    POD HD series and FBV3

Although the FBV 3 is fully compatible with the POD HD, POD HD Pro, and POD HD Pro X, the footswitch labels do not line up with the corresponding functions as compared to the FBV Shortboard MKII. The FBV 3 has been redesigned and it no longer has a Function 2 footswitch. What previously was assigned to the Function 2 switch on the Shortboard MKII is now done with FS 1 (Set List Select Mode On/Off) on the FBV3. The footswitches that were labeled Stomp, Modulation, Delay, and Reverb from the Shortboard are now FS 2 - FS 5 on the FBV3. Function 1 (Looper Mode On/Off) remains the same between both pedals. Also, when assigning stompboxes to footswitches, the POD will not correlate to the FBV 3, it will be off by one. So FS 1 on the Pod corresponds with FS 2 on the FBV3, and FS 2 on the POD is now FS 3, etc. See the figure below for an example.
  2. A "what if" question for Line 6 and other Firehawk users: I am happy with Firehawk FX, but I wish one thing was different - I switch effects on and off more frequently than I change patches. Stepping over the patch change buttons to hit delay or overdrive on/off, I frequently miss and hit the patch change buttons below them. Would it be an easy software/firmware fix to give us the option to "flip" the functions of the 2 footswitch rows? Since everything is digital, it would seem feasible, but I was just curious to see if anyone else would be interested in that option...
  3. sometimes after the 2.10 update, i hit a footswitch and it doesnt show up as selected on the helix. but it still works , just doesnt show up on the helix. weird. help!
  4. Just posted this on Ideascale. For all those who are needing more Snapshots on the Helix. Two Phase Snapshot Footswitches Mode Idea Actions My idea is to enable two Snapshots per footswitch and be able to A/B between them. Repeatedly stepping on a footswitch toggles between the two Snapshots assigned to that footswitch. This would effectively give you 16 total snapshots or 8 if you're in Preset/Snap mode. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Two-Phase-Snapshot-Footswitches-Mode/857489-23508
  5. Hi Guys I know the Helix Control is the recommended footswitch for the Helix, but has anyone had any luck getting the helix to Recognise the FBV Express / Shortboards to work with the Helix? I have not been able to get my shortboards to be recognised, which is a shame as i was hoping to use that instead of my FCB1010 with the helix. Many of us HDPRO users that have upgraded, would still like to be able to use their footswiches :)
  6. Ok, I just can't figure this out. Please help. I don't want to use snapshots on this particular preset. I have too many effects assigned to those 10 footswitches. I have two distortion blocks. I want one to turn off when I turn the other on. Sometimes I want them both off. I never want them both on. (I often accidentally turn them both on and it's awful). How might I do this without snapshots? Thanks!!
  7. Hi, I am with a company designing a custom midi controller that we wanted to have work with the M9. We are using Arduino to implement the controller. I have the looper doing play/stop and record via midi, all of which work great. When I tried to implement overdubbing, the M9 does not respond. I am sending a midi control change message with controller number 50 and a value of 0 on channel 1. I have tested this by sending the midi message to Abelton, which recieves it correctly and verifies this is what is being sent. I have also tried implementing it via Arduino's midi library and via their serial.write sending the message manually. I checked the midi input in setup as well, and have tried it both as channel 1 and omni. Another weird thing is that when the M9 is in record mode and receives this message it goes into playing while overdubbing, but once the M9 is playing the message does nothing. Really unsure what is wrong here unless our M9 is just defective, I have exhausted every other factor of error I can think of. I am going off the midi controls listed in the manual here: http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593fca717b/application/pdf/M9%20Advanced%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf We are on a deadline to have this working so any help is very much appreciated. Thanks!
  8. Sometimes I wake up at night and ask myself some stupid questions. Here is one of them: "What is the reason for red LEDs on footswitches Bank up/down?" I mean… in what case do they lit up? As a guitarist and singer I am often unsure if I will hit the bank-switches or FS1 and FS5 while playing. Sometimes I accidently kick the bank-switches but wanted the FS. Why didn't they gave them a blue LED-ring to separate the bank-switches from footswitches? Same on the looper and tap
  9. Is there any way to have a single footswitch toggle between 3 states, meaning 3 different sets of enabled and disabled blocks, and/or 3 sets of parameter settings? Like for instance, for a distortion block, between disabled, enabled and relatively tame default settings, and enabled with face-melt drive and level settings? My guess is no, just thought I'd ask instead of assuming that.
  10. I am looking to use a one of the Helix footswitch to call a certain guitar model stored in my JTV Variax? Thanks.
  11. After struggling with this for a while myself I think I found a consistent and easy way to assign multiple blocks to a footswitch and easily bypass the ones I want bypassed when the footswitch is off with predictable results. This may seem obvious but the previous method I was using always seemed to leave me having to save and go back and play with the bypass states again to get the blocks I wanted coming on and off with the footswitch ring reflecting their state properly. PROCEDURE FOR ASSIGNING MULTIPLE BLOCKS TO A FOOTSWITCH Click the "MODE" footswitch to enter pedal view if you are not already there. Use the joystick to navigate to the block you want to assign to a footswitch. Now touch and hold the footswitch you want to assign to your block to. Do not click or tap the footswitch, just touch it gently and hold it like your favorite toy. After you hold it for a second the "Footswitch Assign" screen will pop up. Hit "OK" to assign the footswitch. Now use the joystick to navigate to the next block you want to assign and repeat step #3. Again, as long as you hold (keep your finger down without lifting) the footswitch rather than tapping it, the new block you are attempting to assign to the footswitch will stay selected and the "Footswitch Assign" screen will pop up. Now repeat step #4. You can repeat steps #2, #3, & #4 for up to 8 block assignments (at least as of this post). Finally, after all your chosen blocks are assigned. You can tap (touch and quickly lift off, don't click) the footswitch you have assigned everything to. Notice this time you are tapping, not touching and holding. Each time you tap the footswitch it will move to the next block that you have in your multiple assignment. Push bypass (or not) for each block assigned depending on whether you want if on or off when the footswitch is engaged. Once you have done this you will notice that you can tap your way through the blocks and the footswitch will light up or go dim according to each block's bypass state. Last but not least, if you want your preset to come up with your multiple assigned footswitch on, make sure that before you save it, you select (using the tap method in step #6) one of the blocks that is not bypassed on the multiple assignment. It does not matter which one of the blocks that is not bypassed you select. The opposite of course applies, if you want your preset to come up with the multiple footswitch dimmed and not selected, make sure you select any one of the blocks that is bypassed. Now save your preset or all your work is for naught! Sheesh, with all that tapping and touching and squeezing this post was starting to remind me of an old Journey tune.

