III and HD 147 will be able to use GuitarPort, PODxt or POD 2.0 Tones. PODxt units will be able to use Flextone III, HD 147, POD 2.0 and, of course, GuitarPort Tones. Q: I'm getting an error message saying "Cannot copy to POD XT Live because it is a POD 2.0 tone". A: The way around this is to use Gearbox (free download from http://line6.com/software/) to open the tone once you transfer it from the POD Pro to the tone folder on your computer. With POD Pro connected, transfer all the tones you want to the tones folder on your computer using Edit. Disconnect POD Pro and connect POD XT. Open Gearbox. Open a POD Pro/2.0 tone in Gearbox. Save the tone to your computer in whatever location you want. Close Gearbox and open Edit Locate tone and transfer into POD XT via Sync button Q: I am getting a Java Error when I try to run Line 6 Edit? A: See the following link for resolution: Resolving Java Errors with Line 6 Edit and Workbench Q: How do I set up my Line 6 device using MIDI to connect with Line 6 Edit? 1) Please ensure that you have the interface's latest drivers installed on your computer. We recommend downloading the drivers directly from the manufacturer's website and installing the drivers BEFORE connecting your USB-MIDI interface. Consult the manufacturer's website for the correct installation and troubleshooting procedures to ensure your drivers are installed correctly. 2) Connect your Line 6 device to the MIDI Interface, making sure the cables are connected correctly. Traditional MIDI connections will have the Line 6 device MIDI IN to interface MIDI OUT, and the Line 6 device MIDI OUT to interface MIDI IN. The MIDIsport Uno will be labeled "to MIDI in" and "to MIDI out". 3) Turn your Line 6 device ON, then open Line 6 Edit. We will use a Vetta II head for these screen examples: 4) If your unit is not being recognized by your computer, select "configure": 5) In the MIDI devices window, select "add": 6) Under the MIDI in port, select your USB to MIDI device: 7) Under the MIDI out port, select your USB to MIDI device: 8) You can leave the device window in "auto detect" or choose the device you plan to use. Once this is completed, select "add": 9) When your device appears in the window, select "OK": 10) Once your device is selected, your computer will import the tones that are currently installed on your device. Do not change any settings or or turn your unit off during the information transfer: 11) Line 6 Edit will now display the tones and bundles currently installed on your computer on the left side of the window, while displaying the tones installed on the Line 6 unit on the right side of the computer. If you need help navigating the features of Line 6 Edit, select the help menu for assistance in connections, backing up your tones, and importing tones. Q: What is Customtone? A: Customtone features a gigantic Line 6-authored library filled with selected tones from the vast treasure trove of GuitarPort Online, including tones matched to many of the greatest classic and new guitarists, bands and songs. You can access Customtone here: Customtone Q: I Get an error message when trying to access the Online Library through Line 6 Edit? A: This is a bug in the Line 6 Edit software that has not been resolved. Please visit the link above to connect to the Customtone website. Line 6 Edit: F.A.Q. Was ist Line 6 Edit? Was ist Customtone? Je reçois le message "Cannot copy to POD XT Live because it is a POD 2.0 tone". Connectez votre appareil Line 6 à l'interface MIDI. Les câbles doivent être connectés correctement. Les connexions MIDI traditionnels seront: appareil Line 6 MIDI IN à interface MIDI OUT et l'appareil Line 6 MIDI OUT à interface MIDI IN. Le MIDI sport Uno sera étiqueté "to MIDI on" et "to MIDI out". Cliquez "Add".
15. Step 1: First, you will need to know where your tones reside on your computer. In this example, the path/location will be: C:\Documents and Settings\(User Account Name)\My Documents\Line 6\Tones\Line 6 Edit\Downloaded Tones. Keep in mind that "Downloaded Tones" is an arbitrarily created folder to organize the downloaded patches. Step 2: Open Line 6 Edit: Step 3: The LEFT window of the Line 6 edit program represents your computer's hard drive. The RIGHT window represents the Patch Locations of your connected Line 6 USB hardware device (in this case, a POD XT Live). Browse to the correct location of your saved patches (mentioned in Step 1) in the LEFT window. Step 4: In our example, we will transfer the "AC 30" tone from our hard drive over to the POD XT Live Location #1A. Step 5: Highlight the desired patch in the LEFT window. Step 6: highlight the location (1A) on the device in the RIGHT window. Step 7: Click on the "Selected SEND" button in the CENTER window: Step 8: Note the red-yellow "Exclamation" mark in the transfered "AC 30" in location 1A. This indicates that it is a temporary buffer transfer. In order to finalize your transfer, you will need to click on the "SYNC" button in the lower right-hand corner of the ToneLocker window. Step 9: After clicking on "SYNC", you will be prompted to confirm the transfer. Select "Write Selected Tones to (Device)". Step 10: Another confirmation message "This will write the selected modified Tones..." will appear, select "YES": Wait for the transfer to take place (don't make any changes to your gear or unplug the unit): After completing these steps, your Device will have the desired Patch/Tone saved to the location specified. The same procedure can be used for "bundles" of tones as well.