    HELIX and EXT Amp Controlling

Helix's ability to control external amp channel and/or reverb switching has been tested with many popular amps and heads. Unfortunately this does not guarantee compatibility with all products. Note that, depending on the circuitry of the channel switching jack in the guitar amp used, the EXT Amp function may not operate as expected.
  13. I've gone ahead and opened up a ticket for a failing footswitch on by brand new Helix. Anyone else experience anything similar? Any solutions? My heart is broken!
  14. With one of my patches I have say 4 different reverbs all assigned to foot switches. When I turn one on I want the remaining 3 to turn off. I messed around with Multiples last night but couldn't get it going. Can this be done?
  15. Moving a "Multiple" assignment (for example turn on Mutant Filter, turn off compressor) from one footswitch to another requires reassigning up to all eight of your pedals/assignments to the new footswitch instead of moving all of the current assignments at one time. Additionally, if you have a customized name it will be lost and you will have to retoggle in the name again. You also lose the color for the footswitch ring if you had that customized as well. Seems like just moving a multiple assignment to an alternate footswitch should retain all of your pedal/assignment choices, the customized name, and the customized color. The only method I am aware of, makes moving a multiple assigned switch, particularly a customized one more painful than it needs to be as you need to essentially rebuild everything you had assigned to the footswitch from scratch. Is there some other method that moves the whole multiple assignment, name, and color at once? If not, this is a feature that would greatly simplify things and save lots 'o time.
  16. Hi' I am a new owner of a POD 500HD. How do I use the footswitches to move between different settings while playing live? As far as I can tell the footswitches only turn individual pedals on and off within a single setting... Thanks :)
  17. hi I have a Variax 500 and it worked well with XPS-AB until now: XLR thru PA - 1/4" trhu a Marshall Amp. Recently, if I switch XLR to PA, it works well and the 1/4" signal is mute; but when I switch to 1/4" the sound thru the amp is good, but at the same time in the XLR signal (that goes thru the PA) there is a noise and not mute. Help! Frank
  18. Hello, I want to know If I can add to my line 6 M5 a footswitch, to make easier my channel change.
  19. Hello, yesterday i bought an footswitch for my line6 UX2 (Boss FS-5U) which works fine with gearbox, It was automatically detected as "stomp", but i can only use the presets for the stomp (Fuzz Pi, Facial Fuzz, Classic Distortion, Screamer, Sub Octaves and so on). But i want to use my own settings, because there are only 10 presets which are not the bests - is this possible?
  20. I can't change pod presets using midi floor controller, pod ignore command. Is there someone can suggest me how to solve this problem? Thanks
  21. Hello, I plan to buy a pedal - footswitch for my device POD Studio UX2 . I contacted the service center lines 6 , but I'm not satisfied with the answer . Could you recommend some specific foot switch , using for example ? Thank you for your response . Thomas Mohr
  22. I got my JVT59 and POD HD500 because of the alternate tuning feature. I have no skin sensation in my hands and some paralysis so I open tune and use a "Guitar Barre" to fret. With the POD I can get 4 different types of chords using presets, for instance A (M), B (m), C (M7), D (Maj7). This is great, but is still limiting; much better than just Major chords w/o my Line 6. It not only limits chords but also limits effects on the POD. When switching from A to B, all of the effects have to be the same settings and on or off in the same configuration. I want to make a pedal board that just switches the tuning; in theory this is simple. The problem is I don't want to destroy the original tuning selector and destroy the function all together. Does anyone know how to get a second rotary selector switch to wire into a new pedal or some other way to achieve my goal? As I told Line6 in a letter last year the JVT and HD500 combo can enable may people like me, who can no longer play conventionally, express themselves. Thanks for any input.
  23. when you switch a bank, select a tone while the bank numeral is flashing or the bank will switch back to the prior bank. Sounds simple, but my assumption was that all you had to do was to press A&B or C&D and the bank would change...and then you would select a tone - one thing at a time. Actually, I still think that's how it should work, but now at least I know. After 5 videos and the quick start guide, when I still couldn't make it change, I assumed it was a bug and returned it. After the 2nd one, I watched a few more videos and found what I was looking for. A real manual would have helped.
  24. I've had the UX2 for quite sometime and never got a footswitch for it it so I decided to make one . Since I have the basic hand tools. a drill/drills, soldering iron/related tools, light wire and quarter inch 6 ft guitar cables all I needed was 2 quarter inch mono jacks, 2 momentary switches (light duty) and a box all of which I found at Radio Shack. I added 1 more switch and jack so I can run to something else tha'll use a momentary switch. It works great and It makes the UX2 so much better.
